I went here for the first time on a Wednesday night and was amazed that I hadn't stumbled upon this club sooner! I was at Cinespace to watch my friends performance, and although the club wasn't packed like it might have been on a weekend, I could easily see the potential this place has to offer.
The crowd was your typical Hollywood scene, but I was amazed to be in a club/lounge with so many seperate rooms and places to move around. When you first walk in you immediately go upstairs, and although the layout seems somewhat like a maze, the bars are spread out = hardly any waiting.
I look forward to going back on the weekend! -

First off...the club (RM 86) was not open when we arrived for a friend's party. So a group of 15 of us stood in the cold for about 30 minutes. No one could tell us when it was opening or why it wasn't open. We just stood there.
Finally we get in. Really? That is what we waited for. Maybe the hold up was the votives they lit. And really....drunk people and candles on stairs= brilliant.
Drinks were way overpriced. Fine, it is Hollywood.
I went to dance, leaving a full drink behind on a table near my friends. The table had other empty drinks next to it. I come back to the table and everything is gone. Ah, it probably got cleared by accident. I go to ask the bartender, if he can check and he basically accuses me of drinking it and trying to trick him. I ask to see the manager. He says he could ask the bus boy , but he won't cause I didn't see him take it. I tell him I will go ask around and see if anyone saw someone pick it up. He says, even if someone said they saw the busboy pick it up, he still would not ask him. Now, this could be explained had I been drunk and aggressive...but I wasn't. I just wanted them to see if it got cleared by accident. I was treated like shit. We left right away.
So that bar can suck it. Good luck with your "acting" careers you assholes. -

Came here last night to see Matty G and Cotti spin. I haven't been here since I was 18, my good old clubbing days ( gross ) and I can't say I missed it. I'm not sure why they had us enter thru the side in the alley it was a bit strange.
BAR SELECTION- I cant even explain how pathetic is was. THE ONLY beer they had was Heineken light and colt 45. WHAT THE FLYING SHIT I thought he was kidding, and get this $5 for a colt 45 can. I feel stupid for buying that crap, see what alcohol does to you? I heard the mixed drinks were strong.
BATHROOMS. UM a unisex one? Apparently there's only 1 bathroom it has like 5 stalls and 3 of those had urinals. Which means I couldn't even use them. I didn't care about sharing a bathroom with a dude UNTIL this dude made comments about me putting on my lipstick, awkward?
Only plus was how big the venue is, Pretty spacious which I liked. Not having a dude rub on me on " accident " pervs. Would I go back? sure, but buy alcohol there? HELL NO -

Cinespace arrange their entrance to the side now. The venue changed but looks bigger and nicer. Came here for a Native Instruments party where Tommy LEE spun and it was OPEN BAR ALL NIGHT. WTH? It was amazing! The best freaking party I've ever been to for an event at Cinespace. I had a great time, definitely a great venue for good music in Hollywood.

I came with a few friends this past Friday night. Didn't have to wait long to get in. You have to walk up a few stairs. There's one long bar, but the place is VERY dark inside. There's seating along the wall and in another room next to the bar. It's not very large at all. It's like one long space with a smaller room for dining and sitting.
What shocked me most was the co-ed restrooms. It confused every else too, I think.
The first DJ wasn't that great. While he played, no one cared or even moved towards the dance floor. A bunch of people recommended other music to him, but he didn't change it. Towards midnight, the music started getting better. And by better, I mean anything with a beat to it.
Drinks were good. They weren't that strong actually, but I guess those are the ones you should watch out for.
Overall, had a good time, but it always depends on who you're with! -

