190 reviews for Cinta Salon
I have had many, many dramas throughout the years with my hair; between cuts and color, including having my hair bleached too harshly and having hairs at the top break off , having a colorist 'miscount' which shade she was using and ended up with a huge bleach spot right at the top of my head, and once, this is my favorite, a girl at Supercuts cut out the ENTIRE bottom half of my hair to 'fix' the 'damaged' hair.
What did I learn? You get what you pay for.
With that in mind, I realized I would have to probably pay a bit more (ok a lot more that I was) for my hair coloring and cutting needs, so I asked several of my friends that have great hair where they got it done, and all of them said "Cinta". So I made an appointment with Christina for a cut and color back in 2007 and I haven't looked back since. She is the reason my hair looks as great as it does, and I constantly get compliments on my hair and color. I also love how Cinta is set up decor wise, the products that they carry, how friendly everyone is, and even though it is rather costly, I did finally learn my lesson of paying for what you want and for me that is quality...and great hair!
I'd like to compliment Cinta's staff for always being friendly and welcoming on the phone. I have been a customer at this salon for many years and have yet to be greeted by a rude or short receptionist. This is unlike so many other salon experiences I've had. Everyone is very professional, yet warm.
I heart Irena for my hair. I receive many compliments now that she's in charge of my head. She's a talent and also a very nice person. And she puts the trashy gossip magazines aside for me when she sees I'm coming in.
That's real customer service.
I've certainly had my fair share of disappointing threading experiences, until I was recommended to see Bhvana, the threading specialist at Cinta.
Her work is amazing! I feel completely pampered when I get my eyebrows done. The threading process is nearly painless, unlike the previous threaders I've had. After threading, Not only will she apply aloe to sooth any redness, she will apply touch-up foundation. I always leave with well defined beautifully shaped eyebrows.
In general, Cinta Salon fulfilled if not exceeded my expectations. Every visit is a pleasant surprise. Even though, the services for threading at Cinta are pricey -- the outcome and superior friendly service are definitely worth it!!
I love this place - I've pretty much loved every haircut from here, and it only gets better.
My hair looks good because Irina at Cinta will not let me leave her chair until I know how to style my new cut. She is awesome and makes my hair look awesome.
I haven't had short hair in years. I'm talking maybe a decade or so. About a month ago, I got my hair chopped off - six inches off my shoulders. And Irina made my new do look so good. I get a ton of compliments about it which is great because there are so many times I wonder if I made the biggest mistake for chopping off my hair. Thanks Irina!
I go to Cinta Salon for eyebrow threading once a month to visit a special lady called Bhavna. Without her, I would be in "war" with my eye brow hair growing and spiraling towards all directions. I have done brow waxing and threading in other places but there is no comparison to what this lady can do. She certainly has an artistic eye and really knows how to shape your eye brows to bring out your eyes. Even when I went overseas for vacation had some other lady destroy my brows, Bhavna could rescue it with just one session. Thank god, she is in san francisco. I will follow her wherever she goes. Bhavna rocks!
Cinta is one of those salons where once you go, you can never turn back. This is HIGH END my sweetheart yelpers. I did not know the term professional hair stylist until I came here.
I went to Dyptna to fix a horrid Hillary Clinton hair cut I had somehow stumbled upon in a foolish last minute trip to get my roots done. I was in tears with no hope of any salvaging my hair. Literally I have never had my hair so short. And this weird reddish color on top of that (low lights should never be placed into a natural light blonde!)
Dyptna assessed the situation, offered me a free manicure while I set my color, a glass of wine, and a hug. Then she went to work.
I felt like the movie Cinderella when all the little critters help Cinderella make her dress for the ball. An hour later (yeah they are that f'ing fast!) all her helpers made me into someone pretty again.
Cinta is not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for.
I'm never going to be able to go back.
Christina is just fabulous there. Everytime I get my color/cut done I get more compliments (and I've been having my hair done for 20 years).
I love Cinta Salon. it's located right downtown, but once you enter the salon, it feels hip and unstressful.
Ernie cuts my hair and he is awesome. He is very talanted and thorough. Although it hurts to spend $100 (80+tip), my hair is just so fabuolous I'll refrain from purchasing that extra pair of shoe.
