Review from Thrill K.
Seattle, WA
Good food,SMALL place. The tables are laid out here weird. They have one table right in front of the counter where you place orders and pay.
I've only done take out here. The sidewalk outside is on a hill. So I don't stay long. I can't risk the Thrillmobile rolling down the sidewalk while I'm eating inside.
The woman at the desk is always happy to take my order. And it comes in good time too. I like General Tso Chicken,Singapore Noodles. and Prawn Fried Rice. They give a lot. Last me 2 1/2 days.
One time, meaning once. I got their Spicy Chicken Terriyaki. Holy Smokes! I got lit up!!
It's for that reason that I haven't tried the Spicy Thai Basil yet. I want to soo bad. I've yet to try the Bento Box. everyone says it's the thing to get.
I've got enough boxes in my cart,I don't know if I'd have room for a Bento Box too.
When it comes time to pay. The woman presents the bill with her finger pointing to the Tip line of the bill. She does it every time. She sees how I look when I roll in. How does she expect a tip from me. I wish I knew where their trash cans were,. They gotta have lotsa good stuff thrown out in them....Dream Time........
Anyways,if you want GOOD and cheap Asian food around Olive Way,then stop on in. Tell 'em Thrill sent you. They might think your homeless too. Better not.
This place is Thrill Killer Approved. Check It OOOUUUTTT!!! -

Got tempura inside and salmon teriyaki to go.
I was the only one eating inside and when I ordered the tempura, it came out in 2 minutes. Hello speedy! I like!
It had onion, carrot, shrimp, something c shaped (couldn't figure out what it was) and broccoli. Everything was crunchy except for the broccoli. I think they left the broccoli in the batter too long because the batter was still batter-like in the florets and pretty bad tasting.
When I got home I opened the box and found two thin pieces of salmon in there. I tried the teriyaki sauce by itself and it's really salty for me so I didn't put much on. Unfortunately the salmon was left on the grill too long and it was hard.
Maybe I just picked the bad numbers?
It'll be a while before I go back there again. -

The portions are huge and very cheap, but the taste is OK.
We order the spring rolls, Singapore noodles and Thai chicken basil. -

I've been here a couple of times in the past few weeks and have to say I have enjoyed each visit. Everything I've had has been good and the service has been very kind and attentive. The prices are also very affordable.
Highly recommend, I know I'll be back! -

I can play this on the piano.
I remember trying this place out when it opened and thinking it was pretty good. That was a while back, so sweetheart and I checked it out for dinner last night. This place is zero frills. No matter how you try to dress it up, it's still a hole in the wall. It is not sexy or romantic. There was a point where we were the only guests and this was Valentine's Day. So there you have it. There was quite a bit of take out traffic though and I can see why. If you live in the neighborhood, it's quick, easy and not overpriced.
I had the spicy teriyaki bento box while Valentine had the tempura shrimp bento box. It was a lot of food and about half came home in boxes, but everything was tried. Sour face spit her mini egg-roll into her napkin, but I thought it was fine. The rest of the grub was very good without being mind-blowing in the least. Squarely worth the money.
There's no beer or wine. I'll let you live with that a moment.
There are chopsticks, lots of them, in a cup on your table. My curious date wondered what's to keep people from sticking them up their nose and putting them back in the cup? I used a fork. Also, I believe they will let you sit there all night, if it's slow. If you want your check, you'll have to scoot back your chair, stand up, and walk all seven steps to the front counter and ask for it.
All-in-all, a pleasurable experience without making me all humpy-humpy. Thanks, Chopsticks.Listed in: Swish Alps, These hang on my wall.

