Slices only limited by your imagination. Crust is simple making the toppings the star of this show, so if plain is your style probably not your kind of place. Worth a stop on the way to the game.

I'd forgotten how AMAZING this pizza truly is. Oh, my! I stopped in last week as I drive through Va. and had two slices for an early dinner. The crust is ideal--crisp, tasty, not too yeasty. The toppings are so fresh and the selection is great. Cville is lucky to have this place.

Had the fresh tomato, basil and mozzarella. My favorite. Consistently good.

Pretty overrated as far as Charlottesville Pizza goes. It has a great location so it's consistently busy and gets a lot of buzz, but it's not even the best Pizza by the Slice place on the mall (Vita Nova).
Still it's not bad, $3 a slice and there's a good choice of toppings.
Probably should be 3 stars but I'm docking one because of how overrated everyone else makes it!
Also wish they were open later, why can;t I get a slice at 10pm on a Thursday downtown? -

Best pizza in Charlottesville - maybe the east coast. It's certainly the best pizza I have ever laid my taste buds upon. There are at least four locations in Charlottesville but the one on the downtown mall has the best atmosphere. If you are like me and can only eat one slice it is a very cheap meal @ $3.75 a slice for the gourmet specialty slices.
My absolute favorite is the spinach/artichoke/feta/mushroom. Drool! -
Review from Teri M.
Good freakin' pizza. I wish they had this place in my state! I can't remember having a better slice of anything, topping or no topping. Best margherita pizza too! It was even better than the avacado, feta thing I got to go with it!
Yum yum yum yum I really don't have anything to say but you have to stop here. -

A solid East Coast style pizza slice. Crust is thin and crisp, maybe a little on the too crisp/over-baked side. While they are pretty brilliant making you wait in line alongside their beautifully displayed specialty pizzas, I would not overlook the less glamorous plain cheese slice. I think this thin crisp type of crust is perfectly suited for just a thin spread of a zesty sauce and a nice sprinkling of melty mozzarella cheese. Not to mention that this cheese slice is affordably priced at $2 (or a whole pie for $10). A pretty decent option for pizza in town. -

Has anyone here noticed that the only 4 and 5 star ratings are from very out of town people? Can you spell paid for ratings? LOL. I stand by my previous rating. It isn't that great. You can do better for pizza in Charlottesville. Not on the mall to be sure, but you can do better!

Now Christian's is at an advantage because it's the first East Coast pizza I ate upon my return from Colorado. Nothing against all other pizza, but East Coast pizza is where it's at, and this place is only in Virginia!
I had a huge slice of avocado pie and something with artichokes, mushrooms and all kinds of other deliciousness. My gf and I didn't speak to each other the entire five minutes it took for us to eat our food. It was delicious. The lightly sweetened tea with lemon was awesome, too. -

What the hell is everyone raving about? I was told I had to try this place.... place was unsanitary (flies all around the pizza), pizzas looked like they'd been sitting out, and it just wasn't very good! Plain sauce, crispy crust (b/c they reheat everything), and toppings were okay. I don't get it.

Mushroom pizza was awful, they just put raw mushrooms on top of an already cooked slice of pizza and added mozzarella on top. Lazy. Is there no good pizza in Charlottesville?

Review from Jim D.
Located smack-dab in the middle of the downtown mall, Christian's was a nice find to satisfy that ever pestering hunger craving I perpetually possess. The pies are displayed quite invitingly at eye level -- well for a hobbit. Great marketing scheme nonetheless.
I found these beautiful slices to be all right. Nothing spectacular but decent. We ordered the buffalo chicken, spinach and sausage, sausage and pepperoni and sun-dried tomato and artichoke slices. They were good but the buffalo chicken didn't exactly taste like we'd expect. It was just...different. The crust, however, was absolutely tasty! Thin and really crisp. That was perhaps the highlight.
The slices were a bit pricy -- between $3 up to $4 a slice. They were average sized slices, but I am comparing them to a NYC slice where they're monstrous in size for the same price.
This is not the best pizza around I imagine. But when you're constantly hungry like me and needing to satisfy that craving, this place will do. -

Christian's is good. Their pizza has flavor and it's also located smack dab in the middle of the downtown mall, which makes it all that more appealing. [I prefer the Mellow Mushroom, though.]
One of the kind of annoying things is that they don't take credit, so bring cash. [As someone who rarely carries cash this can be a hindrance.]
And here is the other reason I like Christian's: http://www.flickr.com/....
It's pretty. -

