The cookies are HUUUUGGGGEEEE. I may return to Seattle just for one of the Cinnamon Works' molasses cookies. OMG. I was so full from Pike Place Chowder that I really had no room for this, so we shared one, and it lasted until the next day. This really does represent heaven, in a circular, sugar-laden, carbohydrate form.
Oh, and lest I forget (no biggie for me, but for others from my household...) they have Gluten Free offerings! Many of their incredible cookies and such they offer in both a Gluten Free and a Gluttony format. ;) -
Review from Larena H.
For about a year now, I've been meaning to try out their pumpkin cookie which landed on the Seattle Foodie 100 list. I was warned that it was huge and super sweet. My calorie shame prevented me from stopping by on numerous occasions.
You know what else prevented me from stopping by? All of the advertisements for vegan and gluten free baked goods. For those of us who eat bacon, butter, and eggs, vegan and gluten-free substituted baked goods are usually a turn off. I appreciate that they cater to a special needs crowd. I'm just not in that crowd. If a food typically has gluten in it, I don't care how much you try to spin it into a "good" gluten free food. It's just not the same.
Fortunately the item on the foodie list isn't one of those substitution dishes. The pumpkin cookie (with optional frosting for $.50 extra) really was just as huge as I was warned. I got mine with icing since I felt that it needed to be enjoyed the way nature intended it. I think I got maybe 10 whole bites out of that thing over 2 days. It was tasty, but it was very sweet. It reminded me of a pumpkin muffin vs. a pumpkin cookie. It was very soft, and baked just right. It was just a bit much for me.
I think I'd only order it again if I had a friend or three to share it with. It just starts to be "too much" after a few bites into it. Adam from Man vs. Food might even have an issue downing that whole thing in 15 minutes or so.
Diabetics be warned! :P -

Very nice selection of vegan and gluten free baked goods. You can also order from a selection of pies in time for the holidays.
You need to know that you have to order them in ADVANCE. If you think you are going to stroll up to the counter and pick up a pie, chances are that you will be disappointed.
Speaking of walking up to the counter, that experience can range from instant, friendly service, to being kinda ignored. The high in lows for me there was when I was waiting in line (next in line actually) when for some reason unknown to me the gal at the counter decides to help the gal who was two people behind me BEFORE me. So, being curious as to why she felt doing something like that would be ok with me and the person behind me, she responded "she is a regular and I do not recognize you" While I appreciate the honesty, I also took my two pie and Snickerdoodle order and headed down the street.
I know that I should not hold a grudge and I am sure that I will go back again someday but it will be a while until that happens. -

GLUTEN FREE &VEGAN goods are the EXCELLENCY!! I always buy the vegan / gluten free desserts even if they cost more bc they are definitely worth it! The ingredients are much richer &tastier. Last time I had a normal Oatmeal Cookie, it tasted not that great.

Review from Gregg M.
One of life's simple pleasures for me has been walking down to Pike Place Market in the morning right after it opens, beating the crowd, getting a cup of coffee at Starbucks, and then walking a few doors down to grab a sticky bun at Cinnamon Works. Cinnamon Works has been in its present location in the market for as long as I can remember. It bakes up a variety of specialty breads (to include vegan, gluten-free, and egg-free products), which fills the surrounding area with that fresh baked break and cinnamon smell that is nothing like my mom ever made!
The girlfriend and I split a whole-wheat sticky bun that was fresh out of the oven. The bun was big, sugary, cinnamony, and sticky. However, instead of the usual topping of sticky crushed pecans, it was topped with sliced almonds. The sticky bun failed to live up to the memory of the sticky bun. Bummer. -

We visited the Cinnamon Works with our grandson and his friends this afternoon and all enjoyed their HUGE cookies. When I'd been there previously I had not been able to find anything sugar free but today they had several choices in this category so my husband bought me one. I was concerned because they listed the sweetener as "fructose" which is chemically akin to sugar. It is not satisfactory for diabetics and one's body processes it as "sugar" even though it is not the sort that comes from cane or beet sugar. A better but still natural sweetener might be xylitol. This would make the cookies cost a bit more since it is expensive, but you would truly be offering those of us who should not be eating sugar a safe alternative. Please consider messing around with a recipe or two that uses this sweetener and also consider not listing your fructose sweetened cookies as "sugar free" because they really aren't. Thanks for listening.

