I've heard Cielo has good house music and a friend of a friend was DJ-ing last night - Mike Arana. And despite trying to recover from a crazy night before, I had a good time nonetheless minus alchol.
The music was good and crowd was a little random but everyone was having a good time and enjoying the good vibes!
I'm bringing my man next time! :)
I flew back home to Jersey on a promise to take someone special to see Ben Watt spin. Amazing time! Thanks to a very sweet person, I was able to say a quick hello to the dj himself after the show. After hearing that I flew from SF, he said "You should have stayed in San Francisco. I'm spinning there next week!" lol. Yes, true, but a promise is a promise, and I always keep my word.
So, amazing. Cielo patrons are dancers. Finally! A club where true deep house fans go. Don't worry about logistics. You get in and you dance and you enjoy the set til it's done. You make new friends, but only with the jeans and sneakers crowd, because you know they're the real deep house people. You dance. You dance. You are exhausted. You're listening to a variation of "guinea pig" when you turn around and see girls wearing tight dresses and heels, sitting at the "reserved" tables. You don't understand what they're about, but you're glad they're not on the dance floor.
You do understand exactly what Cielo is about though. You know it's about NYC, deep house, and partying til you have nothing left to give.
I've seen serious deep house in the Bay Area, the East Coast, and the craziest venues in the Middle East...nobody does house like New York City.
On the subway at 5am, you're all SPENT, and I love that.

Ok Cielo, I'm missing you real bad these days.
I'm craving deep house music like nobody's business… Read more »
I haven't been to Cielo in a while, and was SORELY disappointed with their new "UBER strict" policies. I used to love this place... but seriously, your coat check girl should be fired. She was unnecessarily rude, made me check my HOODIE, claiming that she was saving me the trouble of being turned back by security at the door because they wouldn't let me in with my so called coat. I told her I might want to go chill on the outdoor patio. and she said there were heating lamps (I clearly showed her that I was wearing a sleeveless dress - and if anyone needs proof if my hoodie was coat-like? it was a through and through hoodie, trust me). So okay I check it for a bloody $2 fee.
And then when I get back to the patio - 3 measley heating lamps... in the NYC weather. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? And the worst part is, I saw many guys in coats way thicker.. like real coats.. and some chick in a trench coat. Wait, what? That pissed me off. Okay, so Cielo got shut down a couple times because of drug use and what not.. so they make everyone check their coats and have upped security at the door (pat-downs and what not---for real?). I can understand the business implications behind that.. but forcing me to check my hoodie? REALLY? If i wanted to bring drugs in, I could easily stuff it in my shoe, sticky tape it somewhere womanly, or stuff it in my bra. ENFORCE RULES, but don't be stupid about it. Come on Cielo, don't let me down! I still love you.
p/s: Deep Space on Monday was a little weird. Started with minimal tech then dubstep to dnb and sinister house.. deep house.. hard house.. just super eclectic. Overall great music, but just be sure you know what you're in for.

Great venue, great GREAT sound...totally awesome space for a house club. Not too big, not too small… Read more »
$25 cover?! SERIOUSLY?
I hate paying cover - would I say cielo was worth it? Sort of - DJ was great, and my friend managed to score some drinks at that bar, which made me feel a tiny tiny bit better (ok, a whole lot better). The space is much smaller than I expected though....honestly, if it weren't for the dj and the fantastic sound system, cielo is not really worth the cover charge.
should be 3.5 stars - woman working as the cashier at the door has serious attitude issues and reminds me of a cat lady..call me shallow, but old cat ladies should not be working late nights at hot clubs. totally -1 star. And watch out for the AUTOMATIC 20% gratuity included when buying drinks.....
I've enjoyed reading the reviews of this club, and they seem to fall into two categories: 1) Those who like house music, 2) those who don't or don't care.
First of all, I'd have to say, if you came to Cielo looking for hip-hop, you were misdirected by someone on a scale equivalent to expecting to finding General Tso's chicken on the menu at Burger King. Clearly, its hard to end up with satisfactory results given the expectation. Anyone who told you this, especially if they were bouncer staff at the venue has wronged you, and you should demand an apology. I'm surprised to read that the bouncers here have misrepresented this club, since it really does not need help from this type of partygoer.