This was my first experience here and it started off on a sour note. I arrived with 4 porcelain dolled up hot girls, and my guy friend. At the door the ladies walk in without hassle, but upon giving my VALID CALIFORNIA ID, the bouncer hustles me and says it's not a valid ID, if you want in you gotta pay me to let you in. SERIOUS!? He tells me, if he was cop, he would say this ID is no good. Having been pulled over many times living in L.A., my ID has always been good. I was getting HUSTLED!? My guy friend had to pull out a $100 bill for him to let me in. I've been to many bars/clubs and never has this happened. I came on a Tuesday night so it was electronic music. Mind you I too was dressed up in proper attire.
I justify the one star because I can tell this bouncer at the door has hustled MANY before because he was looking to make $ the wrong way. He had a dirty smirk especially seeing that I was walking in with 4 hot girls and wasn't going to just turn around and call it a night.
The bouncer was quite obese, not tall, shaved head and was Caucasian (white). Yelpers beware of this guy.
Though I give 1 star because of the bouncer (and the loss of $100 to him); the DJ's that night were amazing. I haven't heard music this amazing unless you were from the UK or Spain. But the greatness of music is because the DJ's hired that night were great, which does not mean they will be there another night. The club itself is very grungy down feel, it's an old building. The sound system is powerful so much credit goes there for bass you can feel and dance too. -

Dear Cinespace - I mean "Dim Mak Tuesdays,"
It's been a great four years hanging out at this place. I've seen some really cool up and coming bands. I've seen some cool acts and good deejays. And guess who I saw there? Lady Gaga for free one week before she hit it big. I mean huge. She was there with her super buffed out dancers. She was utterly amazing. I thought wow that girl can really belt out a tune. I was so close to the stage. It was not even funny. She sang POKER FACE. It's good to know who is going to be hot before everyone knows who they are. I feel as though this is a privileged skill that I have learned. Anyway, another super fun night to go is to go on DJ Steve Aoki's birthday. It is so packed and the line goes all the way down Hollywood Boulevard. This is one of the most entertaining nights to go there. The music just gets super crazy, super interesting and just plain birthday party level music.
Hope they keep bringing good acts and new cutting edge deejays. This place makes L.A. what it is. -
Review from Chris O.
Hmm, kind of small club, way too loud and the drinks were damn expensive. Nothing was really pleasant about my experience there.

Review from Cintya P.
Well, after being kind of bored with the wacky music the DJ was blasting in the little room (called a dance floor), I realized that there was like a 15:1 ratio of guys to ladies. After realizing that my best friend and I were outnumbered, I held on to her for dear life! Especially when a few of the guys looking over us. Luckily, however, we came with our guy pal and his guy pal!
The venue has a whole bunch of televisions that air some weird 70's commercials. Not sure if that's what they were aiming for...
On a brighter side, FREE VODKA drinks from 10:00pm-11:00pm!
I came on a Tuesday for house music Tuesdays. The DJ that night was not that good/ Some music was just plain bad, some were chill. We did try to dance to our best ability. $10 dollars for cover was definitely not worth it. -

Grimy, trendy, dark, interesting, small.... these are all words to describe this place. I was here to shoot a film. It was quaint for the experience however it is not the type of place that I could see myself hanging in for a good time. It has the NY feel but something about it is really intriguing. Maybe it's the cool pictures on the wall, the graffiti scattered about and all over the bathroom or maybe it's just the allure of the darkness. I might have to come here to experience a regular night.... There's just something that I can't put my finger on about this place. Come check it out and see for yourself.

I've been to this venue a few times for various parties (random asian events, "I Love You Man" the movie party, etc)
But the one that stands out to me is definitely DIM MAK TUESDAYS.
OMG. Do not be greedy and hoard those vodkas like my friends did. HANGOVER!
I remember literally everyone I came with 1) had a massive hangover. 2) was puking later on. 3) didn't want to drink for a while.
The venue itself is pretty cool I'd have to say. Can get pretty crowded sometimes.
Wonder what it would be like to come for one of their movie & dinner events? -

