I'm a fan of this place for sure. Here is my only gripe for the (Saturday) night i was there: The place is too small.
We got a table and yea there was a bunch of us, but their isn't very much space to Citrine. It's built like a very long hallway, when i walked in and saw the decor, even though it was nice, I got the feeling I was in a rich friend's really big living room! It was weird, maybe where the DJ was situated above a giant TV made it seem like that, either way, there wasn't enough room for the people who were there. Also, I felt like everyone left kinda early, but that helped, because then we got more room!
Besides that though it was a great time. The DJ (whose name i believe is DJ Tanner, but don't hold me to that) was absolutely ON POINT. I cannot stress how awesome he was on Saturday. Even my girlfriend commented on how well he was spinning, and she NEVER talks about the DJ unless they sukk. I've never heard her compliment one until Saturday nite. The DJ alone gave it 4 stars to start. At the end of the day, a club is only as fun as it's DJ, and this guy left nothing up to chance as they say...I thought it was a great time and will be looking forward to going here in the future.

I will begin my review by clarifying that I headed to Citrine for a Wednesday evening happy hour, which might be tainting my opinion of this being a lame spot. I arrived to meet my friend and found the bar essentially empty, aside from our group. By around 8 pm, another bunch of companions had shown up and began to shatter our eardrums with horrendous karaoke singing to the likes of "Over the Rainbow" and other terrible tunes. I did not sample the bar's reasonable beverages, though I could have used one to divert my attention from the tone-deaf performance occurring next to me.
I would be willing to revisit the stylish Citrine ONLY on a weekend, though I would consider it purely a first stop on my nightly itinerary.
As I made my way through the packed dance floor, already well into my night, I noticed a giant Clown face on the wall - not unlike one of Joker's goons straight out of the Dark Knight. The taunting face sat below the DJ, who like a king looking over his people stood way above the crowd looking out, shaking the floor with his solid beats. The women were tall and beautiful, scantily clad and gyrating with the music. The men were dressed to the nines, with the typical polos and button downs intermixed with suits and blazers. The drinks were coming not from a bar, but from the bottles sitting on tables lining the walls on both sides.
After making some friends, I quickly realized that this was not a casual hangout, but a full out bottle service lounge with bouncers that were extremely wary of the dude/lady ratio - I had waited about 10 minutes in line with my buddies to get in, while gorgeous women were walking right in; it's that kind of place.
Overall: if you're looking for a full-out club with bottle service and beautiful people, and you're not worried about how much lighter your wallet will be in the morning, this is a solid choice. The place was bumping on a Thursday night, the music was good, and the bottles were never empty.
Would I come back? If I was invited, definitely; but not on my own. I paid a $10 cover (but I got my money's worth from the bottles inside) and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery, but this is a once-in-a-while shot.
-1 star for being a bit too crowded, and -1 star for the asshole bouncer who told us we had to walk to the end of the block, because we couldn't be within a mile of the door (we lost one of my buddies on the way out and were waiting for him to come out, but we were nowhere near the door). Completely unnecessary. At least it was fun inside.

I went on a Tuesday night and it was a lot of fun.. The decor was really pretty and the music was great
A clubby club space with the expected brazen chandeliers, faux-leather booths booths, and sparklers to accompany the purchase of champagne. In case someone in the back didn't see your order.
the dj was having an identity crisis. a half hour of house, then a string of pop, then a slew of hip-hop. the place is packed and tiny, rendering the dancefloor completely useless for dancing. the crowd is made up of scantily clad bleach-blondes and greased up men in button-down paisley shirts. $8 for an amstel light? definitely not my scene. sorry citrine, i will likely never step foot through your doors again.
I don't think I could have gotten into this place without my more attractive female friend.
A friend had her wedding afterparty at this venue this past weekend, and it was a much shorter night than expected. We didn't have any issues with the bouncers like many of the others here, but perhaps that was because we were on the list for the party.
We got there around midnight on Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. The space, though small, was decorated pretty well.
I got to the bar and ordered a few beers ($8 each) and paid in cash, remembering to tip the bartender. That's pretty much where all the positives of the night ended.
The newlyweds came by so I ordered a round of Goose shots (straight, unchilled) with a couple of OJ backs. For this one, I decided to pay with my credit card.
BIG MISTAKE. The shots themselves were $15. Although a bit pricey, I was ok with that. I completely understand that you pay more for shots at nicer places. However, she also charged me $6 EACH for the two orange juice backs. I thought it may have just been a mistake so I asked politely, "Do you usually charge for juice backs?" She replies "Uh... Always", and turns away as if it was the most ridiculous thing she had heard.
Then, as I go to sign my credit card slip, I notice that 20% gratuity was added. WHAT??? It wasn't as if I wasn't tipping previously, so I imagine it's just their ridiculous policy to grat all credit card payments. I looked around to see if such a policy was posted anywhere, but it was not.
I put a nice line through "Additional Tip" and returned the slip. I was tempted to be a smart ass and ask her for a Goose and OJ, with the OJ on the side, but if she was going to grat me 20% for simply pouring out shots, who knew how much it would be for actually having to make something.
Needless to say, I am never going back.
I recommend anybody else reading this do the same.
I would defintely party here again! Great crowd, good music, and just a really good time. It was a little small so it makes it more exclusive, but theres a enough space to dance! Definitely would recommend those looking for a lounge to have a good time at.
slightly trashy crowd but awesomeeeeeee dj! the place itself is open, nicely designed and people go here to DANCE. Will return!
Citrine is one of the best and hottest NY Lounges/Clubs in NY with a fabulous decor and young and vibrant atmosphere, Table reservations are suggested for large groups, make sure to show up early or you might have to wait on line due to a super-packed popular spot status; all thanks to the vision of David Rodolitz, Sachi & Adam Elzer who really know how to rock a party!

