179 reviews for CleanAir Smog Check Test-Only Center
One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
Very efficient! We were in and out in 6 minutes (went early in the am). The technician was very friendly and helpful and you get $20 just by mentioning you found them on Yelp.
If you need a smog check this is your place.
You hate to get it done, but it is good for the environment. Nevertheless, if you do need to get it done Clean Air Smog is the place to do it.
Clean Air Smog is convenient, quick and does not give you the run-around. Even better, they offers a online coupon for $20. as with most things it is hard to get a smog as there are so many, but do not know which one to chose.
It was easy with only a quick call for availability and just drove in. It only took 30 minutes and that was all. So take a quick walk and by the time you get back it is all done and your keys are in the car.
Anyway, take my word for it, they are the ones to go to.
As we have here is just off of Harrison and let me tell you it is .
It's like everyone else says:
- Tons of magazines and free internet.
- Good setup. Drive out through the rear of the building when it's done. No backing up onto a busy street like my last smog check.
- Cheap. $49.95 after the Yelp discount, + $10 fees (Electronic Transmission $1.75 and Certificate of Compliance $8.25) = $59.95
I went there on a Saturday morning. There was no line so I was in and out in 10 minutes.
These guys make this probably one of the least shitty things you have to do when when getting a new or getting rid of a car.
Rolled in on Monday afternoon with two cars ahead of me. I was out in less than 15 minutes.
Good!
The reviewers are right! I went here because of the positive Yelp reviews. I called mid-afternoon on a weekday, and drove right down. There was only one car in the bay (they have 2 stations) so I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Service was friendly and efficient, and although the waiting room reading material was not the greatest (very boy-oriented), it was light and comfortable.
Decided to run some errands today and getting smog checked was one of them. I found this dude on Yelp and it made my day.
There is a very funny, but non BS sort of east coast vibe about the dude. He asked how I found him and I told him through Yelp...bang, 10% discount. I was not looking for it but I appreciated the little hook-up. He even gave me tips about adjusting my linkage on my Jeep. He's the coolest.
Go.
Ah, the biennial proctological exam... for the car. And even though it is for the car and not you, you still want it to be quick and painless. It also helps when your car (or you) get a clean bill of health.
So, saw these guys on Yelp with all their killer reviews and they lived up to the hype. Rolled in about 1:30pm, a few cars ahead of me, and was still out of there in about 10 minutes.
Two for Two, thanks to Yelp!
I should buy a lotto ticket. Really. I went to CleanAir smog check right before work. Great location, easy to get out of there (just drive through.) There was a crowd, and I was told it would take 45 minutes. I'm not gonna dock them for this though, as business is sure to be crowded with all the great reviews of this place. Sh-t happens, I understand. But the amazing thing was I found myself driving out 45 minutes after I was told 45 minutes. That level of predictability is a hallmark of a well-run business. They respect your time, will tell you what you need to hear, and still impress the hell out of you.
Back to the lotto ticket. This was the second day for me in a push to get my car re-registered because it was stolen, recovered, and sitting in my garage for over 3 years. (Read my other reviews for more Yelp comments concerning my stolen car.) Yesterday, I just had a great experience with San Mateo Autoworks, and a great experience today with CleanAir. Two 5-star experiences? One day after another? You've got to be kidding me!
I highly recommend this place...especially for peninsula folks. Coming from anywhere south of Daly City, your car should be thoroughly warmed-up by the time you hit the dynamometer, which is key to passing smog. Follow the directions on their website as well!
In and out in less than 15 minutes; quicker and easier than an oil change. Professional, no games. Even have a computer to surf the internet.
As a female I'm always a little nervous going into any vehicle/maintenance type shop. Taking advantage of is not a good thing. My fault for not being well versed in "auto" either. But, oh well. Researched on Yelp (as always) and chose this place based on the reviews and location.
Got my smog test done today. The gentleman who took my info asked how I found out about them and I mentioned Yelp ($20 DISCOUNT...SCORE!). He was super friendly and told me that it would just take 10 minutes. And guess what....10 minutes later, I'm paying my bill with $20 more in my pocket. I love it when things go smoothly.
So Easy....even a non-cave woman can do it.
Found my new place for smog checks. Unbelievably quick, very friendly, and the $20 yelp discount does help quite a bit.
Thanks CleanAir!
Service was quick and to the point. Even with only one person working that day. I forgot my DMV papers but it did not matter. He took care of everything.
***There is a little discount also if you mention that you heard about them on YELP!!!
Can't add much to what's already been said but I wanted to add my voice to the 'five-star' group - this place is fast, courteous and convenient. We were in and out very quickly (I passed, woo-hoo!) - and discovered a wonderful Middle Eastern cafe just up the street while we were waiting - all good :)
Thank you, fellow Yelpers - I will no longer dread the biannual smog check!
went to get a smog check to reg my car ,you drive up the garage and the
techs begin working on getting you pass after 10 minutes and looking over a travel magazine it was all over. these guy are fast will go again and recommend friends. +++note+++ no repairs here.
