I can only speak to breakfast... but it was amazing. I had the lobster, cream cheese and spinach omelette -- out of this world! And my husband had the "Egg in the Hole" with canadian bacon and about a stick and a half of butter. Man oh man.

The night before I ended up getting an allergic reaction, which really screwed up our anniversary dinner. Having a fantastic breakfast the day after helped make amends. Great service, too!

This place is pricey and you wouldn't know if from the food.  I had the pork, it was kind of tough and chewy which was disappointing.  It came w/ grits which were yummy but 30 bucks yummy?  NO.  The food just wasn't of that caliber.  PS, the day I went they didn't offer two of their dinner selections, there's only like 6 things on menu to begin w/, WTH!?

This place is among San Antonio's best kept culinary secrets. Tucked into the gorgeous Hotel Valencia off of the Riverwalk, Citrus offers a solid fine-dining experience, and attractive ambiance both in the indoor dining area and the patio overlooking the river.

The crab cake, with toasted pumpkin seed, avocado coulis, and mesclan salad, is phenomenal. I've also been extremely happy with their various dishes involving duck, venison chops, and scallops (not all together!).

The aptly-named "V-Bar" is right outside of the restaurant, and presents an attractive atmosphere for a good aperitif.

Great place in San Antonio for a tasty and romantic dinner. The waitstaff is helpful but can be slow. The food, however, more than makes up for the wait. They offer two prix fixe options (3 course or 4 course), but we simply ordered a la carte. Portions are a good size - my husband's elk appetizer was delicious and could have easily been an entree. Our cinnamon croissant bread pudding was heavenly with a cup of coffee.

When I think of the Riverwalk, I don't exactly think of fine dining.  Therefore, I was delighted to stumble upon Citrus, housed in the gorgeous Hotel Valencia.  Walking into Citrus from the Riverwalk is like entering a different city.  The decor is understated and elegant, the service was attentive but not intrusive, and the food was excellent.

I had a very unique entree - duck breast, stuffed with quail, stuffed with duck sausage with sweet potato apple pancakes and a hard cider reduction.  Crazy!  And fantastic!!  I wish I could remember what my mom had; something equally delicious.  We split the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert, and it was like no other cheesecake I've ever tasted.

The food was somewhat pricy compared to the other restaurants in the area, but well worth the splurge.  Without a doubt, this restaurant will be on the top of my list every time I visit San Antonio.

First, one of the best crab cakes I've ever had. And I've had crab cakes on the  East Coast and the west.  All crab, no filler, perfect seasoning and accompaniments.  It's worth it to go to citrus and have the crab cakes and a glass of wine on the balcony.

BUT the place is really worthwhile for the price fix meal.  3 courses for $55, and 4 for $68 -- what a bargain.

In addition to crab cake we had the kampachi with ponzu sauce. Melt in your mouth with just the barest taste of fresh fish.  The lobster lollipops were beautifully presented with four almost golf-ball sizes of lobster meat  (not quite golf ball but bigger than a walnut and smaller than a golf ball) with a crunchy and slightly sweet coating on the end of sturdy sticks.

Tenderloin was perfectly cooked, and my fish dish as well.

If you are a bread pudding fan, the cinnamon croissant pudding is flavorful and not too sweet, and tasted like it was infused with butter. Often chocolate desserts can be a let down because they are not chocolaty enough for my chocoholics soul, but at citrus the dark chocolate gateau did not disappoint.

Good selections on the wine list.

The only reason why I gave this a 4 and not a 5 was our waiter's attire (would give a 4.5 if I could). While very helpful and attentive, he was extremely casual with a partly tucked in wrinkled shirt and one of those long chains tucked in and hanging off the back pocket. While there are certain restaurants where the grungy casual look might be the rage, for a place like this that works hard to successfully present a fancy, sophisticated ambiance, the wait staff needs to pay more attention to personal details.

Had breakfast and dinner at Citrus at the Valencia Hotel. Very pricey for San Antonio and the quality didn't come close to that the Vancouver or SF restaurants which fall into a similar price-bracket. By way of example, the prawn appetizer that I tried was acrid and fishy and the grouper, while having a nice texture, was paired poorly. On the good side, the wine-list was reasonable and the dinner service was decent (outside of the waiter going through the entire menu before taking our drink order).
