Oh Claddagh Cottage how I miss thee. By far my favorite bar in Florida. Actually, my favorite bar PERIOD. I never posted a review about this place when I lived in Orlando because honestly, I didn't want anyone to come and take my favorite seat at the bar.
Now that I'm gone I can freely express my feelings and send as many people to this establishment as I can because the staff and owners deserve the business.
Let's start with the food. The chicken and mushroom pie was my choice or the dubliner was always a back up if I felt like being a total fat ass. The food is traditional Irish cooking that tastes as if your crazy Irish grandmother was in the kitchen all day.
Now the beer. I don't believe I've had anything other then Guinness. I'm not sure how but it's the best tasting Guinness short of going to St James Gate in Dublin. And cheap too!!!! If I remember correctly, $4.25 for a 20oz pour. Try and find that nonsense anywhere else in Orlando.
Now to the atmosphere. The Cottage is decorated with dark wood giving it the traditional Irish feel. One pool table and 4 dart boards will keep you busy while you consume one pint after another. Bartenders are always friendly and quick.
Ive seen one or two crazy things here that make for good stories years down the road (one was some old guy taking out is glass eye screaming "I'm going to keep an eye on you") but overall, super laid back and perfect if you're by yourself or with a group.
Now that I've spilled my guts about The Cottage, go grab a beer, have some food and just enjoy for yourself. Don't bring your drama here and make this place change. One day I will be back to Central Florida and I will stop in for a pint and a pie. There better not be anyone sitting in my seat.
Enjoy guys!!!! -

My favorite Irish pub in Orlando, no exceptions. I've been coming here since my college days in the 1990's and throughout that time, this place has remained consistently exceptional.
Awards hang on the walls for their perfect Guinness pours, and with good reason. The food is amazing. If you're in the mood for a sandwich, the Dubliner will exceed your expectations with perfectly crunchy bread and a mound of meat with sautéed onions and melted cheese. The cottage pie is fantastic, and don't even get me started on the steak & mushroom pie with the handmade crust that I'd pay good money to be able to reproduce at home.
The interior is dimly lit and features some sort of faux-stone material in parts, almost making it look like it was etched out of a cave or something, and the all-wood furniture feels classic and well-worn. All in all, as soon as you walk in from the craptastic strip mall parking lot, you feel like you're in a pub that's been around for 100 years. There are four dart boards (steel tip, with chalkboard scoring) that we always head for, and a pool table that doesn't seem to see much use.
The place seems to have gotten much more popular in recent years, which I'm happy about because they deserve it. But a little piece of me did enjoy being the "outsider" long ago, although the owner knew me by name, I'd be the only one in the room from staff to patron without an Irish accent. -

My husband and I try to go to Claddagh's at least once a month, and love taking our friends when they visit from Miami. It is intimate, dark, and not pretentious. Tucked between a funeral home, and a Dominican Hair Salon...It is a great place to sit around and just talk and people watch. The owners and servers are usually very attentive, although usually there's only two people working at the place at a time, so if the pub is a bit crowded you may have to go directly to the bar to order your drinks and food. Also, the music is usually quite good, usually whoever is working hooks up their laptop to the sound system and you hear an endless play list of anything from the Drop Kick Murphy's to the Smiths. And for you sports fans there's a few TVs, 2 darts boards, a pull down screen for really big games (world cup, super bowl etc.) and a pool table!
They pour an awesome pint of Guinness, and always have Magners on draft in case you'd like have a black velvet. However this pub does not serve liquor (just beers, ciders, and wines).
As for the food....they have a small menu, but it is great! Their stews and fillings for the meat and cottage pies are made every morning...and I would swear that they bake their rolls or cut some crazy deal with a local bakery to obtain the freshest ones in Orlando (which are served with real butter). My favorite pie is the steak and mushroom! They also have a few sandwiches on the menu, including my husband's favorite "The Dubliner" (Thick cut ham and Cheese I believe, served with chips). And some great starters like the Scotch egg (hard boiled egg with a sausage case baked on to it), and sausage rolls (sausages wrapped in pastry dough) both are served HP sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a roll with butter.
Overall, this place is awesome, and worth a try!
And on a side-note although I personally have not been able to make it: every other Wednesday there is a group of musicians that meets there for jam sessions of traditional Irish music. Their site is below:

Claddagh has an authentic pub atmosphere with loud Irish music and a dimly-lit ambiance. They pour a great pint of Guinness for $4.50. I went around 9 pm on a Saturday night and only one bartender was working, but he worked his arse off and was friendly. While I didn't eat, I overheard different guests from different groups comment how good the food was while paying. I need to come back to try the food - and a black velvet. There are also dart boards towards the back of the pub. Check it out, it is a quaint little place. I'll be going back for dinner soon.

