What can I say that hasn't already been said?:
I feel as if this place is a hidden gem. Sure, it does get good crowds of people and it's right next to one of the busier roads in Boston, so it's not THAT hidden. But it certainly doesn't get the attention and hype that Boston Common, the Public Gardens, and Charles River greenways do.
It's the perfect place to bring a bagged lunch, grab a spot with your significant other, and chill out with great views of the harbor and excellent people watching.
Not the "make your own picnic" type of person? No worries. With very close proximity to Faneuil Hall and the North End, lots of places to grab a sandwich or canoli and bring it back to the park to enjoy.
Perfect place.
No words needed.
Just keep looking east and you will forget you're in the city.
This is one of the newer parks in the city. At least, I don't recall it being this relaxing and placid back in teenage years when they highway was roaring thru Atlantic Ave. I think this was part of the Big Dig project.
Very romantic place so it seems. I just need to find a date to prove it or otherwise!
Okokokok, I admit it. I'd like to get married here. This place is beautiful at every hour of the day.
Le sigh.
Can I live here? Forever?
Pinnacle of my cheesetastic romantic career:
Earlier this week, sat at sunset, black coffee in hand, just after a rainstorm, staring at a rainbow.....
I'm sorry for everyone who just vomited.
Seriously, grab your cameras, your picnic blankets, your honeys, or just your dear ones, and spend a few moments here. It's worth it.
Put this place on your Boston Bucket List.
Warm weekend days are the ideal times to get in your:
make-out
ocean gazing
squealing kid
rambunctious dog
bared skin
quota.
While not big enough for kite flying or frisbee less you clock someone in the noggin, there's a little play area for the youngsters and usually a patch of grass if you don't mind being in close proximity to amorous couples.
Station yourself safe distance from the fountain where the wind will carry some spray but not too close that your bum will be soaked from the muddy grass. Fantastic place to remember how amazing it feels to be in the sun with your shoes off.
That's right, 4 stars for Yay! I'm a fan. Last time I was here there was a 50ish guy in disturbingly short-shorts and a too tight t-shirt. He was listening to the Red Sox game on headphones and loudly giving updates every 30 seconds or so. "Yook just doubled! Oh man! He's in there!" It may have been my imagination, but it seemed like there were quite a few people hovering just far enough away from this guy to avoid contact but not so far that they couldn't catch the play-by-play.
I enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine, people watching and of course stayed within earshot of the game updates. Thankfully, the guy was close enough o the playground that my kids could play and I could keep an eye on them without missing the calls.
I was reminded that I haven't reviewed this gem yet from the best lunch spots in Boston thread

Located between North End and Faneuil Hall (I discovered this when I continued walking past Quincy Market toward the sea! You'd be surprised as to how many tourist don't know about this little place), a great park to take your Volle Nolle sandwich and Boston Beanstock coffee to enjoy while watching the waters relax your mind.
I've also been here many times to sit on the benches to read and study. There's also wi-fi service around, but I don't know if it's free.
P.S. Christopher C. did NOT discover America for all of the world. It's like me walking to your house and claimed new land because I never seen it before.
One of my favorites areas of Boston to walk around in. Also a great place to have lunch outside during work hours (or whenever, really).
In one word: LOVERLY.
I like it! That's all that matters. Its a great relaxing point after visiting the busy north end. Walk over with your box of mike's pastries and find a spot to plunk down and enjoy.
Due to the proximity of all of the tourist hot spots (i.e., quincy market, aquarium etc) there are a lot of tourists, but that wouldnt stop me from enjoying my visit.
I did end up in the nearby fountain one night after a networking booze cruise, but it was awesome. I recomend playing in it.
My advice: There is no better way than to go tipsy with a friend.
Swing in the playground (at night). Watch the city spark in the water ripples. Best for the calm down after a North End feast.
People watching, flowers, plenty of seating...
Just the place to enjoy a coffee, cannoli and good conversation.
I like to go here to pet other people's dogs or just relax from the daily grind.
Go, you won't be sorry.
I went here for (ahts) yesterday. The review of the Arts Festival is for another time (much smaller than I anticipated, but nice). Naturally, I walked through the park just to get a feel for it.
I made my way over to the waterfront, which had a lovely view and some lines for boat shuttles, I think. I could stare at the water forever. But I decided to continue on.
When I stumbled into it, the rather small rose garden kept me occupied for at least 30 minutes. Every species of rose had a distinctly different smell, and they're all in bloom right now. What an amazing half hour. :-)
Great summer fun! The water play areas are great for kids and adults.
Wow...wish we had a park like that over here. Not only is it by the water, but it is close to everything. The pier/wharf, North, F. Hall, lots of places to eat and walk around. I was here when it was warm and sunny. Did I mention they have WiFi even?! I guess you can work here too.
I'll do lunch here next time.
