I've also experienced the security problem at this city park garage. My car had been there a grand total of two weeks (in and out) before someone smashed the window. Nothing was visible in the car at all, yet they broke in and took a portable gps from the glove box.

City park says "it's archstone's responsibility to have cameras"
archstone says "it's city park's responsibility to have cameras"

Never a bigger bunch of blame passers have I seen... I gave up and moved my car (and monthly payment) across the street to the parking lot there which is super clean, and FEELS really secure. (I used to park there before I moved into archstone).

Even talking to the management of either archstone or city park about the parking problems gives you an impression of dodgy individuals...

It's hard to imagine getting attached to a parking garage, but this place is dear to my heart. In my 2 years of being a monthly parker here, I have had nothing but satisfaction. Too bad I can't say the same thing for the apartment I lived in located just above the garage (see yelp review soon to follow).

Great places do not run themselves. They require responsible employees who are dedicated to their jobs. The main guy here, Andy, is dependable, fair, and hard-working. Whenever I had a parking issue (which was rare), I knew I could always get things taken care of right away. Any major issues usually turned out to the fault of Archstone South Market Apartments. The garage is attached to the apt so the APARTMENT (and not city park) is responsible for elevator maintenance, gates, etc. This is a joke, of course, as Archstone Properties is not known for doing anything responsible. God forbid they have to spend money on anything.

A major point of note: During my first year there, I often parked on the very top level. One day, I found caulking dripped right on the hood of my car. I approached Andy with the problem, and he got on it right away. As you can imagine, the top management wasn't so keen on paying for my car to be repainted & fixed. However, Andy made sure that the right thing was done by making tons of phone calls on my behalf and making sure that my car was taken care of. I gained a lot of respect for that man through this because he definitely wasn't very popular with the management after taking my side. Yet time after time, he has never let that stop him from doing the fair thing. He treats your car like its his own.

The garage is also opened for $5 parking all day on weekends. It's a short walk to MOMA, the Metreon, and Westfield Mall. In SOMA, you can't find a better deal than that.

I can vouch for everything Erin M. said. There are about 450 spaces in this three-level garage, where I've never been able to not find a space. They told me when I signed up that, as a monthly parker, they would find me a space if I couldn't, although I've never had to take them up on that offer.

Automatic debits are convenient and I'm surprised the price hasn't changed in the past two years like my rent has.

Residents of the apartment complex have after-hours access to the entrance doors.

Three-level garage parking. I pay monthly, it's an arm-and-a-leg, but it's the least expensive option in the three blocks radius of my office (yes, three blocks is as far as I'm willing to go).

You park yourself, and you can enter and exit at any time. The same two gentlemen staff the booth -- I like the consistency and that they know me and my car. Automatic debit payment makes it so I don't forget to pay.

The only problem I have is that if you want to get to your car after 7pm, you have to enter through the plaza lobby; the regular entrance doors are locked.