I can't believe my review on this wannabe high end salon was removed. Why? Because I am telling the truth? They nearly ruined my hair! To this day, I am still having major breakage problems with my hair!
I have been bleaching my hair blonde for nearly ten years and I never had a problem until Christina started coloring my hair, retouching my dark roots when they would grow out. I started seeing her early last year 2008 and in the beginning it was okay but after a few visits, she started getting lazy and didn't give her undivided attention to my hair. She left the bleach in too long on my roots and it overlapped on previously bleached hair. When this happened a lot of my hair broke off near the roots and I ended up with all these short hairs on the top of my head. She also had me come every 6 weeks for touch ups which was a big mistake. I listened because I thought she knew what she was doing. Every stylist I talked to since then said you should wait at least 8-10 weeks between touch ups. It's as if she just wanted her job to be easier and didn't really care about her clients hair. When I started noticing my hair break off and told her about it, she suggested I do a high lift tint which would lighten my hair without bleach. She said that way my hair wouldn't get damaged and I "won't end up with a mullet." I am not kidding! Those were her actual words. Again I listened because I thought she knew what she was doing. She didn't. I ended up having an inch of orange hair on top of my long blonde hair. And when my dark roots grew out I had 3 different colors; brown, orange, and blonde! It was hideous! I could have done a better job with a bottle from Walgreen's if I did it myself and with a fraction of the cost, and trust me I have done that before! That was the last time (January 2009) I ever visited and will ever visit Cinta Salon. When I complained about the damage that Christina did to my hair, they refunded me the money from my last appointment but that could not undo all of the breakage that was done to my hair which will take 2-3 years to grow back. I ended up with a MAJOR CHEMICAL CUT!
I now go to a different salon that is a little more expensive but at least I know the stylists know what they are doing. A little extra money is worth the peace of mind I get knowing my hair won't be butchered to death. My stylist was able to correct the color that Christina did and now my hair is a nice even golden blonde. He also is very careful with the bleach. He doesn't leave it on too long and it doesn't burn my scalp. I just have to be extremely patient and wait for my short hair to grow back to the length that it once was so it can match the rest of my hair. I still can't even get it all in a ponytail.
I'm not a vain person but I always loved getting compliments on my hair. It really was one of my better features. Since Christina ruined my hair I hardly ever get compliments on it anymore. She even had the nerve to push all this high end product on me so I can "save my hair" which wouldn't have needed to be saved in the first place if she knew what she was doing. When I first started seeing Christina, she asked me if I could write a good review on her on http://yelp.com. Obviously I have since removed it. How tacky that you have to ask your clients to write a good review about you? A good stylist would never need to do that. That's like changing a failing grade in school. It's too bad because I used to give her a really good tip, 30% every time. What a waste of money and what an incompetent hairstylist! WHAT A DISASTER! Senior Stylist my shoe!
My only hope by writing this review is so that no one else will have to go through all the trauma that I went through with my hair. Christina is an extremely incompetent hairstylist who shouldn't be allowed to touch anyone's hair with a ten foot pole. Getting your hair done should be a fun and pampering experience not a nightmare (Oh how I wish it was a nightmare but unfortunately it isnt') My hair was DESTROYED thanks to Cinta Salon. If this review hurts their business then so be it. I really don't care...they deserve it. And if my review is removed once again, then I know for a fact that Cinta pays http://yelp.com to remove any bad reviews about them and I will close my account with yelp. Don't believe the 4.5 stars that this place has because I am not the only one who wrote a bad review on this salon. Save your hair and save your money: Don't get your hair done at Cinta Salon!
$29 for brow threading w/ Bhavna? Sure, I'll take it...!!
I'm taking off one star because half way through the brow threading, she told me that I needed to grow my left eyebrow out more, and that I should come back in 1 month to get it re-threaded. Why didn't she tell me this from the get-go? It was a scheme to get me to come back, I swear! If that was the case, I would have just cancelled my appointment and come back in another month. I only wanted my brows re-shaped, not maintained by a high-end salon that charges an arm each time.
BUT I am decently happy with threading. The process started to hurt in the beginning but I got used to it halfway through. Either that's the reasoning or I was getting numb to the pain.
