Such a great place, and amazingly affordable! Their furniture is so great because it is small scale furniture to fit in a City Home! I would describe the style as eclectic mix of many, you could easily pull together your Grandmother's antique chest with a funky chair or end table!
They also carry Devine paint which I am very fond of, you can buy exact paint portions (not the ink) actual paint, or you can buy pouches that have a sample of the paint that you can try out in your home!
Over all I have been extremely satisfied with the business I have done here. Excellent customer service as well I might add!
Went here twice with intent on buying a specific item, had $1000 cash bonus from work burnin' a hole in my pocket. Wanted to walk out with the item that day.
Twice I was ignored. And I was the only person in the store.
I've been given attention there before, however when I went to buy I came right after work wearing jeans a sweatshirt.
Guess I wasn't Capitol Hill "chic" enough. :(
Robin is a Great Salesperson
Waked in looking for a rug. Robin patiently walked me through their entire collection, (on the floor and catalogue). We finally found a great rug for my apt, and a week later I walked out the door with it. She was very professional and a great salesperson.
The prices are reasonable and there's a pretty good selection of furniture, rugs etc. There is a woman who works there who is really, really afraid of dogs, so if there is a dog in a part of the store, she will refuse to go in that part of the store to help you. That's kind of dumb.
I had such high hopes. I'm a design-conscious adult, I live in a small space, and I can never find nice furniture that will fit in the space. So when I heard a store that catered to small spaces was opening on Capitol Hill, I got myself down there, fast.
Then I walked in. Sigh. The first thing I saw was a big upholstered chair with a pillow on it shaped like a woman's lips. Cliche. Down market. I tried to put that impression aside but couldn't when the whole store is filled with tasteless kitsch like the pillow. I tried to look past that to the furniture. It's really not all THAT small, and the fabrics...cheap. Poor design (animal print seems to pass for chic here), coarse to the touch. The construction...cheap.
I'm guessing I'm not their target demographic. By the looks of the place the target demographic is 23 with a first job living somewhere off of Broadway in a small rental, probably with those IKEA wave mirrors somewhere in the apartment. City Home Store is probably great if that's you. Meanwhile, I'm still hunting for a store that sells nice furniture for small spaces.
This is a great home furnishings store with pretty reasonable prices. Not everything is super-compact for tiny apartment living, but they have an interesting selection. I'd definitely check this place out before making a trek down to the giant Swedish store in Renton. Personally I love City Home Store's clearance section in the basement--with great prices on everything from candles, to pillows and furniture.
We bought a dining room table, chairs, and a shelf here. When we first purchased the items, the guys who helped us were great. There were some delivery delays due to the holidays, but whenever I called every person who answered the phone was happy to check on the items for me. We decided to return two of the chairs, and they were happy to take them back for store credit.
Overall, my experience with City Home Store was very good. The items we purchased are great quality, at a reasonable price, and we always treated well. They have lots of items for smaller homes, which can be hard to find.
They have always been great to work with. Very prompt.