Second, if you are just going out on a bender around the meatpacking for whatever reason and you typically don't pay attention to the music you are dancing to other than it not being country or Chinese classical opera, you're probably not going to be satisfied here either. There will be no Rhiana remix, No calle ocho, no ac/dc, no boss, no living on a prayer, not even a biggie smalls throwback. If you come expecting this, you are either going to have to learn to like something else, or make the quick exit as noted on previous reviews. No BBQ pork spare ribs were ever served at Montrachet either. Again, I would agree with anyone's disappointment if the bouncer/line manager misrepresented this to anyone and directed them inside.
Thrid, for those that enjoy house music, you know the key elements:
1) relaxed atmosphere
2) excellent sound system
3) The rest pretty much takes care of itself.
I put this club in the same vein as Vinyl/Arch, Love, and other small House Music venues that have come, but mostly gone over the years in NYC. Its an intimate venue where a core group of people who all know each other can be seen regularly, mixed with the EU and International crowd that either knows the European/International DJs that are booked or has read that they can find this type of music from some travel book.
If you want to go to a place that is even more new york than new york, head to the lobby at Hudson Hotel, the Gansevoort or any number of other places blaring "I KNOW YOU WAN ME! YOU KNOW I WAN CHA? QUIERE RUMBA?" at volume level 40, you will be a great addition to to all those loving skeet and gasolina drenched dancefloors!
But I digress, I am generalizing a little bit. There are a number of other great dance scenes out there in NYC that also would not be satisfied with this place. For example, there is no Salsa or Samba night here. There's no swing, no jazz, no rock, etc.
I think to write a negative review of the place and not even understand what it is you're reviewing is a little counter to the concept of a site like Yelp, as absurd as decrying Five Guys Burgers for not having a good Peking Duck.
I do agree that the cashier could use a little work with the attitude. As for the recent increase in security, those that are veterans in the dance/electronic scene know what that means, '"the NYPD see us rollin', they hatin'..." you know the rest. Lets hope Cielo can keep its doors open despite the pressure.
i've enjoyed roots with Louie vega....rocks!
Mondays at Cielo are still called DeepSpace, the heavy dub-driven club run by legendary DJ Francois K and his wife.
I went there alone tonight, to update my now two year old review, and I'm still in love with it. Here, however, are some observations and descriptions to nuance it a bit.
First of all: this is a club for geeks. Geeks who are so into this music that nothing else really matters. Here you'll see the trying-to-be-cool-office-worker in his white shirt (untucked) and jeans, the overweight dude in sweatpants, the Brüno-esque male with a weird haircut and a black tanktop and the girl who's always dancing by herself in the corner. This is not negative - it's merely an observation. Since I come here a lot I'm probably one of them.
What I mean is that it's not a fancy to-be-seen New York party. A pair of high heels and a short dress won't get you anywhere, as was made embarrassingly clear where two bimbo girls tried their pop-disco dance moves on the floor. They looked around on the aggressively dancing and jumping crowd, and it was obvious that they were out of place - even they knew it.
This place is not about how you look or how gorgeous the skinny model on your arm is. It's not about your money. It's about music. Music that you can't just buy and listen to on your stereo. This is a kind of music that you can only really hear on a massive speaker system like the one they have at Cielo. Music with so much deep bass that it shakes your entire body. You feel the music more than you hear it.
Tonight I just stood there. Staring at the floor. In the corner of my eye: the girl who's always there. She was there back in 2007 too. Always doing the same moves. She still does.
I'm on the verge of tears. Partially because there's a dude who, in his attempt to keep up a conversation with the two misplaces bimbo girls on the floor, is screaming so loud that it is disturbing me. Partially because the whole situation is affecting my body and mood so deeply that I'm unable to register appropriate emotions and thus just feel to cry out of joy.
I calm myself and try to stay in the moment. It's been quite a while since I was here last time and I haven't even had a drink. So I just stand there leaning against the speaker. After about an hour the magic starts kicking in. Very slowly but unmistakably, my body starts moving to the rhythm. My head starts nodding and I feel the impulses in my legs. Unfortunately I have to get up early in the morning so I can't wait for it to develop further. I leave, reassured that next Monday I'll be back out there on the floor.

This place was recommended by one of my favorite DJs (Jason Swamy) who used to live in NYC, but now is in Singapore. Anyway, anyone who likes good house music, should add Cielo to the list.
- Very Good bartenders (who actually remember you)
- Good music
- Good international vibe
Spin, spin, sugar!
Went on a Saturday night.
HORRIBLE!
Is there a zero-star option? One star seems too generous.
We decided to go on the promise of reduced admission. We have never paid admission anywhere but it was getting late and we just decided to go for it.