A UVA classic and definitely one of my fav's. I'm SO glad they have the new location on the Corner (although, I totally found it worth it to make the trek downtown for a good slice :). I do NOT do the pizza thing... or the burgers thing, or anything else on the Corner, for that matter, besides here and Basil. This is good pizza. It's sooo far from authentic, it's crazy, but they found a niche and they are workin it!
The main reason I like this place is because you get flavor and nutrition without feeling weighed down because your pizza is more crust than anything else. They have a nice thin crust and come with a wide variety of toppings from fresh basil and fresh mozzarella to pesto, artichokes, and even avocado. This place is great and will always bring back great memories :)
Clean, great location, great prices, and fast, even when there's long lines
Docking one star because sometimes you have to add some extra umph with garlic or hot peppers, but it's never gross and tomato-ey sweet like most pizza joints and never ever greasy.Listed in: VA Stuff I Miss Since I Moved

This location is located on the downtown mall and caters more to families than to college students (like the one on the corner). This Christian's is more homey on the inside with plenty more seating and a fireplace-type atmosphere.
I've only had the calzones at this location and I thought they were pretty ok. Crispy, fresh, and piping hot straight out of the oven. -

Man... I spend four years at UVA and never tried this place. Boy! I sure did miss out on some good pizza. I tried mushroom pizza, pizza with ground beef and bacon, and pizza with basil, mozzerella, and tomatoes. All were great. Thin, crispy crust and fresh ingredients.
I was really sad to see how Downtown has changed. A lot of restaurants have moved out. I do not know how I feel about the more expensive restaurants taking the places of the mom and pop places. I am glad that Christians is still around. -

I know some think we should be more stingy with 5-star reviews, but Christian's holds a special place in my heart. It's the cheap eats joint that got me through late night rehearsals in high school and exam cramming in college.
It's right in the hustle and bustle of the downtown pedestrian mall, yet the price is right. They sell pizza by the slice (yes, the kind where you pick out your favorite and they stick it in the oven for you) and the toppings are phenomenal. I love the avocado, mozzarella, and tomato, although the mushroom, sausage, and chicken is a must for the omnivores. -

One of my favorite things about our drive to the beach is stopping at Christian's pizza in c-ville. It's cheap, fresh and delicious. The only thing that would make them better is for them to relocate to Blacksburg, Va.

This was an unexpectedly pleasant find. We arrived at 11:30 am on a Sunday. The place was deserted, and they must have had about 12-14 different types of pizzas out, ready for you to point at and ask for slice. They get put into what tastes like a wood-fired oven, and in a few minutes you're done.
My kids are locked into pepperoni, but my spouse and I split a sausage/mushroom slice. All of them were fine, and it's a bonus that on the condiment side, in addition to shakers of parmesan cheese and peppers, there was oregano.
Other have probably noted that this is thin and crispy crust, so if that's not your bag, move along. I'm ambi-crustal, so it was cool with me.
This is a place I'd like to return to in order to try their different varieties.
BTW, this is a good place to people watch, because you can sit on the stools in the window, eating your slice, and watching the people on the pedestrian mall.
Cleanliness note. The men's room was passable. My daughter reports the women's room was ultra skanky. -

Christian's is a solid 4-star pizzeria, not five. I've met people who've gone nearly breathless trying to convince me that Christian's is the best thing ever -- and I mean, it's good pizza, but it's not manna from heaven, folks. Calm yourselves.
It's pretty hard to find an open seat during prime dining hours, the line can grow to fairly long lengths, and it's a cash-only kinda place... so get ready, or prepare to make a detour at the dumpling place next door instead. -

Here's the deal: Christian's is delicious. It just is.
Are Luigi and Giuseppe in the back of Christian's exercising their birthright to deftly toss and twirl a pie to perfection and artfully smear delicious goodness atop its supple surface? Not so much. If you're a pizza purist, Christian's counter of heretical pies may elicit a scoff and a raised eyebrow or two. I must admit, I have a tendency to snob it up when it comes to food that ought to be respected as traditional in nature. But I'm growing, folks, and Christian's had me at avocado. -

Yeah, I feel ya. But avoid the sausage calzone... 2 words: gristle fest.
But, if i crave a slice, i head to Casella's. -
Review from Chelsea M.