The workers here at Cinta are nice, friendly, and helpful. None of their services are forced on you while you're getting one done, and they don't force you to give tips in a small yellow envelope. It's sitting on the receptionist desk for you to grab as you please. I like that.
I'll be back in a month, but hopefully it'll be worth it. I'm starting to think $29 for brow threading is STEEP. It is, huh?
Years ago my homegirl from Maui got herself a lip wax. Days after she had it done I saw her and the poor thing looked like a mouse. Cute girl with a burn that looked like a straight up mustache! OMG! I knew that I had to get my lip done sooner or later. But, I'd be damned if I let someone make me look like a man. That's a self-esteem crusher if I ever saw one.
So after I moved here I researched places near my work for some eyebrow and lip action. Cinta seemed to be the best choice, especially since they offered threading. Notice I said THREADING. Yes, if I was going to do my lip I was going to do whatever it took for me to NOT have a scar. I've never done it before so I was nervous going in.
When asked, the receptionist said that Anh was great and specializes in threading. So, I left the wax job for my eyebrows and the non heating element to my lip. Her wax job on my eyebrows are always quick, painless, and gentle. She alternates between different tools to get the job done right. Anh does an amazing job with threading as well. I was a threading virgin when I saw her. And now I guess you could call me a threading slut. You can't get any better than a nice Asian lady with the most gentle touch. When it comes to waxing (and now, threading), I don't want anything less.
Now what woman isn't picky with their hair? Alright, now, what classy, sophisticated, smart woman does not worry about having a bad hair dresser? For years...and yes I mean Y. E. A. R. S. I struggled with getting the right haircut. But, Cinta Salon crossed my life and I have gone nowhere else to get ma' hur-did (aka: my hair done).
I've been going to Cintas since Senior year in high school...equals to 9 years to this date - whoop whoop! For the last 5 years I've scheduled with Cass - she is EXCELLENT!! She's super sweet, listens to what style YOU want, and has an excellent hand. And, she gives you her honest opinion; whether the style will fit your frame or not. So listen to her! It takes her a little over 1 hour to cut and style my hair - she really takes her time. I've never EVER been dissatisfied.
Prices are little up there, but remember - it's S.F. peeps! So, if you're on a super duper tight budget - maybe this is not the place for you - yet. The salon is clean, they play great music and the staff is great! Oooooh! And if you l.o.v.e. scalp massages - you'll love having your hair washed here. You'll get chills - well, I least I know I do.
For eyebrow threading, I will give this place a 5 star.. but for hair cut (bang cut) , I will give this place a 1 star.
My mom's friend told me about this place for eye threading, and I have to say that Anh Tran (I think that's her name) did a really wonderful job on my eyebrow. She is really attentive, and make sure that your eyebrow will fit your face.
As for the haircut, well, the only think that I did here is to trim my bang, because I'm too lazy to go to Japan town (where I usually got my haircut) that day.. But anyway, so, they set me up with this one lady (whose name I completely forgot..). I already told her that I want to keep the same style of bang, just a little bit shorter, right below the eyebrow.
BUT, she cut my bangs up to ABOVE my eyebrow..
It's only a bang trim, and I already feel unsatisfied.. there is no way I would let them cut my hair!
I go to Cinta for eyebrow waxing with Jessica. I'm not even sure how I found out about her in the first place, pretty sure it was by accident - just booking an appt. at the nearest Aveda salon in close proximity to work.
I hit the jackpot, SERIOUSLY. She's a master at waxing, this lady. She explains her fabulous technique, shares makeup tricks & beauty secrets.... I feel like Jessica's the older sister I never had, and she's so adorable I can't even take it.
Highly, highly recommended.
I just had another spectacular experience at Cinta's Salon. I saw Nicole for color and as usual she did an awesome job and was extremely sweet. I also saw Jessica for a brow tint because I left bleach too long on my eyebrows which left it looking way too light and almost orange...yuck! Cinta's doesn't lighten eyebrows so I have learned to lighten them at home but I left it on too long. Jessica was so sweet and gave me advice on what I can do to avoid doing that in the future and told me about an alternative to lightening with an eyebrow gel.
These girls just make you feel so welcomed that I want to try even more of their services.

