7 reviews for Clementine's Steak House
When on a road trip and you discover something wonderful, it deserves 5 stars. Fried chicken and pie. That says it all. I've actually purchased 5 pies at once and didn't mind a 2 1/2 hour drive BACK to this place to return the pie tins and get my deposit back.
However... I didn't get the deposit back... I just put it towards more pies. More more more. I love that this place is off the beaten path. I love that it still has local charm. Have I had a better steak? Yeah... but coming in here and having no expectations... this place was impressive.
Fried chicken though.
I'd chose that over the steak.
And pie.
lots of pie.
I love Clementine's; even thought they are only open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Prime rib on Saturdays only.
Everything there is homemade and very delicious. I had their fried chicken with their salad & split pea soup, and parmasean cheese zucchini. Then for dessert their apple pie with their homemade whip cream. My husband had their steak. We had so much food that we enjoyed out leftovers the next day. The staff is extremely nice and their atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The hostess has been there for years and her son is the chef.
Clementine's is # 1 on my restaurant list :)
First, take heed, this place is only open:
Wed-Sun 5-9
The guy over at the Chevron on the other side of the 101 told me about this place.
It was dinner time, traffic ahead on the 101, so I was looking for a solid meal. Rest. Grub. Solace from the road.
This place had it. Tons.
Solid steaks and great fried chicken are what I've been able to enjoy respectively on my two visits.
The waiter told me about prime rib Saturdays.
I think I might just do that next time in the area.
Really nice folks work here, too.
Clementine's is perhaps Carpinteria's finest restaurant. Great service with very consistent quality in its entire menu. If you are a meat and potatoes person and appreciate a fresh seafood offering each day, Clementine's is the place for you. Every meal is topped off with a fresh slice of homemade pie. The meals are so large that we usually end up taking the pie home.
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there 25 years ago and it is still the place to go when we are visiting my wife's family in Carpinteria.
My father loved Clementine's. Apparently my parents use to come here often but my first experience was in high school. Since then I've been here several times, ordering different items on the menu...which no matter what entree you order you will get
-bread
-veggies
-salad
-entree (with come with veggies and potatoes/rice)
-pie
The fried Chicken is good! Crispy skin juicy chicken. You get 2 large pieces so you'll be really stuffed!
The filet is good, mine was a little over done but not a deal breaker.
I tried some fish dish, it was probably a salmon entree. Decent, obviously not too memorable.
Teriyaki Chicken is yummy as well.
Honestly though its about the pies!! They have seasonal as well as their old standards (like chocolate brownie, my personal favorite). Crusts are flaky and fillings are fresh and delish!! Also have enjoyed blackberry, strawberry, peach and pumpkin.
If you need a place to have a quiet, quant dinner (for a date, business, or family get-together) then give Clementines a try! You'll for sure walk away full but still wanting more of that pie!!
Its worth four stars for the pie alone. Delish. Quaint is definitely the word. Good service, lighting was a little dim last time I went but I think the word for that is ambiance, so just go and enjoy.
After a day of adventuring in the Santa Barbara area, my husband and I were in search of a recommended local restaurant. So I whipped out my phone, and the glowing reviews for Clementine's won us over. And with good reason. We didn't try the chicken or steak, but I'm sure they were amazing. We ordered soup and salad, the servings of which were huge and "down-home". Everything was so fresh and tasted great. The pie...oh my goodness, the pie is as good as everyone says it is. SO delicious. If you come here for no other reason than dessert, you've done yourself a favor. The decor is quite "homey", reminding one of a grandmother's house. We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday which was quite auspicious because the place filled up like an exclusive LA club in no time. Get there early for a table! Steak, chicken or fish will run you about $20-$30 a plate, but the servings are quite generous and you just can't beat the food.
