"I was so excited when I found out Maria opened her own salon in my neighborhood. The space is simple, refreshing and comfortable. (Love…" read more »
Trapped out in suburbia and all hopped up on fertility medications (my moods swinging like a monkey) I succumbed to the siren song of the pharmacy hair color aisle. When my roots turned hot orange I upped the ante on my own idiocy and TRIED TO FIX IT MYSELF. The end result - matte, wet bark-colored hair with greenish undertones and neon-y orange still showing through at the roots. Nice! The next morning - without calling for an appointment I slunk into the Christopher Stanley Salon (I figured that no colorist who took one look at what I'd done to my hair would be cruel enough to make me wait a week for an appointment). True to her sainted name, Maria welcomed this hair-color sinner with compassion and open arms. Then she went to work. I felt a little like one of those Grey's Anatomy patients that excites the residents with an especially freaky medical condition. All of the other colorists in the salon came by at one point or another to gaze scientifically at my hideous tresses and hear the details of the rescue operation at hand - clearly I was a special case. Everybody was really nice though and more importantly I left the salon with beautifully swirled-caf au lait hair that makes my complexion light up. After what I did - I don't deserve such good hair! So hair color sinners -- or anybody with a seriously bad dye job. Come to the blessed, miracle-worker Maria - for me that name will certainly never be the same...
A year ago, I got a job, no longer needed to look professional and finally decided I was going to go blond. I had always wanted to, blonds seem to have more fun, and I was a deep dark brunette. I felt that spending the extra money to go somewhere fancy was worth it for this drastic change.
I somehow found this place, made an appointment with Mark and had a great experience. They really did a nice job -- turning my locks golden. I also got a cut, which I'm not good at rating since I have curly hair and cannot tell a good cut from a bad cut.
Unfortunately, the place is really pricey. And, I felt that after the first time I came they sort of pawned me off on their assistants rather than doing me themselves. Maybe I didn't tip enough?
Otherwise, this is a very nice salon I stopped coming because I found another place cheaper, but when I could afford this place they were great.
[NOTE: I'm poor, so if you have the money I think coming here is worth it.]
I went Peter when my hair was ruined 3x and the bottom of my hair was a different color than my roots. he worked magic and put a pretty glaze and I was normal. I am on my way for trip #2-and I highly recommend.

FINALLY! The search for the perfect shade of highlights and the perfect cut are over! (And you know how demoralizing it can be to pay hundreds of dollars just to walk out of a Salon with orange hair.)
The maestro? The magic-maker? Mark at Christopher-Stanley Salon. Put him in your address book and treasure it.
I came to Mark bedraggled, after 2 years of chemical processes had reduced my naturally straight hair to a frizzy rat's nest, and inept highlighting technique had created a dayglo blonde, chunky-stripey effect that would look right at home in a trailer park. What I liked to call "nuclear reactor blonde." That's just not a good sign. But hallelujah, in came Mark to save me! He brought me back from nuclear to human, and actually made me look like I might have been born with this color. And I can't believe how long I can go between appointments without ever having noticable roots.
Not to mention that this is probably the best hairCUT I've had in 10 years. Mark got the ultra-precise, '60s mod blunt bang look exactly right, putting my prior hairdresser to shame. I've been getting compliments on it ever since. Thank you, Mark!

STANLEY IS MAGIC WITH THE SCISSORS & HIGHLIGHT SOLUTION!!
Not only is time spent with Stanley a total joy - but he does the best job with cuts and color! In fact, the two years I lived in NYC some of my closest friends didn't even know that I got my hair highlighted (talk about magic!). And Stanley's cuts are awesome - impeccable, fresh cuts that are always perfect (never had a bad or mediocre one!).
PLUS, Stanley is just one of the nicest people. My only regret is that I'm now 3000 miles away!