Very reasonably priced and always tasty. I enjoy the pineapple curry fried rice and the potstickers a lot. They make the to-go-orders quickly and if you eat in you can watch people out the window. Otherwise the ambiance is nothing special but just fine.
I am a repeat customer here, but if you eat multiple nights in a row whatever oil they use can get a little heavy on the stomach. I would also advise trying a bento box they give you lots of nice options so you can try a bit of everything.
Friendly Service as well. -

The A Number one thing to order here is the bento box because you get so many different items and they are all delicious! I have tried a few other items on the menu like the almond chicken which was very good and the chicken yakisoba which was just OK but they gave me enough food for three meals so that made it very worthwhile.
The service has been good each time I've been in and the prices are right about what you would expect for this type of place. Located right across from the Olive Way Starbucks, this is a great spot for lunch, dinner and take-out.Listed in: Capitol Hill

I'm keeping this review short and sweet.
For a little over $10, I got an enormous amount of delicious food in the bento box. In addition to the main entree (chicken katsu and white rice), I received the following: green salad, several pieces of tempura (including a huge piece of shrimp, onions, carrot, broccoli, and sweet potato), 4 pieces of California roll, 4 tiny eggrolls, and miso soup.
This is seriously enough food for 3 meals (or 2 if you're a big eater). -

So I've been eating at Chopsticks for well over a year now. Almost two I'd say. (Since whenever they opened.)
It appears that they're under new ownership because the woman who used to work there all the time hasn't been there the last two times I've gone. It might be family run though..?
The food is still great. For $10 you get a drink, you get miso soup, and you get WAY more than one single person can eat. I ended up with a lot of leftovers today. Nothing is gourmet but it's fresh, cheap, and quick. How can it get better than that?
Today I had the chicken katsu. Normally I go for the chicken or salmon teriyaki. I think I will get the katsu from now on. It was SO good! I also got spring rolls instead of California rolls. They were the size of a burrito! Such huge portions. I had a great meal. I know I'll be back!Listed in: A Foreign Affair - Seattle's…, Best Happy Hour in Seattle

No. Just no.
Who cares that the decor was somewhat nice or that the service was somewhat scatter shot when the food was just plain old not good.
The bento box came with two burned mini egg rolls that inexplicably contained undercooked pork, or what looked like undercooked pork, we're just going to assume that's what it was because I wasn't about to let anyone I care about try to figure out the contents by putting it back in their mouth.
The Singapore Noodles would have been lovely if they contained more than celery, carrots, and some freezer burnt chicken, because they actually used some tasty spices.
Perhaps I'll give it another shot since it's right down the street but I may go with someone who doesn't mean that much to me. -
Review from Nick H.
When I don't feel like cooking Chopsticks hits the spot. I've mostly tried their various teriyaki dishes, which are pretty standard as far as I can tell. They include giant heaps of white steamed rice and a small salad (which isn't too exciting--I usually make my own at home). I'll sometimes get a side of potstickers to go with my order. I think they're probably the usual frozen variety one might find at Costco, but I like them.
They've got pad thai, several curries, other noodle and rice dishes, appetizers, soup and salads. I've tried their pad thai and it was tasty, but I thought the noodles were a little overcooked.
I've never eaten in their dining room, but it is clean, well lit and nicely decorated. I believe it was remodeled in the past year. If you like take-out and eating at home, then grab a copy of their menu (they keep some in a rack outside their door, even when closed) and call in your order ahead of time.
It's not the best pan-asian cuisine I've had, but I will keep returning if for no other reason that it's fast, cheap and convenient. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're in the neighborhood it's your best bet for teriyaki.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Food is cheap here but you get what you pay for. I've never been a big fan of places that attempt to serve to serve a lot of different types of cuisine. It's hard enough to be good at serving ONE type of cuisine. Having sweet and sour chicken, pad thai, and sushi all on the same menu is just a recipe for disaster.
I think the bento they serve in this restaurant is the only thing that's sort of passable. The teriyaki it comes with is mediocre. There's also some vegetable tempura that's pretty good. The sushi looks like it came from a grocery store. But if you take the low price into account, it's not that bad a deal. -

I'm very wary of teriyaki. I don't like the dark meat of chicken and I've had waaay too many experiences with nasty pieces of flab disguised with the name "chicken". Ew, I just got all squeamish typing that.
Anyway, my point is you won't find that here! The teriyaki chicken is wonderful! I get the lunch specials which is 1/2 teriyaki chicken, 1/2 something else (I get general tso's), rice, and a salad for $7-ish. I'LL TAKE IT.
The bad: Not good with water refills and the salad is overdressed iceberg lettuce. Who uses iceberg anymore?! Do not want.

