Small parks are always a nice place to sit down and enjoy your Java or just to take relax from all the walking you do around the city. They got benches here and I love the fact that this place, somehow it's really peaceful and quiet despite being surrounded by loads of businesses. Oh yeah, and you got the convenience of having the Christopher Station just cross the street.

For a teeney-weeney space, Christopher Park has a lot of charm.
There are about a half a dozen benches, and very little walking space in between, but I can't seem to get enough of this place. CP is home to the Gay Liberation Monuments, and serves as a quiet refuge from the bustling surrounding gayborhood.
There's always pretty [and entertaining] eye candy to look at in CP, everyone from the oblivious tourist who wandered in to take a load off to the queer connoisseur. Come here, pose with the statues, and experience a piece of queer history.Listed in: Have a GAY ol' time

If you blink coming out of the Christopher Street/Sheridan Square station, you may miss this little bucolic space, this park-let if you will. That would be a shame since it represents such a significant piece of history. It represents a key site of the Stonewall Rebellion and the birth of the gay liberation movement. Ironically, it is indeed a stone's throw from the legendary Stonewall Inn.
What exists now are a couple of runs of benches, a nice place to relax and eat a bagel or a gelato. You will notice sculptor George Segal's art piece of four people cast in bronze and painted in white, a standing gay couple and a seated lesbian couple. It's an arresting sight and a photo opportunity for many an ignorant tourist who take advantage of posing inappropriately with the statues.
The park is a nice place just to take in the local atmosphere and read the local paper. You will see a lot of the local denizens, often colorfully clothed, coming in and out of the central area. It is something of an oasis in the middle of a heavily urban neighborhood that may get you to sensory overload quicker than you think. So set a spell, won't ya?Listed in: Green Acres Ain't the Place to…

"Excuse Me Sir..yes, YOU..you know you're in the Village in the Park where the devil worshipers are." "Take Care, Touch Someone" "Let's go Yankees" All of things said by...well, not by the..uhm...papier mache statues?
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good. And small, and creepy. But it's there and provides a nice, albeit quick and tacky, refuge. I'd prefer walking to USP or WSP, though; something must be inherently inferior in the Park not having "Square" in the name. -

Such a fun place to sit, rest, and watch people :-) There are ALWAYS interesting types to watch here! It's centrally located and a really nice place to meet people before heading to wherever you're going.

You know all those Lou Reed songs involving trannies, junkies, and hookers? I imagine he wrote most of them while sitting here.
