I went to Church Street Flowers with no idea what I wanted to do for my wedding bouquet. I knew I liked red flowers and I wanted a small, simple bouquet. I also needed corsages and boutonnires. I was very very happy with what I got. Beautiful flowers, they looked great and they smelled great. The corsages and boutonnires were also beautiful. I would definitely go back to Church Street Flowers and recommend them to anyone looking for flowers for their wedding. You will get high quality flowers for a fair price.

So far I've received two AMAZING arrangements from this place - one from boy and one from my friend.  I tell you, both times I was just blown away by how amazing their flowers are, and how long they last.  Awesome, so awesome.

I just had a wonderful experience here. I called them and said, "I'd like a springy, pretty, fresh $30 bouquet for a baby shower. I'll be there in 10 minutes. Can you start making it now, please?" They said no problem. I got there 10 minutes later and picked up a supergorgeous bouquet -- lilacs, hydrangeas, orchids, tulips -- paid with a credit card instantly, and was out of there. My husband who witnessed the whole thing and waited, ever so briefly, in the car, was stunned and impressed. And I loved it. The woman inside was sweet and efficient too. Love it!

The flowers here are lovely, but the people who own it have let their success go to their head. I have had 2 interactions with them (once asking about a wedding flowers quote, recently trying to see when some flowers ordered for me by  a third party were going to be delivered), and both times the person I dealt with (who I am fairly sure is the owner) needed an attitude adjustment. There are a lot of good small businesses out there who seem happy to o the bare minimum customer service wise... but not here. For gorgeous flowers at better prices with much better service, try Stem on 18th.

(UPDATE:  When I went in to pick up my mom's bday flowers, Brianna recognized me--from my YELP review!!!  I love this place and I love Brianna!)

I cannot say enough good things about this place.  My whole office has been buzzing about the arrangements I had delivered.

We were hosting a cocktail party, featuring X-Rated Fusion Liqueur.  It's pink.  Bright pink.   And we wanted everything PINK.  I'd totally forgotten about getting centerpieces and called Church Street the afternoon before.  No problem--of course I could have them delivered by 3 the next day!

I told the clerk, Brianna, about the party we were throwing and asked her if she was familiar with the drink.  She'd actually just seen it and exclaimed, "I have roses that are the perfect color!!!"  She got me so genuinely excited about these roses over the phone.

Three arrangements were delivered on time, as promised and my mouth just about dropped.  They were gorgeous!  "Low lush" arrangements, those hot pink roses, orchids, and greens that looked fantastic.  People could not stop talking about them.

I felt bad because the first thing I wanted to do was take a picture so I could put it on Yelp--but my camera wasn't in my purse.  I did finally take a picture.  Five days later.  And they were STILL amazing!  Day ten, I finally combined the arrangements, taking out most of the roses (though a few were still going strong), kept all of the orchids, and only threw out the greens that wouldn't fit into the one vase I was keeping.

Honestly, these flowers are quality.  Amazing.  And the price isn't bad either.  Each arrangement was $40 and deliver fee was nominal (10? 12?  Sorry, I forget that piece).  And for two weeks of beauty, it was well worth it.

Oh yea, and the party?  It was fabulous!!!!  Seriously, if you haven't tried X-Rated, it's definitely a girls-night-out drink--sweet and yummy.  You'll forget how much you're drinking until it's much too late....

Every Valentine's Day, every anniversary, every birthday, and every "just because," my bf loyally orders arrangements from Church Street Flowers.  Each and everyone of the arrangements is amazingly perfect and beautiful; I have yet to be disappointed.  They send flowers to restaurants ahead of your reservations. They also send flowers to your work place even if it's difficult to navigate.   I used to work at Neiman Marcus and they still managed to send the flowers to the very specific section of the department requested.  My boyfriend sent me long stem velvety roses this past Valentine's Day that I adored; I just wish they would do that in a bouquet.

I love this place. The people working there are always extremely friendly and helpful, and the arrangements I get from there *never* fail to wow anyone I show them to. Their flowers  are the freshest, and they make such thoughtfully artistic bouquets.

Sometimes when I've gone in there though, it's been really cold in the shop. Buy a heater and get some WARMTH up in that place y'all. The girls' teeth were practically chattering when I stopped by a few days ago.

Oh, and they could probably use a sandwich board or some other ground sign out front so people could see the shop more easily. A sign would also let people know the shop is still open even when they have to take their flowers inside during bad weather.

Those are minor quibbles though. This place is the BEST. And they deliver all over the city too.