Stellar location, clean as a whistle and swift with their delish pies, Christian's really exceeded my expecations for a pizza place with such proximity to a college campus.
Loved the variety of pies you can select from by the slice (I'd say there were at least 10 options warm and ready to go- clearly I got a meaty one and a veggie) and they fire up a 1/2 and 1/2 large pizza rather quickly, too. Yum and yes. -
Review from Eddie L.
Manhattan, KS
A well lit and flashy joint in the heart of the Main St, Christian's Pizza is known for its imaginative pizza toppings, large portions, and hearty calzones.
Then I stepped inside to see for myself.
The hype did not let me down at all. Sure, the pizza slices were large and terribly greasy but they were tasty and that's what matters most to me. To get the full experience, I sampled their Tomato Basil, Pepperoni, and their Steak Calzone. Nothing was overwhelming, the red meat wasn't too gristly, and the service was standard (i.e. efficient and polite enough) for the industry.
Say what you will about other unique Pizza establishments along the east coast and throughout the so-called Pizza Meccas of America. Christians has Charlottesville's gourmet pizza market covered nicely. -

So many pretty pizzas! Colorful and yummy. Choices are abundant and it usually takes me a couple minutes of me pressing my face close to the glass to figure out what I want. They are always patient as I decide. I love the fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, and the avocado one is quite delish too.
It may seem chaotic at times with the long lines but I've never waited more than 10 minutes to get through the line. They opened a Christian's on the corner which has the same pizza but somehow just isn't as good as the one on the downtown mall. The downtown mall displays the pizzas oh-so-prettily which always makes me want to eat a whole pizza. But fortunately or unfortunately, one slice is always big enough to fill me up. -

I like Christian's for a number of reasons. Location: It's right on the Downtown Mall, which is my favorite place in Charlottesville. Décor: It looks really nice, lots of light wood and flyers advertising cool stuff coming to town. Beer: They offer a decent selection of bottled beer (domestic and imported) at pretty low prices. Service: The service is adequate; the lines can get long but they move quickly. Layout: A patio out front, and an enclosed foyer creates little nooks to the left and right which are semi-private. You can always find a place to sit.
In fact, if there's one thing about this place that's not quite up to par, it's the pizza. Sure, the slices are big and cheap, but they're not great. I think a lot of people are enamored of the gourmet specialty slices, but a first-rate pizza place needs to make a plain slice that's first-rate, and Christian's doesn't deliver. I like thin-crust pizza, but Christian's takes it too far: The slices are super thin, without enough sauce or cheese. There's nothing to sink your teeth into. I don't DISLIKE the pizza; it's fine - just nothing special. -

Doesn't hold a cnadle to Escape from New York on Haight back home... But altogether, a decent slice shop...
Big selection of pies to choose from, creative toppings (avocado!), cheap price, quick-moving lines, great place for dog-lovin folks to gnosh with pooch in tow (on the patio). Place seems clean and kept in good repair.
They do seem to have a tendency to over-crisp your slice, though. Other than that, it's all gravy. -

I've lived in a lot of places in the US and abroad. While nothing compares to the authentic Italian pizzas I had during my two and a half month stay in northern Italy, Christian's is very good. Much better than the delivery chains (Papa John's, Pizza Hut and Domino's) with a better variety. My favorite is the avocado, feta and tomato, but I also like their others, like chicken parmesan.
Generous, fresh toppings, crispy crusts, sauce that enhances rather than overwhelms the flavors of the toppings, fair prices and great taste. Christian's is my pizza parlor of choice in Charlottesville, VA. We usually frequent the Hollymead location, which doesn't have outdoor seating, but outdoor seating is available at the Downtown Mall location. -

Huge choice of generous slices of pizza. The two we had were very good, the people are friendly and it's very good value, $7.50 for two slices nearly the size of small round pizzas.

The pizza is just ok. The crust is very hard and the toppings are usually undercooked. This is definately not what I would call good pizza. Fabio's does a better pie, as does Brick Oven.

One of the best pizza places ever, but everyone in the area already knows that. Their pizza by the slice is quick, interesting, and perfect for a college student budget. I fondly remember many long treks from Sweet Briar to get pizza and wander around. I miss those days and I miss that pizza.

This was the only place my dad wanted to go every time he came to pick me up or drop me off at school. Awesome variety of pizzas by the slice - and it's cheap, to boot. Lines move quickly, and seating is rarely a problem. Best pizza in Charlottesville, hands-down.

Christian's has lovely sweet tea and an astounding variety of pizzas. The slices are huge, and the toppings include everything under the sun. I can't remember if they have both deep dish and thin crust, but I do highly recommend the thin crust ones.

Best pizza I have ever had. The downtown location tends to have more of a selection, which is great for me as I like the avocado, tomato and feta (less commonly found on the Corner). But when I say "like", I really mean obsessed. Their mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil is a close second. They rebake it right in front of you so it's always hot and crisp.

Ravioli with pesto and spicy chicken on a crispy thin crust with a hint of corn meal hit the spot at Christian's on the mall last night. Four stars for quick friendly service, clever toppings, and great prices. Five stars if the toppings had been fresher. I'll definitely go back!
