I came here with a huge group of friends for one of my friend's birthday. We were seated pretty quickly (even with the 30 adjustment in our reservation).
Parking wasnt too bad since it's in a plaza and the place wasnt that hard to miss since there was a light sign right near the street.
After they took our order, the service wasnt so great. They didnt really refill our waters except once, and we had to call them whenever we needed something. They did a really good job though of separating our bills without us asking, so that was nice.
The food was yummy. Everyone got a mixture of Korean and Japanese food. I personally got the Chocolate Sushi roll (I really wanted to try it) and the Pink Lady roll, all of which I thought was delish =]
P.S. Just a little note, the women and men's bathroom is separated by an incomplete wall (look up and you'll see the gap).. so people can hear each other.. haha
Other than that, I wouldnt mind going again
OOPS - We don't Honor Our Advertised Specials From Our Website ! SUCKA !! - FELLOW Yelpers - READ OUR WARNING - RUN AWAY !!
We used to actually like this place - despite the switch over to Tofu House, the consistently lousy service (even at the sushi bar) and the uneven rolls - but tonight the management has hit an all time low.
After having eatten there not too long ago for lunch with a friend and seeing the dinner special at the sushi bar ($17.75/all you can order and eat) 7 days/week and after seeing the ongoing reviews on YELP and checking the website tonight (noting the recent message that they are closed on Thanksgiving) - we drove there (not close - we live in Menlo Park) - only to see that they taped a sign on their cheesy standup ad in the entryway - saying the Dinner Special (AYCE) is now only Monday - Thursday ! SH*T. The manager at the front desk confirmed what the damn sign said and then said - "...we have it mentioned on our web site". Knowing he was wrong and full of sh*t I told him he was WRONG and the chucklehead looked it up right in front of me. Once he saw it was NOT THERE and CLEARLY SAID 7 DAYS/WEEK he refused to honor what was on their website. I told him I thought that was deceptive and that he won't have our business as a result - and he basically told us to screw off.
My family's $80+ dollars worth of business was basically sent off into the night. By the way - the sushi bar was EMPTY and only a few tables were occupied at 7:45PM on a Saturday night. INTERESTING APPROACH to business.
WE WON'T BE BACK and I SUGGEST THEY MAKE THEIR WEB SITE REFLECT THEIR ACTUAL POLICIES IN THE RESTAURANT. OTHERWISE THEY ARE bringing in customers under FALSE PRETENSES. SHAME ON THE OWNERS. Liars.
RUN AWAY - DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE - MANY BETTER PLACES THAT WANT OUR BUSINESS AND TREAT US BETTER. No, we won't be back chocolate sushi. You are basically liars and deceptors. Never more.
Sunnyvale isn't really your culinary melting pot and with a name like Chocolate Sushi which also happens to serve Korean food, my expectations were as high as my expectations that George W. Bush would not fuck things up.
I ended up here last night anyway with a bunch of coworkers and I was definitely impressed. The place has an all you can eat sushi for $20 but you have to sit at the bar for that so we skipped it. We did order the Chef's choice of sushi and sashimi for $70. You really can't f up sushi much unless you serve old fish, they served fresh sashimi and the portions weren't bad. 4 people could easily share the Chef's choice. Being the glutton that I am I ordered the teriyaki beef for insurance (just in case I'm still hungry after the sushi and sashimi). I was really pleased with this dish, they didn't mention that it's served on top of this amazing pasta. I slurped that pasta up like it's the last pasta on earth.
I'll definitely come back when I'm in these parts again.
This place is very cute and modern. I like this place because I can have my sushi while my hubby can have the Korean BBQ. I always order the same rolls, which are the Dragon and Godzilla Rolls =)...
This is a cute place for a little party or a dinner date. Give it a try and you will love it.
minus one star because they did not refill my water/drink. had to ask them...