Hands down, the best place to get your hair done in San Francisco. I have been to Maiden Lane,… Read more »
Bhavna is the brow goddess !!! She's been threading my brows for 2 years and I have never received so many compliments! As a natural redhead, I have blonde-ish colored brows and it's difficult to shape them evenly and fill them in so they compliment my face. Bhavna worked her magic and I never looked back.
If you want a great cut, go see Irina. She not only listens - well - but she remembers what you talked about from your previous cut. She'll even trim your bangs for FREE in between cuts!
LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
Cinta has saved my hair!
More specifically, Jeanette, Adriana and Harper have saved my hair.
I had a butcher cut and color elsewhere in September and on the recommendation of a good friend, I came to Cinta to desperately try to fix it.
It's January now and I can say that it is well on it's way to being the way I originally had intended. Thanks, Girls!!!
I've only been to Cinta for my bridal updo trial and day-of with Gretal. She did an amazing job and I loved it!!! Looks amazing in pictures. Thanks Gretal!
I had originally started coming here because of a review I read on http://allure.com for the Salon. I instantly loved the service, treatment, and staff of the establishment. When I first started getting my hair cut here I was seeing Season, she has since moved, and now I'm seeing Adriana, who is fantastic! Adriana is such a great stylist. She understands what you want, won't force you into anything, and is so nice and caring.
After years of getting my hair cut by unexperienced stylists it's SO nice to have someone who knows what they are doing cut my hair. Not to mention all the complements I get on my hair!
Another thing I love about Cinta is that you can book an appointment online, they offer you coffee, tea, or wine while you're waiting and during your appointment, and the style and atmosphere of the salon is so much fun!
I'll definitely be really really depressed when the day comes that I have to leave San Francisco and I can no longer come to Cinta.

I come here for hair removal needs. I was hesitant to review Bhavna and her awesomeness because I dont want her booked up any more than she is. But she's my girl and I gotta shout. So see her for your regular smoothiness. She's efficient, caring and very professional and knows that even though the deed is painful she'll do all in her power to make it not so bad.
It is also very hygienic - use of gloves, no double-dipping of sticks, etc.
Oh and also the ladies who work the receiving desk and the phones are always very pleasant and helpful.
The price tag is high but so is the level of service which makes forking over the money not so bad.
I've been going here for 7 years and will never go anywhere else! They are FABULOUS! Cinta is a team salon which means don't feel bad about cheating on your hairdresser or changing - just so long as you stay within the salon. I've switched once, but I just love them. I saw Sarah for a number of years and now see Noel - which means I basically spend an hour in the chair laughing my ass off b/c hes hilarious. Everyone is very professional and friendly. I love how the space is layed out and even on a busy Saturday they never seem stressed.
I see Shelley for waxing and facials although I'm sure anyone is amazing. See Mauritzia for color. I also love that they encourage everyone to keep learning. Sarah teaches/taught with Bumble and Bumble and they just opened the Aveda teaching salon on Kearny!
I started going there because I loved that you could pay for the level of stylist you wanted. Which is why I tell so many people to go there - and now with the Aveda teaching institute - more great Cinta service and for cheap if you don't want to pay a boatload!
My hair looks fabulous every time - and they're great about listening to what you want - in fact I just chopped my hair, and I just said to Noel "I'm bored with this...make me pretty". Best short hair cut I've ever had.
Love, love love them!
Monique did it again.. she managed to give me such a mood-turnaround haircut. I feel so much better after a good cut, never underestimate the power of a hair cut.
It particularly helps when you are pregnant, and avoiding things like mani/ pedi/ hair color/ even make up on your skin... so a simple hair cut can do major benefits to you psychologically.. to feel that you are pampering yourself and looking after yourself (before the chaotic times ahead once baby is here!!)... I wonder if Monique will cut my baby/ toddler's hair???

All I have to say is Jessica revived my loyalty to Cinta...she is dam good at her job and darn good at waxing my brows. Jessica is professional, knowledgeable and consistent. I adore her and would follow her anywhere. I have been booking appointments regularly since she began working for Cinta and my brows have never looked better - I have her to thank for that.
Cinta is lucky to have Jessica on board and I hope they do whatever it takes to keep her. She sure kept me coming back to a place I honestly thought I would never visit again.