Saturday, 3:00 pm. One of my best friend's birthdays. Meeting her at 5:30. I don't have flowers. How could I forget to order flowers?!

After searching for florists between SOMA and the Mission that are actually open at 3:00 on a Saturday, I was told by a few that they couldn't help me on such short notice. I called Church Street Flowers in complete desperation. I was greeting with a kind warm voice who made my problems disappear. I asked for something beautiful with pink, purple and white calla lilies and anything else they thought would look nice - for $50.

I showed up at 5:00 and was handed the most gorgeous bouquet of lilies, orchids, etc. My expectations were far exceeded and my friend was thrilled with the flowers. Thanks for saving me!!

Wow!

The arrangement I got from Church Street Flowers was so stunning if I had been given it before dinner, and had I been my girlfriend, I would have swooned. I felt bad for my girlfriend's other flower arrangements, which she bought to pretty up her house, because when I showed up with my Church Street flowers in hand they all cried their pastel tears, probably why they died so quickly and my flowers were fresh for weeks.

One small point of advice: if you have a price in mind ahead of time, let the worker know so they'll make the perfect arrangement within your budget. If you have no limit, let them know as well. No matter what you'll get a stunning arrangement that lasts a very long time and puts other flowers to shame.

Also, they are open later than other flower shops in SF, so it's really the perfect place for the pre-dinner flower shopping.

Enjoy!

Knowing nothing about flowers, I have to say this place has beautiful arrangements; the flowers last and they're always wrapped nicely. I never feel like I'm handing a cheap cellophane-wrapped bunch of carnations to my wife, and I'm willing to pay for it.

That being said... closing at 7 p.m. on Valentines Day? Huh? The shop was still full of flowers. Am I the only one who gets home after the streetlights come on?

So I had a super strange experience with this place. I was debating about yelping them, but then I read some of the other reviews of people getting shafted by this place on Valentine's so I'm adding my own two cents.

My husband always sends me flowers to my office on Valentine's, so I knew to expect them. I kept going out to the reception area like a dumbass. Nothing came. He called wanting to know whether they were there, and I told him no. Turns out he had ordered from Church Street Flowers TWO WEEKS BEFOREHAND because he'd heard such great things on Yelp and in the Examiner. He tried calling the shop, but their outgoing message made it clear that they were not going to be answering the phone on Valentine's because they were too busy.

So this morning I'm sitting at my desk when my cell rings. It's the dude from the shop calling to apologize for never delivering my flowers. I was impressed!

He said the flowers were sitting right in front of him, but didn't bother to explain why they were never delivered. I was confused!

He told me how sweet I was being about the whole thing, and I explained that my husband was more upset about it than I was (thinking that he had obviously spoken with my husband already and that's why he had called me). He said he hadn't called my husband. I explained that there was no sense delivering the flowers today because I was going out of town for a long weekend and I had no way to get them home from the office because I walk home from work. He said they would waive the delivery fee and get them to me on Tuesday.

Then he asked me whether I thought my husband would be mad if he charged him for the flowers anyway. Whoa, what? WHAT? Are you really asking me, the gift recipient, whether my husband, your CUSTOMER, will be upset if you charge him for flowers that YOU FAILED TO DELIVER ON VALENTINE'S DAY?! What if the flowers were supposed to be a surprise?! I was appalled!

I'm not writing this because I'm upset that I didn't get my flowers (I find it really annoying when women whine about that sort of thing). I realize that Valentine's is about showing affection for your loved ones, which clearly does not require some sort of elaborate or expensive gift. I'm writing this because I would never expected to be treated this way by any business, let alone a florist.

Fellas, use this place at your own peril, especially on a busy holiday.

Most of the flowers are gorgeous & the staff can be hit or miss (I've had really helpful people and been totally ignored) but my biggest complaint is that there are no prices.... Call me cheap, but I think items for purchase should display prices.

I love this flower shop!  The people are friendly and if you're not sure what kind of bouquet to get, they will happily help you out. I've gotten flowers here mainly for birthdays and the recipients of them have always loved them!  I love how they wrap your bouquet in brown paper then tie it together and finish it off with a fresh cut flower - nice touch!

