As a child I lived within blocks of Chinatown and grew up with dim-sum and so I can tell you that China Pearl in Woburn offers the most authentic Cantonese dim-sum outside of Chinatown. Unlike other suburban Schezuan "dim-sum", the dim sum offered by China Pearl is truly Cantonese/Hong Kong style. The ala cart, push-cart style of service, which is the same you get in Hong Kong, is efficient allowing you to try various dishes without needing to know their names. The dishes come immediately out of the kitchen freshly cooked waiting for to point and pick them. The variety is ample ranging from the popular shiu mie and har gow to the crispy fried taro root. You can also special order plates of tender chinese brocolli and succulent clams in black bean sauce. If you enjoy authentic Cantonese style dim-sum, no other place outside of Chinatown beats China Pearl in Woburn.

We had dim sum here, it was pretty good. We didn't know what we were eating though, there was only one waitress that spoke very broken english. The tea was good (jasmine tea). It was reasonably priced too, we had 4 dim sum plates and a plate of this tofu dessert with watermelon balls and tapioca pearls for $17 for two people. That's about how much we pay for breakfast at a diner! The inside is nicely decorated, the outside doesn't look as great as the inside.. so don't judge a book by it's cover..
the food was okay. i've been a couple times now, the first time for dimsum, i thought the food was better, only because more carts came by, so we got to try more things.
when i went todayn for dimsum, it was absolutely horrible. barely anyone was coming by with food, the waiters were so rude, and it's tough when everyone barely speaks english, which, one could argue, is my own problem, walkiung into a chinese restaurant, but thye certainly don't need to be rude about it.
So China Pearl been here a number of times for both eat in and take out. . The food is always good and drinks, host is really nice and willing to accomodate. However, a few months ago I went on a date there about 7ish and we were seated. As I sipped on my scorpion bowl I saw a mouse run accross the main floor, thinking I was seeing things my date saw another. EEEEKK!!! In the main dining hall ..hmmm..sounds infested to me. So we let the host know we would not be staying for our food...they comped the drinks and I havent been back. Stinks because the food is among the best in the area.

so far since moving to Reading we've tried a bunch of chinese places and like China Pearl the best!
The dim sum here is actually pretty good. I personally think it's comparable to Hei-La Moon in Chinatown.
The only beef I have with this place is they stupid ass charge you for tea and rice. When you go to Chinatown and you drink all of your tea--flip the lid up and dai lo will come over and refill your tea pot with hot water because tea leaf still have some flavor in it...flipping the lid here is an invitation to a bigger bill.

Although it's the same owners as China Pearl in Boston, it's not the same for dim sum. The selection, the quality, everything just seems to be much better at the Boston location than up in Woburn.
I went for dinner on a Thursday night and it was completely unoccupied. The ceiling had mold on it and dusty. The dining area smelled like the bathroom and garbage. The food was good, and could have been better if my senses weren't so assaulted by the smell.
Not bad.
I went here for a friend's birthday get-together recently. By the time I arrived (8:30-9:00 PM), everyone else there had already eaten. I was starving, so I decided to order up some drinks and food.
It was getting late and I just wanted to stuff my face with some greasy appetizers, so I got a Pu Pu Platter, an order of Peking Dumplings, and a shitload of Long Island Iced Teas.
Prices? Fair.
Portions? Generous.
Atmosphere? Pretty spacious, but I was there on a Sunday night and it seemed slow.
Service? Decent.
Food? Pretty much what I expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I don't know what else to say. I didn't go here for a fine-dining experience, but more of a late night snack. At any rate, I would come back and order something a little more sophisticated.