Went here on a Friday night while visiting NYC. There was a small line but they weren't letting many people in. Got in and the place was packed - small/medium sized lounge with a small dance floor in the back. Music was mashup, which I usually dislike, but it was OK b/c at least they were spinning good songs - mostly hip hop. No cover so that was good. It was really crowded when we first got there, but the crowd dissipated as the night went on. People were dancing on ledges that aligned the sides of the walls. Fun but forgetable.

The spot itself is pretty for it's size..it does get kind of cramped when people start dancing though...the dj is decent but the drinks are way overpriced. An ok place to chill with friends.
Good looking place and the DJ was playing some good beats. No cover is always a plus. Can get crowded quick since space is pretty limited. Overall, a pretty chill spot if you're hanging with friends.

The bathroom attendant, on his stool, legs sprawled out, easily took up half the bathroom -- wouldn't hand me paper towels but exhaled loudly when I didn't tip him. The coatcheck woman was too busy text messaging to do her job, so I just kept my coat. The bartenders were friendly, but all the drinks are too expensive and the music was just bad... The waitresses are extremely aggressive with removing drinks, even when they're not even near finished... There was food at the holiday party, it was all terrible (salty "steak," for some reason covered with peanut butter) -- but 4 bottles of champagne later I left when the door person downstairs wouldn't let my two male friends in because "it ain't no frickin' sausage party yo."

We were able to get in with friends but this place had the best music. Every song was great! The drinks kept coming and we had a great time. People were on the ledge dancing it was a blast!
I had my birthday party here and it was great. Fantastic music, good crowd, and they comped us champagne which was very generous. The decor is not super fancy but it's modern and fresh looking. This place has all the ingredients necessary for a really good time. Now that Upstairs closed I think this is a good alternative.
I should start by saying I'm the kind of person who likes expensive clubs. I realize there may be a line, I realize the drinks won't be cheap, but Citrine is all pretension with no substance. We had a friend who had a table and they still wouldn't let us in until the person who booked the table finally showed up and screamed at them for half an hour. When we finally got in it couldn't have been more mediocre. The music improved as the night went on, but it was way too loud for such a small space. The space itself is nothing special at all.
Now on to the ridiculously priced drinks. 2 vodka sodas = $36. Oh and if you pay by credit card they automatically add in a 20% tip. I have never been so underwhelmed by a club in my life. If I'm going to spend a fortune I better have the time of my life and I didn't at all. This place is new and I can already tell it isn't going to be around for long.
The only good thing I can say about this place is that it had a decent DJ, but that isn't exactly hard to find in NYC.
meh, eh, blah. i mean, this place is pretty and there is no cover. but the dance floor is far too small- this one particularly enthusiastic wench kept slapping me silly with her "dancing". guys were kind of socially awkward. bottle service was nice though and cute birthday party thingy (like july 4th sparkler). oh also, the staff kept hitting me when the went to service tables- made me a total crankster.

incredibly disgusted by the rudeness of a doorman who goes by "Clark" (I've been told his name is Ross in actuality). Save your money and your dignity and go somewhere else, where you won't have to deal with men with napoleon complexes living out their fantasies as doormen.
This place is a fun spot to sit and chill with friends. DJ is alright and it has a good looking crowd. You should go there with some friends and enjoy the night.
