Wow, is this place channeling Whole Foods or what? Being from Austin, where Whole Foods originated, I couldn't get over the similarities in fonts used, layout or food carried. Pretty funny.

All that to say, it's not a bad idea to mimic Whole Foods - they're doing something right. We did have a difficult time finding enough chicken for our visit, but I guess that's to be expected at the end of a business day. The selection is definitely not diverse, i.e. we couldn't find apple cider, but there is a lot of thought going into what IS put on the shelves. This store furthers the generally 'hippy-ness' vibe that Taos has, but that's quite alright with me.

Thank you Cid's for having frozen green chili I can put in a cooler and road trip home with me.

Thank you for having Nanak's Lip Smoothee, a glorious Taos made chap-stick I have been addicted to since 1998.

Thank you for having "Day of the Dead" pot holders, one of which I just could not resist - especially after having noticed it was $2 cheaper than it was on the square. Which is funny, because the prices at Cid's are on the high side of stoned.

P.S. Thank you for having a deal on Coconut Water during my shopping trip tonight.

    100% agree with J.A.
This place has every single thing I'm looking for at a much better price than Henry's or Whole Foods.
It's clean, it's organized, the people are wonderful, sweet, helpful and friendly. I love this place. I only wish my small community of University Heights in San Diego had a place like this. Although, it would ruined by the city folk, no doubt.

They open at 8am, they close at 8pm. I like that.
Who cares that they are not opened on Sundays? You're on Taos time. If you can't deal with that, go to Vegas. Plus why would you go to the market when you've got the best damned farmer's market EVER!
    Some people, i swear..

Let me start my saying that I'm not a hippy. I don't have ample body hair and that family brings me to the town Taos once or twice a year.  With that said the Hippies and  customers with ample body hair are pretty much the customer base here which adds to the ambiance of this store.

I shopped here twice the weekend i was in town.  The prices were a bit steep, even for taos, but the quality of the products seemed to be worth The price. The meat was freshly cut but seemed to be limited in there verities.  Local free range Eggs were 3.29 for a dozen. The produce is all organic and locally grown.

Over all this is a great little co-op. Clean neat and well staffed.

Holy crap. A tornado took a  Berkley Co-op and flung it into the middle of Taos. You'll find all the same folks here: the neurotic label reader, the high out of hismind  white rasta guy, the passive aggressive dirty look get out of my way guy.

Nice organic meat section. The deli doesn't have enough grab and go items like sandwiches and salads. It's a great place to get some good local ingredients for gifts or just take home if your visiting; Lot's of agave nectar, chile powders and local herbs(Sorry White Rasta Guy, not that kind of herb)

4 stars? This store is so overrated it is absurd.

It appears whoever owns this is trying to emulate Whole Foods very much. Their sign color and font is identical to that of Whole Foods. That's cool, but it really isn't very good in this store at all. There is no bakery, no salad bar, hardly any ready to eat food. The bulk foods area has a limited selection and was filthy. The selection of supplements is okay but not great and prices of all of them were dollars higher than the same one would be at a Whole Foods. The selection of produce was good and looked fresh. The selection of meat was also good and looked fresh, but the meat area stunk of rotten meat to the hilt. The rest of the store has your typical selection of natural, organic, gluten free, etc. groceries selling at sky high prices. Take what a Whole Foods would charge, add another 30%, and that's the price you get in this place. The employees had a pretty neutral vibe. The Albertson's or Smith's down the street are both much better options, and both have pretty darn good natural food departments that would make coming here completely pointless (and costly).

I would have loved to go to Cid's while I was in Taos last weekend. We rented a house and were making a big birthday dinner, and Cid's was easy to find and appeared large enough to have everything we were looking for.

Alas, Cid's is CLOSED on Sundays. What kind of grocery store is closed on Sunday? Isn't Sunday like the official day of grocery shopping nationwide? In any case, we tried to support the local market, but the crazy hours meant we had to seek out the Albertsons. Thank God for the internet on my cell phone.

Everything I want is here. This place blows Whole Foods out of the water.

    Imagine a store where:
    1. ALL the veggies are organic and local.
    2. There is a comprehensive grains, herbs, and snack bulk that is reliable, always stocked, clean, and uses sustainable and local products.
3.Everything you'd ever want in toiletries, lotions, potions, and health items with a super helpful staff who are even willing to help you find those darn measuring spoons and will even order them before you even ask.
    4. Freshly baked goods, sandwiches, etc-also local and sustainable.
    5. Dairy products are all organic and offer local products of high quality that are affordable.
    6. MOST HELPFUL MEAT COUNTER EVER WITH ALL THE BUFFALO YOU'D EVER WANT! Buffalo Heaven. You can get fajita, ground, short rib, roast, steak of Buffalo. Various chicken sausages are freshly made. The butcher is a classically trained chef and was super helpful-even helped me review the menu I was making for dinner and how it might cook better.
    7. Affable and helpful checkout clerks with absolutely no attitude.
    8. seven times better than Rainbow co-op.

    This place rocks it.

It's worth the 11 miles it takes to get here from my house.

Cid's got me through my lactose intolerance days of the 1990's when no one else knew carob flavored soy milk was available! The current Cid's location is much more spacious and very clean. Every time I am back in town this is my "must stop" location. Where else can you get your hempseed oil lip balm with your sage smudging doll?

Back when I was a kid and we didn't care about organic farming or good nutrition, Cid's was a little tiny hole in the wall in the northern section of town.  Now it's a gigantic, sparkling grocery store with tons of wholesome goodness.  It's just like Whole Foods, but better.   In a small town and going through yuppie withdrawal (I do!)?  Then head on over to Cid's.  Get yourself some organic produce or free trade coffee (try the Taos roasted blends) and you'll be just fine!

We love Cid's. I mean, really, really, love it. It is one of the highlights of any trip to Taos, and we wish we had a Cid's in our city. The product selection is fabulous and the vibe is right. We bought a few Cid's reusable grocery bags and use them when we grocery shop; they are excellent conversation starters!

Great health food store, but if you're looking for gourmet stuff you are better off driving to Santa Fe. Lots of organic hippie make-up and green products. Be sure to donate to one of the local cause cans as you leave!
