I have been seeing Dr. Paula Strauss for TMJ treatment and have found the experience so positive, I wanted to leave a review on Yelp. The office is so well-organized, everyone is super nice and Dr. Strauss put me at ease immediately. The soft-tissue manipulation work she does for treating TMJ is extremely comfortable and I am already feeling relief from the tension in my jaw. I had been recommended by a friend who suffers from migraines and was told she works miracles with any sort of headache or neck problems, so I she was the perfect doctor to turn to with my jaw issues. I would recommend Dr. Paula Strauss for anyone suffering from head, neck or jaw pain or problems.

What can I say about Dr. Strauss?
Well, let's start with my original reason for visiting. I woke up one day with lower right back pain so bad I could barely move. I've had aches and pains before, but nothing even close to this. So I called and they were able to see me the same day. Dr Strauss is friendly, knowledgeable and what I like most is that she doesn't talk down to you or treat you like a child. She thoroughly explains everything she is doing and what its purpose is.
During my first visit, Paula took x-rays and found that there were some problems in my lower back, but the top of my spine was a mess as well. In particular, one of the vertebrae in the top of my neck was pushed forward. Since the 4th visit, my lower back pain has gone away, but that's not the best part of my story:
I moved to California in June 2009. Very shortly after I moved, I started to have seizures. At first they were mild twitches in my hands, but they increased in severity and intensity to the point where I was having them monthly. I visited a neurologist and they ran an MRI and an EEG, both of which were negative. Their solution was to put me on medication. The medication did stop the seizures, but it also made it so that any time I missed a pill, I would almost always have a seizure.
A little over two months ago, I ran out of my medication. It took 2 days to have it overnighted to me and in those 2 days I didn't have a seizure like I normally would when missing a dose. So, out of curiosity I stopped taking the meds. Its now been 10 weeks and I haven't had a single seizure. I can't say for certain that Dr. Strauss cured me of seizures, nor do I know whether I will ever have one again (I have the pills just in case), but I think that the adjustments she has done in my neck have given me a better night's sleep and I don't believe its just a coincidence that the seizures are gone.
I can't thank Dr. Strauss enough. You can't understand the terror of having seizures, wondering whether you can drive safely, wondering how bad the next one will be, unless you've had them. Dr Strauss is a life saver! She found a problem I didn't know was there and fixing it has made an enormous difference in my life. -

To be honest, I have always been skeptical of chiropractors. But after hurting my back I decided to give it a shot. Paula was very careful about fully diagnosing things before doing anything - xrays, etc. Her treatment was done with care and concern. and within days things began to improve.
She is very concerned with overall health and not in just giving adjustments. She recommends specific exercises, works with you on overall health and well being, and encourages continuing activities. Of course part of this is regular adjustments, but that is part of long term care.
I highly recommend Paula and have even taken one of my children to her.Listed in: House - the Dr., not the…

Did my research and this is how I found Paula here.
She specializes in upper Cervical Spine so it was perfect for my subluxation -hernia disc problem which now is doing very well.
I do thank her and she is one of the best! -

Bottom line: I used to have 2-3 days a month when I did not have a headache.
Since I began treatments with Dr. Strauss I have had (maybe) 1 or 2 headaches...period!
I know that for a lot of people Chiropractor is a bad word. Whether it's because of a bad experience or because we are conditioned by our regular medical doctors to believe that chiropractors are "quacks".
I have always hated the negative connotation because I have always had success with them and could not imagine my life without them.
When medical doctors have told me, "nothing can be done. You will just have to live in pain for the rest of your life". I did not accept "pain forever" as an option.
I am no stranger to alternative forms of treatment, whether it be chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage therapy, and even methods that are lesser known but equally as effective.
I have always felt that if you have an open mind and heart anything is possible and even if something is psychosomatic it still works.
On my first visit to Dr. Strauss as I was filling out the new patient paperwork I was shocked to realize that I have suffered from severe headaches (migraines and clusters) for 20 years, literally since I was 14.
I had a head and neck injury at 21 (fractured the 1st two vertebrae in my neck, Cervical Spine 1&2) and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at 29.
I have tried EVERYTHING to get these headaches to go away but never had much success in getting the to go away completely. (Not saying that my other treatments didn't help with other issues) it seems that every treatment would help the headaches temporarily.
I was expecting to hear that I would need to change my diet and exercise habits drastically, but this was not the case. Upon meeting Dr. Strauss I was excited and felt encouraged when she explained to me what she does. She is an upper cervical spine chiropractor.
The point at which your head attaches to your neck - the upper cervical spine - is the most mobile part of your body.
Upper cervical chiropractic helps you to recreate your natural symmetry and balance. This healing practice employs gentle correction to eliminate neurological irritation.
There is nothing to be afraid of, for those who are apprehensive. It is a very gentle adjustment.
Dr. Strauss is excited about what she does and her energy is infectious.
Since I began treatments with her I have never felt better.
There have been times in my past when I have had a headache every day for a month, especially when the weather changes.
I never thought that anything could be done for the weather related headaches, because no one can change the weather. But she certainly changed the way my head feels. She is treating the main issue, not just the symptoms.
I don't feel like I need to crack my neck all the time. I don't get the crunching cracking grinding sounds when I turn my head. And when the weather changes I don't have to hide under the covers in a dark cold room for days.