I love getting and giving Church Street Flowers.  They have the most beautiful arrangements and they last so long!    I found Church St. Flowers when I was looking for a florist for my daughter's party.   I came across all of the rave reviews on yelp and decided to try them out.  Sure enough, they didn't disappoint.   I told them the color scheme was pink & brown and gave them my budget and they came up with the most beautiful arrangements...I'll post them up soon.   I told my husband to never buy my flowers anywhere other than Church St. from now on.  So being that my 30th birthday was a few days before Valentine's Day, I was expecting flowers like I've been getting for the past 16 years we've been together.   He ended up buying me 3 bouquets.   The first was from Safeway on the day of my birthday...I knew he was probably messing with me.   Come on, Safeway???  Then he said that the boys picked them out for me so I couldn't really criticize a 5 year old for picking out daisies and carnations.  The second was delivered from an internet florist company the day before Valentine's day...Ok, they were nice- 2 dozen pink roses- but NOT from Church St.  I didn't want to seem ingrateful so I said they were nice and casually asked if perhaps Church St. was closed or too busy to deliver.    Secretly, I was pissed that he didn't listen to me after I told him EXACTLY what I wanted.  So finally, on Valentine's Day, I get my beautiful rose, lily, & orchid arrangement from Church St. Flowers    It would've been a very chilly Valentine's Day if he hadn't ordered from them, and I'm not talking about the weather.   So thank you, Church St. Flowers for saving our Valentine's Day!!!

Church Street Flowers is absolutely amazing!! I live in San Diego and called on a Saturday afternoon needing a flowers delivered that afternoon to a friend that got some bad news. They said no problem! I told her I wanted to spend $50 not including delivery and and I wanted something really cheery! Not more than two hours later I got a call from my friend. Super fast! And they were absolutely beautiful! More than I expected!

I've ordered two bouquets from Church Street Flowers, and both have been absolutely breathtaking.  I mean REALLY NICE.  I ordered a birthday bouquet for one of my supervisors (straight manly man type), and he LOVED it.  The arrangement held many greens and the flowers were all of the white-green variety.  They were so tasteful, and not over stuffed.  The only complaint I have about CSF is the bouquets will typically show up 15 minutes before the time I've told them is ABSOLUTELY the latest the arrangement could possibly arrive, and they never call to follow up or to let you know the arrangement has gone out.  In short, the arrangements keep me coming back, but make sure the drop dead time you tell them is something in your comfort zone- because that's about when it will get there!

A friend of mine recently had an experience that called for flowers. I (get this) used the site for its intended purpose and not to laugh at people and did a quick yelp search and after reading all of the excellent reviews written by several of my favorites knew this was the place to order said flowers. I called in the order over the phone and quickly explained my dilemma : I had a) never ordered flowers before and have zero knowledge of flowers and b) aforementioned friend is someone with a highly refined sense of style and I didn't want to mess this up. Stephanie immediately gave suggestions and after going over some possibilities, we agreed on some basic colors and I let them do the rest.

The next day, I received a voice mail from Church Street Flowers that they had not been able to get in touch with my friend to deliver, but to rest assured that they would continue to try and that they would keep replacing the flowers until they were able to deliver them, so she would not be getting old ones.

The end result is that friend received the flowers and was very, very happy with them. I saw photos of the arrangement and they are perfect. A couple of weeks later, they are blossoming and still beautiful.

And so, I am happy to continue to use the site for its intended purpose and whole-heartedly recommend this shop for your flower needs!

I just got a bouquet from here and the customer service was very good. The girls who work there always offer good options for arrangements and colors. The place is small yet has it's regulars that go there to appease there dates and lovers. If you have a dinner date for two at one of the surrounding restaurants in the area, drop by Church St Flowers for a colorful and bright arrangement. Your date will be stoked for sure that you were one step ahead of your game...!!! Pick em' and smell..!

Rose petals in my bathtub.  Stargazers in a vase.  Wrapped lilies.  Get the idea?  I LOVE flowers.  LOVE.  I haven't given up hope that one day I'll be bombarded with flowers from secret (or even not-so-secret) admirers and that the arrangements will come from Church Street Flowers.  Sure, it's supposed to be the thought that counts when you send flowers.  Um, not really, if you see the difference between CSF's work and the Safeway up the street.  Until I move to SF, I'll have to be content with buying flowers for my lovely hosts... :)

THANK YOU YELP and CHURCH STREET FLOWERS!!

My family recently went through a loss and the florist I always went to now only does commercial arrangements.  So i went on trusty yelp and found Church Street Flowers!
All of you left great reveiws so I went there.  It's a very unassuming shop, small but nice.  The girl at the front counter was very helpful and Tom was awesome.
I gave them a dollar figure and they sent the most beautiful spray of orchids, tulips, lilies, hydrangea, and others I couldn't identify :-).  Needless to say the arrangement was absolutely gorgeous.
To make the experience even better, my cousin from So Cal saw the flowers at the viewing and wanted to order some for the service the next day.   She called at around 6:30pm the night before (they close at 7pm) and was able to get an order in and delivered by the next day before 2pm.  Even with that short of notice, Church Street Flowers was able to put together another beautiful arrangement of orchids and magnolias, etc and have it to the funeral parlor well in advance!
If you need flowers for ANY occasion, you should defintely give Church Street Flowers a shot.  They're now my flower shop of choice!
Thank you for helping make a sad day so beautiful.