I am the farthest thing from Hollywood so this was a funny Sunday night here at ol' Cinespace.
I was told it was free before 10:30 pm but the door lady said $10 cover. When I said " I thought it was free." She looked around feverishly and just pointed to the stairs.
So it's back to free now?
Ok.
I headed upstairs and viewed a room of maybe 15 people. People were ordering free vodka and the bartenders look PISSED. One snapped at me when I ordered another drink. Not sure why. I was tipping and even was fine with paying when the promo was over.
Attached to that room was hipsters smoking and looking depressed. A few women were giggling. I am guessing it was the coke. They were giving free haircuts this evening. One dude told me the best band ever was playing at the other end of the club. I was excited.
I went to see this band of 2 hipsters play to a room full of hipsters. Every single dude/chick/can't tell what it was looked like:
1) Russel Brand but skinner and weirder
2) Flat ironed hair, anorexic, lil hat, flannel, stoic look.
I felt like I was in " The Shining" except this was the hipster installment. Everyone looked the exact same. Even SF hipsters aren't THIS bad.
Finally, we left.
Very " unique" scene. Beware of that chick charging cover. She's probably pocketing it. I'm too fly for her scam : ) -

ALL KINDS OF GHETTO Y'ALL!... and not just your plain 'ole "run of the mill" ghetto...it's the type of ghetto, where you go home and contemplate your goals in life and how'd you get to the point where you ended up there....lol! But I Loved it, what can I say?! And I was there for a good friend so I had an overall good time, but let me keep it real....
.....THIS PLACE HAD THE NERRRRRVE TO COST $20 TO GET IN?!..... and the "V-I-P" was "S-H-I-T"...
The only thing that separated the two areas was a long ass "pleather" couch that was home base for chicks to grab onto while gettin' felt up by dudes who look like "50 Tyson" (youtube it), while showing everybody how they can do "the dougie", "toot it and boot it" and "the jerk"....lol. Ok, I'm a little jealous, because I can't really do any of those dances....lol.
And to top things off.....
Wait........ I'm not even gonna say........... unless I get enough feedback to determine if it's even necessary to write (I'll save it for the update, should I find myself trapped in hollyHood again).... Too picky perhaps?!... IDK, but the craziest shit happened when I went.....and I'm just gonna' say it involved: a hair weave, a Deney Terrio Dance Fever splits attempt and an ambitious 22 yr old who had waaay too much to drink!...

Interesting lay out. Walk upstairs and you hit the lounge/bar area. To the right, there is the outdoor/smoking section. To the left, through a small entrance, opens up to the biggest area of Cinespace, the dancefloor/bar. There are nights were they keep the dancefloor area closed, depending on how many people/event is being held. The drinks are the standard Hollywood prices.
I am not sure whether I like this place or not. -
Review from Sal K.
Tuesday at 11:15pm, we arrived. It was pass 11pm so we had to pay $10, instead of $5 despite being on the guestlist (which is over at 11pm). I tried to talk to the short ugly asian cashier but no luck. Whatevers, my friend paid for me anyways. It wasn't crowded and the epic open bar was over ;(. The other section of the bar was closed off so it was just the small dance floor and the "outdoor" smoking area. We spent most of our time in the smoking area smelling weed we couldn't locate.
The drinks prices were hefty aka the usual Hollywood prices so I went with a strong classic of mine, dry gin martini with extra olives, for $15. That did the trick and I was enjoying the scene a little more. I met and talked to some people my age, and checked out others. It's mostly the hollywood crowd that accessorizes to the max. Since it was house music and dancing got a tad boring, my friends and I just started rating people. One by one we rated and rapped them with our brutal number system. We drank more and chilled. I like how it's lounge-y and you can actually meet and talk to people here as compared to a regular club.
Overall, my Dim Mak experience was Wack. But I still had a good time. The onions grilling in the hotdog stand outside smelled so good when we decided to leave... I wish I would have gotten one! Haha whatta fatty hindsight! -

How sad that I haven't been reveiwing on Yelp, and that the reason I'm coming on here is to take all but one star away from this place.
Saturday night: I'll sum it up by saying what I have been telling every single one of my friends, "This Saturday night looked like, S. Central, Watts, & Compton teamed up to crash Cinespace."
The ghettoness wasss beyoond intolerable. Dry humping on the floor, drinks being spilled all over the place, and a $20 dollar cover charge. If I wanted to see that shit, I would have gone to an 18 year old's back yard party and seen it for free, saved myself $41.85 and just pounded on a 40 oz of Mickey's.
I'm not sure if I'll be coming back, or if I should give it another shot,
maybe it was "Tiffany-Shantay's" fault cause it was her birthday? Idk.
I'm just disappointed. Truly disappointed.Listed in: ALL TIME FAV'S

