I have been meaning to come here for almost a year, and  I finally made it the other day.  The place is super cute on the inside!  It's quite tastefully decorated, especially compared with some other Thai restaurants I've dined at.  And the service is very attentive.

Unfortunately, I wasn't particularly hungry, so I only ordered an appetizer and a thai iced tea.  The thai iced tea was perfection! For my appetizer I had the fresh rolls, which i wasn't super impressed with (they weren't very tightly rolled and I didn't really like the tofu in them).  I'll definitely be back because I think if I ordered an actual meal I'd be more satisfied.  My dining companion ordered some beef curry dish which he was pleased with.

I will definitely be coming back to sample their entrees when I have a more hearty appetite!  I am also intrigued by their sushi (which is offered occasionally).

Nothing to write home about here---very Americanized Thai food.  Thick, sweet, syrupy currys, congealed coconut soups, but in a part of town with almost no take-out, Chow Thai gets the job done.  In the land of the flavorless, the guy with too much soy sauce is king?

Still, Chow Thai's service is great, and the food certainly isn't bad.  Their Thai iced tea is ok, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going back.

I live close to this place and have wanted to try it for a while. My friend and I went here last Thursday. Menu looked really good and it took us a while to choose what we wanted. It's small but very cute and everything looked clean. Our waitress didn't speak great English but she listened and did a good job of bringing what we wanted.

We both ordered the Tom Yum Soup and shared the vegetable tempura appetizer. The soup was SO GOOD. Very fresh and tasty. The tempura appetizer was good and the ginger-soy sauce was sweet and salty and went so well with the tempura. We also split the spicy bamboo shoot entree and I asked to have some other ingredients put into it and it was done perfectly. We got a side order of steamed whit rice. Everything was delicious.

To top off this nice visit, the owner of the restaurant stopped us and asked us how our meals were and if we lived in the area. It's nice to see management has interest other than when people complain.

Will definitely return and will try to understand our waitress better next time....

Chow Thai was mediocre; not as good as I expected from all the reviews.  The Pad Thai which is usually a good indicator was bland but not bad.  The appetizers were bland as well.  Maybe other items are better?  If you're in the area then it's not a bad quick dinner but I probably will not be making a return visit.

The lunch special here is a great deal. The prices are reasonable $7-$8 for a large portion and for an extra $1.50 you can add on a soup and four appetizer sampler. So I chose the Drunken Noodle which was $7.25 with chicken, then added the sampler to add up to a tasty $10 filling lunch.

I heard the drunken noodles here were great through yelp. I thought they were very good, spicy, generous amount of chicken, could of been a tad bit moister with the sauce though. The appetizers they gave were a chicken wing, crab wonton, spring roll, and some other dumpling. They were all good. I especially like the crab wonton. I would get a full size of those next time.

Service was friendly with a sweet vibe. Every time the girl came around she had s big smile on her face ready to serve. When it was time for my bill, it arrived with a small notebook of guest comments. I read some of them, they were all positive, especially raving about the pad Thai. I added a comment myself thanking them for a tasty lunch and warm hospitality.

So far I've only had the Pad Thai shrimp, which was very good (and this is a dish I fall back on wherever I go), and the tofu spring roll (which ends up being a bit mealy with the tofu... if they did shrimp or just veggie, it would be fantastic with the peanut sauce they provide).  A bit pricey for simple pad thai and a roll, as this came to be 17 dollars.

Chow Thai is such a great neighborhood place.

Dan, the owner, is the nicest guy ever. He always remembers you when you come in, makes conversation, and genuinely cares about how you are doing.

My favorite foods at Chow Thai include their lunch specials, Thai rolls, Shumai, Chicken with Cashew Nut/Ginger and Scallion, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and Sticky Rice with Mango!

I have had their BBQ Chicken in the past and sometimes it is good/sometimes not so good.

They now have sushi on select nights. I can't wait to go in and try it.

Prices are extremely reasonable, great location, pleasant environment, and excellent service. It can't get much better!

Dan the Man!  Chow Thai is consistently good quality and great service. If you don't know Dan, you will after a couple of visits. He gets to know all of the customers that come through and makes sure that you are happy with the quality of food and the service. Try it out! You will not be disappointed.

It may be some sort of ridonculously stereotypical thing to say, but Thai people have GOT to be the nicest people in the world.

Seriously.

Walk into or call Chow Thai Cafe, or call for delivery, and you will not be disappointed. Yep. Nicest people EVER.

They're so nice, you'd forgive them for making bad food. But you don't have to! The food is excellent. I've been there several times, tried many different dishes, and have yet to be disappointed. Prices are reasonable, too.

Highly recommended.

This is a charming little place, with great service and even better food.  My favorite Thai place in Boston. The prices are reasonable and I always have left overs for lunch the next day.  I love the Drunken Noodles and the Pad Thai Shrimp is to die for.

Love Chow Thai.