We had no wait for lunch on a Monday and the waitress kept coming to take our order every minute or so, then when we were ready she was no where to be found. The food was really good. We had a spider roll, very good, and a hot tofu pot which was really good, but it was tilted and we had to straightened it before putting the egg in it. Flavors really good, but REALLY HOT! The Bento box was good. I'd go back again and order less food. Maybe one roll per person! Very good taste!
from the name i assumed this place would be some sort of sushi/korean/dessert fushion. it's rather just typical sushi and korean food all tucked into modern decor. i even think this place would do better if it opened as a lounge after hours since the dim lighted atmosphere would do wonders for photographs.
menu offered the usual dishes you can find at just about any other sushi or korean tofu house. nothing out of the ordinary in terms or taste or selection. maybe it was due to my mind already being set on some sort of crazy dessert concoction.
In search of something interesting to do on my 24th Birthday, I rounded up some girlfriends for, what I thought was going to be, some culinary exploration in the area of sushi-dom. What I discovered was a Vegas-like venue in the midst of Sunnyvale/Santa Clara.
Now not to insult Vegas, and not to talk this place up.. but the inside was nice. So I guess don't judge it by it's mediocre outside presence? I was pretty impressed by the layout of the place, the nice furniture, and the gorgeous bathrooms. The staff was accomodating and aimed to please. There were multiple flat screens throughout, and when I asked them to put ESPN on, they obliged without blinking.
Now with all that being said about the aesthetics, what is there to say about the food? Not much unfortunately. It all LOOKED nice.. flaming sushi? Cool. Dragon rolls laid out like an actual Dragon? Even better. NO CHOCOLATE SUSHI AT A RESTAURANT CALLED CHOCOLATE SUSHI??? BOOOOOOOOO. That deserves ONE star. I don't understand why they would name their place that?! This was two years ago, so I'm hoping that has been fixed, but from the reviews I don't see if it has :(
So I opted for some deep fried green tea ice cream with a plum/passion sauce slivered on top. It looked nice (again).
*sigh*
at least we took some good facebook pictures.
Not really that impressed with their sushi rolls. The sushi rice was rather dry and the sauce was way too overwhelming. A lot of their special rolls tasted similar. The only thing good about this restaurant is the competitive price. All you can eat sushi for $14.74 (Lunch) and $17.75 (Dinner) are pretty good deals.
The cooked dishes are a bit better than their sushi. The spicy tofu soup and the Korean BBQ were nice.
They really do serve chocolate sushi but I would recommend against it.
Just okay.
Nothing exciting or unique.
It wasn't horrible or anything. I just wouldn't be back when there's many more choices for sushi all around! The only thing it has is the Korean stuff as well.
The deluxe type rolls looked exactly the same as the ones from Cherry Sushi (I wonder if they used the same pics or are owned by the same people) except they didn't taste nearly as good!
Deluxe Spider Roll or whatever they're called ... the deep fried crab was dry and you could barely taste the crab :(
The sashimi in the bento box was decent (as in not Ariyaki level).
Been here a few times with my friends since it is right next to the yoga studio that we frequent.
It's a nice looking restaurant, and we never have trouble getting a table here. They have a good collection of rolls, as most Korean sushi places do. The prices are pretty reasonable, though the service is just meh.
I prefer some other restaurants in the Sunnyvale/Santa Clara area (like Sushi-O-Sushi), but this place hits the spot if you want some sushi and don't wanna go to far.
It's apparent even from the name of the restaurant -- if you're not sure what kind of Asian food you want to eat, Chocolate Sushi slash Tofu House is a good choice. Not sure how the chocolate part fits in, but I guess that's another story.
I ate here with my dad because I wanted tofu soup and he wanted sushi. Great compromise. The only catch is that I don't think they do either one very well. If I had to choose one, I'd say stick to the Japanese cuisine when you order.
