Now my second favorite place to go dancing. Circa 28 is now trumped by The Vagabond - and not just because of the much better air quality.

My favorite place to go dancing in South Florida. Lots of room, multiple levels, an outdoor… Read more »
This is a nice bar/club that has a feel of being a local man's local bar. You may feel comfortable enough to come here quite often, despite the shady area it's located within.
The atmosphere is cozy, seating is comfortable, scene is hip...
candles everywhere, friendly staff, no cover, relatively affordable drinks ($6 beer, $8 mixed drinks), live music upstairs...
what else more could one ask for? Hence, Miami New Times' best bar, 2007.
Cool spot. A little out of the way and inconspicous.... uhh till now : / No cover charge aspect ROXX, in my book and when they have one band or dj play'n downstairs, there's something else a lil different going on upstairs. They utilize the back parking lot for an outdoor bar area, which is good. Fresh air in a hot Miami club/bar is ALWAYS welcomed.

Circa 28
I used to go every Saturday to Circa, is a great lounge/club place.
NO COVER (that's the best:)
It has 3 areas which are 1st floor (chill out on the sofa and lisent to new wave music, it has like its own mini library) 2ND Floor is to DANCE,DANCE and DANCE (80's, electronica, hip hop). If you what to chat with your friends go outside and chat with them in the Circa's PATIO. :)
The only complain that I have of this place is the lack of A/C.

Preface: I come from cities where smoking is banned from bars and clubs.
I don't know how Miamians deal with the cigarette smoke. I was excited when I read that this place has some filtration system to clear out the room. But I'm pretty sure I still lost about 5 days of my life after spending the evening here. Coming home smelling like an ashtray is just awful. I don't think I want to go to another Florida club again because of it.
That said, Circa is a decent club with a handful of things working in its favor. It's tucked into the design district under the shadow of darkness that is downtown. Parking comes in the form of "where everyone else is parked, next to that closed or abandoned building."
No cover. Great.
$5 Stella. Awesome.
Attractive, hipster crowd. Eye candalous.
There are 2 rooms, one up and one down. Live acts play upstairs (the night I went, the act was... not so great) The upstairs bartender gets overworked, but is pretty quick and fair (served in rotation around the bar). There's great relief in the huge parking lot behind the building (fenced in and surrounded by apartments I bet are just thrilled to have a club outside their window). Around 2 in the morning, the upstairs became unbearably hot and was only getting worse. That was our cue to leave.
All in all, a good, large crowd and the music was pretty hipster appropriate; Peter, Bjorn and John's Young Folks and the Dandy Warhol's Bohemian Like You played in remix to every girls' bangs delight.

I just went to this place for the first time and I really liked it.
Very nice atmosphere, well served drinks, good prices, good music, good crowd, later twenties early thirties.... this is Miami so girls are hot!
I saw DJ Spam spin here and also Richard Blair (from sidestepper)
Its kinda hidden which is good 'cause I don't really like super-crowded places, I don't like to make a line and wait either and so far theres been none of that at this place
No cover charge either, but I'm not sure if that changes depending on the night. They could expand their beer selection but then again ... thats almost every bar in Miami.

Visit Circa 28 before it becomes the inevitable "cool" place to hang and becomes overblown (*cough* Pawn Shop *cough*).
Love the no cover, no attitude, come as you are atmosphere. That's a rarity in Miami. This place is a raw gem. I went on Saturday night around 2am and the place was PACKED with hipsters. Super hot and body-crushing but the tunes were awesome if you dig a mixture of 80s, new wave, hip hop, electronica (daft punk, depeche mode, kanye, sugar hill gang, etc). When properly seen, the main room's decor has a funky victorian library room feel. The upstairs played funkier beats. Theres an outdoor area for you to grab some fresh air. The drinks were affordable. I really preferred this place over PS14.
Will definitely have to come back again with friends. Fyi, New Times voted it as Best New Bar (2007).
