Churchill's Barber Shop
9 reviews for Churchill's Barber Shop
When I find myself with a little extra time after a hearing, I come to this great place for a haircut.
This is an old fashioned style barber shop with its dark mahogany wood cabinets, large black leather chairs and barbers dressed in black pants, white shirts and bow ties. Walk ins are never a problem and I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a haircut. At only $15 for a standard haircut I am out of the door, knowing that I am going back to the office completely free of any stray hairs. They even have a bar for drinks and also do manly manicure and pedicures as well. :)
Professional, reasonably priced and in a great atmosphere, it is always a pleasure to return to this place.
Another mixed experience. First of all, the haircut (surprisingly) came out alright, which I think is the most important aspect. However, the overall experience was somewhat miserable. I arrived on-time for my haircut, and ended up waiting more 30 minutes while over "walk-ins" were serviced before me, all because the front desk "forgot" that I was waiting. When I finally got a chair, I asked for a #0.5 clipper length on the sides and a #8 on top. My barber then told me that he does not have a #8 clipper, and proceed to run a #5 through the top. He then had the GALL of asking me "is this okay?" What am I suppose to say? "No! It's too short!! Put it back?!"
I made sure the sides were short and tight, and the barber actually delivered, so the end result was not the nightmare I envisioned earlier, though the top is still quite a bit shorter than I had wanted. At $20 (without wash) plus $5 for parking, I had expected better service, and a better haircut. Not sure if I will come back, although I think the result might be predictable had I been more vigilant at guiding the barber as he proceeds (at least he's guide-able). Bottom-line, come at your own risk, especially if you are Asian.
I hate it when I buck the tide of high ratings. I really, really do.
Went here through Yelp during my lunch break. Parked for $15 (15 minute drive, no viable public transportation option).
I've never had a barber shop shave before. I expected a treat. I expected to have an incredibly close shave after a worthy production by an experienced practitioner. There's no doubt that Carlos took his time and seemed to pay close attention to detail.
Furthermore, this place has all of the trappings of a great place but, well, the follow through... I wasn't that impressed. That seems to happen a lot in Miami.
I had my hair shaved to 1/4 inch as usual. Nothing difficult. Did my furry ears, my Mr. Hyde eyebrows and got a few nose hairs, too. Cool. Good job on the neck. But, again, easy stuff.
Now comes the straight razor. Sweet. Hot towels. Lotions. Menthol. More hot towels. More lotions. Powder. Cold towel. Ok. What time is it, anyway? Ah, relax, enjoy the experience. Blade hits my face (which I have a 5 day growth on -- thought this would be a good way to come clean)... blade hits my face and uh, is it sharp enough? Ok, what do I know? More blade. More. This side. That side. Top. Bottom. Right. Left. Wow, this takes a long time. So much for getting out of parking in under an hour.
So here's the kicker. After all of THAT, the guy wips out an electric razor and finishes up. And by "finishes up," I pretty much mean "shaves me." The whole time he was using the electric razor I was thinking, "couldn't we have avoided the drama and saved a lot of time if this is where we were going to end up anyway?"
Is there something I'm missing here? Oh, the bill. $45 plus tip. Huh. I could have had a closer shave in 2 minutes with my Gillette. I'm sorry, I'd love to have a different story.
A few months ago I was in Miami for business and needed a haircut and found Churchill's on Google. Since I was staying close by I thought I would stop in and try them out. They are located next to a Metro Mver stop and I found it very convenient to where I was stying in Downtown.
I found it to be a great experience and now everytime I am back in Miami, which is quite frequently, I get my haircut there.
Carlos is the barber that I see and he is very good but does work a little slow. I can't speak Spanish well so communication is a bit difficult but he always does a fantastic job anyway.
This place provides a nice, old-school barber shop experience. I hope they do well.
I cant believe that my bf hadn't been here yet. What a retro feeling as we walked in to this unique barbershop located behind Macy's in downtown Miami. Its like it was transported in a time warp from early 1900 England with up to date amenities. Carlos, one of several barbers that was there did a great job and even took care of the nasty neck hair my bf had. They have a complimentary bar and i had a maciato as i waited. This is a very professional place so there is none of the hip hop crowd waiting around to get a haircut or trim. Its also very child friendly as i saw a father and son get their haircuts there as well. They have avast array of mens products which i didn't know they existed.
Either way, if you are shopping around brickell or downtown Miami, this is definitely a winner.
the best.....i just left Miami and now have my hair cut by a woman that i swear worked in a state prison. i had to cancel an important engagement because of my hair. i use to have my hair cut by..oh,,my god..forgot the name..but he used to have a pony tail and is the first barber as you enter. the best hair cut ever.everyone super nice. anyhow, this barber, feathered the ends and really put love into my cut. my hair now looks like i used hedge clippers and oh so bad. they make a mean espresso, great magazines, comfy leather furniture to wait in and a super cheap cut.anyhow,I'm shopping for a new barber that does not mow lawns on the side.miss Miami and Churchill's.
I've been cutting my hair with Alex at Churchill's for over 2 years. This is a real barbershop with additional amenities. There is always good music playing; the flat screens have CNN playing and there is plenty of reading material. Wait times are short, but an appointment is recommended. Manicures and pedicures for men and women are also available. There is also a great selection of hair products for sale. Check it out.
Mature men's barber shop in the downtown area, right by Macy*s so if your on the Metro Mover head over the Knight Center and take the Inner Loop to Miami Ave Station. The place itself is a cool spot with wood floors and a downtown feel that makes it ok to pay an extra $5, because a men's haircut should not be more then $15. It's a $20 hair cut you might need an appointment so call in the morning to get an afternoon time. If you are on time, you will be in and out in less then an hour. They have a full espresso & wet bar, a generous collection of magazines will entertain you if you do need to wait and soft leather couches will have you passing out easily after a hard days work. They use hot shaving cream and Matthew is a great barber. I think I've seen some hand and feet... stuff? I don't have the time for that. Try it out.
Great barber shop in the downtown area. The shop is very clean and has a very old fashioned classic barber shop feel. The service is great. Matthew has been cutting my hair for the past 2 years and I have never left unhappy. They also offer a hot shave that they do a great job at. If you are able to take the metro mover it is much quicker than trying to find parking. I usually make an appointment but they welcome walk ins. Haircut runs about 20 bucks and is very worth it.