Cinespace for me, has been a place to be
More good times here than bad, Even with hipster shag
Been here for a few, Different occasions too
Once for Sonic C, Another time movie viewing
Tho on normal nights, the place ain't all that tight
Kinda ho-hum with the crowd, At least the music's loud
Overall though people here, Seem to have no fear
To have a damn good time, with patron & limes
The bar tab here is normal, but I stepped on through the portal
Into getting free drinks, with kind words and two winks
But with a couple bucks, so I guess not solely luck
Was able to get me tossed, for little to no cost
The parking sit(ch)u here, Is a huge pain in my rear
Overfilled lots there are, With a walk down a bit far
Took us a whole hour, While ghetto fools flex their power
And yelled at the valet tendees, cause being obnoxious they did please
But overall I give it, a fan rate but not livid
No particular passion for this place, it's just a fun nice space
As long as cover's cheap, Otherwise I'd just go eat -

The only reason this gets 2 stars is because of dim mak tuesdays and strong drinks.
Other then that, this place smells like sweat, armpit, and spilled drinks. The room where they play good music is tiny as heck. They let waaay too many people in there. Smells like crap. -

I tried this place a while ago when Crouching Tiny's Dragon Ate The Hidden One, or whatever that movie was called and I think it was the wrong movie to see here. It's not like I chomp my food, or slobber and drool, but eating makes a sound. Your fork touching the plate can make a sound and it feels like you are a total a-hole for even breathing too heavy here.
NOW, if it were a comedy, this place would kick the ass, because laughing and eating and drinking all in one shot is an awesome time if you ask me, so I highly recommend this place, just don't go to a serious or quiet movie and if you do, don't order the salad. It's fresh and i never thought a crisp crunch would be held against me ;)Listed in: Los Angeles Bars!, Los Angeles Movie Theaters

2.5 Stars
I came here one night because I guess this is the spot for Minimal Tech. I have a set of friends that love Minimal Tech, so I decided to tag along with them to enhance my experience with this Electronic Dance Music genre. I didn't have much exposure to this genre, so thought it was a good opportunity to go with some vets. I've only heard Minimal Tech once prior at iLounge by JWA on Minimal Mondays. Didn't care too much for it as I don't agree with the whole Less is More philosophy.
Lets get to the club. You pay the cover and walk upstairs. The cover was $15 that night if you were on the guest list and $20 if you were not. Dirty Birds were headlining that night. Not much of a discount. The club has two rooms. The front room and the back room. The front room is quite small and the back room is medium sized.
The 2.5 Stars has nothing to do with the DJs and the genre. It has to do with the club. By the Way, even though I don't care too much for Minimal Tech, Dirty Birds were pretty sick compared to the other DJs that spun that night. If you do something well, I usually can find an appreciation and respect for it.
Now to the club review. I already mentioned that the guest list is not much of a discount. Cocktails are $13 and Beers are $7. The bathrooms are disgusting and belong in a dive bar. The small room is really bad if you are standing in the back. You are constantly getting bumped by someone walking to the other room. The main room has a step about 10 feet from the stage. Steps and drops have no place in a dark lighted room where people are dancing.
So I didn't care too much for this venue and I still don't care too much for Minimal Tech. You live and you learn.Listed in: My LA

Remember when this place was the shit on Dimmak Tuesdays? Remember the B-list celebrities and when Steve Aoki spinned regularly? And the bands that played in that back room were decent? Well, that was about four years ago, if you don't remember.
I hear they've hiked up the cover, and that Aoki only stops by when he needs an ego boost because he's having a bad hair day :'(Listed in: The Crunk List

