the mission: find something unique and different to do in the middle of summer in claremont.
solution: head to the driving range!
twas my first time at a driving range and claremont golf course offered a good experience. fellow patrons were chill and staff was helpful if not the most friendly. between the three of us we split 2 large buckets of balls ($10 per bucket) and spent the next 2 hours sometimes-contacting, variably aiming our balls throughout the range.
adequate spaces to play with seats arranged behind to lounge (oh, how this afternoon called for a cool beer or two!), vending machines in the pro shop with snacks, cool drinks, and a coffee machine, and relatively clean bathrooms. however, i could see how other reviewers could request some TLC for the course but for the price, a better way to spend the afternoon than stuck in a movie theater.
Chewed up 9 hole muni course. A couple short par 4's and one decent sized dog leg one. Easy to walk on here at any time. Fairways and tee boxed are in bad shape. Hard to find a place to tee it up often. This place needs some TLC put into it.

Fun little course, but can use some work. Sometimes the tee boxes are so far off from the listed… Read more »
I have been playing at this course all my life. It is located on the edge of a small mesa, bordering the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens, which I believe, is the largest collection of plant life indigenous to California in the world. Anyway, the course has not gone through many changes over the years, but it's most recent owners have done a decent job of keeping the nine hole course in shape. You hit off real turf tee boxes, not plastic mats. There are 5 par 3s and 4 par 4s, so you get a couple of chances to pull out your driver/fairway wood. The greens are pretty decent, a few are severely sloped, and the pin placements can be sometimes questionable. They have a driving range (fake-turf mats) and two small practice putting greens. The price is $13 weekday ($9 twilight). I would not recommend going on the weekend unless you won't mind waiting three groups deep on every tee.
Great little course. Small 9 hole course nestles in a nature preserve area. It's really quite and I've seen all kinds of wildlife there. Course is on the easier side and only about 10 dollars to play.