These guys are like family to us- in fact, they're on our Christmas card list! They were there when my wife got her first teaching job, when our son was born, when i was in deep doo-doo with the missus, or even just because.

I definitely miss popping in, just to say hi, and walking out with a bunch of flowers; we moved out of state, btw, they're still in business.

My favorite flower-buying experience with them was last Valentine's day, my son and I picked up a bouquet I had ordered for his mom. While we were there, they kept giving him little flowers to give to his mom, and they loved that he kept smelling everything he could find. He's a sniffer, that kid. So,we walked out of there with basically two bouquets- one big one and one toddler-sized one, and my son was so proud of his flowers.

Thank you, guys. You are definitely missed. Your Christmas card will be in the mail soon.

When Zuzu Petals/Xapno is closed, this is my knight shining armor. They're open until 7pm, which is awesome. Otherwise I wlll have to go to Safeway, begrudgingly. Why? It's not because Safeway has a bad flowers. No, their flowers are okay. I just suck at arranging flowers and don't like the one they already made.

However, I did attempt to pick the flowers myself and yes, a minute later I gave up. I had no idea what's good with such and such. Luckily, the nice lady who worked there helped me right away. She made me an awesome bouquet. She also stuck within the budget I gave her, I left very much happy.

The flowers were fresh and smelled so good. Unfortunately, it was for a friend who was having a b'day party. I did get tempted to keep it for myself.

So it's Valentines Day, and I have to go find out where the flowers my partner had ordered for me ended up.  Not exactly a wonderful surprise is it?  So after talking to the manager (or owner, hopefully not since his attitude was that they had so many orders but only 2 got screwed up and mine was one that was screwed up but isn't it great that only 2 got screwed up?), the store had no idea what happened to my flowers and there was no call to my partner to say that the flowers were late or not arriving.

Oh by the way, it was 6:50pm when I ended up going to the store.  My flowers were to be delivered to my work and I had checked at work with my coworker at 6:30pm.  I will definitely not recommend this store due to the complete failure of doing their job.  Plus the attitude of the person I dealt with was very nonchalant.  He did offer to return the money, and offered to send flowers tomorrow as a token.  To me, that is to make him feel better, not me.

It is too bad about this place, as I like to support local businesses.  I will just not support this one.

Though Jon Bon Jovi's "Bed of Roses" lyrics played a formative role in my teenage days, as the years passed I rarely thought about sleeping on flowers, much less the exact meaning of the phrase to "be just as close as the Holy Ghost is."

Now I know that, should I ever find the need for just such a bed of roses, Church Street Flowers is the only place I'd turn to for just such a special occasion. Equisite. Please order flowers from here for yourself, your lover, your parents, your favorite presidential candidate...

I called Michael at Church Street Flowers based on Yelpers recommendations. Thanks guys! The arrangements for our wedding were breathtaking. Tight clusters of complimentary shapes and colors. Creative yet classic. As mentioned before, the service was impeccable. Did I mention that the order was more beautiful than dreaming?

Although I had never considered having a regular florist, Church Street has won my heart. So, again, thank you Yelpers and thank you Michael & crew.

They helped me pick out the perfect "in like" flower and then months later the perfect "in love" flower.

When I went to see my sister in Texas for her 40th B-day I wanted to surprise her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

So I walked down to the Church Street Flowers shop, told the nice girl there what colors I was looking for and that the flowers had to withstand the abuse of being transported in the cattle car (Economy) section of the plane.

I couldn't have been happier when I picked them up. Not only was the bouquet absolutely gorgeous, but also just the right size and tightly wrapped for my little journey.

I even had a couple of flight attendants commenting on the flowers when I got on the plane. #1 "Those are beautiful, did you just get married?" Um no, I've done that once already that was enough. Goes flight attendant #2, "omg, I have never seen flowers like this".

And oh yeah, my sister liked them too!

I was hanging out with a friend the other week, and she had to drop something off at her older brother's place in Orinda.  We get to his house and she's talking to him, I'm poking around looking at their stuff.  There was a vase of dried flowers sitting on his mantle.  I asked him about them.

