The guy who runs the place is such a sweetheart.

Their breakfast is great.  You get a ton of food for a great price.  Usually we share breakfast.  Have not tried a burger so I cannot comment.

The dining room needs some help.  The napkins seem to be whatever he can get cheapest so they tend to be little tiny ones.  The decor lack inspiration and could use some touching up.  It screams of a place that is on the verge of bankruptcy.

They served the awesome and humongus burgers and the guy who ran this place seemed like such a nice guy.

I guess it's part of the way things are going right now with the economy.

Chubby's Burgers is no more and has been replaced by a Mongolian BBQ.

Another new place to try - and Yelp about.

    Good bye Chubby's!

Are you hungry?!? Can you come before or after the lunch rush... or walk from a nearby business... or open to trying your luck at getting a parking space at lunch?

BTW, if the line is too long at Pho Queen, this is just a couple of doors down in the samestrip mall.

Big portions, burgers can be cooked to order, friendly owner, but....
a bland atmosphere and ridiculously bad parking at lunch.

I personally like the owner and think that this place has real potential.
    Where I'd start:

    1) Ask how people want their burgers cooked
    2) Get the guy who hangs out in front of the store next door to go somewhere else to smoke (can't eat outside when he's there and the smoke goes inside)

    3) Spice up the place to give it some atmosphere.
--- Easiest way is bright updated paint colors

    4) Add more specials

    5) Add more goodies at the do-it-yourself condiment table

Having said that the food is quite a bit larger than St. Johns, but not quite as juicy.  They've also got more schtick and more specials.
People are going from Twin Creeks and passing thru Tasman to go another mile to St. John's.  The owner's missing a real chance here and that's too bad.

Lastly: They are open for breakfast if you want a big breakfast and they do close EARLY! (7pm?)

On my first visit to Chubby's I ordered the jumbo burger with fries. My wait was pretty long, at least ten minutes. The burger was very good and quite large. The fixins bar was decent but could be better (just the basics). Fries were very disappointing - cold and soggy. Cost was $5.40, a good price if the fries had been good, not as good for what I got.

On a later visit I decided on the same order, since I was craving a burger. My experience was equivalent, except this time the fries were hot and very good. All in all, my meal was satisfying, if not all that good for me. But I kept having the following thought: "This tastes just like the burger and fries from the roach coach outside my office. Why wouldn't I go there and save the time and trip?" A very good question with an obvious answer. I may be back to try some other non-burger items if I am in the area and need a bite, but this is definitely not a destination restaurant for me.

Went here for lunch as I was in a burger craving mood.  Ordered the jumbo bacon cheeseburger, and was not at all disappointed.  The meat was done perfectly, not too overcooked, yet not still bleeding either.

As other people have mentioned, the gf found the first table we chose to sit at dirty with crumbs.  We moved to a neighboring one, no big deal.

The host (owner?) is quite a gregarious Greek fellow, who seems eager to please, but could probably rub some people the wrong way.

If you need to calm your inner carnivore and are in the Sunnyvale area, give this place a try.  It's not fine dining, but it hits the spot.

I like the steak sandwiches here.

It used to be a burger joint owned by a Chinese family but they have since sold it. The new owners put some cute patio furniture so patrons can eat outside.

This place is a dump. Plain and simple. I wouldn't make you eat the burgers here if I wanted to kill you for raping my cat. Honestly. I got suckered into going here because my crew was in a 'rush for time'... Mistake #1. Going in when I saw the chinese couple that used to run this greasy spoon was gone... Mistake #2.

Do yourself a favor, beat someone to death, go to jail and eat the food there if your really hungry. Chubby's just sucks.

    Bully!

I've only been here for breakfast, but they have a great variety of breakfast items made to order!  With a name like Chubby's, you'd think the food is greasy or loaded with fat, but it's not!  The food is pretty much what you would make at home.  The service is great too!

When I went during the week, there were lots of regulars -- mainly delivery guys, EMTs, service technicians, etc., since there's a commercial area nearby.  That can explain the large portions!

