I was fortunate to be a guest at Cinco Estrellas for two Springtime weeks, and I can't think of any word but magical. I have lived in Austin and Manhattan, and have been to the Gage in Marathon and Cibolo Creek Ranch, and all I can say is that "five stars" is the right name for this exquisitely re-imagined Alpine adobe, all right. It's the PERFECT one bedroom casa for anyone who dreams of Santa Fe or Marfa and wants a classic "sky full of stars" West Texas experience with luxurious amenties... including fabulolus artwork, totally comfy bed, iPod docking station, gorgeous livingroom, full diningroom table, one of my favorite bathrooms EVER... and a Vulcan stove, bikes to ride AND a firepit for cool West Texas stargazing. Geesh. That's the short list of what I enjoyed, because the town and entire area were so amazing. CInco Estrellas is a very, very special retreat equadistant from Ft. Davis, Marfa, Marathon, and a totally cool place to stay. THANK YOU to San Antonio artist Kathy Sosa for creating an amazing space in the Gateway to the Big Bend. It's a gift of art as well as habitat.