After being patted down (where else in Meatpacking does this occur? wtf?) we were charged $20. "But the gentleman at the door gave us reduced admission," I said. I was told that regular admission is $25 so we DID get reduced admission. Even the most popular clubs only charge $20 at most, if at all.
After forking over my $20, the music came to a halt for no particular reason for about 1-2 minutes. This happened several times. Music was bad (really crappy house no one could dance to.) I'm a fan of house but maybe there is better music on other nights because people rave about it. On a Saturday - not doing it for me.
The crowd was shockingly terrible. Young, loser-y and not a decently attractive guy in sight.
My friend and I kept giving each other looks and decided to leave- RUN- away from this place and consider it $20 each spent to know better next time.
The only good thing was the bartender wasn't a jerk and let me close my tab after having ordered only one $14 cocktail. I couldn't have been more relieved.
One of the coolest things about Cielo is its amazing lighting rig. Their VJ is almost always synched up to what the DJ is doing on the decks, which I've always been a fan of. WARNING: if you buy a presale ticket to a special night at Cielo, bring (1) the receipt from http://wantickets.com, (2) the credit card you bought the ticket(s) with and (3) your ID (duh). I went their last summer without the receipt but with the credit card and I was turned around at the door and had to go print it out and then wait in line again. Very cool place nonetheless, and sexy website.
If I go out clubbing at all- only at Cielo. Sigh. I fucking love it there.
Coming from Europe I grew up on Electro and House. When I moved to NYC a couple of years ago I couldn't find one decent club that actually played good music. Crappy mainstream college music everywhere... and then I found Cielo.
If you do want to come to Cielo, go on a Thursday. The world's best DJ's (Extrawelt, Loco Dice, Sven Väth, Theo Parrish, Trentemöller etc AAAhhh) play amazing sets. Club is small, which I like.
Reading some reviews I saw that a lot of people seem to go there to find their future spouse or one night stand. COME ON. Try online dating.
Cielo is a place where people come to only dance and enjoy the music.
Also a tip for large groups, especially guys- best is to have an equal amount of women, stand in line in pairs or fours and pretend not to know the others. It works.
Was expecting beaucoup de 'tude on my little weekend of clubbing in NY. But my friend and I (she's from Brussels, I'm from SF) avoided the queue, used a mixture of French, Flemmish, and English to charm the bouncer. He was a cordial gentleman, the music was fantastic, and the crowd was eclectic (locals, Euros, etc) and there was lots of good mingling. Also, a nice patio to cool off between rounds of dancing. Drinks were pricey, but not more so than other places in the Meatpacking. I'll so come back next time I'm in town.
I just moved to the city so I was very excited to hit the clubs..This was not what I had in mind. The guys were all creepy and very pushy.
Even the security was kind of creepy.
I dont think I will be going back there any time soon
Trying to dance to trance/techno SOBER? Eh..tolerable I supposed, didn't quite feel it until the gin from my drink hit me...
I guess it was worth the $12 drink since we didn't pay cover and it was STRONG!
Still then, there were too many distractions to entirely feel the crowd; the old man to the back trying to dance like he's 21, the awkward guy on the steps doing his own thing like noone's watching and the guy in the middle of the dance floor trying to move like JT.
...And then, OUT OF NOWHERE, I was blinded with a blast of cold FOG that sent CHILLS all through my skirt and then, I tried to grab onto the people standing next to me but I was afraid of grabbing the wrong spots, so I ended up standing still for like 20 seconds waiting for the moment to pass...ummm I think I would've enjoyed that much better if I was drunk!
I was surprised though; since it was the perfect moment for douchebags to grab anyone they want anywhere they want...It wasn't as atrocious as I thought it would've been...maybe cause they weren't ready for it to come either.
FIRST STOP OF THE NIGHT : Cielo
DATE: May 16 Saturday
State of mind: Soberr and ready to dance
Drinks: Cranberry Vodka that tasted like 5 shots of Vodka on the rocks
Music: Trance
Crowd: 25+
I'm normally not crazy of trance but this place got some kick ass beats that got me movin'. Like the crowd, like the music, Strong drinks but pricey.
oOO the highlight of the night was the mist/smoke that gushes out of the stage once every hour or do. It's like standing in the dark for two minutes....perhaps its a cue for guys to go for that kiss/grab/whatever.
p.s. I played a joke on my friend by grabbing her butt and totally blaming it on some random guy.