Great girls! Getting my hair done next week but did my eyebrows today. Worth the price and Shellie is Rockin! She made me so perty.
They also serve you wine, tea or, coffee while you get your services.
I'm so excited to see what they do to my hair!
I've been going to CInta since I was in high school, and it was at the mall!!! *clears throat* I'm 28 years old....
Well, I havent been faithful, i do stray and go to other places like diPietros in Fillmore, BUT I always come back to Cinta. It's safe. But sometimes the reason I stray is because its TOO safe, I like edgy and sometimes straight up crazy hair, and even tho I've asked for edgier cuts they just won't cross that line and just DO IT...... thats it.
I LOVE this place! Total heaven! Adriana is a genius hair stylist.
First of all, excellent ambiance! It's so relaxing to just walk in here for your appointment. Everyone I have encountered here is a total pro.
Last week, there was a mix-up regarding my appointment. The receptionists had excellent customer service skills and offered me a complimentary hair cut with another stylist right away. I declined the free offer, because 1) I cannot cheat on my hair stylist!, and 2) whatevs, we're in a recession and businesses need the $$ right now, and just them offering free services was enough for me.
So I returned later that week for my appointment with Adriana. She is AMAZING! My friend and I will only go to Adriana. She is the sweetest person, and it's SO relaxing to hang out with her while she cuts and styles your hair. She does a phenomenal, thorough job and makes you look and feel amazing! The styles always flatter your face and bone structure. Going to Adriana and Salon Cinta is a total treat and really look forward to my appts- so relaxing and you end leaving looking like a Victoria's Secret model!
PS, the manicures and pedicures here are fantastic, too. I suggest getting a pedicure with a friend, since they have an awesome private room for two.... so relaxing. Love this place!
A close friend of mine comes here and has amazing hair, so I did a hair modeling program here once. My hair was cut by a student, which I wasn't so crazy about, but the teacher was very involved and took care to make sure nothing went wrong, fixing it up when it did.
I really like the salon itself. The people were friendly, and it didn't take as long as it has for hair modeling in the past, but I have to say I like Vidal Sassoon's Program better...Cinta charged me to be model whereas Vidal did not. Still, I don't think I ever got called for color or highlights at Vidal and I for sure did for Cinta.
http://www.cinta.com/m...
Still Cinta is crazy growing there's even a Cinta Aveda Institute, so they must be doing something good!
Getting a Holiday hair update is always at the top of my Holiday checklist.
My friend Christine (who has beautiful blond locks) recommended I see Nicole at Cinta Salon for her to color my virgin hair.
I gave Nicole pretty general directions of the "sunkissed" look that I envisioned and she executed perfectly! Janice also did a great job on my blowout and gave me a great head massage in the process.
Mrs Gavin Newson was also at the salon today... If the salon is good enough for Mrs Newsom, it's good enough for me.
The first thing that strikes you when you walk in to Cinta's is how bright, clean and airy the space is. I've been faithful to this salon for about 6 years and I am never disappointment with their services. Christina is a master at blond highlights and Arvin gives an amazing hair cut. Hannah and Harper are great when it comes to styling and Jessica and Ahn are eyebrow threading wizards! Swan and Kim are exceptional manicurists. Everyone who works at Cintas is super sweet and although the prices are a little high, it's definitely worth it. The salon has a great work and service ethic and I highly recommend it.
The two women who have done my hair coloring are the wonderful Marissa and Christina who are both totally professional, honest and sweethearts! I really like the clean and polished look I get each time I leave.
Marissa saved me one day when I had a hair emergency and she was able to pencil me in that day to help me fix what I had destroyed (let's just say my hair was blue).
Christina was able to see me when the salon had scheduling issues and Marissa said she wouldn't be able to give me the best service, which is honest. And I got the coloring done for free!! Of course, I tipped.
The only reason why this place gets docked one little no big deal of a star is because there is just too much going on, too many people running around and you get tossed around from person to person like it ain't no thang but a chicken wing...but they are also sweeties.
Cinta is great but I just thought this place was too expensive. However, you can't deny the fact that they know what they are doing and know what actually look good on you =) I dropped at least $200 for haircut and color-I guess this depends who you get (what level the stylist is??)