4 stars but I minus 1 star on the shietty pours of liquor.
I've been here at least 10 times and all the events varied from Compression (Techno) to Giant (House) to Asian Promoted Hip Hop to regular hip hop.
I like that the front part is dimly lit and the enclosed patio leaves for a nice touch. I like the VIP being elevated over looking the dancefloor. Speakers were okay.
My real gripe is when I spend 14 bux for a drink and I tip 5 bux for ONE drink and my tokyo tea tastes like melon juice. Seriously bro, what the eff? Doesn't matter if it's from the front or the back bar....always WEAK They seriously must get paid bank hourly because after tipping 5 bux, you'd think my second drink would of been stronger but it tasted the same as my first.
I don't get Tokyo Teas just for the taste. I get it b/c of the large % of alcohol = I wanna get faded. AND THESE bartenders don't understand my quest =(
Only time I got pretty faded was through bottle service. -

Came here on a Friday for Compression. $25 entrance fee. We walked up the stairs into a small lounge area. There were tables everywhere which made it feel even smaller. It seems like the club is a bunch of connected rooms, various ones closing and opening throughout the night. The music was good with the techno.
I met a good number of classy-ish looking people, all of whom were friendly . The drinks weren't that expensive for what I thought they would be, the first drink I had, vodka redbull was $11 but I am sad to inform you that I think the price changes depending on the mood the bartender is in, as I heard one of my friends order the same drink later on in the night and it was $14. -
Review from Kristen F.
I've never wanted to kill myself at a bar before. My friend offer to put me out of my miser then he said "but what about me?!?!"
Went here last night for a private party. The crowd consists of these kinds of people; fake people (not literally fake) ass kissers (wait isn't that the same as fake?) scensters plus 100, and bad looks.
We hit the bar to get hammered and forget where we were. Trying to get to the bar was another story. I stood in line behind some guys who took his sweet ass time decided on what to drink while unsuccessfully trying to hit on the bartender. While this is going on some chicks were in and out of line at the bar. Annoyed I cut right in front of them and was given the death stare.
What the hell is wrong with you people?!?! Let me show you how easy it is to order a drink; Step 1 go to bar, Step 2 order drink and by god if your standing in front of me you better do it quick! Step 3 drink and get the fuck out of the way so the person behind you can complete the same steps. It was not as easy as 1, 2, 3.
We took a little stroll around the packed venue then took ourselves outside to the smoking patio. We made fun of a few guys who didn't know how to light a cigar. So much for celebrating lung cancer.
Looked for a place to sit, saw some girl leaving, we bolted to take her spot and we were given the "don't even think about sitting here" look.
Angry, annoyed, and $13 for a drink later we bolted out of there and it WAS easy as 1, 2, 3. -

I've been here On Sundays (Black Light) and Tuesdays ( Dim Mak)
my Sundays here have been a bit bleak. had an ok time here. Drinks were pretty expensive for me (7$ for a stella artois) and a $10 cover. This particular night happened to be a bit empty, not much of a party going on here....i would probably skip this on Sundays.
I had one of my best nights on Dim Mak Tuesdays...I RSVP so i only payed $5 to get in, my friends payed $10. we got their a bit early, at around 10:00pm, we soon realized there was a huge line behind us. So they let us in, so we rushed for the free vodka (free before 11pm) i had maybe 2 or 3 vodka cranberry's ..i ended up paying around $3 dollars, just for the tip..
so at this point i have a pretty good buzz going..so my friends and i start talking to people and what not. i made friends with one of the bouncers , he was really cool. the music was really good too!!! and there was a lot of cute people as well. the only negative thing about this place is that I've heard that it brings a ghetto crowd..and it was evident that night..a fight broke out shortly before closing time...
other than that, i had a blast!!!!!!
come here on Tuesdays! -

There was absolutely no way I was going to pay a cover at an 18+ club. Good thing is, I didn't have to. It was nice inside and bathroom attendant was friendly. Front door gal and one of the promoters/bouncer guys were very nice.
Otherwise, they had some idiot bouncers. Lol. Some dorky looking bouncer was all up in some guy's face because after asking the patron if he wanted to go in, the guy walked in. Bouncer Idiot pulled the guy back by the shirt and told him to try it again. It was only satisfactory to Bouncer Idiot if the guy responded with, "Yes, I would like to come in." Can you say power trip for a small club with a gross crowd inside?! It's pathetic when you know you had more fun at the bar across the street that had a shooting out front. -