I got the dumpling tofu soup, and it was blah. I usually can't tell the difference between most tofu soup restaurants because I haven't tasted glaring missteps, but this one had a really weird and sour aftertaste with every spoonful. The only thing I liked about it is that it had rice cake balls (dduk) in the soup, which was a nice addition.
My dad got a dinner plate, where you can pick two items. He picked sushi and sashimi, and the portions he got were tiny! I guess you are usually supposed to pick ton katsu or one of the other choices, then add either sushi OR sashimi. So don't get both... you get a bit jipped.
So the food wasn't amazing, but hey... points for the convenience factor?
The place itself is great, with modern decor, lots of seating, and good service. Note: they do have low-sodium soy sauce in the back, you just have to ask for it!
So I came here with the family for a birthday dinner. We had a party of about 14 or so. We were seated on the bar side which was secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Our waitress came by after everyone was seated but neglected to realize that we had no menu's so of course it took a little bit longer. My bf and I ordered the short ribs, the lion king roll, and the pork soft tofu in mild. Our order actually came our before everyone else's. We had the soft tofu first, eh, it was okay. The bf claims, I've had better, this is mediocre. The short ribs were okay also, nothing to brag about. I was especially awaiting the lion king roll. I love baked rolls. And this one did not blow me away like I thought it would. Just a tad spicy but it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. It was just what it was. Lol. Service was okay for a Monday night. I'd come back for a birthday dinner, but not a dinner with just the bf and I.
Had a friend's birthday here and it's a nice place for a big party with a special area in the back.
From the outside you wouldn't think it'd look so nice, and the signs make it seem like it's a dessert place.
Had a bento box with chicken teriyaki and tempura. And since this is a Korean sushi place, you get all of the korean side dishes, a big plus.
Teriyaki was pretty good, and it sits on top of a bed of fettuccine in an olive oil parsley sauce that was AMAZING. I don't know if they added spices like cinnamon or if there was a mixing with the teriyaki sauce from the checkin teriyaki, but there's a sweet aftertaste that keeps you wanting more.
All in all the food is decent and it's a nice atmosphere.
I really don't know why my family likes going here so much, just to order the same dishes every single week. I'm more of an adventurer and like to Yelp and try out new restaurants. We came here with a party of 10 and ordered a bit too much food (ie: 3 pancakes). After 2 of the pancakes came out, along with the rest of our food, we asked the server if we could cancel our last order. They told us that it was already being made (the second pancake came out 10 minutes after the first one). We waited another 10 minutes before the last pancake came out... wth man?! Talk about screwing you on your money. The service was horrible. We had to attempt to flag down our server numerous times in order to get our tea refilled. When we asked for a refill on banchan, it came years later... and of course, we were served without a smile (great!). We ordered doubles of certain rolls and specifically asked them to separate the doubles of each on 2 different plates so both sides of the table would be able to sample the rolls. They nodded (when someone nods, I assume that they understand and acknowledges it). When it was served to us, they did the complete opposite of what I asked. One side had doubles of half the rolls and the other side had doubles of the other half. Oh, and jumping back to the pancakes, it just tasted undercooked. To my knowledge, the pancake's supposed to come out crispy on the outside and cooked on the inside (key word: COOKED). Instead, it tasted like runny pancake batter. (Go to Choi's for pancake.) The 2 stonepots we ordered came up to a burning crisp. Usually my mom (and others) enjoys eating the crispy rice that sticks to the stone pot, but I don't think it's very healthy to eat tar.
To try to be a bit positive, the cooked rolls were pretty decent (3 stars), but the sashimi was 1 star (it tastes worse than sashimi you would buy at a Japanese super market).
This food overall was just mediocre (2 stars), service (1 star). Hence, average fo 1.5 stars (but I like rounding down... so 1 star it is). The service used to be way better back in the day, at least the servers tried to accomodate your needs and had service with a smile.