NOT vegetarian friendly. Seriously, if you look at their menu and find something, anything without meat in it, I'd be shocked. Aside from the tea.. although that's probably rimmed with a goat anus or something.
Aside from that, it looks like a pleasant enough place. -

This location has turned over a few times... The old Jo Jo's Teriyaki is no longer after three different owners. (Side Note - The first Jo Jo's was the best.... the others left a lot to be desired)
The location is now Chopsticks. The new owners have done a great job of remodeling. The place has a definite "fast food asian" feel (and you can easily pick-up-and-go), but they also have great seating. The new space is larger and really modern. I like the artwork and the colored chopsticks on each table.
Chopsticks (like the old Jo Jo's) is your typical "pick-up-and-go" type of place, but they have a larger menu with lots of variety. When they say "pan asian" they really mean it - Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai.
There really isn't anything on the menu that you can't get elsewhere - teriyaki, udon, bento boxes, stir fry, sweet and sour, phad thai - but they do everything surprisingly well. And the portions are HUGE! You really get what you pay for.
My recommendations - Singapore Noodles (great curry flavor), Pineapple Curry Fried Rice (few places do this well), Bangkok Stir Fry (love the coconut milk).
Things to avoid - The Mango Curry (made with those curry cubes you can get in grocery stores... too thick and fattening) and the Shumai.
People that I ate with said that the sushi was surprisingly fresh and good. I am always suspicious, though, of places that serve sushi but they really aren't a sushi restaurant.
Chopsticks is off to a great start. I will definitely be back! -

Decided to do my dinner takeout from Chopsticks Pan Asian Teriyaki. And so I ordered the tofu teriyaki with brown rice and raw salad vegetable spring rolls. The springs rolls are excellent with a hint of mint. The bean curd teriyaki needs work like adding scallions. Styrofoam in sauce is pretty ugh... but the food is quick and the portions are sizable. Courteous staff.

I went with something a little different and got a curry/pineapple chicken friend rice. I was taking Gordon Ramsey's approach and trying the weirdest thing on the menu. It was gross, big surprise. BF had the chicken teriyaki . "completely plain, previously frozen grilled chicken breast with about 2 TBS of Kikoman teriyaki sauce poured over it. No passion!"Sloooooow service (maybe more than 1 person should be working at a time), bland/pre cooked food.
Yummy Teriyaki in Redmond is the shiznit and nothing here comes even close. Sorry crapsticks. -

It's a nice simple and fairly quick pan asian restaraunt.
The food is quite cheap and good for the price. It's just simplistic asian food. Don't expect any authenticity or a high level of quality and you'll be very pleased.
The service is nice, but a tad on the slow side. -

I am one of those people who needs to know what is in a dish before I want to try it. I know, I know....it's just how I am. Luckily I have a friend who knows me really well and is able to pick out dishes that I will like and I completely trust his judgment.
Walking home tonight we decided to stop in here for dinner. My friend told me what I should get Chicken Yakisoba . The dish was very good, great flavor, plenty of chicken. I do wish there were more veggies because I love me some veggies but I still really liked it.
The lady working was super friendly and even brought us a little bowl of sugar for our hot tea after seeing we weren't so keen on sweet & low. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable.
Will I go back? Yes
Will I get the dish again? Yep
Should you go here? Yes! -