New York, NY
First time to LA and what a HUGE disappointment to the nightlife compared to NY.
1.) Clubs close at 2pm
2.) You have to drive 30+ mins in traffic to go anywhere and on the way you see people driving and drinking (liquor) in their car.
3.) Limited parking (must park in garage.)
Maybe its wrong to make such snap judgements about the general nightlife in LA. Maybe I'm misguided by the fact we let a "native" friend direct us to where to go on a friday night. Maybe it also has to do with how I'm exhausted/beyond tired and the last thing on my mind is to "MAN UP" and be a trooper and go out. Maybe my expectations are just too high.
Honestly...NO. This place sucked. Not even being with all my friends and my elementary school friend who moved to LA could make this place good. I expected more from you cali girls. I expected hot girls and super toned/tanned men and instead I got trashy ones with HEAVY HOOKER eye makeup and ridiculously short ugly asian men. The only thing going for these people are bar lighting and beer goggles.
I not only paid $20 to stare at ugly, but we got front row seats to a drug OD escapade! My friends got to witness a seizure from a stoopid dude who snorted too much of something at their table. The idiot did drugs right behind the glass that separated the bartender and their table. DUDE.....GLASS IS SEE THROUGH and we caught every moment up to the point he started to twitch.
I heard this place is better on tuesdays (and I can't imagine how, maybe someone gives birth in the bathroom, but who knows).
For the life of me AND YOU, I highly recommend you to stay away on friday nights. -

No hangover, even one this bad, is going to keep me from an honest yelp review.
Last night was my first time to Cinespace and it was for a private event, so I can only speak to that. Here goes.
Loves it!!! A coworker screened her short film in the back room (I assume it's a back room... unless there's only one room) and the atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect. About 50 of us (maybe more) fit cozily in plush booths around trapezoidal tables. Tiny lighting fixtures hanging low give the place a beautiful ambiance.
I don't know how difficult it is to reserve this space or how much it costs, but the whole event was so nicely done. No frills, just a good venue to premiere something. Oh, and an open bar with a surprisingly great house Cabernet.
And that's how I got here. At work. In a garbage bag dress. Eyes barely open, praying to heaven that my phone doesn't ring all day. -

I give this place 4 stars because it's the only place I know that does dinner and a movie at the same time, and turns into a club afterwards. Interesting concept!
Making a reservation is easy, you can do it online in a few seconds. I was a little wary about trusting the online booking, but sure enough we got there and they had our reservation in the system. You can try calling to make a reservation but when I did it was an answering system and pretty much useless. I made the reservation on the same day on a saturday, so I don't think they get fully booked very quickly.
Free parking on Ivar if you're willing to walk. Ivar is the street perpendicular to Cinespace, so it's only a block to walk, seriously, and it's free, so score to the parking we found along Ivar.
We got there for our reservation at 7pm but they didn't seat us until 7:30. They've got happy hour before the movie, 2 for 1 beer, wine, well drinks. Good deal. At 7:30 they escort you into a much larger lounge type seating area, with the large projection screen on the wall and nice couches to enjoy the movie and enjoy dinner. There is also a private closed off viewing room that you can reserve for a large party. It's glass encased so you can watch the movie and also talk amongst your friends without bothering other customers.
Food was surprisingly tasty and prices were okay. I mean, my food was too salty for my taste, but other than that no complaints. They have a large selection of appetizers, some salads, and entrees like market vegetable lasagna, steak, pork chops, halibut, wood fire pizza. I had a pizza and it was good but I wasn't expecting it to be a super thin crust, basically a tortilla. My boyfriend had the pork chop with balsamic reduction that came with mash, veggies, and mango/green beans. It was quite tasty.
After the movie (we saw Little Miss Sunshine, but they don't just show indie movies, they just showed Miami Vice recently, they've got Groundhog Day coming up, Scanner Darkly, go online for their calendar of events) they clear away the tables and the room turns into a club with a dancefloor and lounge area (bottle service only). At 10pm on saturdays they have free champagne and strawberries, but I had maybe 2 glasses before they said they stopped serving it. That was kind of lame, but considering the amount of people packed into the place they probably had to stop serving the champagne for free lest they go broke.
So there were a lot of people. You get your fair share of artsy fartsy, slutty, teenie boppers, older people; it's just a really really diverse group of people I would say. It was super multicultural, or maybe that's just LA. It's not just hipsters contrary to popular belief. Or at least not on saturday, and it was a really busy saturday.
The music wasn't all that great. Top 40, which is tolerable and can be fun, but it seems like the DJ was playing all the worst songs on the top 40, including that reggaeton stuff that I personally despise, and randomly the theme song for the Fresh Prince of Bel Air tv show (??? don't ask). Whenever a good song came on he'd play it for another 10 seconds and then it'd turn into another horrible Shakira hit. Ooh also the image projections/videos they'd show during the "clubbing" hours were pretty awful.
All in all it was a fun experience being my first time at Cinespace and I would definitely bring out of town friends here to enjoy dinner and a movie. -

