16 reviews for Cinzetti's
When I was first told that we were going to go to an Italian buffet for dinner I was skeptical. Cinzetti's was an extremely pleasant surprise. We were seated immediately and went on a rampage.
I was extremely impressive this evening taking down 4 plates of food along with dessert. The pastas were so good and I pretty much sampled all of them. They also had pizza which was good, but I was more impressed by the pastas along with the chicken, fried zuchini, eggplant, and soups. Everything was so good. The dessert station which is complimented by a crepes bar had so many options. The molten lava cake was my biggest surprise. I love it and they had it at a buffet! I topped it off with the ice cream they were also serving.
I can't wait to go back to Cinzetti's the next time I visit Kansas. Who would have thought I'd want to go to Kansas for Italian?
Italian food cooked and served up by Mexicans to Kansans. Quite a multi-cultural parade here. The key here is menu diversity. It is extensive. There are a lot of items on the buffet. It is also rare in that it tastes pretty good. The antipasta bar is excellent, you also have a crepe station and decent dessert area that serves chocolate amore, cannoli, cream puffs, and bread pudding. You have fresh cooked pizzas, fish, eggs Benedict(never served the same way twice unfortunately), egg strata, eggplant parmigiana, and that's just some of the food. Don't make special requests of the front line workers, most do not speak English but nod like they understand you. This kept me waiting around one time for 15 minutes.
The size of the buffet changes depending on the day. Sunday is the largest, Saturday is the next largest, the other days are average and not worth it to me. One buffet on Saturday is $17. Does not include a beverage.
Ok for a fill'r up of good tasting chain restaurant food that delivers a really extensive list of items. No biscuits and gravy though. That is a disappointment.
Here's the good. I'm not crazy about buffets, but this one I will go to.
The food is hit and miss for me, some items are way better than others.
I definitely feel like you are paying for quantity over quality. That is not to say that the quality is bad, I think it's better than most buffets, but it's not as good as a straight up high quality sit down Italian restaurant.
EGGS FRIGGIN BENEDICT. . . . .. . .
From an ITALIAN place at that . . . .
5 stars simply because everytime I go here I usually grab 2 or 3 of them (Sunday Brunch). The egg is perfectly cooked to my taste. Runny yolk goodness. . . . . And the breakfast items are all equally as delicious.
The staff is always very helpful when giving details on food ingredients. I also appreciate that everything is served in the same skillet or pot it is cooked in.
If you love Eggs Benedict you need to get out there on a Sunday.
Cinzetti's is the most gigantic Italian buffet in the history of earth. If you like Italian food -like me- then you will love Cinzetti's. It has a massive selection of salads, meatballs, pastas, non-pastas, deserts... you name it!
If you want to do it right, I recommend not eating for about three days and wearing a pair of your favorite (and by favorite I mean "roomy") sweat pants, or anything with an elastic waistband for that matter.
I don't even know where to begin at Cinzetti's, it is the Barry Bonds of buffet restaurants- without cheating. There are so many choices and there is no time limit to how long you can be there! I believe the they close everyday at a certain time, but I have usually blacked-out on meatballs and rigatoni long before that time comes.
The best way to get a feel for Cinzetti's, is to go there. When you walk in, they will seat your party and take your drink order, then you are officially unleashed on the edible amusement park that is the buffet area. My only suggestion is to pace yourself so you can get a little of everything, there's nothing worse than being six plates in (and totally full), only to realize you you've made it through one buffet island and have 5 more to go...
The thought of an Italian buffet is intriguing. It's weird to me, but maybe it's because I worked in an Italian restaurant for a few years, so I'm biased. I decided to try Cinzetti's a couple days ago because we were craving Italian, but wanted something different than all the chain Italian restaurants in Overland Park. After dinner, though, I was thinking any place would have been better -- even Fazoli's.
Ok, the variety is impressive. But it wasn't executed well. The lasagna barely tasted like lasagna -- it reminded me of Chef Boyardee. Their calamari wasn't that great. The fried zucchini -- gross. Eggplant Parmesan looked so pathetic I didn't even pick it up. Crepes weren't great either.
