These ladies are a hoot. Seriously, they crack me up.
My bf scheduled an appointment for a waxing for me (I know - how great is he?) & I took advantage of a great deal he got. Claudia used a special wax direct from Paris & both she & Sandy were very knowledgable, answering all of my questions, & giving me good advice. I ended up with a wax, a bleaching, & a nice sample of facial moisturizer with a very high SPF.
Plus, their location is right down the hall from my best friend's place of employment, so I hopped down there after to say Hi to her.
I got a facial yesterday by Sandy, the owner's sister. I agree with some reviews that this place is not "spa like", it's not at all, it's just a small space with a treatment room that is very crammed - BUT - the facial was awesome and Sandy really knew her stuff. I have combination skin and have been having flair ups of moderate acne in places while being really dry in others - plus I'm a runner and the colder elements have not been forgiving to my skin. Sandy did a few mask treatments and then went to town on extractions. My overall facial lasted almost 2 hours and the price was only $90. It would have been $70 but she mildly suggested (not a pushy sell at all) a sensitive skin mask for problematic skin and that added on an additional $20. I'm not one for time of treatment add-on services, but when the treatment was so reasonably priced anyway (for downtown) I didn't mind. Overall, I loved my facial and the experience - and Sandy is a great conversationalist to boot. Not the calm and tranquility of a great spa, but honestly I seem to always feel disappointed by most spas anyway and they charge double the price. I'm very, very picky - but I will be back to this place, which for me is saying a lot.
Claudia Katra of Claudia's Skin Care is unethical, unprofessional and does not honor her own gift certificates despite being less than a year old with no expiration date written on them. Indeed, it was only about 5 months old when I tried to validate it for products, and she refused to honor them. I will never go to her Center. Ever.
Claudia, the owner of Claudia Skin Care, is both very friendly and knowledgeable about skin care. I feel completely at ease with her and trust in her abilities to provide aesthetic services.
She also offers skin care products, which I've enjoyed using. I will definitely continue seeing Claudia on an ongoing basis.
Lastly, her prices are reasonable relative to other downtown skin care centers.
My friend & I scheduled facials here because of a special. I thought it would be fun to hang out together and get pampered. When I arrived, I was told by a bossy women to get into my room immediately because they were overbooked. She would tell my friend that I was already here.
The room was small and dingy. It was not what I had anticipated.
The facial itself was pretty good. After the service, the woman was very nice to me.
I saw the other reviews for Claudia Skin Care. The only time anyone would feel rushed was when they were doing discount facials for Breast Cancer fundraising. They no longer offer those so you don't have to worry about feeling rushed.
My skin has improved 110% since I began visiting Claudia. They are professional, nice, patient and always know what treatment will work best. My skin was glowing for my wedding and I have Claudia to thank.
I have been going to Claudia Skin Care Center for several years. This is not the spa I go to to be pampered. I go to Claudia & Sandy for real work with my skin. They are the best and most knowledgeable people in the Chicagoland area on problem skin. I had severe acne that didn't respond with medications from the dermatologist & it was cleared by them. Their products are the best. If you want REAL work with your skin and not the floofy fluff of just heading to the 'spa' this is where you need to go.
My husband bought me a gift certificate for my birthday for this spa and I am sad to say it was a huge disappointment. I arrived and found that what I thought was going to be a lovely spa was in fact a cramped office space converted into a unprofessional and noisy spa space . The woman who gave me a facial told me to go into a extremely small spa room and I wound up waiting 20 minutes for her because she was going to take care of a client who walked in after me and was late . Once she began my facial she was very rough with my skin and she pushed products continuously . My facial was continuously interrupted because the technician kept leaving the room to answer the front door and when she would leave my room she would leave the door open making me feel extremely exposed. It was the worst facial and spa experience I have ever had . I am a stylist and I know the importance of customer service and professionalism and this place lacked both . I will certainly never return.