2.5 stars. A step up from fast food - typical greasy spoon American diner, with some Greek and Middle Eastern options thrown in. I work nearby in the area with all the 'wood streets and come here maybe once every 6 months when I crave greasy food. The chicken strips and fries are pretty good for satisfying that craving, for $5.99. The rest of the menu has various breakfast, lunch and dinner items, all in the neighborhood of $10. They also have a sad-looking salad bar. I have a feeling it wouldn't get that much play from their regular clientele even if it was fabulous, so they don't put much effort into it.

The other patrons are pretty much all....wait for it....chubby, male, and 40-ish or over. The whole place is sticky with grease, there are a few flies buzzing around, and it's in a nondescript strip mall with a crowded parking lot. There is also a TV with captions that are about 2 sentences behind the audio. If that's your thing, then this is the hangout for you. Ain't hatin', just sayin'.

Surprisingly good with large portions. The breakfast burritos are amazing. Loaded with meat and cheese. They don't skimp at all! My only real complaint is that the hours are not exactly convenient. They're open pretty early in the morning, but close really early as well. They're also closed two days out of the week.
Still, they have a pretty at-home atmosphere and friendly service. I definitely recommend them.

I'm going 2 stars here...I think new people bought this place....The guy at the counter who took my order was very nice, polite and efficient
The food though...different story. I ordered a cheesburger and it was horrible - it was over cooked and the bun was cold.
A cheeseburger, fries and a soda was about 8 bucks....what a rip..could have eaten better at mickey d's....

Used to go here a lot when it was owned by the Chinese couple. Went there couple time after they sold it.

Their burger is still good as usual, juicy and cooked just right. I love their Pineapple burger but other sandwiches seemed a bit too greasy for me.

The place is indeed not too clean and not a comfortable place to sit in. Oh well, if I want a cozy place to relax, I'll go next door A.B.O. coffee and dessert, to have a nice cup of organic coffee and their famous Chicken Salad on a Ciabatta bread.

I still go to Chubby once in a while, but I normally will take it to go.

This place is kind of dirty.  Old crumbs are on the floor and the tables appeared to have been wiped down with a dirty rag.  Order the food at the counter.  A Jumbo Cheeseburger with fries and a small drink is $7.  The food is then cooked to order and brought to your dirty table on real plates with greasy fingerprints.  If you want lettuce, tomato, pickle, etc. on your burger, you have to get up and go over to a condiment bar.  That area is somewhat clean but questionable.

The burger wasn't that bad.  It had a nice charbroil flavor but I just didn't feel comfortable with it.

There was a girl they hired to bus tables and she just sat there staring at me the whole time.  I think she may be "mentally challenged."  I appreciate that they gave her an opportunity to find employment but have her do something other than stare at everyone.  It's quite uncomfortable.

    Your mileage may vary.

The food deserves 3 stars, maybe 3.5.  Not bad!

However,  the water I got (from the fountain machine in a plastic cup), had these little brown flecks in it.  They looked like a cross between 50 small insect legs, and dried up powdered rat poop floating in the water.

    Ugh.

This place used to be a great dive when it was off Moffet Field in a shanty by the railroad tracks. The menu hasn't changed but the ambiance unfortunately is now bland. I've never had breakfast here but the burgers and sandwiches are what you expect from your diner/greasy spoon. Decent size portions for reasonable prices and fast service if you're in a time crunch. Burger+Bacon+Cheese=Goodness.

This place is alright. The pineapple burger is good, but inside the tables and salt shakers are coated with that sticky residue from the fryers, the kind you might experience in a bad Chinese restaurant. I got a french dip sandwich from them and it had one slice of roast beef in it--wack. I haven't been back in several months. If you want a good burger, go to St. John's bar and grill down the road.

Went here for lunch yesterday.  It's a total guy place to eat....burgers, hotdogs, philly cheesesteak sandwiches, fries.....  The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that I had was just eh, but my friend order the Mushroom Chicken Sandwich, which was huge and looked pretty good.  They also have breakfast served all day and I'm thinking about trying one of those breakfast sandwiches the next time I come in.

The BF and I biked to this plaza for the Philly cheesesteak next door.  Unfortunately, they're closed on Saturdays, so we were left with Chubby's Broiler as the place to fill up our very hungry tummies. I got a patty melt with fries. Both were ok and served the purpose that day.  I probably won't be planning a return trip anytime soon though.