P.S. My husband got an extra cookie out of the deal because I wisely decided not to eat the one he'd chosen for me. -

Decent selection of cinnamon cookies and pastries to choose from. It's very convenient for me because I'm trying to lower my cholesterol and I was advised to take a teaspoon per day but who does that?! I found that they make gluten-free snickerdoodles and they taste fabulous! Very soft w/ lots of cinnamon sprinkles on top. YUM.
For a bakery in the Pike Place Market, I would have expected them to charge a lot but we got a Pumpkin Load (which was REALLY moist and delish) and the monster vegan snickerdoodle cookie for less than $5! How can this place stay in business w/ such prices! Too bad I live so far up north - otherwise, I'd be hanging out in front of this place every weekend. -

Best gluten free cookies I've ever had...the pumpkin spice with frosting are particularly good. They have a good variety of gluten free and vegan options. Wish I lived close by, I'd have one every day.

I came here and got the "famous pumpkin cookie with icing" and the oatmeal cookie.
The pumpkin cookie was a little overs-piced with nutmeg and other spices, which didn't really let the pumpkin flavor shine as much as I would have liked. As for the oatmeal cookie, this was just a complete disappointment, because oatmeal cookies are my favorite and this one just tasted like a bunch of oats and raisin but was completely lacking any of the sweetness to it.
The cookies are large but I was hoping they'd taste as good as they looked, but alas they did not.
The girl who helped me also had an attitude with me for no reason - I knew exactly what I wanted so didn't waste her time - so that was annoying because if you're gonna serve crappy cookies, at least be nice. -
Review from Karen M.
Cookies the size of one's face. Easily. I quite enjoy large cookies -- the perfect size! -- and these things were definitely large. I bought a pumpkin spice cookie and a chocolate chip cookie and ate both solo. Good thing I worked out that morning. The pumpkin spice cookie had a cakey texture and less spice flavour than I expected. However, the chocolate chip cookie was chock-full of chips and good ol' cookie cheer (and fat, given the translucency of the paper bag in which it came). Yum yum to the choc chip cookie and an ok yum to the pumpkin spice cookie.
I'd definitely come here again to sample the other offerings....but sadly, I leave fair Seattle too soon to make that a reality. Crap. -

Cinnamon Works: now featuring "small" cookies that are only as big as your hand rather than your head.
The Three Girls bakery had moved over to some stall by the sanitary market during the winter 2010/11 Market construction and I was just too lazy to go find them and while I have a certain nostalgia for Three Girls' cookies they really aren't that good. So for the first time in decades of coming to the market I settled for a Cinnamon Works cookie. I'd come back three times in the next month. Barry G Jr. now thinks we go to the market for fruit and vegetables and just happen to get cookies while we're there; little does he know that it is the other way around.
'Works has one of the best chocolate chip cookies in Seattle (Pomegranate in Redmond still wins that title). These are dark and moist with a good semi sweet chocolate chip but this is home to the best snicker-doodle I've ever had: moist and chewy, loaded with cinnamon. The pumpkin cookies are good but a bit cakey for my taste. And as other reviewers have noted: vegans have choices here too. -
Review from Rachel N.
As soon as I had my first bite of the Monster cookie (ingredients: oatmeal, cranberries, heaven) -- I was already thinking of ways to get me back to Seattle so I could have a constant supply of these cookies.
Put on your tourist face, head to the Public Market, check your diet at the curb, and fit as many of these delicious treats in your mouth as possible. In addition to normal goods, they have amazingly rich gluten free and vegan options (vegan snickerdoodle, YES) -- and HUGE cookies for reasonable prices.
My favorite place in the city to lose every shred of restraint I possess. -

This is by far the BEST Vegan Pastry shop in ALL OF SEATTLE! Their Vegan Almond Poppy Seed is to DIE FOR! The gluten free pastries have that rice flour taste, but they make all the other flavors SO AMAZING that you can't tell as much as you usually can using alternative baking for food allergies. Seriously the BEST Vegan/Gluten free option in the WHOLE CITY!!! Some of the muffins can be a little rich sometimes since they use oils and no butters but it's still so GOOD!!!
They will also bake an order of multiple items ahead of time so you can supply for a meeting, or just stock up so you don't have to drive from the Eastside in search of the most amazing vegan poppy seed muffin every time you get a hankering for it ..which happens quite often! You will be addicted to them! -

Modest selection of goodies in the display cases. I thought about trying my sweet tooth, but instead came with my subtle tooth and got banana bread... d'oh. I do like their own-made Chai. It's a bit spicy when hot, but tames when it starts to cool. It's nice and the staff is pleasant.