So I frequent this place quite a bit. Its a small place with low lights and a quaint atmosphere. It kind of run down, but in truth that's the way I like it. The place is cozy and the people are friendly. They Serve beer and wine only, no full bar ((if you want a full bar you can try their big brother, the Harp and Celt)). One thing they take seriously here is their Guinness, it makes it well worth it, I don't think I have ever been disappointed by a pint here.
As far as the menu goes, its small I think you can count all the items on two hands. Not that it matter though because the few items they do have they put their heart and soul into. I always have the Scottish eggs, which are delicious. Then I will usually follow up with one of their exquisite cottage pies. This place may not have it all, but what they do have they do dang well. -

I love this place! I've driven past it at least a hundred times and always told myself that I would stop in to check it out. I'm so glad I did. It's cozy and intimate and a great place to kick back after a long week of work. I went on a Friday night and it was exactly what I needed.
They have an impressive beer selection (Guinness, Smithwicks, Newcastle etc...) and an a small but excellent menu.
My husband had a Steak and Mushroom meat pie which was fabulous. I had the Irish Stew which was flavorful, tender and delicious. The prices are great also.
This is a great place if you're just looking to hang out with a pint and have a drink without dealing with the crowded and obnoxious downtown scene. -

The Claddagh Cottage is everything that a real pub should try to be.
It is dark, cozy and welcoming. Plenty of seating at the bar, a booth or at a high or low top table. This is the kind of place that you want to absorb when you walk through the door. It feels like home to many and you'll see why before too long.
The quality and taste of their food easily competes with--and sets them apart from--most restaurants I've ever been to, let alone whatever kind of food you'd expect to find in a bar atmosphere. The Cottage Pie is a sheperd's pie that you will literally dream about. It is heavenly! If you like pot roast, try the monster of a sandwich known as The Dubliner. It's succulent and hearty. If you're not terribly hungry but want a snack, "there's an app for that." Appetizer, that is. Get the scotch egg, or the sausage rolls.
There are real dartboards and pool tables for your enjoyment. The bartenders are very friendly and they will learn your name and use it!
It's wonderful place to meet a friend, have a casual date or bring your co-workers for happy hour. Additionally, they usually throw fun parties on holidays.Listed in: Conway, right this way!

At the risk of allowing others to discover my favorite pub in Orlando, I feel compelled to give the guys and gals at Claddagh Cottage a superb rating.
The staff is ALWAYS friendly, and the crowd is an interesting mix of people who all just want to have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to put on airs or impress someone, keep on driving to the Orange Ave bars. CC is about beer, darts, a little pool, and lots of good times with friends.
Some nights they play an awesome selection of Brit pop/alt music. Thankfully for some of us, the bar is non-smoking; there are benches outside the front door for those that need a nicotine fix.
Claddagh Cottage is located just west of Conway Road on Curry Ford Road across from CVS and Blockbuster. It is in a small strip center next to (no kidding) a funeral home. -

I'd like to thank God and Nick for allowing me to discover this place. The Cottage as its more commonly known as is a classic Irish Pub with an amazing atmosphere and interesting people as its patrons.
They have the best Guinness pour in town... those of you who are fans will appreciate their 3 min pour.
The food also is extremely good, i recommend the Shepard's Pie.
One of the best evenings to come is Wednesdays as you can appreciate a group of musicians playing celtic music. They are fun to listen to. -

Two words. Meat pie.
That's what you get at the Claddagh Cottage and they are fantastic. The first time I went here, I had a hard time finding the place, try googling "Claddagh" when you don't know a hint of Gaelic.
Nevertheless, I can parrot most of the prior reviews here in terms of the Guinness pour, which is proper, the friendly staff, who all seem straight off the boat and of course the meat pies, which are down right delicious.
While still in a strip mall, walking inside feels like you've entered an old Irish den, dark and cozy, almost like stepping into a tenement museum without the poor ventilation and crowded conditions.
It's an awesome joint to grab a bunch of buddies, a round of beers, all while measuring masculinity over a game of darts, all in good fun. -

Great Irish Bar. The Cottage pie seemed very fresh, properly seasoned, well cooked, and well.. it was delicious! The pints were tasty and cold in a clean glass. The service was *AWESOME*. The bartender was tending to the entire bar - quickly and efficiently, as well as serving tables, keeping the place tidy, and all while being very friendly and Irish! I wish every bartender in this city was this great.

We live really close to this perfect pub. Its non smoking, with a good atmosphere. Dark but not too dark. Music, but not too loud. Food was good for the price. Beer and wine only, so I am not tempted to get too drunk. I love it!

The cottage is my favorite bar. i love the dark wood decor. The music is great the staff is awesome, the owners are very cool and the dubliner sliced beef sandwich is delishious! Also they have a pool table and dart boards. Beer selection includes Smithwicks, Guinness, all the normal beers you would expect. Great place to have get togethers or reserve the back room for formal parties.

Great Irish pub/restauraunt that I don't visit nearly often enough. The shepherd's pie is an absolute must. Outdoor smoking only, so you're sure to make a few friends while sitting on the bench out front. Grab a beer from the bar and then hang a right near the door, and check out the larger room - there's something odd protruding from the far wall that you have to see to believe. :)

Review from Dan B.
As far as dive bars go, it's a decent place. I tried Smithwick's beer and it was great. I like the Irish decor, the British Isles music, and the fact that there aren't many people there. What I don't like: the food. First of all, the food is microwaved. I kid you not. If at least your pallet didn't tell you that, then maybe the bartender running into the kitchen everytime the microwave beeps is a more compelling sign. I had the cottage pie. I swear to God, the Shephard's Pie at Cheesecake Factory is at least 10X better. I do prefer to get my Shephard's Pie at Irish pubs, but not if it's going to be microwaved and tasteless. The guys next to me ordered a sandwich of some sort and sure enough, the bartender ran into the kitchen, typed some buttons, and a few minutes later, the microwaved beeped and voila their sandwich was ready. So, the story is to not get the food unless you don't mind microwaved food you could've easily made at home for less money and tastier. If, however, you're in the neighborhood and want to hang out in a pretty decent Irish bar for the beer and the calm atmosphere, this is a good place to go. Bartender told us that Wednesdays they some music or something.
