6 reviews for Clarion Hotel San Francisco Airport
Decent hotel - very reasonable rates. However, they do charge for parking AND for internet.
My beef with the internet is that it's WIRED (hello - it's 2008!), so if you're traveling with someone, you can only have one computer accessing the internet at a time. Rather inconvenient.
The beds are very comfortable! The rooms are spacious with nice large desks and comfy reading chaises. This hotel is also pet-friendly.
The bathrooms are in serious need of updating - pretty small and in disrepair. Thankfully, though, the shower has both great water pressure and hot water!
All in all, at ~$80/night for the room, it's a decent deal - close to just about everything on the Peninsula.
Oh Lord... this place is TERRIBLE!!!
My step-dad booked our first trip to Hawaii when I was in high school and we stayed here the night before our flight out of SFO early in the morning.
First of all this place was run by some shady looking people but that is not the WORST part.
When we walked into the room that we were staying in it REEKED of massive B.O. and if that weren't enough to make you dry heave there was a pair of men's hunter green, bikini underware lying on the floor SOILED!
I shit you not, no pun intended!! It was the most FOUL experience I have ever had in an hotel!
Of course we switched rooms but I still couldn't sleep that night knowing how disgusting that room was and thinking what could possibly be wrong in the one we were in! FOUL, NASTY PEOPLE!
Ok, I wasn't expecting much for $55 a night, but I figured it is a good chain, maybe I'll be surprised. I wasn't. While the rooms are large and clean with a spacious desk and a comfortable bed, everything is kind of dated. The halls are in desperate need of a makeover. The only in-room internet access is wired. Trying to use the business center PCs to print out my boarding pass for free was useless and I ended up hooking the printer directly to my laptop (which I am sure I am not allowed to do). My room was a long haul from the elevators. Was this because I got the AAA rate? Don't know, but arriving in San Francisco & departing, I was placed way at the end of the very long hall. The hotel is real convenient to the airport though. The pool area looked nice (didn't take a dip, too cold for me). The do charge for parking... $10.00 overnight. I'd stay here again before flying in or out of SFO, but I wouldn't choose to stay her for anything more than that.
One the positive side, this hotel, is conveniently located right next to the SF airport for travelers. The beds are very comfortable too.
BUT OTHER THAN THAT this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. Have you ever lived right next to a rail road track? Where every hour or so you hear the rumbling of a passing train? Well, imagine that loud rumbling... but every 30 minutes, and ten times louder! From my room, I could hear the constant (day and night) shooosh of jet engines for every plane that took off the runway.
And they charge for parking? What the heck? They have a on duty "guard" to check you upon leaving the parking lot... made it feel more like a prison. I told my friends not to come inside the gate because I didn't want them to get charged.
When I checked in, the clerks at the front desk said they couldn't find the check that I had mailed in earlier. Finally they called their accounting department, and said it would be resolved by the next morning. I kept all my receipts.
Upon checking out several days later, they got confused AGAIN and said they owed me $35 bucks since they had charged me too much, so the man gave me some money back. 10 minutes later he discovered that he had made a mistake. Then he asked that I return the $35 he just gave me. Very unprofessional.
What a dump! This place was once a good place to stay, but somebody aint takin care of business! It's probably about to lose its affiliation with Clarion because it is really rundown. I think somebody from India must have bought it and is just letting it go to hell and making a few bucks until they won't let him call it a Clarion anymore! Then you can stay there for $39.95!!!!! It's a 1 star at best. I'm cheap but not that cheap! Stay nexy door at the Westin if you need to catch a flight.

I was here the first weekend in Feb 2007. The meeting rooms were spacious and well equiped. I was in a single (king bed) room. Although, my room didn't have a refrigerator, the bed and the plush reading chair were very comfortable. Its a nice place to stay if you need a room near SFO.