I was really impressed with China Pearl. In fact, the wonton soup might have been the best wonton soup I've ever had...and I lived outside of San Francisco for 5 years!! The vegetables were so fresh and crisp, and the wontons were stuffed with deliciousness. The steamed Peking ravioli was great too. I really enjoyed my chicken chow foon, too. Most places have a pile of noodles with a few pieces of chicken, but with China Pearl's chow foon, the noodles were buried under a mountain of tender chicken and fresh bok choy.
The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, especially the hallway that leads to the dining area, it gives the illusion you are walking through a tropical rain forest. The layout/floor plan is brilliant and would be perfect to take large groups or just a close friend. You can dress up or dress down, either way works here.
They have a great selection of food items which many other restaurants in this area do not carry [ex. jumbo honey walnut shrimp--which is DELICIOUS] not to mention a large fully stocked bar.
The only reason I did not give it a 5 is b/c I have to admit that sometimes their service is slow, and the exterior is in desparate need of TLC. Prices may be a bit higher but portions are generous so it's all relative.
HOLY WOW!
Best Chinese I have had out of the city. It's not even close. This place is huge, so I've never had a wait for a table. The decor inside is great -- you feel very cultured.
The service is impeccable -- whether it's for an early lunch or during the dinner rush. The prices are more than reasonable, but for the best bargain, get the lunchtime all you can eat buffet. The food is amazing, and the price can't be beat. Plus, if you do the buffet, you can be in and out in less than a half hour, which is good for a quickie lunch.

I was passing through Wobum on my way back to Lowell, and I just happened to stop for dinner. This restaurant is right beside the highway in a huge plaza. I didn't think there would be such a big Chinese restaurant in the middle of the MA. The quality and quantity of the food is so good, and I swear if I pass by next time, I will stop again for dinner. The Chinese food is close to authentic, and the service was great. The price is right as well. I would strongly recommend people to try this restaurant, and you wouldn't regret...

This place is really good! The staff is amazing (I go so often they know me and my parents) And I love how it's closer to where I live then having to go all the way into Chinatown. PLUS, Chinatown is always super busy on the wkends... this place in Woburn is so much cleaner and just more relaxing. I don't feel like I'm gonna miss out on my favorite dishes or find a hair in my dumplings (haha) But go early or you'll miss out on dan ta's (egg tarts) and the tofu pudding (my favs!!!!)

China Pearl is a very popular restaurant in Chinatown. However, sometimes going into Chinatown to have dim sum is a big pain in the tush. There is a place in Woburn, decently close to me. It is kind of like going to eat in Chinatown but without the traffic, parking irritations, and crowds =). Food is pretty much the same and the design of the restaurant is beautiful, even though the exterior is ok.

I FINALLY made it to dim sum at the China Pearl!! I have been wanting to go there for months however Dennis likes to eat Sunday breakfast early and dim sum does not start till 10:00, so I convince him to eat late for cultures sake.
So we get there and its 10:00 am sharp and the grand main dining room is already full. There all these Chinese waitresses are going around with cute carts of dim sum offerings to all the tables. I can see that if you do not speak Chinese or know the food culture well, you have a disadvantage as many of the items I did not know what they were and the waitress explained best they could.
We had a great meal. Tonz of variety and everything was fresh, fresh, fresh!! For 2 of us it came to abt. $15 each. I was told my Miss Tiffie (see Yelp friend list) that Dim Sum should not be more than abt.$10 pp. I do not know if we took too much but it was fun I hope to come back with friends next time. I took some pics for you all to enjoy.
Yeah for Dim Sum!!!!

i never had dim sum here- only because i thought you had to trek down to chinatown for such - but i will soon.
this review is for GARY. gary is the the most nicest, the most delightful server ever. he's always smiling and so ...NICE. no matter how shitty you feel towards society, gary uplifts you and you forget it all. the scorpian bowls could help you in forgetting too. they make their drinks STRONG.
he's pretty easy to spot- he's basically the only server in the bar area. next time you go- look for gary and treat the man with your utmost kindess because he will too.
place is very townie but offers good chinese food.
crab rangoon - YUM
chow fun- YUM...(think chinatown chow fun) :)
We love this place! it's busy at the weekends but we have never had to wait long. The food is great and the service is friendly. It's a great place for families. Parking can be tough on busy days though.