I've been going to Jeannette for color and Irina for cut for the last three years or so, and the few times I've deviated from them for even a trim has found me running right back! I love my Cinta experience -- I love the open space, the good music, the respectful service from everyone who speaks to me or lays hands on me. The only drawback is that my girls there have moved up in their respective "levels" so they charge more than they used to, but I've found that it's totally worth it. After seeing them my hair looks pretty good for another six months, meaning I don't really have to go very often anyway.
Oh, and Jessica is my new favorite for eyebrows! She managed to steal me away from the lovely lady in Burlingame who has groomed my brows for the past 6 years (Jennifer at L'Escape, who is wonderful but simply too inconveniently-located for me nowadays). I highly recommend seeing her if you're at Cinta for hair or another service.
I love this place!
Lauren for color- she's amazing and so fun to talk to! She knows exactly what I want each time I go and I have been so pleased with the results each time.
Harper for cut- she's great too and she's done a great job with my layers and never cuts too much off!
Jessica for waxing- She's mastered the art of eyebrow shaping. Definitely see her!
Ok, I go here for threading because 4 years ago I had my eyebrows waxed and the stupid salon in Mountain View waxed off the top layer of my skin! Yes, still traumatizing to this day.
Both Anh and Bhavna are fantastic. I see either one of them (depending on their availability and my schedule) and honestly I cannot go anywhere else for threading. I did stray a couple times to this jacked nail salon on Stevenson street but I will never do that again. Threading can get pricey, but it's totally worth it.
had a scheduling snafu with my longtime stylist so needed cut, color and style in a snap. they were able to get me in the same day and just 45 minutes after i made my initial plea. The stylist was so great...got a complimentary bang cut . LOVE the color.
Also...Cinta has the best brow threader out there: Bhavna. Call early as she is always booked in advance.
Thanks Cinta!!!!
I have been looking for a good haircut since I moved here five years ago. I have finally found a place. It's not cheap but I'm never worried about leaving and not looking great.
Started coming here about 9 months ago and Season started cutting my hair. Unfortunately she left but I was referred to Christiana who has done a wonderful job. The staff is very friendly and the place is comfortable. I will continue to return as long as I can afford it.
I have a very volatile, emotional relationship with my hair. I can't help taking out whatever issues I'm going through on my hair. Whether it's job stress, relationship turmoil or just a case of the Mondays, I tend to change my hair when I can't take the pressure. Which has made growing my hair out very difficult. Plus, everyone else I've ever gone to has always cut my hair in such a way that I need to cut it again after 4 weeks, or I start looking homeless. Never in such a way that it continues to look great, week after week, thereby actually allowing my hair to *grow*.
Enter Gretel. I explained what I wanted to do with my hair. I explained all of my self-destructive habits and patterns. I explained how I wanted to break those patterns. And she offered her help. She was a woman with a plan, I tell you! Patient and solicitous and aware of my end goal.
And it's taken a few months now, but my hair is actually getting there! It's amazing. I can go a couple (or even a few) months between cuts because it's cut properly in the first place. It's not high-maintenance or fussy. I can do whatever I like to it, and it still looks nice.
I think I should go in for a deep conditioning treatment soon, though. I may be able to resist cutting it, but I'm still coloring my hair every month like it's my sworn duty. Oops.
My husband has this standard line when I come home from getting haircuts: "How long will it be until you tell me you actually hate it?"
Which is true. But not when Noel.
Oh Noel, how can I explain how you've chopped off several inches of my tired hair and made it all flippy and well, *happy*? How can I even begin to explain how I can just blowdry my hair in the a.m. and GO. No other styling required...but if I do have time, it looks even better!
AND you didn't give me Asian TV anchor hair.
I went here as a hair model. The facility was clean and chic, and had a friendly staff. Gretal did a great job retouching my highlights, my only qualm is that it wasnt touched up that close to my skin so it looked as if it had grown out 2 weeks already. Still I got a discounted class price so me thinks totally worth it. It does take a full 2 hours though.I would come here for regular services as well, the class is okay if your NOT picky. I was surprised at how my color came out (darker than my previous color), but I have grown to love it.