First of all, thank you Yelp reviewers for helping me to find Dr. Strauss! I went to her based on your high recommendations, and have been very happy with her abilities.
When I called to make my first appointment, Dr. Strauss' friendly office manager, Holly, was extremely helpful. She called my insurance company so she could give me the details on my exact coverage, and called me back right away to educate me. I'm not sure about other insurance companies, but she does network with United Healthcare.
Dr. Strauss is very thorough in your first exam and interval check-ups. She has a very academic and analytic approach to chiropractic care, and I really appreciate her for this. Plus, she's very personable, which helps put you at ease (getting adjusted can be stressful for many people).
I started seeing Dr. Strauss because of my severe neck pain, which I know was caused by slouching at a computer all day. With chiropractic care you shouldn't expect immediate perfection, but with Dr. Strauss I did get fast pain relief! They also have this very efficient system, which makes popping in on your lunch break very fast and easy ~ they've always been very accommodating of my schedule. I rarely have to wait in the waiting room, any waiting is normally done lying down in a patient room and it's very minimal. I love going here! -

I like Dr. Paula Strauss - she is willing to really listen and adapt her methods to your needs if progress is not being made. Would definitely go there for care on a regular basis. My only wish is that there was a little more privacy during your visit, which she doesn't have because of the open floor layout.
Like most chiropractors, she has a strong push towards other stuff like vitamins and exercise - what I like is that she isn't over-pushy about it like some of them become.
They also have massage therapists there which I haven't tried.
Practical tip: if you're heading east on Hamilton, you can't see the sign until almost too late... and their main parking lot is unsigned. -

Dr. Strauss and her office is WONDERFUL. Upon entering, you're greeted by the very professional, very polite and soft-spoken receptionist, Holly. The decor of her office is nothing like I've seen before. It's so warm and welcoming and not medical grade and cold. She puts out lots of holistic type literature for you to enjoy while you wait. Although, honesty. I haven't had a chance to enjoy much of it since my wait time is pretty much non-existent. They've got the incoming/outgoing patient timing down pact. She also provides children's books and a basket full of toys which is a nice feature to me, being a mom of a youngin'.
My initial visit was surprisingly comprehensive. I just assumed I would get the "pat down" and then told I'd have to come back x times a week for a crack here and a crack there. I have a feeling a lot of people may still have the same misconceptions about chiropractors unfortunately. It was not like that at all. She uses this high tech device along your neck which scans it for variations in temperature and alignment. The image of your neck appears on her computer screen, along with the color-coded state that it's in. She does this at the beginning of your treatment and then again at the end to compare. It's so convincing to be able to actually see what is going on with you instead of just being told this and that. She also takes a series of x-rays and physically checks you out. She saves the data each time you're seen and uses it to help with your treatment.
I put up with back pain for over 3 years! I am so glad that I finally found someone who truly wants to help. Dr. Strauss is a total professional but on top of that, she's charming, warm, funny, kind, and she's an animal lover! I've been seeing her for over a month now and my condition has definitely improved! -