I believe this has become the new large (birthday) party dinner hot spot. The wait staff is very… Read more »
I really like this place's all you can eat menu, but the sushi isn't the best I've ever had and for some reason they always seem short on servers here and service is slow.
The all you can eat is pretty awesome though...besides being allowed to order a # of yummy rolls, you can order side dishes like BBQ chicken, BBQ beer, Fried Gyoza, Agadashi Tofu, Edamame, etc. My fave roll is the Tempura Philly Roll....deep frying + cream cheese = heaven. The price is also great for AYCE - $15 during lunch and $18 for dinner.
if they can up the level of service, they would easily get another start from me.
This is a pleasant surprise I found in Sunnyvale, my old stomping ground. I went there tonight for some comfort Korean and simple sushi rolls.
-- decor: other than the concrete floor, (which I suspect makes it easier to transform this place into a "multi-purpose room"), the decor is simple and cool.
-- #2 tofu pot: the Medium is actually pretty spicy, it's your average good Korean tofu bowl, the extra side condiments are good as well, especially the larger sized Japchae. ($10)
-- Red Dragon roll -- tempura shrimp with eel on the outside, set of 8 rolls. ($7) pretty good.
Overall, the place is not too crowded, the booth seating is nice, and check out the ultra chic bathroom! Will come back again to try their $18 all-you-can-eat sushi to order! (15 for lunch)
This place has so much swagger.
Posh interior, first-class bathrooms, elegant furniture.. mmhm, just pump some bass and turn out the lights and you got yourself a setting for some asian r&b music video. Oh, there's this random cutesy Italian chef statue near the entrance that markets this Korean/sushi joint, but hey, diversity's always coo'.
OH RIGHT, food. Sorry, I was distracted by the dope sinks in their bathroom. My favorite is the agedashi tofu, OH YES (which is happens to be the name of one of their rolls, but in this case I'm using the phrase as an exclamation not an allusion). Speaking of the Oh Yes roll, my friends often rave about it, but I think it just tastes like.. deep-fried. I dig all the other rolls though, especially the dragon. The tofu hot pot is also yummy. Plenty of seafood (for the seafood pot), YAYY.
Btdubbz, $15 for all-you-can-eat lunch and $18 for all-you-can-eat dinner? Hell yeah.
Here is a Haiku dedicated to Chocolate Sushi and Tofu House:
The sushi was blah
The service was really bad
Won't be back again
This place's food and environment is okay, but the service can really improve. Our waitress wasn't rude or anything - she just seems like she needs more training... or just learn to remember stuff. I was here with a party of about 7 people, and everything took forever. Two of us ordered alcoholic drinks, which the waitress forgot about. After waiting for an extremely long time for our drinks, we reminded the waitress, then she brought out my dirty martini that she tried her best to make (no bartender working at the bar on a Friday night - big strike). She did offer to remake it if it wasn't good, but I figured having her remake it would take another half hour... then at the end, they forgot to put the drinks on our tab (sweet!).
Many Japanese restaurants put multiple sushi rolls on the same large plate, which would be cool if it was two people sitting across from each other. However, this place squeezed all of our rolls onto the same plate for a table with a lot of people so we all had to reach over each other for our food. Made no sense. Our waitress offered to separate it onto different plates but I think we were losing our patience already - I know I was.
I ordered the Titanic roll which was quite tasty. The chocolate sushi is just chocolate syrup over unagi... my friend ordered it out of curiosity and I had a taste. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't order it.
I feel guilty writing a bad review about these guys, because they're very, very nice.
I think if you eat meat, this place is probably very cool. The menu is huge and well laid out. The decor of the place was great and it's obviously very popular because it was packed.
However...
there are almost no vegetarian options. Most of the Tofu, which they have in their name, is combined with meat - Tofu and chicken, Tofu and Beef, Tofu and shrimp, beef and chicken...
The service is very slow, and the waitresses don't speak much english at all. This makes it hard to ask for items that aren't on the menu. In their defense, they're willing to make items that aren't on the menu.