Today, February 20, is John and Martin's anniversary, except not really.  John and Martin were one of the thousands same-sex couples who were able to get married during the period from February 12 to March 11 of 2004 under the Beaux Arts dome of San Francisco's City Hall.  While they were waiting in line, they had received this particular bouquet from Church Street Flowers, with a sealed note.  I asked him if I could have a copy of it, since I didn't want to change any of the words of the note.

With John and Martin's permission, I give you this note.

"To the Happy Couple,

I am a mother in Kansas City, MO and I don't know you.  My 16 year old son told me and everyone else in our community that he was gay last year.  I told him that I will always love and support him but since then, he has been beaten up twice and is constantly being picked on in school.  He doesn't have any friends and he is always ditching school.  I don't know what to do and I am afraid he is depressed.  My only wish is that he could live openly and happily like you do without the fear of being attacked for who he is.  Thank you for being you, for both me and my son.

Love,
One Mother in Kansas City"

I cried like a baby.

Bravo, Church Street.  Bravo.

This place is the BEST!! The absolute bees knees! I'm the kind of girl who can rationalize any purchase that makes her feel good... the kind who will commit to something crazy like buying fresh cut flowers each week just to add that special "something" to the house... and while I can't afford CSF's beautiful arrangements each week - I revel in their beauty each time I get one and try to recreate their masterpieces when I go to the flower mart.

If you're looking for something special, a truly inspired pairing of colors, textures, etc.. then this is the place to go.

If you (or your lady-friend) like a dozen red roses, keep walking - no, on second thought, you should probably try here anyway - maybe you'll realize what you've been missing all along.

In addition to being really great at what they do and extremely professional (timely, polite, attentive) the people here are very nice, sensitive, caring and can help come up with a floral arrangement for any good (or bad) event that comes along.

Thanks, you guys! Keep up the good work!

I have never gotten flowers from a man in my entire fucking life.  not fucking once.  not from boyfriends or dates or dads or brothers or even friends.  not fucking once.  i am reading these fucking reviews and it's like, "my husband buys me a new bouquet every time the last one he bought me dies!  i am so lucky and loved!  envy me!  my life is better than yours!  also, i am very good looking and having sex right now in a pile of money while you write reviews on yelp instead of working like you are supposed to, you are going to die broke and alone but i don't care because i'm fucking in this giant pile of money and flowers!"

man, fuck everyone.

also, really beautiful flowers here.  like, really beautiful.  and a sweet staff who actually thought i was buying flowers because i have love in my life which was so sweet that they thought such a sad sack as myself might have a romantic type person to buy flowers for.  they are wrong.  but sweet.  i bought some for a friend who is a little sad today and it brightened his day.  see, i am turning the tables.

So Valentine's Day is coming up and for once you have someone to order flowers for. What do you do? Taking a little peep around one of those online business review sites, you come across one for Church Flowers. The reviews seem good, why not call them up.

Me: Hello, I was wondering how much a dozen white roses would be
Them: What day is it for?
Me: (thinking, "shit, here's where they get me") ...Valentine's Day
Them: it'll be $ plus $ for delivery
Me: (ok, better do it) Sure

Time passes, the sun rises and sets, the phase of the moon changes, and Valentine's Day arrives

9:30 AM, my phone rings:
Me: Hello
Her: There is a gorgeous arrangement of flowers on my desk
Me: Neat
Her: They are so beautiful, thank you

Points scored, sweet. Still, I've seen flower arrangements and was surprised at the reaction that I got. That night, I went over to her place for a little dinner. Upon arrival, I spy the bouquet...

Holy

Freaking

God

They were amazing. It was one of the best arrangements that I'd seen in a while. Not many people know this, but I took a flower arranging class back in the day. It forever skewed me and when I see arrangements that could use a little help, I tend to pick at it. But this...this not only survived the delivery to her office but also the trip back to her apartment. I couldn't find a single thing that I wanted to adjust on there. Amazing.

I highly recommend Church Street Flowers, you'd be a fool not to go there.

It is very easy to have an expert help you put a little flower arrangement together over the phone. I like that they can use their knowledge to fill out the gaps. In other words, they don't deliver something that looks bad.

Also, they deliver gardenias in a glass bowl, so after the flowers are gone, you can use it as a handsome holder for coins.

Though I appreciate tradition and classics I am definitely not your dozen red roses kind of gal; I like creativity, spunk and a bit of the exotic in my bouquets. CSF is beyond, exquisite flower artistry. To the men out there: once you see how thrilled your recipients are your lovers may change, but your florist never will.