I was craving cheap Japanese last night, and we decided to forgo Aoki in favor of the new thing that replaced Jojo's on Olive.
I spent $8 and couldn't finish the meal. So much food. I got the chicken katsu bento box. It came with shrimp and vegetable tempura, crispy rolls with a sweet chili sauce, rice, miso soup, lettuce salad, and california rolls.
I wasn't so hot on the katsu itself (it was a bit overcooked), but everything else was pretty good. (Well, except I always avoid that type of salad. I don't care for the dressing.) The california rolls were super fresh and tasty.
Next time, I think I'll try the unagi and avacado sushi. I'll definitely be back.
Not being able to enjoy a light lager during dinner was a bit pout-making, but the owner(?) said they're still trying to get licensed for that stuff. -

Nice bright cheerful little place around the corner from Half-priced books.
The fried rice is fine, the chicken bento box is a favorite dish so far. the chicken teriyaki is moist, not over-cooked, but the tempura is a bit tasteless. The salad noodle bowl (I think that's the name of the dish) is really good as well.
I would stay away from the Singapore noodles, no egg, no mixed-meats, and too moist; Tai Tung makes a much better attempt.
This is a cute place for eating on the cheap. Closed Sunday and no beer. -

The bf and I go here when we don't want to stay in for dinner, but we still want to feel at home. If you remember the crappy teriyaki joint that was in this space a couple years ago, don't be dissuaded! Chopsticks is 10 times better:
*It's quick - dine in or take-out
*The lovely woman who is always there (which reminds me, I should learn her name) gives us a warm welcome every time.
*The decor is bright and clean.
*The atmosphere is relaxed.
*I almost always get the teriyaki chicken salad noodle bowl, which is fresh, healthy, flavorful, and filling, for 6.99.
*The bf usually gets one of the bento boxes, which are huge, so I can always steal some of his savory goodies to round out my meal.
*It's a great place to eat alone with a newspaper or book, watching people stroll down Olive.
*If you want your dish extra spicy, beware, for we were once in tears, hacking and red in the face, after requesting 4 stars. Not too many places in this hood will deliver that special kind of food-induced pain.
Give it a try next time you need a quick meal fix! -

Live near by this place. The decor and name seriously detract from this place. It is an Asian food place and I say this because you can literally get Thai, Chinese, Japanese and other. The food is good, plentiful and affordable. If you are in the mood for Thai/Chinese or Japanese but aren't looking to pay too much or have fancy sushi this is the place to go! Quick and great service! I ordered the thai basil and my boyfriend ordered stir fry broccoli. Both good, hot, quick and tasty. The servings were so large that I had to take half home. It was only $17 for the two of us. Totally worth it! Try this place out!

This lunchtime, I had a hankering for teriyaki. I normally go to Teryiaki and Wok, but decided to try somewhere new ... Chopsticks has been getting good reviews, so why not?
The place is cute and clean in a no-frills way. The server was delightful. I decided to pig out on the Bento Box since people said it was huge. They were right - there's a lot of food.
On the whole it looked good, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to give Chopsticks 3 stars. This is because the food was just "ok", but the value for money was good.
The egg rolls had a slightly funny taste to them, the tempura was a little bland and the teriyaki chicken was a little dry and consisted of both dark and white meat, some of it like "scraps". The sauce was only "ok" too. The california rolls were tasty and so was the miso soup. I left feeling my teriyaki craving was only sort-of satisfied.
It's sad (since I really did want to love this place), but I think the chicken teriyaki at Teriyaki and Wok is of a higher quality, cooked better and with a better sauce. Now I'm on a quest to try *all* teriyaki joints on Capitol Hill! -

When I'm tired after a long day at work, Chopsticks is my delicious go-to.
The owners are so sweet and friendly, and always greet you with a smile.
Their bento boxes are seriously bomb - and can last me two sometimes three meals. Chicken katsu - delicious! Fresh rolls - yum! Yakisoba noodles - tasty!
One of the best take out places on the hill. -

I love this place. Sometimes you have to wait awhile. Such friendly staff, they get to know you really fast, and what you typically order. And the number 5 spicy, really is a number 5.
The food is so good, I take everyone there. Chicken Yakisoba is great. Pretty much anything you want a certain way they will do it. -

I didn't expect much the first time I went to Chopsticks, but, man, was I surprised, and pleasantly so. They serve quite good Japanese food with excellent friendly service. The prices are also very reasonable. In short, I love this place, come here regularly and have never been disappointed by either the food or service. I highly recommend that you try it.