The food is okay. I've had much better. I've also had worse. However, it's priced high and for okay food with bad service, I don't think it's a good value.
I recommend this place if you're a meat eater and you can sit at the bar - they have an all you can eat for $17 deal.
Vegetarians, stay away.
Oh, and there's no chocolate sushi. The dish for which the restaurant is named is Unagi with hershey's syrup drizzled on top. *disappointment*
Side note: my date thought the chocolate sushi was really tasty.
another korean run sushi joint. its very nice and modern inside.
the sushi rolls were nothing special, and i had a combination dinner, and it was pretty good. i like how they have a variety of options on the menu, especially for my dad who's not a big sushi eater. he ordered the soon doo boo (tofu stew) and thought it was decent. they also give a lot of side dishes which is great too.
they have an all you can eat sushi menu which is pretty rare these, but i saw that they charge extra for the nigiri, which isn't like other all you can eat places, so thats the only downer.
I went here for my bday as my friends had fairly good things to say about this place. It had nice decor and the servers were nice, but very inadequate.
The sushi was pretty good, not bad, but not special. The tofu pot (Korean portion) wasn't as hot and spicy as I had hoped. Godzilla rolls were good (my favorite type of roll). I also tried the chocolate sushi. It pretty much looks like 2 pieces of unagi (or something similar) covered in chocolate sauce for about $6. Interesting experience, I didn't like it, but my friends did. Buy it for your good experience or remorse
It was a friday night and they didn't have a bartender, which was really whack. So the waitress just did the drink herself, but said she'd redo it if it tasted nasty. We just stuck with it, not to be rude. But when we got our receipt, we werent charged for our drinks! Maybe they forgot or they knew it sucked ass lol.
The free drinks were fitting for such low quality. I guess I would not recommend the regular menu; maybe go for the buffet, which I didnt get to try
OVERALL
3 out of 5, pretty much just a standard sushi restaurant. A place you can compliment and also complain about, just overall average. If you're looking for a cool place to take someone on their birthday and what not, my advice would be to keep researching. I feel like this place could be hit or miss depending.
LUNCH BUFFET
Overall not bad for $15. I don't know any other sushi place with a $15 lunch buffet. I can't really complain because there are a lot of worse buffets for that price range
FOOD
You kind of get what you pay for. If you're a sushi snob, this is not the place for you, but if you want good value, their sushi lunch buffet is not all that bad. You can tell they don't get the high sushi grade fish, but at the same time they don't charge you for it (not sure about dinner prices though).
DECOR
To set the tone, I never been to a restaurant that does not have enough cups and plates. Overall the interior looks clean and modern, but the tables are wobbly.
SERVICE
Service seems fine and attentive. You just need to remember that you're at a Korean restaurant, and Koreans in general don't service American style (for example, they don't swing by to ask how you're doing, do you need a refill, etc. That's an American thing). If you need service, the best way is to make eye contact and wave them over or call out to them. If you didn't know that, I can imagine how some people would think the service was bad/slow.
I would probably come back, but only for lunch buffet and with average expectations.
Though I'm not a big fan of Korean food, this is just the second Korean restaurant I've been too :). Was here for our usual Friday Lunch with my colleagues who are mostly Koreans.
The first thing I noticed about this place is that its ambiance, it was like entering a nice dark & red den, which I liked a lot.
For my first glance at the menu I was like what to order, but the special rolls looked good & I'm a big fan of Sushi. So I ordered Godzilla roll which was made of avocado, & crab meat with some nice sauce, which was right on top. The food ordered by my friends looked nice & they seemed to be enjoying it too :)
I've been here a few times before but the last time I went here (about two weeks ago), I experienced one of the worst services ever. I had 7 other co-workers with me and we went here for lunch. It was about 12pm when we got there. We were seated promptly and our order was taken fairly quickly.