This is a very cute little Thai restaurant run by a very sweet couple. You really feel welcome here, like you've just walked into their dining room as their guest. The service is always friendly, and the place has a cozy atmosphere, filled with plenty of light, comfortable seating, and even books to browse while you wait.

I have been here for lunch several times, and I always opt for one of the lunch specials, served with appetizers, soup, and a generously sized entree all for under $10. You can't beat that!

I miss Chow Thai so much that I'll make a special trip a few times a year to 'chow down' in Charlestown.  The owners are incredibly nice, the service is always very quick, genuine and kind, and the take out I've always had excellent luck with unless it's prime time (Friday and Saturday night) when things get a little backed up.

This is the type of place that the staff and owners know you by name; the food is excellent, fresh, and deliciously prepared.  The dining room is simple, clean, and comfortable as well.  I really don't have a bad thing to say about Chow Thai, if you live in Charlestown and haven't eatten here; get your ass over there NOW! You won't regret it!

Very extensive menu and giant portions. I rarely stray from my usual Thai selections of veggie pad thai and veggie tom yum soup, and have to say the pad thai was pretty decent. The crab rangoon, not so much, and the tom yum could have used a lot less mushrooms. (Really, I felt like I was eating mushroom soup). Although, the broth was yummy.

There was enough pad thai for two more meals, so incredible value for your money.  They do deliver, but it seems on a very random basis (like the day of a really rainy storm, the delivery guy was out).

I lived in Charlestown for 2 years without trying this place out.  I have an aversion to Asian restaurants I am not familiar with (seeking treatment).  I basically need somebody I know to vouch for it.  I never got it, but based upon a strong craving one night, I gave this place a try for take out.

Since then, I do it at least once a week.  I live close, so never dine in, can't vouch for it (looks cute though), but the food I get from take out is always spot on.  Most of times I get take out from other restaurants, an left over container will loiter in the fridge for weeks.  If I have any left overs from Chow Thai, it won't survive the next nights dinner.

This is the kind of place where after your first experience, you're like, "wtf, those were the NICEST people EVAH" and find yourself going back over and over again.  As mentioned, the owners are very interested in talking to their customers, which I find endearing and welcoming in such a crass town.  I love the little sign-book if you eat in.

Pick up times are a bit long, but well worth it.  I only order 1 thing and 1 thing only from this place because it is the best freakin piece of fried meat this side of the mason dixon, the Crispy Duck Choo-Chee. [drool]

Chow Thai is adorable in a "I could just be eating Thai at a friend's house" sort of way. I loved that there were to two bookcases full of travel books, even though I have no idea what purpose they serve.

The food is decent, and they serve Thai wine and beer. The portions are only slightly generous, which is great if you go out to eat thinking, "it'd be great to go to a chill, local restaurant that won't wreak havoc on all my dietary resolutions," but isn't great if you go out to eat thinking, "man, I want a boatful of Thai food. Seriously, like a mountain of it."

I've only tried a very limited amount of their menu, but so far I'm a fan. The fact that it's only a short walk for me also helps. Should the mood for chicken spring rolls or tofu triangles (they're isosceles triangles...if that matters) hit, I can easily indulge. I'll be dining here often and will add any recommendations.

This is my local Thai restaurant and as such is pretty good food-wise when you are craving thai and don't feel like venturing "off island".  However, the take out service needs some work.  Double the time they tell you on the phone if you plan on getting take out Friday through Sunday night.  The drunken noodle rules and I also love the Chicken Penang!

This my favorite Thai place in the city. My favorite is the spicy fried rice, which I get all the time. The lunch special  is great. You get a soup and small plate of appetizer's to go with your main dish. It has good prices and is in a good location.

I love this spot.  Great service, Excellent food, and delivery that takes 15 - 20 minutes tops always.  Thai Food in the New England area seems to be more consistent than chinese(still skimming through yelp to find a good spot!) and Chow Thai comes through.

I went here the other day with some coworkers and was very pleasantly surprised. The Pad Kee Mao (my Thai benchmark dish) was excellent. I usually prefer it with less veggies (I absolutely love the broad rice noodles and my theory is the more of them the better) theirs were varied and fresh enough that they put a wonderful twist on the dish. All of the dishes are all offered with your choice of various types of meat (duck and some other unexpected ones in there), tofu, and veggies, and this versatility is a really a cool idea.
Their beer selection is bottled and adequate, while the wine selection is really solid for a place like this. While they have the Thai restaurant standard of a Riesling offering they also offer a Gewrztraminer by the glass. Any Thai place that recognizes this wine's perfect pairing with spicy Thai has clearly put thought into the wine selections.
The service was fine and the owner stopped over to chat with us and see how we were doing. One of the better Thai places in Boston for the money.

This is a great place to order take out or eat in. I order from here about twice a month and the food is always good. As someone else stated, take out can be slow but it is always worth the wait.

I would recommend the Drunk Noodle, the pine apple rice, and the Dumplings
