What first drew me to Ciana was that they use Aveda products.  I love that the products are natural and organic. It's especially important for color - there's no harsh chemicals or smells to irritate your scalp.  I've built a good relationship with my stylist, Lindsey. I now feel really comfortable turning my hair over to her creative hands.  With a bit of direction on the cut and style she does a great job.  Bringing photos and taking the time to talk to her about what you want is helpful.  She's fabulous with color so just let her do what she thinks is best.  I'm really happy with my style and color.  The service is friendly and accommodating.

Melanie does great haircuts and color.  I had my hair destroyed by another local salon after I moved here last summer and I went to Ciana upon a recommendation to have it fixed.  I was able to bring in a picture of what my hair used to look like and Melanie was able to bring it back to life.
Though not inexpensive, it was a lot less than I was expecting for a higher end Los Altos salon and the quality definitely makes it worthwhile!

This is Ciana's hair salon, a few doors down from their fabulous spa (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  I went to this location on accident my first time, and was impressed by the fancy styles I saw here.  All of the chairs were full.

I visited this salon after the recommendations on Yelp. I'm not sure which of the stylists cut my hair but I wasn't hugely impressed with it. It wasn't dreadful but the stylist was simply trimming the ends so it wasn't a hugely technical style. The blow dry was more like a blasting and then over use of straightening irons. This to me is the sign of a poor hairdresser. A good hairdresser should dry hair without needing to straighten every strand afterwards with an iron.
I also expected the interior of the  salon to be nicer than it actually was. So long as it's clean and comfortable I am generally quite happy but I found it rather cold and quite strangely laid out inside. It was late on a Saturday afternoon so it also seemed quite dark inside.
I was their last customer that day and they seemed to rush the whole experience which was hugely disappointing. I seemed to enter and leave in record time and even my husband was shocked when I arrived home in record time.
I definitely wouldn't recommend it as a permanent salon to my friends but I guess it's ok if you're desperate. On a positive note I had a fairly good experience in their spa having treatments and I would and have recommended their beauty treatments to others.