Conclusion: Perhaps this club is my calling for Trance?
This was where my night begins.. reminds me of clubs in asia.. trance/techno/house music!!
I guess i was too hyper up about this place and turned out it's just so-so.. line was quiet long but didn't take us too long to get in.. we were on some guestlist so probably worth the wait if u don't have to honestly I would NEVER pay to get in this place
Drinks were on the expensive side.. crowd is on the weird side.. two extremes.. the HOT ones are SUPER HOT.. the weird ones are.. I lost the word to describe.. I saw 2 60s old grandpa.. let's just leave it that way..
OVERRATED!!
I love going to Cielo because they hands down have the best house music and sound system in the city. The bouncers and bartenders are friendly for a meatpacking club. The crowd is well dressed and super sexy. I especially like the little patio area.
The drinks are obviously very expensive but the atmosphere at Cielo is worth the price.
FYI: Cielo is closed for renovation until Aug 20

Came here on a Sat. with my friends bf who got us a sweet table with dance floor views. I had a blast. I think my experience was made better by the fact we had the table sanctuary to escape to when the place got packed.
The music was great & the crowd was a mix. I'm not a super model, and I doubt you are either. The people on here who bitch about (essentially normal looking people) who have the nerve to come to their club should sit and spin.
As for the security. They are looking for drugs you morons. I doubt they want to touch you any more than I do. Running their hands over your muffin top is probably the last thing they want to be doing.
My friends and I thought it was a lot of fun. I would go back :)
Cielo is the WonderBra bait-and-switch of dance clubs.
We went here during a bachelorette outing and were told "Oh, we'll give you a discount on cover...first four girls free." $10/girl for potential dancing sounded good...but when we went inside, there was:
a) one man rocking out by himself under three spinning disco balls
b) a couple at the bar
c) several waitstaff
After some time trying to rock out on the very empty dancefloor and watching the bride-to-be attempt to get a party of Spaniards to serenade her, we exited only to find a bachelor party waiting at the velvet rope. The bouncer tried to coerce us into staying, but no dice.
I hope he didn't try to convince the bachelor party that there were SO MANY GIRLS that entire bachelorette parties were leaving. Beware bars into which you cannot see...
My sister, 2 girlfriends and I went to Cielo on 8/29 after reading reviews about the awesome hiphop music and vibe. It sounded like a hip spot to try out in the Meatpacking District. We waited in a line for about 5mins, got frisked... then were told $100 for cover. Um, seriously? The lady then so generously lowered it to $20 each. Woopteedoo. We paid and went inside.
[.......confused silence........]
Did we pick the wrong night, wrong DJ or what? This place had a serious 70's swinger vibe going on! We tried dancing, but just felt silly, starting doing Austin Powers moves... made our way to the bar, did a round of Patron shots (to kill the disappointment) and left. I think we spent a total of 15mins here.
I definitely would not go back. Not only was the music and crowd weird, but the layout of the place is IDEAL for creepers! (center, sunken dancefloor)
We went to Taj instead, and had a BLAST. Do yourself a favor and do the same.
This place sucks. More pretentious jackass bouncers at the door LOOKING for reasons not to let you in. After a $25 cover, you then get to sweat your ass off and look at the super ugly crowd that makes you wonder why you even went here in the first place.
If I go to hell, it'll probably resemble Cielo.
this place is really classy. Its very pricey but worth it if you can blow some cash.
the djs are great and its very beautuful and classic "club" the dancefloor is a bit small but its sunken and the crowd is usually older good looking. i love the outdoor patio area. its nice and big and heated and you can drink and smoke and relax from dancing. the drinks are expensive.
i love how they are open during the week
Pros: Hard to find Deep House Music. maybe a little too hard core.
Cons: Expensive Drinks
My first real "Dance Club" in NYC, (I don't think Mercury Bar or Tonic can be considered a D Club), and lets just say i was more than just blown away! Very classy, awesome House music, and a not so crowded interior allowed for some pretty good dancing. Was entertaining some out of town'ers from Vancouver, BC, and they loved it.
Very Expensive though, after all the speakeasy's and low lying bars I've been haunting after coming to the city. My advice, tank up a bit before you get to this place. I need my alcohol to enjoy n dance to House, (I'd think everyone does), and unless its the weekend you received your Stimulus or Tax returns, I'd suggest hitting some $$ bar before getting here.