Just rolled in there with my Toyota and I was out of there before I could read a couple of pages of a magazine I picked up. They have a waiting room full of magazines. Take your pick! Most likely you wont be there longer than 15 minutes if your car is in decent shape. So don't get too comfortable. I was out of there in under 10 minutes and the guys were really really nice. Thanks for the fast service. I was in a total rush too!
Justin
Wow! In & out in less than 10 minutes! I barely thumbed thru 3 pages of a car magazine and checked my email on their free internet computer! Luckily, I went in and was the only car at lunch time. By the time I walked to their customer lobby, 4 cars pulled up. Thanks, Erwin and CleanAir Smog for a speedy service and the Yelp discount! I normally get my smog checked at Smog Queen around the block, but after I Yelped it, I'm a huge fan.
Quick, efficient, and friendly, just as everyone else says.
Yelp discount was applied as advertised. Total cost: 59.95 for passing test ($10 electronic transmission fee), with $20 Yelp discount.
I got there this morning at 10 minutes after 8 and although there were 4 cars ahead of me, I was still able to make it to work by 9. Luckily I work in SOMA too, but still. I got in and out of there reasonably quick. The $20 discount for mentioning yelp is great. They don't take American Express, boo, no skymiles for me. All in all thumbs up.
I came to YELP looking for a smog place and this one had great reviews. I now see why. I needed to get some tickets for a show at Slims (they sure don't get 5 stars) and it was right across the street....How perfect was THAT??? No Sh*t these guys had me in and out in like 7 minutes. They contacted the DMV so that was done...AND, I got the $20 off for mentioning Yelp. Nice ppl too. Look no further people.
Friendly guy and super fast service. Easy location on 11th over by the DNA Lounge and Costco. There was no one else in front of me, so I was in and out of there in 10 minutes flat. Mention Yelp and get 20 bucks off, which basically brings the price to what it should be in the first place.
It was fast, the price was fair, and they gave me my SMOG cert so I can sell this car I hate. So I'm happy.
If you need a smog check and you're in the area, you'd be insane not to come here. These guys know how to run a smog check business. Don't forget to mention you found them on Yelp to get the automatic $20 off, making the final bill $59.95.
I got the dreaded smog certification requirement with my DMV reg renewal and found this place around the corner from my office. I've heard cars do better on smog checks when warm, so I rolled in on my way to work.
They were a few minutes late opening at 8am, but no big deal. I was the only customer there and was done in under 10 minutes.
I rolled in at 12:30 on a Thursday, expecting a wait, but the guys were eating lunch and I was the only customer. They did my smog check on the spot, and I was out in less than 15 minutes. $59.95 after the Yelp discount. It can't be that interesting doing nothing but smog checks all day but I'm glad someone's willing to do it.
Did it really take less than 5 minutes?!?!
I guess not, but I was sooooo distracted reading the covers of the magazines and later checking the FREE internet on THEIR computer ( iphone users that is not for you...) that as soon as I took my eyes of the screen the car was ready!
I thought it could not get better but thanks to YELP I got $20 off!
Quick, efficient, and comfortable. Just park in the 'drive-in' as far as you can go, leave your keys and Smog form in the car, and go to the office. Lots of magazines, an internet computer, and h2o are available. Cost: $49.95 if you fail, $59.95 if you pass ($10 for electronic transmission fee). Oh - and this is WITH the $20 yelp discount. With 2 cars in front of me, I was still out in 30 minutes. You can bet that I'll be going back in 2 years.
Very quick and friendly. They gave me the $20 discount without my asking.
They did a super fast job on my smog test, and by mentioning the Yelp discount I saved $20, so it only cost me $49. Good deal. Highly recommend.
When I started using Yelp, I used it as an online bookmark, to help me remember where I wanted to return to and where I never wanted to return to. Then I got Elite status and I wrote about everything and anything.
Then Yelp got too popular and I guess they wanted to make Elite status harder to attain, as I lost that status for 2009. I'll miss the parties with free alcohol.
So that being said, I'll again use Yelp as an online bookmark for myself. Mediocre places I might skip reviewing, but great (and horrid) places I'll likely review so I can remember places I like and places to avoid.
Which brings us to CleanAir Smog Check. I got my DMV notice in the mail, requiring me to spend an afternoon getting a stupid smog check. What an annoyance!
I found these guys and decided to drop in on a Friday around 1:30pm. I was hoping that the lunch crowd, if there was one, would have gone already. They had just finished another car and moved my car right onto the testing machine thing. After a short and pleasant conversation with the tech, he informed me my car was done.
Wait, what? Already? AWESOME!