Full from The Crumpet Shop, my sister and I still could not resist a quick sweet while walking around the market. While the cinnamon buns looked great we knew we could not take that much food so we opted for a giant chocolate chip cookie. Sadly, it just tasted like anything you can get from a grocery store. Oh well.

I've always gone to Pike Place Market on the weekend, and I've always walked by this place without stopping to try something.
Man do I feel like an idiot.
I first tried their monstrous sugar free chocolate chip cookie. And I tried their Health Nut monster cookie today. There is something highly addictive about their sweets, and they won't make you bust your piggy bank with a hammer either. For such a large cookie that's made with fresh ingredients from scratch, I can't say anything bad about it at all.
If anything, you HAVE to try something from this place! It's worth the two minutes of stopping, looking, and eating. I'm serious! Do it! Do it now!Listed in: Top Restaurants

"Luke?"
"Yes, Leia?"
"I think I've come up with a new way to overthrow dad"
"Oh, how's that?"
"OK, this is gonna sound kind of crazy, but hear me out. How about we make him....diabetic? We're in a galaxy long ago and far, far, away. He'll never be able to get access to insulin"
"Brilliant! But how can we actually accomplish this? He commands The Force?"
"Simple. We tell him that he can't go to Cinnamon Works to get a giant pumpkin cookie, and then he'll do it".
....Such was my fate. Those damn kids, always trying to get early access to their inheritance. I know full well it's that slacker Han putting ideas into their fool heads. They can call it trying to save the galaxy all they like, but really they're just after my collection of blown glass unicorns.
Erm, I mean my secret stash of super evil, super cool stuff.
Anyways, off to Cinnamon Works I ventured yesterday to try yet another object on the Seattle Foodie 100 list - the pumpkin cookie. I was not made aware ahead of time that it came in 2 varieties - frosted and not. What self respecting Jedi doesn't go for frosting though? So that's the one I chose.
First, serving size. This thing is HUGE. I mean, like, a whole meal by itself huge. I don't even want to know how many calories it is. I'm sure my yoga instructor is going to give me the 5th degree about it next time I go to Dantooine. For the price, it was a veritable bargain, which is something you can't always find in Pike Place.
The cookie itself? Was really more like a frosted cake. It was shaped like a cookie, but the consistency was...different. That's not a good or a bad thing, just is what it is.
The first few bites were pretty damn tasty. And this is where my problem with this dish ultimately comes into play: Given its massive girth, it is entirely too sweet. It's sooooooo rich. I honestly couldn't finish the thing, I only got about halfway through. Know how you can be eating pancakes and every bite is a little chomp of heaven, and then just all of a sudden they become disgusting? It's like that. I was afraid if I took one more bite I would pull my cloak over my helmet and start screaming about being The Great Cornholio. I found myself very quickly "over it" with regards to this confection. I'm not sure how this can be addressed, but it is what it is.
As such, I can only in good conscience give Cinnamon Works 3 Deathstars, even though the first 2 bites were clearly 5 stars, and the second pair of bites were probably 4's.
Now where did I put that insulin needle...?Listed in: The Seattle Foodie 100

I took off one star because my husband didn't really love his blueberry muffin. He said it wasn't sweetened other than the blueberries- where's the fun in that? I got a cinnamon roll and a pumpkin cookie with frosting (of course!) for later. The cinnamon roll was so light and yummy I wish I had more, so I ate part of the cookie, which was dense and tasty. I love that they have lots of vegan, gluten free and other offerings for people with special diets.

Pike Place Market has a high concentration of bakeries and sweet spots. For the most part, each has its own niche with a little crossover. Cinnamon Works is the bakery with a conscience as it has numerous vegan and gluten-free options. Not that the "we like a lot of butter in our baked goods" will not find something worth trying here. I did.
The selection here is pretty much limited to a few types of baked goodies. Specifically scones, cookies and cinnamon rolls. Considering that cinnamon is part of the moniker, logically I drew the conclusion that the cinnamon roll and its variation would be the star attraction. Turns out it was not, the cookies are the clear reason to try Cinnamon Works.
Stopped by over the weekend to give this place a try. It was the afternoon, I was pleased to learn everything was half off! Must be a closing hours special or something. Picked up a wheat pecan sticky roll (bun?) (reg. $3.75), a plain jane cinnamon roll (reg. $2) and a molasses gingersnap cookie (reg. $3.75).
The sticky roll/bun and the cinnamon roll were pretty average. The cinnamon roll was a bit on the small side and a bit lacking in flavor. The sticky roll was decent sized, but the flavor was pretty subdued. Okay selections, but kind of pricey for something that disappointments.
However what saved this visit was the molasses gingersnap cookie. Seemed like a good option to try given it is the holiday season. And I was right. The flavor of the spices come out in full force. The cookie was also chewy which was good, though not perfect. There were a few hard spots. Still a solid cookie offering.
Cinnamon Works is an a-okay place in my book. The rolls were a bit eh, but the cookie offerings are worth a try.Listed in: Bakery Bonanza

The chocolate chip cookie here was awesome - it was not too sweet and it somehow managed to be chewy and crunchy at the same time.
I thing I got just a hint of cinnamon, probably one of the best cookies I've had in recent memory.