It's when I look at pictures like the ones of the waterfront that I REALLY start to miss Boston. Yeah, most of the time the weather is so inhumane you can barely stand to walk by this area, but really the view is so gorgeous and the surrounding area is so well maintained, it is one of the prettiest spots on Boston. For a great date with a friend or lover, hike up to North End, grab a cannoli from Mike's or Modern's, have it wrapped to go and share with your loved one here on one of the many benches facing the ocean.
i like watching planes take off in the distance.
i like when the drunk lady arrives with her pet ferret jammed down her blouse and then lets it out on a leash to play with the dogs.
i like the coexistence of drunk bums and yuppie families.
i like how they renovated this park shortly after it was already renovated.
i like the fact that a community honors a man who sparked the genocide of native people, and brought siphylus to europe, by creating a park with his namesake and fitted with a disproportioned statue.
I am not responsible enough to have a dog of my own, so I am the creepy girl standing on the outskirts of the unofficial doggy park side of the park hoping that someone's dog will come over to say hi and I can pat it. It usually works. The dogs love me, sometimes the owners aren't super weirded out and give me the scoop on the dogs, like their names.
This is such a beautiful little park that I never realized even existed until this past weekend! I would love to wander here with a small picnic, or some pastries from Mike's as Dan recommends. Or just laze around in the sun and enjoy the waterfront.
Feckin' gorgeous...winter or summer...bring a crush that doesn't crush on you back...they won't be able to resist kissing you here. Kay?
Awesome waterfront park. Even if it is small, it's big enough to enjoy lunching, gazing at the water and taking in the sea air, or cuddling with your loved one. Plus, it's a short walk to Fanueil Hall and the North End. By far my favorite place in Boston.
I was acting in my friend's short short (movie.. whatwereyouthinking) when I first walked by this place. blah blah romantical blah. Why is everyone's review about hooking up? Okay.. so the sunset is ridiculous and so captivating that you can't help but think that it's a love letter from the heavens. But c'mon, you're too busy and too much of a commitment-phobe to entertain a relationship with a deity. And so what if in the winter the clammiest hands seem endearing and the coldest of hearts melt when you're standing on the grounds. Let's not even talk about spring. Forgettaboutit. Oh fudge. Let's make out.
absolutely brilliant!
small park, by the water, many food options, close to Tia's, lots of seating, and best of all at night the lighted archways are gorgeous. just perfect.
Right by the water, lots of grass and tons of cuteypie puppies! Who could ask for more? Ok, it lacks a bit of the charm of PO Square nearby, but the nice sea breeze makes up for it somewhat. There's also some funky/comfy lounge chairs around...if you can find an open one. And a playground...joy to my inner 5-year old!
This is one of my favorite places in Boston. On as many warm weekends as possible, I like to bring a blanket and a good book and just lay out and relax for hours. During the work week, I sometimes bring lunch and a few friends. It's a great place to people-watch and dog-watch, and still be near the city and the harbor. I witnessed a wedding ceremony here once, as well as a few outdoor festivals. The park can get crowded on a really nice day, but it's still very lovely and beautiful. Just thinking about it makes me eager for all this damn snow to melt... it's going to be a long winter.
Having lunch here is a great way to break up the work day. There a many benches. Even in Boston's humid heat, the wind and water make it really make it comfortable. A great place to people watch, read and relax.
My favorite place in the area to have lunch. Super relaxing to walk through or sit and chill out. There are lots of benches to sit and eat your lunch, people watch, or listen to the harbor at. Also the Harbor Walk goes right through here! http://www.bostonharbo.../ If you're looking for something with more solitude hop over to Long Wharf right next to the park!
When living in the 'Ville, it is quite easy to forget, in spite of the fact that not 3/4 mile from your front steps lies the vast ocean, stretching towards infinity (or at least jolly ol' repressive ol' england). Chris Columbus (He was about 16,500 years late in discovering America) Park helps to remind one that yes, Boston is a port city, and yes, the ocean does exist, despite best efforts to hide it away.
I live in the North End and truly love this park. There are fireworks here on holidays but it is fun on non-holidays as well. I occasionally go here on my lunch breaks just to relax. I had a picnic with friends here today actually and it was SO much fun. What an underused park. It is close enough to Faneuil Hall that it makes you wonder why tourists don't come here to eat their overpriced lunch. I am not going to advertise it though!
Boston's most romantic park is beautiful any time of year. This little spot by the water is much more intimate than the nearby Esplanade and Boston Common. Kids playing by the fountain. Bees buzzing around the flowers. Holding hands with that special someone.
I love this park because you can bask in the sun while enjoying a view of the ocean, which is always a mood lifter for me personally. One day last summer, there was a string trio playing there--more parks should come with this feature! Although it can get pretty crowded on weekends, it's worth grabbing a sandwich or salad in the North End and heading over for some people watching. It also looks like it would be a lot of fun on a winter's night after some snowfall...
What a great renewal project the city undertook when they did this park! You can relax on a warm day and watch the boats before heading into the North End for some pastry or an Italian dinner. They have live music in the summer too.
Not sure why I enjoy this little park so much, but it's quite beautiful and has a great view. It's pretty easy to find/hard to miss. Check it out!
Nice park - wish they would not lets dogs bathe in the fountain. Kind of gross.
Such a nice place to sit and relax. The rose garden is small but gorgeous; the fountain is just as nice. This is the perfect place to eat the stuff you bought from nearby Quincy Market.