This place is great. I suffered from migraines for a long time. They were so severe I had to hide in the dark, vomit a lot, and hope I didn't die.
I started going to see Dr Paula and feel great. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't instant success but over time my frequency went from 1 / week to 1 every 3 months or so. Plus they aren't as severe as they were. I can actually function with a headache if I have to.
Dr Paula gave me back a week every other month. Now I have a lot more time to do what I want. It was a terrific investment in my life & health.
All I can tell you is make the call and get some help. You will be glad you did. -

Dr. Paula Strauss knows her stuff! Further, she is approachable, professional and committed to her patience's well being.
I've suffered from chronic neck pain for years. She has helped me re-gain mobility and has also significantly reduced my pain in under a month's time. Unlike other chiropractors, she does not adjust you every time. She assesses and if an adjustment is not in order, she treats trigger points or stretches the effected muscles.
Her office is pleasant, front office is professional and knowledgeable and parking is a breeze. -

Dr Strauss is awesome. I had to change chiros because I moved and wasnt looking forward to it. Once you find someone who works for you its hard to change. Alas I found her on Yelp! Great reviews and very accurate. I couldnt be more pleased. She has a great "bedside" manner. Easy going and easy to talk to. I tried another female chiro and was not able to get a proper adjustment. That is not the case here. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Strauss is pure magic. I can't believe how much better I feel after treatment! I stopped seeing my old chiropractor because I really didn't like his manner- he was just kind of slimy, and I left every session feeling like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need or want. Yuck. Not only does Dr. Strauss have a great bedside manner, I can't believe how much better her treatment is! She spends a lot of time checking my progress, and tailors her treatment to my individual needs. I absolutely trust her. I can feel my posture changing for the better, and I'm able to sit and stand now without pain. I can't recommend her enough! Three cheers for Dr. Strauss!

I recently had the blessing to meet Dr. Strauss, and she has been a God send! I can't tell you how much pain I was in for the past 10ish years. I suffered from Migraines - almost every day! I've never been to a chiropractor before, and was very skeptical, but I am now a true believer! I've been to see 3 times now, but feel like a whole new woman!! Dr. Strauss is by far the nicest, most professional, and friendliest person I have had the opportunity to come in contact with! If you're thinking about it...DO IT!! you won't regret it!

I have been skeptical for years about seeing a chiropractor until I saw amazing reviews on yelp for Dr. Paula Strauss so I decided to give her a try. Wow! She is just absolutely wonderful. She takes the time to listen to your problems and explains the procedures with you. She just makes you feel really comfortable.
I've had unbearable pain in my sciatica for almost a month. I can honestly say that after my 1st visit of adjustments, she really did wonders. I can literally get up from my chair or out of the car with no problem at all. Where as before, it was so painful doing this. The pain is not completely gone and I know it will take some time to fully heal but for the most part it is much more bearable now.
Thank you Dr. Strauss! -

I wish I came to Dr Strauss sooner! I was scared of going to a chiropractor after seeing those horror clips on TV/movies, but they were so wrong! Paula is super nice, professional, and has magical hands. I gained much more mobility in my neck and lower back area. Both of my shoulder blades can finally touch the floor when I do a Yoga spinal twist!!
The receptionist Holly is also super nice. -

I was having a daily migraines for more than 30 days.
My primary care doctor did a lot of workup with no results. The only answer he had was to give me all the pain killer i wanted. Not being happy with being heavily medicated long term i was in search of an alternative.
I had never considered a chiropractor before. Headaches are Paula's specialty and she was very effective with my issues. It took nearly two months but i was seeing progress after ever visit.
I am now symptom free !! -

My schools never had lockers and I was forced to carry all my textbooks in my backpack. I think my backpack weighed in at 15 pounds in 7th grade once. Long story short I had backpain most of my junior high and high school life. I finally saw Dr. Strauss and after treatment the backpain finally went away. I rarely sleep with my knees up anymore (lower back pain) and I'm able to do physical activities (2nd Degree Blackbelt) without my back bugging me. I'm glad I was able to find Dr. Strauss young in life to prevent problems in the future. Other reasons I recommend her: short wait time (unheard of in any dr's office!), clean office, organized, pleasent atmosphere (see photos), the wonderful office manager, Holly, and the fact that Dr. Strauss is a doctor that listens and doesn't rush you out of her office. I believe that is a rare quality in the medical world. To keep this short, if you go, you won't be dissapointed!
