Just a quick update...

We returned for yet another beautiful week-end by the beach for my birthday this past July and let me tell you, each time it gets better and better! I mean from pulling up to valet  to the awesome front staff to the all you can eat $9.99 breakfast, it was amazing. We did what we wanted, when we wanted, how we wanted. On top of everything we were coming to the end of our stay and getting ready head out when we were offered to stay a third night! For ONLY $89 plus tax which was about A THIRD of what we payed originally been charged...

Once again an amazing time, and we will hopefully be returning next summer...
Highly recommended, Def. 5 stars!

I stayed at the Clarion Nantasket Resort Hotel and Spa for my best friend's bachelorette party on Mother's Day weekend. The hotel is located directly across from Nantasket Beach, next to a number of small restaurant and clam shack-style places. Since we were there to stay at the hotel and to use the spa, I wanted to make seperate comments about both for other Yelpers.

The Sand Dollar Spa:

We gave the spa plenty of notice (over a month), keeping in mind that they may have a lot of people trying to book treatments on Mother's Day weekend. The spa was extremely helpful in scheduling all of our appointments (we had a group of 10), and even told us we would have the waiting room to ourselves for the afternoon, which was very nice!

I was greeted by the woman at the front desk and shown one of their large, clean bathrooms, which had small lockers (with locks) for you to store your things while you are at the spa. I changed out of my clothes and into a plush robe they provided. They had fresh fruit platter, tea, coffee, bottled water and biscotti in the waiting room, too. You could also order food from the restaurant in the hotel, Raphael's, and have it delivered up to the spa. It was a little pricey ($20 room service charge on top of the cost of the food) but we were starving! The food was great!

Overall, I was very pleased with appearance and cleanliness of the spa. The decor of the waiting room is peaceful hues of blue, brown and yellow, with splashes of green and silver. It brings that beachy feel indoors. There was relaxing music playing throughout the main area of the spa, and also in the treatment rooms. The treatment rooms were somewhat small, but very clean. I had the 60 minute chocolate mint body scrub. It smelled amazing! The aesthetician was very friendly and courteous of my privacy, which I appreciated since I had never stripped down for any kind of spa treatment before. After the scrub, she led me to the bathroom to shower off. I was amazed at how smooth my skin felt!!! However, I was a little disheartened to see that only 45 mins had passed between leaving and returning to the waiting room. I am not the type to complain about services, but I finally mustered up the courage to speak to the manager. She apologized and explained that they counted the shower as part of the total time of the treatment, and they were trying to have the menu of spa services changed to reflect the actual time of the service. I told her I didn't think showering would be part of the service, since I obviously did that on my own, and even still, the total time including the shower was only 45 mins. She offered to only charge me $60 instead of the usual $75, which I appreciated. Hopefully if more people raise awareness to management about their services running short, they will change the menu! After the scrub, I also had the 30 minute Sea Breeze Essential Facial (which lasted a full 30 minutes). My skin felt amazingly clean and refreshed, and it only cost about $45.

Hotel:

We had booked two rooms at the hotel through Sam's Club, which I was told offered a discounted rate (even less than AAA) of somewhere around $150 for the night/room. We had booked two adjoining rooms, and were told upon check-in that we could stay in the rooms for an additional night for something like $60 for each room (bonus!)  We checked in at about 11AM, went upstairs and were happy to find that the rooms were on the corner of the hotel and actually completely closed off from the main hallway (so we could make all the noise we wanted without being disruptive to other guests). However, only one of the two rooms was clean. We called the front desk to let them know, put our things in the room and headed to the the pool or spa. When we returned about an hour later, the second room had been cleaned. The staff was also very helpful in providing us with extra towels and ice buckets. Our rooms both had oceanview balconies and fireplaces, tvs, mini-fridges and coffee makers. The tub in the bathroom also had jacuzzi jets. The beds, to be honest, were not that comfortable, but considering that we were only there for one night (and to avoid having to drive after drinking) it was sufficient. Definitely not the worst mattress I've ever slept on, but I would expect better from any hotel. The only other downside to these rooms was that while they were oceanview, they were directly above the strip, so all you could hear at night was the traffic from outside. Bummer.

Aside from the short body treatment, I would HIGHLY reccomend this spa for those who are looking for affordable spa services on the south shore. Going to this hotel and spa is also great for bachelorette parties since its affordable and there are a few bars nearby on the strip (Red Parrot, Barefoot Bobs, The Sea Note, etc.) I would also recommend checking out Mezzo Mare, a hole in the wall Italian place near the hotel, that can cater to larger groups and has great food!

My family and I spent a night at this hotel and will never return. They were an hour late checking us in and when we got to our room it was still dirty. We requested more toilet paper and had to wait over an hour for someone to bring it up.

It has a nice resort price for motel service.

Also the walls must either be paper thin or we had extremely loud neighbors. It was very difficult to sleep.

MY husband, daughter and I took advantage of the buy one get one night free offer at the beginning of March and couldn't have been happier despite a minor glitch. We checked in early and went up to our room. The gas fireplace wasn't working but we made one call to the front desk and were immediately moved to another room with a working fireplace. The room was immaculate, well appointed but just a little small. Ed, the maintenance man and Cathy at the front desk were great. We didn't visit the restaurant or spa but had a great time on the beach.

This review is for the Sand Dollar Spa- not the actual hotel.

I got a massage last week- my first-ever hot stone massage.  My masseuse did a great job zoning in on the areas i mentioned were most tense- (shoulders and neck)...but she didn't even TOUCH my arms! that's the best part of a massage in my opinion.

The hot stones felt amazing and i will definitely continue to get hot stone massages...but probably not at this place.  The service was friendly and the spa was super clean...but the room was not as dark as I've seen, not as relaxing.  the window overlooks the street and you can hear the traffic down below (And i went in the winter...imagine the noise in the summer when people are actually at the beach?!)

The thing that kinda irked me was that my massage was scheduled for 60 mins and it started at 11:15...when i was told i was "all set"...the clock said noon!! i would have loved if those 15 minutes i was jipped were used to massage my arms...

I've definitely experienced better massages in more soothing environments.

Clean modern rooms right on the beach.  The service was terrific.  Free valet parking and free use of the well-stocked fitness club.  Mediocre continental breakfast Mon-Sat

Nice restaurant and bar on premises (popular but we didn't try it.)

New spa just opened but we didn't try that either.

Room was a little small, but we enjoyed the small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The gas fireplace turned on with a wall switch. I'd love to try it when it's cold out. The bathtub was fitted with jacuzzi jets.  No problems with any of the facilities or fixtures.

We were right near the ballroom, but heard no noise from either the wedding reception or the class reunion which occurred while we were there.   (seems like the walls were good and thick.)  The price was reasonable for the location and facilities and we were happy there. :)

Friendly Service.  Rooms look nice.  Good food at Raffael's Restaurant/Bar.  Friendly Waitstaff.  Now for the fun stuff...1st Room reeked of cigarette smoke.  I was told that they don't keep track of smoking/non-smoking rooms??  I was told that there is some chemical that would "turn" the smoking rooms into non-smoking rooms after 30 minutes.  Well if I was avoiding the smell of smoke...perhaps I should also avoid exposure to this chemical as well.  Then I had to go check out 3 other rooms to find the one that smelled the least like smoke...so I thought I was good for the night.  So let me watch some television...well, not all channels worked...it was fixed two nights later.  Fireplace and small jacuzzi/shower/tub in the room.  Soom rooms have small 2 person balconies with ocean views.  Located right across the street from the beach.  Fresh Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the hotel lobby during the early afternoon...yum!