Right in the heart of the public market, this sweets stand is a good place to stop and get a coffee/cookie/cinnamon roll/delicious foods.
We got an oatmeal cookie here after our lunch at Market Grill, and that cookie was a good finish to a tasty lunch. The outside of the cookie had a slight crunch while the inside was soft and chewy. It was chalked full of raisins and delicious oatmeal.
My husband got a latte and it was kind of small, but it had a good flavor and it went with the cookie well. A decent place to stop for sweets, for sure. -

I passed this place a few times during my short trip to Seattle, and just had to snag a treat on the last day.
Since this place was named after cinnamon, I figured it would be beck to go with a cinnamon roll. It wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. The icing they had on it was overly sweet, and the bread was slightly dry. They didn't offer to warm it up for me either, which my have helped out.
I would try it again, perhaps going for a roll sans-icing. -

Awesome cookies, bars, breads, and muffins baked on site. Delicious monster cookies, lots of vegan/gluten free options, and around St. Patricks Day they make a stellar Guinness bread. I've been eating the sticky buns since I was a little girl and they are delish!
The only reason for this not being a 5 star is the service is inconsistent. I can imagine dealing with tourist all day is not a joy but there are plenty of times when I feel like I'm boring a hole in one of the staff member's heads just trying to make eye contact and get some service. I hate begging to be a customer. -

I love that they have vegan and sugar free options here!
A lot of their cookies are HUMONGOUS, and by the end you find yourself forcefully finishing the last bites.
Snickerdoodle- pretty good, soft chewy texture
Pumpkin cookie- more like a pillowy cake. I'm sure if I got this earlier in the day, it would have been more moist. I wish they topped it with more frosting.. the ratio of cookie to icing doesn't make sense!
Monster cookie- TASTE BUD OVERLOAD. has oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips, etc... (kind of a lot to handle)
Good, but I've been to better bakeries -

Cookie as big as my face, Mocha as small as Barbie's teacup. Am I over joyed by the size of the cookie, or sadly dissapointed at the smallness of my mocha? Paradox.
This is America; you know, where small means "extra large." I don't think Cinnamon Works got the memo. Or maybe they only got half the memo cuz it took 3 days to finish the cookie, and the mocha was gone in two sips.
Eh whatever. Both were good and I guess it's my fault that I didn't ask how big the "small" was. But it's not entirely fair because the cookie misled me :( I thought they did things BIG here!
This is the second time in the past few months that I have been screwed over by a cookie (see review for Bakesale Betty's). Phooey.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me *sigh* Damn you, cookies. Damn you all to hell! -

This place is cute!
Gluten free, wheat free and sugar free pastries are offered as well as ones without any substituting. To what I remember, here you will find cookies monster and not, cakes and loafs, macaroons, flour mixes, granola, and oat mixes.
Bonus, they don't use chemicals to sweeten their treats for the sugar free ones = yay!
I tried the Gluten free and sugar free applesauce cake.
Great! It was moist and fluffy. Should be called a "loaf." ^^
Anyway, the location is amid Pike Place Market beside many other wonderful shops and cafes.
Beverages are also served. Coffee, water, bottled drinks and tea.
Also, this place is kind enough to include soy free drinks. -
Review from Holly R.
Usually when a place claims something as "famous" it sucks. Not the case with Cinnamon Works famous pumpkin cookie. This thing is a genius marriage of pumpkin bread and a cookie. And if you get the one with frosting on top you'll never go back to chocolate chip cookies again. Although they do have chocolate chip cookies too. But really, who cares?
Back to the pumpkin cookie. This sugar attack is huge - big enough for sharing but screw that - eat it all yourself, you'll be glad you did. It's soft, kinda like pumpkin bread with the stability of a cookie. On top is a hardened dollop of cream-cheese frosting. Hells yeah. If you're lucky enough to get it warm, consider yourself blessed by the cookie deities. The only thing that could make this cookie better is if Johnny Depp were feeding it to me. While wearing his Pirates costume.
Even though the boyfriend and I were only in Seattle for 3 days we went back to Cinnamon Works 3 times for these stupid things. Once I had a co-worker who was visiting Seattle bring one back for me - that's how good they are.
Don't believe me? Try one for yourself. And then send me a showering of thank-yous. -