Our food took about 20 minutes to arrive and came it long spurts of duration. We were missing about three dishes and about 40 minutes had passed now. We reminded them about the rest of our food and they brought two of the missing dishes out after a few minutes. The tempura was still missing after an hour so I get upset and tell them that we no longer wanted it. By this time, a lot of my co-workers have already finished their meals.
We did not get our waters refilled at all. We received no attention from any of their waitstaff. The check took an extra 15 minutes to get to us and to make matters worse, there was an 18% gratuity charged to us.
We asked to speak to the manager of the restaurant and was told that the manager was not on site.
I get more upset than before and expressed to the waitress how angered I was by this entire situation. I told her that I don't think that we should pay for this meal considering how much time we have wasted at the restaurant and having to deal with missing orders and the lack of service. The waitress responds by saying that she will go up and talk to the manager to see what he thinks. Oh... But I thought that the manager was not on site? Right.
She comes back and offers me one $10 gift card as an apology from the restaurant. The problem with that is there are 8 of us total and well... we really would not want to ever go back to this restaurant ever again.
In the end, there was no real resolution. We still paid for the entire meal but managed to get the gratuity taken off of the bill. The entire time spent here was 90 minutes of our lunch time. Keep in mind that we did have to go back to work...
Honestly, the food isn't bad but the service was really awful and just ruined the entire experience for me. The past two times that I've been at this restaurant, the food has always taken a bit longer than it should but this most recent visit was the longest that I've had to endure.
I will never go back here ever again --ever.
I was a bit scared of this place as it offered a variety of foods and in a variety of ways to order them (Korean menu? Japanese menu? or Sushi buffet? Say what?)
Since I immediately learned that the people who ran this place were korean, I told myself theres no need to try the sushi here and to just order something off the korean menu. Boy Am I glad that I did that! The beef bbq was tender and yummy and the side dishes were decent - have had better but this was definitely not bad =)
The prices are fair and all in all this is a pretty good place to eat, especially with large parties who would like a variety of Asian cuisine choices~
I came here on a Monday night for dinner, around 8:15. We sat at the bar because that the only place you can do the All You Can Eat special, which is $17.99 (I think). The bar was pretty crowded, the rest of the restaurant was empty.
I wouldn't recommend getting the all you can eat. It is a limited menu of sushi and they offer a huge proportion of the fried or tempura sushi. I'm all about some fried, but too much of it sort of ruins the experience.
The sushi itself was good, not great, but quality enough that it would deserve a much higher rating. 3.5 or maybe even 4 stars. However, the problem was the service. We got there and were ignored for at least 10 minutes. When we ordered, it was very brisk, like they were in a huge hurry. If they were in a hurry, that may have been understandable, but they weren't. As I mentioned, the place was pretty empty. Plus, sitting at the bar, you can see all the waitresses, and it was clear that they mostly didn't have that much to do. One of them seemed to be bored and just standing around straightening the same dishes out over and over again.
As a bunch of yelpers have already said, the service ruins the meal. Maybe it's worth getting take-out, but definitely not worth eating in. Despite the fairly tasty food, I didn't feel like I wanted to ever come back whey I left.
Why are there are no chocolate sushi desserts? I get that they have a sushi with some chocolate sauce, but if you're going to name yourself chocolate sushi, you should have more in the way of chocolate. I'm just saying...
Ok, came here Saturday with my bf and it never fails that we have horrible service and no luck getting dranks. We only get a date night once a month cause of all the kids, so when we go out, we want to drink! So I get all excited and so does my honey when we see "long island ice tea" and "mojito". When the waitress comes to our table we ask for our drinks, and just our luck the bar is CLOSED for mixed drinks!!! WTF?!?!?!?!?! This place is REALLY lucky that we like the sushi so much, that is the only reason why we keep going back!

Being my SPONTANEOUS self like always, i thought what the heck let's yelp this place, read a few reviews and drive there to try it out since I always pass by this place while driving down el camino real!
