Before Horizons opened, Citrus was hands down my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia and it's still in my top five or so.  Citrus is a tiny BYOB (we're talking like 8 or so tables), and it can be hard to get a table if you're more than two people since they don't take reservations.  It's so worth it, though.  They'll take your number and you can head across the street to Solaris Grill or the Chestnut Hill Hotel for drinks until a table opens up.

We always start our meal at Citrus with gougeres, which are these weird little mini-popovers with capers in them.  Strange and delicious!  As for the entrees, they are not exclusively vegetarian -- actually, the menu is probably about 60% seafood/fish dishes, and 40% vegetarian/vegan dishes, with at least one vegan entree on the menu at any given time.  The vegetarian dish is often some kind of pasta, like canneloni or something similar, whereas the vegan dishes tend to be a little more adventurous.  However, we always have to save room for dessert because the dessert offerings at Citrus are pretty great.  They do an awesome job of plating the desserts - you order a brownie or something and it comes with tons of fruit, whipped cream, etc. on the side.

This restaurant has a no-fur policy, which is odd given their willingness to serve animal products, but I guess if you're going to have such a policy in Philly it would be in Chestnut Hill!  It's never bothered me, but then again I can't fathom the idea of wearing fur to begin with.

    1. BYOB.
    2. Exclusively fish and vegetarian.  Like yours truly.
    3. Banana salsa over raw tuna?  hells yes.  (Though they call this ceviche, and since the Tuna is raw and not even slightly cured, its a misnomer.  I suggest they call it tuna tar tar with banana salsa and lime juice.)
    4. All of these comments are useless since the restaurant is closing at the end of the month.  Even though my dining companion and I told people that we would buy and open it, you can kiss Citrus bye bye.
    5. Arctic char is basically salmon.