OMG please open a location in the Bay Area! Cinnamon rolls have always been my favorite dessert/breakfast item and when I heard that Cinnamon Works had vegan cinnamon rolls, I was excited to have a taste. It was everything a cinnamon roll should be. I had it every day I was in Seattle for breakfast (5 days in a row!) and wish I could have taken some for my plane ride home.

I absolutely love the lemon poppyseed cookies. Really more like a cross between a cookie and a scone, but they are delicious. Lemon zest, dense but not chalky. Also they are vegan, so if that's important to you, then there you go. But I don't think being vegan makes them taste any less good. Also, I think they're only $1.50, so you can stop at Cinnamon Works and not feel like you're spending a ton of money on one cookie.
Also, the cinnamon rolls are tasty, but I would get the plain ones without the frosting. Less messy and not as bad for you. -

Every time I visit Seattle, I always make sure to visit Cinnamon Works because I love their Gluten Free baked good. My favorite is the GF Pumpkin Cookie and GF Monster Cookie. They are delicious and a nice size to enjoy in 2 servings.
My only suggestions for Cinnamon Works
1. Offer more GF Cookie Varieties
2. Lower your prices, $4.25 for a cookie is a bit outrageous no matter how good it is.
3. Make sure you make enough of each variety, you often sell out. -

So, my mom came to town to visit me, and while I was at work she went for a walk around Pike Place.
A few hours later she came back with two HUUUGEEE cookies and kept talking about how good they were. Honestly, she was right.
Now, here I am 4 months later, and now she's gone out of town again, but whenever I am strolling down Pike Place, I pass by Cinnamon Works for a glance or maybe a cookie.

I've yet to have a revelation where I'm eating something mediocre, and then fall into a Calgon, "take-me-away" dream sequence all due to the size of a pastry, cookie, cupcake what have you...
I found their cinnamon roll to be unimpressive, limp& airy, with goopy corn syrup-y frosting. Shoot, and where was the cinnamon works?? It didn't have any weight, stretch or give. It wasn't a gluten-free item but it sure tasted like it. No bueno.
I had a flashback to the cellophane wrapped tray of cinnamon rolls my mom would buy from the outlet bread store. Day old baked goods have that signature sticky sheen, and the bread is on the dry side. -

This easily my favorite cookie shop anywhere. I love their snickerdoodle, especially when it comes out of the over. My parents are vendors at Pike Place and I come here often. I've probably tried every cookie but I LOVE their snickerdoodle. It's $3.50 with cash I believe and $3.75 with card if Im correct but overall its amazing, definitely worth it. The vegan options are superb also.

They have snickerdoodles here! SCORE! That's at least 4 stars right there.
I walked past while visiting the market for a meeting and saw cookies the size of pizzas out of the corner of my eye. The next thing I knew I was standing at their counter spending $12 on giant cookies! The money is worth it though. I asked the woman behind the counter for a suggestion and she not only told me about her favorite cookies, she also listed the cookies that were most recently baked, the ones that were wheat free, and the ones that were vegan. WOAH! I didn't expect her to be so helpful.
I walked out with a few snickerdoodles (my fave) and a monster cookie that had butterscotch, chocolate, and peanut butter chips in it. They were so tasty! I'll try not to be back ...but it'll be hard :) -

Vicky T. raves about THE PUMPKIN COOKIE: http://www.yelp.com/bi...
My trip was kinda "spur of the moment" and thus I had no time to research places to eat.
Lucky for me, this wonderful cookie haven immediately caught my eye while walking on 1st street.
From a size perspective, let me give you the ratio:
1 cookie=6 little chips ahoy.
I grabbed 3 hoping to get a variety of flavors in my mouth. Peanut butter, Chocolate chip, and the famous pumpkin cookie. Pics:http://www.yelp.com/bi...
They aren't cheap either, I blew like $11 bucks on 3 cookies, but they are massive-WHOA!
If you are wondering if I immediately devoured all 3 cookies, I didn't. I had bites of each. They were better fresh, but I really couldn't eat all that much sugar, especially after a dozen donuts!Listed in: By no other name=SUGAR, Wet Girl in greater Seattle