I also must have come right in a lull of activity because while I was here three more cars pulled in. They had other techs and two machines so they were able to serve those cars with the quickness, too.
Five stars because when the time comes for another smog check, I'll need this review to remind me where I want to go.
I have to agree with everyone else. Completely painless, friendly, and in and out in 15 minutes for 60 bucks.
These guys are everything you want out of a situation like this.
Fast, Friendly and Efficient!
Mention YELP and they knock off $20!
Total cost: $59.50
Brought my old 86 Toyota Celica here.
Tried out the old CRC "guaranteed to pass" fuel system cleaner which stated to run in your system until the tank was down to a quarter, but I have no patience for that. I drove out to Colma dumped it in a 3/4 tank of premium fuel then blazed back to SF.
It passed with flying colors, much to my surprise being that the CO and HC numbers were right on the border of failing in the pre-test last week.
Either their calibration is loose or the CRC really worked.
All my emissions were down by 50% worth the $9.99.
(((((((Wheeeee)))))))
Chiming in with the crowd. A quick and painless smog test experience (how odd is it to read that). Got the Yelp discount, so it was $59.95. Will definitely be going back when it is time to get our other car tested.
Okay. This has to be a new record. I left my house in Noe Valley at 3:05 on a Friday, drove to Clean Air Smog on 11th between Folsom and Harrison, got my Golf smogged, and was back home by 3:40. These guys are awesome, AND they still give the Yelp discount. They're definitely a keeper.
Extremely efficient and professional. They are so nice and made everything seem so easy. There is no other place I would ever take my car to other than them!
Ditto all the 5-star reviews. $60 total if you mention Yelp. In and out in 12 minutes. Capricorn Coffee a block away.
Is this review going to be a little biased? Yes it is, but oh well.
Tommy is a longtime friend of my cousin's. So that is why I came here. It was quick, easy, and painless. And I have no knowledge of cars. And I've never smogged a car before. You can tell because I didn't even bring in the DMV paper. But they looked up the car, and then a couple of minutes later, my freshly smogged car's smog results was sent to the state of California. Quick, easy, and painless!
Same experience for me as many of the others on here. In and out in less than 15 minutes, and the whole process was seamless.
I'm gonna do something here I'm not really that comfortable with - I'm going to write a useful review. Yesterday I had to get the car smogged so I called the CleanAir Smog Check Test-Only Center (their name is a little long) and sure enough they said come right in and we'll have it done in less than 15 minutes.
So I arrive at the place and I am greeted by the nicest woman ever and she asked me how I heard about the site.....Through the Internet....on a site called shhmumblemublehidemy embarrassment - elp.
"Oh Yelp!" she said. "You're a Yelper!"
"No I actually don't define myself as a Yelper - just a guy on the site who got laid a lot cause I wrote semi-funny reviews a few years ago now I'm just a broken man who tells stories about diapers."
"Well good for you either way! We give all Yelpers a 20 dollar discount!"
So I did find the site on Yelp, they did finish the car in less than 15 minutes, I did get a 20 dollar discount for being a shamumblmumblehidemyembarrasment - er. BUT I think they give this 20 dollar discount to everyone. Like I could have said my Eskimo friends told me about it and she would have been like,
"Awesome! People with Eskimo friends get 20 dollars off!".
Anyway, great place. Useful review. Fuck Yelp.
Fast and Friendly!!!
Wow, Clean Air Smog Check was the place to go. I took my car in to get it's smog check and it took literally less than 20mins to get it done. Just called in to see if it was a good time and drove down and got it done in no time. Technicians are friendly and easy to talk to. One technician even asked me if I wanted a chicken nugget. Now I call that customer service. Anyhow, long story made short, I passed and I can now drive my car for another two years before I can come back here again. Not sure when the best time of day to come in is, but I went towards the afternoon and there was no waiting at all.
Great find, I was in and out in about 15 mins. Nice guys working there and make sure and mention the $20 off online "coupon."
Yelp delivers again. Being (brand) new in the city, I depend on Yelp for lots of things...I turned to you for my smog test and CleanAir delivered!
Loved it! Fast, friendly and great 80s tunes in the lobby.
Thank you yelpers!
Fast! Efficient! Friendly!
I have a shitty old car (1987! w3rd!) that is required to get smogged every other year. I have graffiti on the hood, rust spots, and my back bumper is hanging on by some tricky uses of wire. Because of this, I have sampled smog test-only stations all over the city in the many years I've lived here. CleanAir is by far the most awesome place I've been to.
When I stopped by around 4pm on a friday afternoon, there was no wait at all. I was greeted by sincerely friendly employees and I took advantage of the free internet in the waiting room. They have dozens of different magazines, even fat fashion ones, so there is no shortage of reading material. However, my car was finished before I could even pick one out to read!
I am pretty sure I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. Painless, efficient, and a nice discount for yelpers. I already know that I'll be back for my next smog test in 2010.
