3 reviews for Clearwater Marine Aquarium Inc
This is a very small and almost random aquarium that is more of a rehabilitation center than an exhibit. It could definitely use some additional funding as it is a little run down, but the staff are passionate people and it's a worthy cause. On the plus side it is pretty cheap and you can take a bus there, but on the down side there really isn't much to see inside.
They have a number of dolphins, otters, turtles, and fish, you can see them via live webcam from their website. I would recommend this place for a school field trip but otherwise it's a very average experience.
We've been here twice - a couple of years ago and just today. It's a rescue center for marine mammals and animals like sea turtles. They also have rescued sea otters. Earlier reviews say - not much of an aquarium - but it is an experience. They also house the dolphin Winter which uses a prosthetic tail. Here's my advice on your visit - get there around noonish to one o'clock and check out the sea turtle feeding along with the dolphin show at 2pm. That will give you a solid 1-2 hours of time - you can even take a stroll at the stingwray touch tank. Good stuff and a great lesson to all kids and adults alike on how we need to treat our ocean going friends.
It's not much of an aqaurium, really more of a rehabilitation center as mentioned in other reviews and it's very very small. If the admission price wasn't donated towards helping the sea creatures/fish I would say you shouldn't even bother going. better off just heading to the Tampa Aquarium. It's an alright place to kill 40 mins or so. Most likely enjoyable for small children, but for adolescents and Adults, hit up the Tampa Aquarium for the day.
