Christie's is your traditional uptown sports bar.  A number of big screen televisions, as well as numerous wall-mounts.

I've been there more times than I can count over the years, but not that much in the last two or three.

The crowds come and go over the years, but, in general, it is still the guys that are attracted to the sports vibe that roll into this place.

The place attracts a steady group of regulars, and in my opinion, has never been a place that has been known for checking out that prospective hottie.

Christie's is a good place for a quite game of pool with your friend's. It's not very crowded and there is always a pool table open.

The bartenders are nice, and happy prices are good.

I would start a night here, but wouldn't end it here. Mainly because I need crazy at the end of the night - and Christie's ain't crazy.

Christie's is in major need of an overhaul...the food, the chairs, the tables, the T.V's, pretty much everything.  It is a seedy sports bar that is past its prime.  It may still rake in the bucks, but probably b/c The MAT and Frankie's are too busy to get in and this is the only other option.

I give it two stars b/c the service is usually alright and there is a lack of sports bars in this town.  However, it is usually so smoky it is difficult making out the plays on the T.V.'s.  Christie's is in major need of renovations to become relevant again.

OK, well since the other Meridith just reviewed Christie's, I may as well throw my two cents in.

Back in 2004, when my beloved Red Sox were in the playoffs, I rushed to Christie's every day after work to watch the game because it's only right around the corner from my office, and they DO have that beautiful gigantic projection screen. I watched almost every game of that ALCS vs the Yankees here, and I watched every single game of the World Series here.  After awhile, you just don't mess with luck, you know?

Anyway, now that those good times are over, I will most likely never return to Christie's.  Their menu is mediocre at best.  If I'm spending several hours in a bar watching a game, I need decent food to soak up all the beeer I'll be drinking, and there are plenty of places with better offerings.

I do miss that projection screen, though.

i had the unfortunate and dubious "privilege" of working in dallas last summer, and this was the best place i could find. a crappy, over air-conditioned sports bar always packed with xenophobic regulars playing poker and pool. the food is shockingly greasy and fattening, you can't get decent beer to save your life (think bud, miller, coors) and the people are, well, texan.

being first and foremost a finn and, at the time, a student at berkeley, i was basically a godless atheist communist pinko gayboy in their eyes, and as such deserving of the "cold shoulder" treatment. many a happy evening was spent there reading the newspaper by myself, deflecting dirty looks from the regulars.

on the plus side, i learned to play poker there, resulting in a mild addiction with the game, and culminating in a costly trip to vegas where i was well and truly schooled. but that's another story.

moral of this tale: avoid texas, avoid christie's sports bar.

It's an ok bar. It's not too big or anything. I do agree with Niko that the food is greasy, but when you get the drunk munchies you don't seems to care what you eat. I actually forgot on what nite i went but it was pretty damn slow. I liked that they had pool tables not only quarter operated but normal ones where you can just play with out having to challege who ever had the table before you. When i had gone there it was the 1st time I got wierded out at a bar by a drunkard that was there, but no worries they sent him home.

Hey, I went here during a Dallas Mavericks playoff game. The place was full of hot chicks. They served buckets of beer. I did have a problem with the smoke. I'm not sure what'd it be like on a slow night. I'm thinking it wouldn't be so fun. Anyhow, I enjoyed it when I was there.
