ETA 5/18/08: This place was razed!  I can't believe it.  I was in Chelsea the other day and couldn't find it for the life of me.  Stopped in the Chelsea police station to ask where it was, and they said it had been torn down.  Boo hoo!

I tried this place after reading Carolina's review-- it was a good choice.  My husband and I went one Saturday night and we got a seat right away, which was great.  One of the benefits for customers is that since this place is in Chelsea, it doesn't attract much clientele from outside of the immediate area.  Parking is super-easy.  There was a mariachi band going from table to table, which did wonders for the ambiance.

The food is delicious-- I got enchiladas in mole sauce.  Yum!

And if you love corn tortillas like I do, ask for a take-home bag of their freshly made variety.  For $1, I got a HUGE stack (maybe 30?) of them and they were hot off the conveyor belt.  I believe this was a weeknight when I got them, though (I've since gone back for take-out food).  Not sure if they run on the weekends.

Cinco de Mayo was indeed razed earlier this year. The owner has another restaurant in Everett and has moved the tortilleria to Lynn. His plan was to rebuild a larger restaurant in Chelsea...but the plans are on hold at the moment. Stay tuned -- he may be back!
