This place has such a crazy name! The first time I read about it I remember thinking - is this for real? What kind of place is this? Doesn't it totally sound like it would be some sort of snazzy strip club?
Well, this place is anything but! It's a great little spot on the edge of University Village and Pilsen on Halsted. The staff is very friendly and I liked the lines of products they use. I enjoyed a hot chocolate, but I think that they could even push the chocolate theme more for clients if they wanted to.
I had the primo pedicure that met all of my chocolate needs - chocolate scrub, chocolate mask and chocolate lotion. I smelled like a candy store (and the boyfriend agreed). My nail technician was friendly and let me read my magazines but was still attentive asking if the water temperature was ok, if I needed anything, etc. I'm not a fan of the massaging chairs, but really that was my only complaint with the service.
I'd love to go back and try a facial or massage...oooh yeah chocolate for your body!

The one good thing at this salon is that it sells hair dye for "you know where," if anyone's interested.
On the other hand, I won't go back for service.
When I arrived, no one was at the reception desk, but I could hear raucous laughter in the back. They should consider a bell or something to let them know when someone comes in. Customer service is not on the menu here. It felt a little too much like junior high girls - a bit of gossipy cattiness was in the air.
I went to CFYB because it's listed by NuFree. NuFree is supposedly better for you than wax - and I get a full Brazilian. I don't know if it was the product or the person doing the work, but I left practically embarrassed.
For years, I have had only one clinician do my Brazilian who is professional, clinical in her approach, and efficient - a high standard. At CFYB, not only was the person unprofessional, first of all, actually referring to labia as vagina, (WHY did she find it necessary to even TALK about that!?). Secondlly, the product was not working, and she informed me that she "didn't want to spend too much time down there looking at that" when "I've got one of my own."
Was I mortified? You better believe it!
I have always come out of my Brazilian sessions clean like a baby's bottom, and I left CFYB pretty much the same way I went in, and I was charged for a bikini wax - which it was not.
She was unprofessional, far too familiar about my privates, and generally lacking in grace and courtesy while performing such an intimate treatment.
The entire experience was unacceptable, and I've learned my lesson. If you want the BEST Brazilian in Chicago, contact me. THIS is NOT the place.
I wish I could give this place a better rating, but they dropped a star in my books. In fact, I've decided to stop going. I've switched from waxing to threading my eyebrows due to some acne medication I'm on. Let me just say, their threading services are *not* good. While the lady was friendly, it took her nearly 20 minutes to thread my eyebrows and she missed a lot of hair. I went home and had to pluck what she missed that evening. Not to mention, pricier than the places on Taylor that do a better job. Sigh.