From the past places I've reviewed, I have learned to not judge restaurant by its look on the outside for sure! This place looks average on the outside but once you enter the glass doors, you enter this modern and chic decor venue. Very impressive! The place is more spacious than it looks and every table was occupied! Music was modern/top billboard songs playing in the background. I felt kind of weird seeing little kids eating and running around while listening to Birthdayy sexxx... birthday sexxxxx!
Prices are a bit on the expensive side but they they marked down alot of their rolls and dishes down $1-2.. which of course makes everyone more likely though to order those discounted ones :) the rolls are very generous and GINORMOUS.. definitely worth the money i tell you. side of soup was also provided.
1. California Tempura Roll - the fried outing tasted so good.. ANYTHING fried makes everything taste so much better.. I usually don't order normal california rolls.. but this made a big difference with the fried outing.
2. Dragon Roll - the unagi wasn't as freshed as it can be.. but the sauce made the roll pretty good..
3. Bento Box with chicken teriyaki style - chicken was very moist and juicy with just the right amount of sauce.. i love sauce.
Total : Around $30
Next time, I will be trying out their korean tofu soups! I kept looking at other people's tables since they were all drinking their soups.. *drool*
I came here for lunch with 8 coworkers thinking it would be a pleasant Friday lunch. I also thought it would take about an hour. We got there right at noon and the meal took 90 minutes.
Company was great, food was decent, service was TERRIBLE. I repeat TERRIBLE.
The waiter forgot our several of our orders. Even after a reminder, they still forgot one of the orders. The wait staff never came back to check on us. Our waters were empty, but they never came by to have our waters refilled. The staff was running around like crazy and we could never get a hold of them. I finally went to the back to grab my own to-go box. They were definitely under-staffed.
On top of the crappy service, they charged us a 18% service fee.
At the end, we asked to speak to a manager, but one of the servers said the manager wasn't around. She spoke to the owner who offered $10 gift certificate (remember we were a group of 8). Nice gesture, but not enough. We later asked to speak to the owner, but the waiter said he was "busy." I guess he was too "busy" to care. I had really high hopes for this place, but this is a restaurant that is now part of my "banned" list.
I love it! The sushi was not only delicious, but it was also reasonably priced.
I had the Oh Yes roll. Ohhh yeeessss it was good! It was deep fried and had salmon and tuna in it. I love crunchy and it was the perfect crunch for me. My only complaint is that their wasabi was not that hot. I think i had to put a whole teaspoon of wasabi to get the spiciness just right for my taste. However, it didn't ruin my experience because the sushi itself was still good. I also had some of my friends spider roll which was delicious as well.
I also loved the fact that drinks here are cheap! About $6 for cocktails and patron shots for $7!! That is not bad at all my friends. I will definitely hit this place up for their lunch and dinner buffet. Same day. hahaha.
I can say that this has become one of my go-to sushi places =D
ps. I didn't see any sushi with chocolate on the menu...but they do have sushi that they pour 151 on and set on fire...i am very tempted to try it..maybe on my next visit!
Finally. Now i know why all my friends love this place. It's a combo of both japanese & korean, my two favs!
Everything on the menu sounded great, but i ended up ordering the combo tofu soup. It was piping HOT! love it!
i'll be back :)
I've been to Chocolate Sushi twice now and the experiences were nearly identical.
Both times the food was great. I've tried the Oh Yes roll, the Godzilla roll and the California tempura roll. So good, that I almost feel bad for the two star review.
Both times the service was terrible. The food was slow to come out to the table. One time we had to remind our server that we were still waiting for a few dishes and we still didn't get them all. Drinks weren't refilled, they were out of my beverage of choice.
Then once we hunted down the bill, they had added their own 18% gratuity.
Not cool.
They finally ended up taking the gratuity off after our complaint.