The redeeming qualities of this place was the pizza (but really, how can you mess up pizza?) and Caesar salad. And the selection of ice cream. They had about eight different kinds. I had a bite of tiramisu, but that was all -- just a bite. I've had so much better.
Our service was good. But I just didn't like the place. It just reminds me of a country club with a cheesy Italian theme. I understand what they were going for here -- a bit more upscale buffet than what you'd usually find. But I don't think they quite pulled it off.
Buffet in general, is pretty awesome. I'm one of those kids who picks something from the menu that has the most that comes with it. And with buffet, you get everything! I wasn't sure how all you can eat Italian would come out, because isn't it all noodles and sauce? But it had a decent mix of salad, pasta, pizza, meats and more. The problem was, the noodles in my alfredo were a little too al dente, the sauce on the spaghetti bland, eggplant parmesan lacking substance, and pizza looked a little overcooked. That's not saying I didn't enjoy my meal--my waitress was as kind as could be, place was clean, and I did like the fact they had everything in small containers instead of huge vats. At least the food was fresh, if not flavorful.
I would go back, I am a sucker for buffets...
I have gone to Cinzetti's a few times with friends. I do enjoy the atmosphere, and the food. Sometimes though, I feel buffets stress me out -haha- trying to decide which type of food and how much I should eat... I also have a tendancy to always feel like each item(s) I choose to eat has been molested by a child with their fingers... So overall buffets are not 'my thing'. I also do not enjoy walking around with food and people (besides staff) walking with food around me. As long as you do not get aniexty about everyone around you-unlike me- cinzetti's is great.
:)
Everyone knows about the quality of buffet food, but this place is totally exceptional. It's buffet style Italian, but food without being buffet quality. The food is not the type that you get in the best Italian restaurant, but quality is still excellent, and with the wide variety...it worths 5-stars because I've never been to any buffet restaurant comes close to this one. A brief description of the food variety: soup, fried catfish, cheesesticks, fried calamari, pizza, pasta, etc. The best part is the desserts! It has made-to-order crepes, chocolate souffles, bread pudding, cream puffs, tiramisu......for all this, lunch is $9/adult.
I just moved to LA, so I miss this place....
There's something weird about buffetts....
The point of eating is to get fuel to metabolize so we don't succumb to some law of thermodynamics. So, technically, this place should be a goldmine. Lots of food, 'fresh' cooked, no predators waiting to take you out... but something is missing.
The food was diverse, and there was all sorts of courses one could have, but there was no cohesive food vibe going on. I felt like the food was just sort of sitting there. You eat it, then you move on. Like a trough. Neeeeeiihh!
The decour is fine, in fact, it's very kitch in a suburban sort of way, and if you like that, then it's a great find. But the place didn't seem to sell it very well. For example, they have servers for your table, who make sure you're having a great time, clean up your spills, refill your drinks, etc., but what's the point? To make it feel like a restaurant? Then why is your place a buffett? Because they don't want you to think of it as a buffett. They put things out as if you are waltzing through a kitchen and you get to take whatever you want. As if the 'regular' restaurants are keeping stuff from you, and when you order something, you are happy, but not as happy as if you could keep ordering and keep getting more food. "Daddy, I want a schnozberry!!!"
So if this is the case, the food better be so good that I don't want to keep going back, looking for that elusive final course to the endless meal, because, the dish I happen to get is so fulfilling, that I don't need to keep eating. But then that would defeat the purpose of the whole buffett setup--it would be a restaurant. Ergo, it's just not fitting the bill.
Now, I'm not against buffetts, I love the Indian food places, the Etheopian buffetts. And I do somtimes stuff myself silly at these places, so is the real issue here the food or my hunger? Perhaps I was there on a day I wasn't really that hungry, and so I could afford a snooty opinion of the place. That is possible. But even on a non-hungry day, a good buffett will still show itself, I believe. And as of yet, this place is just a suburban trough to pospone the realization of that whole thermodynamic laws-thing.
I went here for the first time for a family member's birthday, and I was amazed that such a place existed. It's not so much a restaurant with a buffet but the entire place IS the buffet.
