This library is enormous- larger than San Francisco's public libraries, except for the Main branch. The difference between the Main Library and the Rosenberg Library is that, here, books are geared toward educational disciplines. With that said, the fiction collection is modest. If you're looking for classics or a New York Time's Bestseller, you'll probably find it. However, if you need your fix of trade paperback fiction, you're out of luck.
As previous reviewers have said, the Rosenberg Library if you need a quiet spot to study. It's better than a cafe when you need to crack down for finals, or when you simply don't want to order your third coffee of the day. Though you can't check out materials if you aren't enrolled in classes, the study spaces are open to anyone in the community! Check for hours online before you go though; they change every season.
This is a library that was planned by the architect with an eye for a great view, good floor plan, great light on the main entry floor and good library management of inventory (unlike the cursed new Main Library planned under the Mayorship of WeeWillieBrownie's free books giveaway to Shanghai and dumpster dumping circa ....1990s.)
But as one descends into hellhole, the light gets dim and darker. Not for all, was it planned for spiritual goths and visigoths?

Infodiva is a student right now @ CCSF. I am in the Library Program.
I have something like 200+ credits/units at CCSF. I speak from experience. The Library will libraries in general are neglected, misunderstood, under-utilized.
Ok let me step down off of my "soap box" hahaha
Infodiva once again here with the 411 people. Don't Sleep on Your Education. Go Back Today. Don't Sleep on the Beautiful CCSF Rosenberg Library. You will be glad you did.

This is one of the best places to study, take a nap, or do your homework at. The library is dead quiet when groups are not in the library talking among themselves. There are 3 floors, but the top floor is the best spot to study at because of the light from the outside. The bottom floor is pretty dead and dark, I prefer not to go down there.
I used to go to this library when I was in college. Believe it or not, this place is quite and there are tons of resources. I really feel that people who are not CCSF student should take advantage of this library. The staff is helpful and it's uber quiet. I know it's hard to believe but I highly recommend this place for both studying and perusing literature of any kind.
I love this place! After class I would go upstairs, find a nice little cubby, put on my earphones, play some Journey, eat a sandwich then take a nap!
Even to this day, no one has dared to wake me up.

Although the campus itself is pretty crappy, one thing that makes up for it is Rosenberg Library. I love reading and studying here. Occasionally I'll find myself a nice spot in the back of the fifth floor labeled the 'Quiet Zone' and take nap. The fifth floor has really nice views of the city if you sit by the window on a clear day. The fifth floor also has the cleanest bathroom compared to the fourth. Anyway, if you come here with a friend, you can reserve a study room for up to two hours. It's quiteee nice. The librarians are also very helpful when offering assistance.

I used to work here and I actually miss it sometimes. If it weren't for all the crazies I dealt with (yes, some students with serious mental disorders such as schizophrenia and they were potential threats to others) i'd probably go back and visit my former co-workers.
For the most part, it's clean.
It's really really quie
Free tutoring! And it's available for nearly every subject! What more could you ask for?!t...
The only thing that freaks me out is the sex stories i've heard about the library.

What a load of shit, when the local junior college library pwnz the library of the nearby major university.
I do much of my SFSU research here, luckily they give library cards to San Francisco residents.
Although I am no longer a student at City College, this ten year old library is the best place to do your reading, even if you're not a student. It has 3 huge floors, where students do there homework, read or sleep. All San Francisco public library are noisy and dirty. This library is so quiet, you can hear a pin drop. I spend my day-off at this library just to read, plus they close late. Prefer this library over San Francisco State's.