If you don't mind poor service you could try this place out for the good food. Be warned though - you'll basically have to do their jobs for them the entire time.
This place is ok. Their sushi was pretty good, but their service was definitely lacking. I came with a group of friends, but we ended up eating separately because if you decide to eat the "all you can eat" you would have to sit somewhere else, they would not let you and the rest of your party sit together if they aren't eating "all you can eat" as well. Although their price for "all you can eat" dropped, it still isn't that special. There's like 4 special rolls and a small list of sushi rolls you can choose from The rest were noodles, tempura, dumplings, and etc.
Also, it takes quite a LONG time for them to bring the food out. If you eat the "all you can eat" you're only allowed to order 2 things at a time, which takes even longer since you have to wait for your order to come out to order again. The service here was slow and it takes a while to get the attention of a waiter to help you with something.
Prices are reasonable though, but I don't know if I'd come here again.
Came here with a group of 10 and we ordered a good amount of food: 5 rolls, bulgogi, and 2 pitchers of beer. Service was honestly, SLOW. There was pretty much 1,maybe 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant so whenever we did see her, we tried to ask for everything we needed before she would disappear. The rolls we ordered were decent quality and the bulgogi was quite tasty. I mostly knock them for the service which was pretty much absent and charging us 18% gratuity was almost robbery but since the meal came out to only $13 each including tip, I wasn't too irked. If I were to come again, definitely coming with smaller group and probably during the week.

My Opinion/Story:
I've been at this place several times. I like it better when it was just a sushi place. The decor is still the same and some of the menu is still the same. The price is alot cheaper but it's not as posh as it used to be anymore. There are several Korean dishes and on certain days, they even have a sushi buffet.
Everytime I come here I feel like the owner is judging us. He walks around as if to tell his crew who to serve better or not. Several times, the service here is lacking. We often had to hunt down someone to refill our water and tea. We also had to wait a while for food. The food is pretty good and portions are ok. For the price we're paying, I'd say it's worth it.
Three and a half. Ate here once a long time ago. Unfortunately I don't remember what I ate, but it was good. Not super, but good. Prices are just okay. The service is really good. The manager came up to us to talk and ask how we liked our food.
I went here for my birthday just last night. I read some reviews on yelp and my friend also said that the place was pretty cheap. Plus they had all you can eat so I came to give it a try.
Sadly I guess they didn't have all you can eat on a saturday night so we ordered rolls. We had two lion king rolls with salmon and with scallop. It was so delicious. Probably my favorite dish there. The korean food wasn't too bad either. Had the oh yes roll and it was scrumptious. The salmon was given in fat pieces as well.
And overall, the rolls WERE cheap. Cheaper than most places I've been to before. Highly recommend this place. GET THE LION KING ROLL!
I came here today with a coworker to have lunch and was soooo satisfied with the food. I never heard of this place until today and I will add them onto my favorites list.
We shared a korean bbq beef stoneware rice and an order of rolls...
they gave us miso soup & a few servings of the kim chi side dishes to go with our lunch (all soo good),.the food was fresh and tasty...
Price is very fair...they are supposed to be a fusion restaurant which serves both korean and japanese food.
The restaurant is decorated nicely and the wait staff are all nice and helpful. Will definately come again and will tell everyone I know about it...
4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Interesting pairing of both Japanese and Korean entrees. Not really a mix or fusion of the two, literally Korean and Japanese dishes served side by side. Co-workers went for th bi-bam-bop while I tried an order of saba sashimi plus a tofu soup
Food was decent but if you went to places that specialized in one of the other you're going to find better quality. However if you're undecisive and have people who want both, well this place exists and you're in luck! I think I liked the previous restaurant a bit better as it was more of a fusion play but it looks like they kept the club/lounge like looks. The service is solid and the people watching is definitely all over the map. They also have a ton of cocktails for cheap so if you're looking to tie one on this could be a place to load up while you eat.