It can be very overwhelming to try to taste a little bit of everything, but I found the cold dishes to actually be the most delicious, as some of the hot dishes have been sitting around for a little while - although not for that long as they keep making it as quickly as people can shove it in their mouths.
Most impressive was the dessert bar, because I am a huge dessert lover. It was great to be able to try a little bit of everything, as well as make our own concoctions. I think the brownies were the best, and the cannolis with their mini chocolate chips.
If you want to eat to excess and truly feel like a fat American, then go to Cinzetti's for a special occasion. It was most amusing that the night we were there was also the night of prom and there were girls and boys in fancy dress stuffing themselves at this Italian buffet. Classy.
My boyfriend has wanted to go here for a while so when I came out to visit for the 4th we stopped in. Its an interesting idea, a buffet style Italian restaurant with numerous stations offering different varieties of food.
We started with some appetizers - bruschetta, fresh bread and pasta in a pesto sauce all of which were really good. The caprese salad was terrible - the fresh mozzarella was disgusting and the tomatoes were sour. The minestrone soup (veggie friendly) was quite good, it had an interesting tomato base which we both liked.
We moved onto the pasta dishes - fettuccine alfredo and a pasta dish in tomato and basil sauce. The fettuccine alfredo was rather bland. The second pasta dish was delicious, the sauce was incredibly flavorful. The margherita and vegetali pizzas were both great - I really love the extra touch of fresh parmesan they had sprinkled on each pizza before baking.
We finished our meal with a taste of their desserts - cannolis, cream puffs, black cherry ice cream and rainbow sherbet. All were very good.
We ordered drinks to accompany our meal - a margarita and strawberry daiquiri. My strawberry daiquiri tasted like yogurt blended with ice and rum. It did not make a good impression. My boyfriend's margarita also seemed to have come from a mix.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is hit and miss - some of the rooms have a warm woody feel but the room we were seated in was a bit disappointing, it didn't the continue the "Italian" theme.
Overall the experience deserves 3.5/4 stars. Some of the food was hit or miss but what was good was delicious and there are plenty of choices at all the different stations to fill you up.
We have been here several times since it first opened by ourselves, with our kids and with friends. We have never been disappointed in all the times we have been here. I was a little skeptical like others at first , whether an Italian restaurant with a buffet could be good. And I am telling you we think it is even better then we thought. The place looks great and eventhough there are a lot of people around, it still feels comfortable and not too noisy. Everything from the salads, entrees to the desserts is excellent, well made and always tasting fantastic. You can either make one or two entrees as a meal with salad and desert or do like I do, tasting all over like tapas style. The spedini is great and the calamari (only nighttime and weekends) is to die for (best I have ever had- just enough crunch with flavor- much better then other places like PF Chang's ).
For the price, variety and more you can't beat it . No one has been disappointed. The selection, the quality and more are excellent.. The wait staff is attentive. You can either graze and try little dishes of everything (like Tapas ) or concentrate two or three dishes after trying one of the salads, sides and more. There is fish, beef, pasta, pizza and more. What's not to like and the quality is all superb. On Friday to Sunday there is also a crepe bar where you have fruit, whipped cream and more put into this great dessert. There are also great ice creams and all sorts of desserts. it can get a little noisy sometime but just find a quite place. The Italian soups are good as well as the chicken dishes, Spaghetti and meatballs are good as well as many of the other dishes. On the weekends there are also egg dishes and nice entrees as well for breakfast / brunch. On the weekend nights, there are also make your own creepes with fruit fillings ,cream etc what ever you please. Fantastic . If you haven't try this place , try it . For the price for the quality I don't think you can beat it . If go Italian , this is where we come.
I couldn't believe how good this buffet is! It has better italian food than some tradional italian resaurants I've been to.
If you want endless helpings of cheap, low quality Italian food that is served buffet style while you are surrounded by lots of families with little kids and fat people then this is for you.
Excellent food, buffet style Italian. Something here for everyone, from 5 or more pasta dishes to a wonderful chicken spedini, pizza, sausage and peppers, salads and a really good desert bar with made-to-order crepes, tieramisu and ice cream too. I know, buffet sounds like someplace grandma goes to but this is not grandma's cafeteria. Give it a shot... you won't be disappointed.