Chris, my buddy, told be that its on Lonely planet, and hence there was this above normal EU traffic:-D
In my opinion Cielo is the only real club left in the city to hear good house music. The women that the doormen let into this place are beautiful. The doormen are really picky dress to impress.
Long live house music spread the love baby.
I wanted to like this place but I got turned off by $25 cover, $3 semi-mandatory coat check(so pushy!!), unnecessary bag and pocket search like an airport security(do I look like a terrorist or drug dealer??), long wait just to get inside the club (15-20 min wait on Thurs. night ??? Mind you, we already had purchased advance tickets too!!), and the mediocre cheesy house/techno music. Sooo not cool! I didn't mind paying $25 if the DJ was awesome, but unfortunately whoever that was spinning that night sucked.Just don't go when it's Miami Night!
The space was rather too small, but I dig the giant disco balls. As for the whole decor, I expected more poshness considering all the hype that surrounds this place. Crowd was an interesting mix of European tourists, trendy hipsters, buff gay men, hardcore techno clubbers dancing like Jabba Walkies, Indian yappies, Middle Eastern trust fund babies, and some normal middle-class Asians like me. Although I still had a fun night , I won't come back unless there's a cooler DJ like Adam Freeland DJing.
I really enjoy house and Cielo's sound system hits the spot for me. They've had artists I'm familiar with every now and then which is encouraging. For the $25 admission fee, I'd consider it more of a ticket to a show than a cover charge if you end up having to pay it.
The crowd is pretty mixed but definitely outclassed Pacha and Pink Elephant, not that it's hard to do. Definitely a lower creepazoid ratio present than those two spots and nowhere near the cost or hassle in terms of admission... hmm.
Drinks were pricey but I expected it for anything remotely nice in meatpacking.
EXCELLENT!!!!! FROM START TO FINISH.
The place is way better then any other dance club around. Awesome music, perfect design and unbeleivable atmosphere. If you like spend night dancing, Cielo is the best place in NYC.
I was surprized by friendly attitude of personal even in a toilet room))
I went for the second time last weekend with my brother, who was over visiting from the UK, and loved it once again. It's definitely a little on the expensive (and small) side, but then you get what you pay for, as it's got everything just about right.
Minimalist, yet funky decor, impressive sound system, good range of drinks and most importantly excellent (house) tunes. A very cool, laid back crowd too! Definitely look forward to returning as soon poss, as so far it's the only place in NYC that from a club perspective has truly hit the mark.
Definitely among the upper echelons of dance clubs in NYC, although there isn't much competition these days. The sound system is great, you can really feel the bass go through you on the dancefloor. I have been here 4 times, twice to see a specific DJ and twice just to go out with friends. The club has a pretty intimate feel which makes it fun to see some of the major international DJs that the place books. I have found the more low key residents nights to be mostly uninspired though, the last featured a broad mix of techno, electro and funky house which seemed almost arbitrary as if trying to please everyone. You would think on a Saturday night they would make more of an effort to pull in a name DJ, or charge a more reasonable cover. The drink prices are ridiculous. Definitely catering to the bottle service crowd although there really aren't enough seating areas for that to be worth it, I would think. I found the security and staff to be generally friendly.
Attracts just an "OK" crowd really, a lot of collared shirts and a lot of dudes, generally speaking. I like the outdoor area that allows easy access for smokers and the club itself is generally well-designed.
In summary: A nice club to see a specific DJ you like but as a fan of electronic dance music, it would not be my first choice for a regular outing.
I don't know if I can expand much more on the other stellar reviews that already exist for this place, since they are all absolutely well deserved and oh so true. Gorgeous decor, fantastic atmosphere, and fab lighting - feels like you're stepping into another world. The music is consistently fantastic and that's the biggest draw. If you like to dance... if you like a beat... if you love house... you've got to check this place out at least once. Except it won't just be once because you'll want to go back again and again. Every single fellow house fan I've ever met who's gotten a taste of Cielo has loved it and raved.
As others have also mentioned, it's meat-packing district without the notorious obnoxious side of that, which just makes it all the better. Love the place, love the *music*, just love. This is the type of place I chase when I visit NYC and want to sink into some seriously satisfying nightlife.
