Hmmm....yummy burgers. This place looks like a small house, but really they sell some great burgers.
Didn't like the fact it was on a poppy seed bun, but I got the burger done medium rare and together with the fresh toppings (melty cheese, lett, tom) it was just fab.
Their cheese fries were very good too.
Overall, this is a great place and would definitely come back and this time try the onion rings and a different kind of burger.

Girl Scout end of season party...so this was not exactly my choice, since I had a GREAT Kobe hamburger at Cheesecake Factory last night. I didn't get a hamburger. I got a bowl of chili and a side of roasted garlic fries. Chili was okay, but my chili taster is totally skewed from the trip to Terlingua--chili capital of THE FREAKING WORLD.
The fries...oh the fires. They put me in fry heaven. It was a big basket and I ate over half of it. Didn't even need the ranch dip. I think we all know I ate the ranch anyway...sometimes just with a spoon.
I tried my daughters burger repeatedly. Chip's is known around town for its burgers. And the burger was good, but not amazing like I wanted it to be. The toppings were fresh, meat okay, bun was poppy seeded. The meat was a tad dry, maybe overdone. And there wasn't a lot of flavor. Some folks really like them that way, so I'm not going to over scoff it. Again, taste buds may be off due to Kobe burger.
I will go back and give the pork sliders a try...and get more of those roasted garlic fries. I'm still thinking about them.

I was very surprised at how much I liked Chip's.
I ordered their slider version of a burger (3 tiny burgers vs 1 large one), fries, and a Coke.
Fries were fresh and tasty. My friend's sweet potato fries were the bomb. The burger meat had good seasoning and flavor. It may rival Jake's in the best burger in Dallas race.
The one thing I could not make sense of was why everything was a la carte. Would it kill ya to make something a combo price?

Great burger joint! There's a good variety of selections on the menu, even chicken and a salad or two for non burger eaters. After you eat, you can play a couple of their video games upstairs. My favorite side to order are the shoestring onion rings. Delish! The only thing that would make Chips even better if they had some sort of combo meal so you didn't have to order burger, side, and drink all separate.

I've been eating here for years. They have a good variety on the menu....from the Pig Sandwich to Salads to Burgers. I always stick with the chicken sandwich though. They use fresh ingredients and the buns are good.
Try the desert shake with your meal, it's kids size so you don't get too full. Nice patio. Parking is a bit tricky.

I love Chip's. The burger is one of the best I've ever tasted and I always have a tough decision between the burger of the week and one loaded with guacamole, which is a serious weakness of mine. Mostly because I was deprived as a child because my mother told me it was poisonous to children so that she could take my helping at restaurants and eat it also. But, I digress. Chip's is a burger joint with great fries, good beer, and great atmosphere. The owner, Dennis, is friendly, welcoming and full of good southern home flavor. The garlic fries are addicting and although I haven't made it to the tiny shoestring onion rings, they're supposed to be awesome as well. If you cut into the neighborhood north of Lovers, head down Amherst to the Tollway access road, and then cut south you can park along the side of the building which removes the hassle of the small parking lot off the trafficked ridiculous Lovers Lane.

This place would have 4 stars if not for the price friekin HP, we don't all drive benz's. $20 for two sandwiches a large fries and 2 drinks is too much.
The burger was good, not to greasy and good flavor. I like the tex. style poppy bun it was a little smashed though and I had to give it a little cali flavor with some ketchup. The fries weren't that fresh and just ok, I guess I should have gotten the shoestring onions. I liked the atmosphere, kicked back, almost like SoCal. Not like Jake's where my girlfriend has to keep hitting me for gawking at all the waitresses.

If you want a good, hearty burger on a tasty poppy seed bun with shoestring onion rings or fries, look no further than Chip's. Nestled off the Knox-Henderson area of Uptown, Chip's is in an old house and has a full menu offering chicken sandwiches, burgers, chicken strips, salads and portobello burgers. The traditional burgers are tasty and come with the works. I am usually wary of portobellos outside of a sit down restaurant but they were fresh, plump and perfectly prepared for the burger. The fries are thick, but crispy and they even offer four different types of ranch for dipping.
The two minuses are the cost and the old creaky chairs and close seating arrangements (although there is great outdoor seating if it is nice outside). The burger price is separate from the fries, add a drink, jalapenos and ranch and you are looking at over 10 dollars. That is a bit steep for a burger joint although I usually do not have any complaints after I finish my meal.

One of the better burger places in Dallas. They have good burgers for about $5. You should also try the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich: grilled chicken, sauted jalepenos, and pepperjack cheese on jalepeno cheddar toast. very tasty.
Chip's is one of my burger restaurant staples for one reason... the onion rings. Chip's friend shoestrings are one of my favorite foods as they are thin, crispy, and have the perfect amount of salty taste to them. Their burgers are good too but it's the onion strings that keep me coming in.
The only downsides to Chip's are the parking (the lot is small and shared with another restaurant) and the prices (a tad high compared to most burger joints).