I thought this place was great!! I live not to far from it and often have walked by... finally I tried it and was very happy with the results! I ordered 2 chicken teriyaki bento boxes (one each for me and my boyfriend) and we were AMAZED at the amount of food for the price! It was easily 2-3 meals for me...
it included: salad, white rice, eggrolls, california rolls, miso soup, fried tempura and chicken teriyaki.
The food was all very delicious and well cooked, in my opinion. I'd definitely recommend this place to all my friends! -

Nothing spectacular, but great for a quick, enjoyable, inexpensive bite to eat for those of us in the immediate neighborhood.
I tried this place tonight and was fairly impressed with the food, for what the place is. I ordered the Stir Fry Broccoli which had plenty of fresh crisp vegetables(mostly broccoli, duh) as well as more than enough tender chicken breast(on request)
They will offer brown rice as an option beginning in December. -

One of my favorite Asian restaurants both for dining in and taking out! The food is fresh, flavorful and plentiful! I usually get the bento box because it's good enough for two meals.
I absolutely LOVE the hostess/server/cashier (and my, guess owner) who is so sweet and always has a such a warm smile! From what I can tell, it's just a mom & pop place with only 2 people on the staff. So when it gets busy, cut them some slack if your order isn't done in 2 minutes! -

What happened? This place was always great. Went there last night for the first time in a couple of months, it must be under new management. I got my standard chicken teryaki to go. When I got it home (just four blocks away) the chicken was soggy as if it had been sitting in a steam drawer all day. The salad was also on the limp side.
P.S. The restaurant was completely empty when I arrived at around 7, I'd never seen it that way ever. I should have recognized the omen. -

Perfectly mediocre fast food. A little heavy on the oil for my liking but I wasn't too surprised.
Good prices, good portions, and a good menu that features the popular dishes of different varieties of fried rice, sushi, and noodle dishes.
I'd never go out of my way to eat here, but if you're hungry and in the area and looking for some quick fixin asian food its pretty good. -

OMG. OMG. OMG. You guys. YOU GUYS, I've just found my new home.
A couple of friends and I dropped in for a late lunch. We interrupted the staff lunch break, but the service was no less friendly, prompt, or attentive. My companions ordered General Tso's chicken and Hong Kong Style Noodles, and I had the Tokyo Street Style Yakisoba. All dishes were excellent- the veggies were fresh and crisp, nothing was overly greasy, even the General Tso's, and it's definitely good old fashioned home-style cooking in a way that reminds me of all those noisy, rowdy family reunion dinners of my youth. While eating, I seriously entertained the thought of going there for dinner every single night. This place will definitely have room in our regular rotation. -

I've been here twice.
The chicken teriyaki is just fine. The chicken was quality and tender, the sauce was good. The accompanying salads are the standard overdressed iceberg and shredded carrots -however mine was pretty sad looking last time (a little brown and wilted).
The bento box IS a lot of food for a little money, but I wouldn't order again: egg rolls were basically just fried dough with glow in the dark dipping sauce. The flavor of the egg rolls was a little strange to me. Miso soup had no tofu :(, and the tempura was soggy and too batters-ish. The california rolls were decent, though and the salad rolls were the size of futomaki (which is either good or bad, depending on the size of your mouth).
I'll go back if I need a chicken teriyaki fix, but I probably won't try much more on the menu. Also: I miss JoJo's, which used to be in the same place. -

Good teriyaki place. The beef teriyaki and rice were done to perfection, however the brown iceberg packaged lettuce was the best.
The atmosphere was quaint and the woman was nice enough.
I will stop back in sometime in the future.