Sound system: Almost as good as it gets, and along with the usually great lineup of DJ's, is Cielo's best selling point. Grade: A
DJ's: Cielo does a good job of packing in the DJ's, though usually the best come around on the weekdays. For us suits, getting out and partying hard on a weekday usually isn't an option. Grade: A-
Cover: Stop charging $20 covers on the weekend. You're not that cool. Grade: C+
Drinks: On par for the rest of MePa, overpriced and waterdowned drinks slung by overworked and couldn't give a shit bartenders. Grade: D+
Crowd: On the weekdays, it ranges from hipster to yuppie. On the weekends, it ranges from B&T trash to tourists from Nebraska who read about this place in a Lonely Planet guide. Grade: C-
I went to this place last night for Birthday party with my friends and I really like the space. It has a classic feel and the seating is beautiful. The space is really intimate so i would suggest this for a chill night with your boo. The DJ for the evening was wonderful the crowd was diverse. From the crazy hippie chicks, to the suits, to the starving students... with so much variety, and I know now why it is so exclusive. I would love to come back and experience it on a regular night to really see how hard it is to crack the door.
.
I had a great time though.
Great vibe, some of the biggest names in the house music scene have played there... I love the energy.
Wed nights I'm there dancing my sneakers off!!!
$25 cover for guys and girls, including a frisk that is too close for comfort
$3 coat check
$12 drinks up till 1am
after that...$20 patron shots!! That even makes LA prices look good..
The music was pretty awesome, but besides that, the place was small, the crowd was older, and the drinks were too expensive. Unless you like paying for $18-20 drinks that is..
***Warning: Please stay from Cielo on Wednesday Night***
Only one of the very best DJs in the world holds court every Wednesday at his own weekly, Roots. Who might that be? Why, the other half of Masters at Work, Little Louie Vega.
When the maestro is on the deck please activate dancing feet, smiling face, arm waving, sweat glands, emotional highs, and booty shaking beats.
You've been warned.
Stay away. I want the dance floor to myself.
Ok, so I'll share it with the breakers, and the club kids, and the suits, and the party girls in their shimmery dresses.
Cover is $15 but its NYC, what do you expect. Pay the woman the money and get inside.
Intelligent lighting, GIGANTIC disco ball, it was so big there were little disco balls in orbit around it. Booming sound system. The last time I heard something this good was back at the old 177 Townsend in SF.
I'm hooked. Like a 78 year old retiree from Florida to Bingo every Wednesday night.
New York --
You've always been America's shiny peak in dance music culture. Other cities have had their moments but things have often been perfected here. This is why it's so unfortunate to see today's weak dance music culture.
Sure, I hear your defense, there are some spots. But it's changed, atrophied, gotten weaker. You do have Cielo, and we're all thankful for that. It's the best regular spot amongst what's left. And not only the best but it's got it's own thing going, isn't trying to be any other place. (I legitimately hope it spawns imposters as more options are better than less options.)
CIelo has the world class soundsystem. The lights. The design. The acoustics. It's just right. However, this isn't the day of acid house. This isn't even the day of Twilo, or the original Sound Factory. Cielo has bottle service priority. Dress code. There's higher cover for guys, cheaper cover for the ladies. It's a bit of a college town bar in that sense. And sure I don't enjoy sausage fests, but it's just not all about the music.
I love Cielo, but let's call a spade a spade. There's magic missing.
Love,
_C$
I like!
As a friend said when we walked in, "I think we just paid $25 to see a light show!"--well, yeah! The lights were pretty groovy.
The DJ that night was DJ Ted, I think, or something like that. Either way, the beats were great. With a crowd that was fun and un-self-conscious, Cielo came across as a place to just have a good time (which is what clubs were supposed to be, right? before all the crazy social-climbing sht, no?).
Needing some refreshments after an indeterminate amount of time spent bouncing around the dance floor, we go for a couple of shots at the bar, which after tip came to roughly $15/shot (unless I forget how much we drank). "say huh what dis be expen$ive!" (drunk thoughts whilst signing receipt). That said, shots were good.
Since it was June and the weather was nice, the small outdoors space was open and a great spot to get some fresh air and have a conversation. So in total, Cielo pretty much had everything... good crowd, tunes, drinks, spaces, and lights (don't forget the groovy lights!)
The exterior of Cielo should have detered us from coming in but we went in anyway. After all, we did pay $20 bucks a person AND had checked in our coats - no point in backing out now. Pretty sure Danielle B. and I were the only non-European people here that Monday. Actually we were because at one point in the night we went around drunkenly asking everyone if they were from the states. No luck there. We did however meet a bunch of Eastern Europeans! Now don't get me wrong, we are both huge house fans, but I guess we weren't nearly as hardcore as everyone else that was there. Only come if you really enjoy house/trance!