I can never forget the time we came here for a colleague's birthday. It was one of those dinner and movie nights. His partner got really drunk (among other things) and would speak up at the most inopportune time when there would be silence on the screen. At the perfect moment, his partner screamed "So, do you want to get your Birthday BJ!" Our colleague embarrassingly gets up and tells us that they should go home.
During the weekend, the lines are crazy so I've only come during the week - that's how the pros do it :) The vibe is hip and you can find a lot of the cool kids here but then again we are in Hollywood so it is expected. Most importantly, they have a conveniently located smoking area so you don't have to leave the bar or friends while sharing your second hand smoke.
Also, there were a few times when they had sponsored free drinks for an hour or two (I'm sure this probably only happens during the week). Otherwise, the drinks are a bit pricey.
As for the food, the one time we ate here was good but certainly not gourmet. I was starving when we arrived so anything seems good at that point but everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal.
The morning after my colleague awkwardly entered my office to apologize and to let my date know that they are not usually so openly affectionate. I told him it was entertaining and she wanted me to ask if he enjoyed his partner's birthday present :)Listed in: I like things stronger,…, I like nonsense

Really fun on a Tuesday night if you're ready to dance to electro with a bunch of hipsters...however, avoid at all costs on Monday nights as it is 18 + and the horny high-schoolers will jump on you before you even walk up the stairs.
Steve Aoki spins here once in a while on a Tuesday, which draws in a fun crowd.
Plus, the outside/inside patio seating on the second floor is pretty fun on a summer night.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

I can't say how the inside of the club was... because I never made it in. I try not to write nasty reviews unless my experience was really bad... but it was.
I hate to sound stuck up, but I'm not a clubber, so I only go to clubs when I am working promotions, in VIP or on a list, mostly because I just plain hate lines. I was on the VIP bottle service list one night when I went to Cinespace and figured "what the hell, I'm on the list and will have a place to sit when I'm tired of dancing." I couldn't even get in the door. I walked up like you do when you're on the list at most clubs and told them what list, and who I was... the lady stared at me, ignored me, and then walked away and let a bunch of other people in without paying.
Then she told me about 20 minutes later I had to get in line. Extremely annoyed, I got in line which didn't move for about an hour. When it finally did, the obnoxious door woman on a power trip then told me I had to pay $25 to get in. I explained that I was on the list yet AGAIN and she told me they stopped letting comps in an hour ago.
Ef this place, I took my money someplace else where they put me on stage and comped my drinks. I tipped our cocktail waitress at THAT place 50% for the value of what we drank. Cinespace missed out, because when I DO go I, I drop cash. Their loss. -

Came here with some "celebrity types" so I was treated well and allowed access to the rooms in the back that other people don't get access to. It was a semi-private party after a concert that was held elsewhere.
I don't recall too much but the interior was stylish, the staff was very nice, the people were good looking, and everything was clean, bathrooms included. The drinks tasted good and were decently priced, from what I remember. Nothing to write home about but had a good time here. -

