You just have to love the old 70's style decor. We used to go with the family all the time when I was a kid. My grandfather always goes when he comes to visit. The staff are always pleasant. The Gold room . . . . . enough said. Great Greek salads and pizza. No matter when you go, they are always consistent. Miss having good pizza and salads. It's a must try.

The restaurant is not so good (iffy service and straight-out-of-the-70's decor), but the barroom-style pizza is amazing and the Greek salads are fantastic. I grew up close to Christo's and this has always been our go-to take out pizza (and salad!) joint.

I love this place. Yah the decor is straight out of the 70's but the pizza and greek salads make up for it. The best around.
We are two of those OLD smelly people that Elizabeth H. refered to, we go to Christos for special occassions. My wife loves the lamb dinner and the salad. I enjoy the Surf and Turf with a greek salad, we have never been disappointed. When we have guests, this is the place we take them to.

Who doesn't like Christos? It's a legend. I get nostalgic for my youth whenever I come here because my whole family has been coming for like 40 years. The decor is very campy and 60s/70sish, but it's party of the charm. I don't understand how they can only hire female waitresses and make them wear skirts. But whatever works.
The gold room is THE only place to sit. The green room is all right, it's just very noisy because of the bar. The red and blue rooms are noisy as well. Christo himself (maybe) still announces parties over a loud microphone. True, there are a lot of old folks here, but usually they know good value for their money. My favorite dishes include the pizza, the chicken lemon soup, and the broiled scrod. A lot of people like the lamb too. I actually find the side dishes to be the best things. The greek style rice and green beans are soooo good. Try the grapenut pudding for dessert.
Even though I live in San Francisco now, I have to say something about my family's all-time favorite special occasion restaurant for the past 43 years. (They took me here for my birthday last night.)
Eh.
One thing that it does have going for it is the gold room and its funky conical-shaped structure in the center which is something right out of Las Vegas. The waitresses are old-fashioned friendly and referred to as "hon."
May my very large family forgive me, but the only consistently good items that this places serves up for me now are the memories.
I'll be honest, ever since I started working in Brockton I was really excited to try their Greek Salad. I finally made it in there on Friday night and it was packed - loads and loads of...er.....people in their "golden years." However, I found it quaint in a 70s American kind of way. It was a one hour wait for the pizza so I can't really comment on that, but the salad was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I think part of the excitement is b/c it is completely covered in feta cheese. I literally had to dig around to get lettuce - too much cheese for me. But, that be said, I might grab a salad from there now and again if I'm in the mood - and I'm still curious about the pizza.

As I reside in Boston, I don't get to go to Brockton so often. But I was there yesterday and could not miss the opportunity of having Christo's greek salad. I heard all that hype from the commercial that's aired during Phantom Gourmet hour.
Although I did not order the greek salad alone, it came with Shish Kabob I ordered as a side. It was indeed delicious. I think it had a flavor of olive oil and a hint of vinegar. I don't like salad dressing too sour from vinegar but this one was just enough not to make me dislike it.
More importantly, lamb shish kabob was very delicious. Having cooked myself in past, lamb is quite tough meat to cook as it gets dry quite easily. But this one came out very juicy and flavorful.
I love the atmosphere. Both young and old congregates(maybe more old at the time as I was there?). This made it feel very homey. Whenever I dine in Boston, I don't see very many seniors or kids around. So I think that made dining at Christo's made it sepcial to me.
Next time, I would like to order Greek salad alone. I saw the portion and that would definitely do me good.
Cristo's is a Brockton landmark, noted for it's famous greek salad.
It is a family style place mostly catering to working class folks with mostly american and light greek fare. A perfect meal would be pizza and greek salad, IMHO. Part of the atmosphere is hearing the host (Christo) calling people to their table..
"Party of 7 for the Gold room" (said in a heavy greek accent).
Cristo's also sells their greek salads in catering sizes. Quite often my family will order a large (baking pan size) greek salad for parties or events.
You should experience Christo's at least once in your life.

I'm only going to comment on two things off of the menu that i've had, quite frequently, over the years.
Their pizzas are far too "heavy." If you're used to eating an entire Lynwood or Town Spa pizza with no problem, then you'll most likely have trouble with a Christo's despite it being the same diameter. Its a larger crust and far too much cheese.
Their swordfish is consistently good, when its available. Its something my mother has had for years and i'll sometimes get when i'm visiting them and they want to go to Christos.
Good food at good prices. The moldy oldies love it...place is always packed with them. That's a crowd that's pretty good at hunting down bargains, so you know you're not going to have your wallet picked clean their.
The greek salad IS the best greek salad around, but hey- it's a salad. It's the bacon pizza that keeps me coming back there.

Well, the last time I went to Christo's I didn't have a great experience. I went in on a friday around 1pm and the place was filled with elderly people. I have nothing against this group of people (since I am a social worker in a elderly service agency) but the place smelled like a nursing home when we sat at our table. As for the food, myself and a friend ordered their famous greek salad with both honey greek dressing and the regular greek to choose from. The salad was to die for! It' so big and under 7 bucks! We split that and a barbeque chicken pizza. The pizza's are bar-style and very greasy. They are also inexpensive. I didn't like this particular flavor though, the chicken seemed fake and I ended up picking it off. The pizza was good though, I wished I had gotten plain, and I also wished we had ordered it for take-out because the smell was repulsive!