I come here about once a month to get my eyebrows waxed. It is very reasonably priced for the area… Read more »
i really really wanted this place to work out for me...I think i will give them a second chance. BUT my first experience was just a little off. The girl who was doing the pedicure did recommend a special that they had going on, that was actually cheaper than what i was going to get, so i thought that was cool. They offer you water or wine, which i always like. The atmosphere was the problem, something was up wtih the girls and it seemed like there was some bitchy-ness going on, and a few times the girl doing the pedicure was interrupted to handle some issues going on. A friend of mine just went there too and said almost the same thing as i did about the experience there.
this place is a great deal! it's clean and cute and the ladies who work there are very accomating and sweet. My technition spent a lot of time on me.
I reccomend doing 2 things before you walk in to chocolate:
First, check their website because there are specials online that I don't think are advertised in the salon.
Second, make sure to go to Kristoffer's next door to pick up an intelligentsia so you have a delicious coffee to sip on!
I bought a spa package from here, which was a pretty good deal.
My manicure and pedicure were good, the girls were really nice and friendly. Also, the color lasted a pretty long time without chipping. I think they have a really good student price for mani's and pedi's, too.
I had a basic facial and it was alright, but I've definitely had better.
The massage, that's what gets it 2 stars. I had the full body, hour massage, which I was pretty excited for.....until I heard the snap of the latex gloves. I have had many massages in my life and NEVER have I been massaged with gloves on. I'm not sure if it was because she had a phobia of skin touching skin or maybe she had a fatal disease in her fingertips that she was trying to protect me from, but I was just offended. The massage itself left something to be desired, but the gloves really ruined it all for me. To top it all off, the massage oil was unscented so I had the pleasure of smelling like latex all the way home!
If you are looking to get your nails done, this is a fine place, but I wouldn't recommend any other spa services.
I was so excited for my appointment at Chocolate For Your Body. I had purchased a "spa package" from a marketing company that dropped by my office. It was a pretty good deal so I figured I would purchase the package and use the opportunity to try out this new salon.
I booked myself an appointment for a facial and massage. I was initially very impressed by the salon because of the beautiful layout! I had the sense I could see myself coming back after this initial appointment.
But then at the beginning of my facial, the esthetician began giving me the hard sell in the most insulting way. She told me all these problems I have with my skin and how she wants to do all these procedures on me (way more money of course!). She then asks me "How long has it been since your last facial?" and I told her it was my first one. She responded condescendingly "Well...how old are you?"
When I told her my age she looked at me like I had broken the 11th commandment which I was apparently not aware of: "Thou shall have facials regularly".
I, of course, turned her down on extra procedures. But this conversation really ruined my experience here. I was so angry at how she treated me that I really didn't enjoy my time. When you go to a salon, you go to pamper yourself, not to be insulted!
Well CFYB lost me on their hard sell and I definitely will not be back for other services.
Just two doors down from my condo - this was the perfect place to get a pedicure - especially when my plates are expired and I'm afraid to drive anywhere until I get off my butt to get it done!
I was in a rush to get my toes done to prepare for a trip to Louisville the next day - so I made an appointment with Chocolate and was at their doorstep 8 mins later! It's a cute spa - very zen like with dark chocolate woods, but cheap Ikea decor. I hopped into their massage chairs and immediate flicked on the switch for a massage. But, their chairs kinda suck compared to the rotating, kneeding chairs that you can get at less pricier spas.
Jessica did a great job on my cuticles - I hadn't had a pedi in about 5 weeks and really took her time. The bill was $42 for just a pedi. Expensive, but convenient.
I like the convenience of the spa, being two doors down. I also like that they have a great selection of services including waxing, massage, etc. They will also close off the space for a girls day where it is BYOB and BYOF (FOOD) which is pretty cool, but you need a minimum of 8 girls and I think each person needs to spend about $250.
I was in there once and that was one time too many! They are a few doors over from where I live-seemed like a good idea.
The girl who did my nails was insulting through the whole manicure. She commented on how short my nails were-when I told her they needed to be for my profession, she rolled her eyes.
When I walked in, no one said hello but they were quick to try to sell me everything. They never shut up about everything they have to sell.
The owner pranced around, fussing over nothing and the other employees were surfing for music as they were putting on the hard sell.
It is dirty in there! Dusty corners, filthy manicure stations...
Don't waste your money or your time!
This place just opened down the street from my apartment. My roommate and I walked in after work and they couldn't have been friendlier.
They literally just opened that day and were still working some kinks out but they greeted us right away and gave us a tour of the place. So nice. Serene atmosphere. Very open, airy, calming.
We checked out the price list - typical competitive spa prices. After I find enough quarters in the couch, I'm scheduling a facial STAT. And they even gave us sample goody bags when we left - and we didn't even get anything done!
It's nice to see some commerce coming to the area and I love that it's an independent place - the owner was very sweet and so excited about finally being open.
So I say schedule a facial or mani/pedi, whatever you're into (however please refrain from using the term "mani/pedi") and then stop by Kristoffer's for quesadillas and local art. Sounds like a lovely Saturday!
this experience was just not to par.
I had the best spa time here - the manicures are amazing! I got a package for first time customers with 4 services - mani, pedi, facial, and massage. Only downside was I had to go in for 4 different appointments as stipulated by the package. I was going out of town so they graciously accommodated me right away, which was nice.
The nail technicians were friendly, I met the owner while I was there and everyone was nice. The place is larger than it looks - 4 pedi stations, 2-3 mani stations on the main floor, then massage room downstairs and facial/waxing upstairs. Clean and bright rooms with dark brown accents to go along with the theme. I enjoyed my appointments there and my mani and pedi lasted weeks! I'm definitely going back.
For the first time user's package, it was $50 + tip which was a great deal, but you can only use it once.
I had an AWESOME manicure and pedicure! I'm disappointed that it took me so long to actually give this place a try. My manicurist was great. She paid a lot of attention to my cuticles and 2 days later, they don't look all dry and snagged like they do when I come back from this nail salon I usually go to. Parking is really easy too and its a few minutes away from home. They have a great student special for $28 on some days so it's safe to say I'll be here again. The only complaint I have was the receptionist wasn't all that friendly and she was on the phone for a while before she paid any attention to me. She wasn't snotty, but definitely not too friendly.
I thought I would give this place another chance, so I went in again for another mani/pedi, and found the experience much more enjoyable. They answered the phone on my first call, and my manicurist was a lovely lady who did a great job. The NO-CHIP manicure is seriously a fantastic deal. I am all about supporting small businesses, and this place seems to be doing very well. Kudos!

My boyfriend got me a spa package through a promotions company. I was a little nervous going that far south, I'm definitely a northside kinda girl. But Chocolate for your body was great! Just off of 94 and easy to find parking. I felt very comfortable walking in and almost one week after getting my mani/pedi, my manicure still looks great!! They really take their time, are genuinely nice, and have great conversation. I felt great going in and am definitely going back soon - even if it was a 45 minute drive for me! (I went during peak rush-house...) I can't wait for my facial and massage! I already made my appointment!!
I just got the best manicure&pedicure. They do a wonderful job and don't skimp you on service. Very friendly staff.
so i really liked this place the first two times i went. but today i went and got horrible service. i felt like i was at an express car wash. first, i didn't get welcomed, didn't get asked i wanted a drink of water at the least and then waited around my waxing person. when i get there it's two people there. one of them tries to convince me that i should use the waxing bottles that have burned my legs before, as per her perspective it's the same wax! i argue with her consistently that i don't want that. then i proceed to get waxed by two folks at the same time. so i know this may work for some to get things done quickly but i'm at a salon not in line for my morning coffee. i felt so rushed and the one women was not even patting the wax long it enough to get everything. i told the reception that next time they should ask the customer if they want two people working on them and she just said a simply sorry and that's all. not cute! plus i got home to tonight and there are several areas that they missed!! i'm not going back!!