I ended up having a great time here last night (friday) hence the 4 stars. Initially I was thinking I would give it 2 to 3 stars but everything got better as the night progressed.
We were caravaning over to Cinespace after Manna, got stuck in traffic, made many bad turns in Hollywood (I advise against it), tried to detour, finally got to Ivar, and PAID $20 for parking! That's what we get for getting there late huh? eh...
Everyone is finally back together, we get upstairs, and it's like HELLOOOO people. Geez. Could it have been any more packed? I was already pretty sauced but needed another drink so I just cut in front of everyone, pulled my girls up, pissed off some dude, and got drinks. I needed a drink okay? :) The guy says "Wow... You got in there fast. Thanks for cutting in line. Slick move though." UGH. Whatever homie. There is no line. WE ARE AT A BAR for goodness sakes.
I initially thought the place was really small. All I saw was the main bar area and the dance floor. I had no idea until after my 100th drink that there's a larger dance area and a "indoor" patio area with fireplace. I also finally noticed the tv's everywhere with the naked women on the screens which was a plus to all boys.
They played alot of dance music and hip hop as well in the big dance room. The crowd was nice except for the sleezy and cocky guys. All the girls were actually nice, pretty, and didn't have the "bitchy, get out of my face cuz Im hotter than everyone here" attitude (for the most part). The patio had seating areas around and enough room to stand/walk around as well.
Drinks were strong. Ventilation was pretty good (when the air came on again). Go go dancers did not know how to dance to save their lives and did not put on a good show but at least they had great bodies. I love watching go go dancers dance!!! but not here. :(
Lots of interesting things happened here. All the homies got into some ish, but we all had a great time. SAUCEY TIME FOR ALL!!! Could we have all been any more drunk? I doubt it.
"I plead the 5th on that one" was the most said phrase of the night. hahahah. -

Ahhh cinespace...
If you've read my other reviews, you can probably tell by now that I am an avid hater of lame clubs that require dress code with lame people standing outside.
Yes there are many of those on hollywood blvd...But not at cinespace.
I actually like cinespace. No not another old school hip hop club... More of an indie rock/pop/hip hop kind of place. I guess there is more of a variet of music there... Every week I think there are performers, some good some bad... Music in the main room is comprised of artists varying from kelly clarkson, to le tigre, to block party, to busta rhymes. multifaceted yes.
it's great times. watch out for drunk hipsters as they stumble over you. http://www.dimmak.com/...Listed in: The Places I Go Out

Cinespace: Just another Hollywood bar. Whateeeeeevs.
But this is a review about their Dinner + Movie nights which is, in itself, a very cool concept. You get to hang out in the Cinespace lounge, eat their yummy food (I recommend their thin crust pizza) while watching a movie on their projection screen.
It's a great idea when you're planning a birthday gathering dinner, where 6 of your friends can squeeze into their booths, whisper conversations, eat dinner AND watch one of the latest films (out on DVD).
The downside? Don't always expect the Movie Night to happen because not enough people call ahead to reserve a spot. And no, I don't mean, don't expect this to happen a week before the date. I mean, don't expect this to happen, right down to about 3 hours before it starts?
Yeah, 3 hours. Dudes. What. the. heck. This club had the audacity to drop me a message 3 hours before I was going to have a nice date with my beshert to say "hey, we're cancelling this event, call with questions." What, no apologies!? Thanks for ruining my Friday night.
They don't even have a cancellation policy on their site that warns this may happen. But here's your warning!
I don't know. Maybe I'm sensitive. But I was just sad. -

I had a bday party here this past weekend. The whole shabang. Did the movie and dinner and club after. However, this place is not the place to go. My first time here and i wanted to do something lowkey and fun. The only thing good about this place was the people that i came with.
Bottom line.... Service SUCKED!!! Food SUCKED (cold, dry, nasty)!!!! Crowd Sucked!!! Drinks SUCKED!!! This is never a place to hold a bday party or anything with a big crowd.
If anyone decides to go here... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ... PICK ANOTHER PLACE. If i can give anything smaller then 1 star, i would have. I'm warning you now.... DON'T GO!!!!
