This is a great place to eat late at night and it is very inexpensive. The portions are great and it is great for eating a meal with friends. What my friends and I do is that we order a bunch of dishes and get rice and eat Family Style. I love the food here. Although it is not the best Chinese food out there. It is the best place that is open at this time in that area. Carrow's is another great place to eat but it's not as fun.

Pros - The food is amazingly good to eat and the portions are great. Great place to eat with friends on a late night.

Cons - The place is tiny. There is always a long wait and it gets really hard to move around the restaurant because it is very cramped. They only have 3 sodas available. Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. They have a milk tea every now and then.

They like green paper. No Plastic.

Cheap and open late.  I have no problems with good food at a good price and free milk tea.  Um, I can't really read chinese but what I could read in english was some crazy game meat that they serve: venison, ostrich, & alligator.

One thing I learned from a friend was to bring a calculator (or at least just look at the receipt) to make sure you're getting charged the right amount!

Late night eats - open til 3am!

Inexpensive and large portions that are tasty.  No it's not the best, but I'd rather have this than Denny's.

Fav's:
*Salt and pepper chicken
*Salt and pepper fried tofu
*Snow pea shoots
*Tomato beef - beef is really tender
*Saute spinach in garlic
*Porridge with chicken and mushroom

They give you pearl milk, but it's really tasteless and the pearls are a bit chewy.  It's free so can't complain.  You get a $1.00 off gift certificate for every $10 you spend.  These gift certs you can use on your next visit, but look on them, there is an expiration date.

CASH ONLY

So as I suspected, going back to talk to the "owner" was useless. He had conveniently left a few mins before I got there. I will say the evening cashier was much nicer and pleasant and actually seemed like she wanted to help when I told her the situation. She told me that the manager type I got into the argument with was *actually* the owner, or at least one of the owners. Yeah, the same one whose favorite phrase is "I dunno" and who was completely useless. I was told I can call the next day and talk to the "big boss". At this point, it's so worthless to pursue since trying to communicate with them is more effort than it's worth. So they win this round since I have better things to do with my time, but karma's a b!tch as we all know.

Everyone usually comes here after clubbing or a night of drinking. Why cuz its the only thing that's pretty much opening late. I been here a few time and the food is okay. I mean certain things are better than others but overall its okay Chinese food. Last night I had the Beef Chow Fun, can't really go wrong with that. The Onion Pancake was okay. We order Chitling and yes I didn't touch those. That's not my kind of flavor.

This restaurant is the best place for when I want to eat a ton of food for a really great price! 26 dollars gave me like 4 plates of food, which was 3 entrees and 1 dessert. They also give free tea drinks with pearls, which are REALLY tasty. I love it!

It's not just the price, the food is tasty too! Sure, it's cramped on some days but the service is still awesome. The lady is always nice to me and doesn't hesitate when I ask her for tea refills or for anything else on that matter. Quick service, and great smiles.

The only reason why it's 4 stars is because of the food. The food isn't phenomenal, but it is pretty tasty and it's worth the price. my favorite dish is the fried pepper and salt fish. mmmm~

Also, another reason why I like this place is because of the time it closes. It closes really late! PERFECT for late night outings. I'm a night owl, so the restaurant hours (11-3am) are heaven for me.

Overall, above average food, great price, and great hours!

This place is decent if you find yourself hungry late at night. They give you free milk tea (extremely diluted but it's free so can't complain), although I did notice that some people got pearls while others (like myself) didn't. The pearls wouldn't have been good though I'm sure haha.

Tried the wonton noodle soup and it was alright. The noodles were total Campbell noodle soup status though, sadly. On the plus side, the wontons were pretty good, so that made up for it. My friend's grilled chicken with rice wasn't too good, very salty and not much else in terms of flavor.

Service is pretty much non-existent...I had to flag them down to get our order taken, and they were kinda indifferent about everything. Brought our food and never checked up on us again except to give us the bill. Maybe I'll be back again to try their other items, but it's definitely not my first choice.

Random note: there was a crazy fight in here once, and it's actually on YouTube. Hahaha.

This is my go to Chinese restaurant at lunch or late night. The prices are good, food tasty and fast service. Not friendly, but fast.

I usually give places like this 3 stars, but there are 2 dishes here that earns them an extra star.

First, there are plenty of food listed on the wall, some are not on the menu so look those over. And next, the specials board. 2 of my favorite dishes here are on it.

The first one is stir fry deer meat. kinda like Mongolian beef, but with deer. and second, is a lamb kabob. comes in 2 flavors, regular and spicy. I get the spicy. I don't have too many memories of my child hood, but one that I can still remember is eating a lamb kabob, purchased from a street vendor, when I was very young, still living in Shanghai. I was told later that it was Beijing style lamb kabob. the lamb here, taste just like I had so many years ago.

usually a hit or miss, depending on the day and time you chose to dine. considering it's open till 3am, china palace has always served as a life saver for out late night munchies. though it remains inconsistent regarding service and quality, it's convenient hours plus extremely affordable prices makes up big time for that.

some dishes i've found more spectacular than others include the honey walnut prawns, salt and pepper fillet, and salted fish/chicken/tofu clay pot. another plus which i love would be the complimentary honey milk tea with pearls! but like everything else it isn't always consistent and is sometimes too watered down.

some perks and amusement- the daily specials never seem to change. one of these we'll attempt to order the ostrich or crocodile and see if it's really even available. also titanic seems to be the only movie they ever play. i do appreciate the $1 off coupons they include at the end of the meal though. maybe one day we'll actual remember to bring it along!

I got to go to one of my all time favorites on Barber Lane this weekend, I was a happy girl!

Top reasons are:

Quick, no frills Mandarin cuisine, with Taiwanese snack dishes.
Free boba tea
Good service and friendly staff
Authentic dishes
One of a kind, famous Beijing lamb kabobs, "yang ro chuan"

My favorites are the bamboo shoots and pork dish and the hot and spicy eggplant. You can't go wrong even if you blindly order anything off the menu.

They also give you 2 dollar off coupons every time you go there, which is a niiice touch!

If you want great Chinese food late night China Palace is the place to be!  First of all they give everyone in your party free milk tea!  Wow!  Great touch!  We had the Salt and Pepper Fish and it is just awesome!  The other food we had was really good as well.  Really tasty!  The prices are very reasonable.  They do have food you can order from the wall, butt they can't be read.  My Fiancee says that we should just try and throw darts at the wall and that is what we will eat for the day.  Maybe one day we will be brave enough to try that.  The only problems with this place is that it is small so sometimes you have to wait and cash only.

I LOVE THE FOOD! 100% authentic Chinese food.
It's not really anything from Panda Express to Mr. Chow typical Chinese fast food. It taste REAL. Free milk tea as a compliment. Cheap. The food is amazing.

But service is really bad, so don't mind it! And the best thing is it close at 3AM!!!!

Honey walnut shrimp are to die for.

Big portions, decent food, cheap prices, open late and fast service, what else could you need?  Simple dishes and ample selection populate the menu of China Palace.  Stiff competition with the restaurant next door but still this place seems to have more costumers consistently.  They offer free bubble tea with your meal as well which is nice.

Cannot say that the food is remarkable but if you're hungry and in the area it is definitely a place that you should consider, I know I do!

This place reminds me of the one day I spent in Hong Kong. It's a portal to China in there. The workers barely speak English. They are unfriendly and rush you. The food is cheap, fast, and pretty solid. Just like real Asian dining ha.

The complimentary pearl milk tea is a nice touch, but the boba balls are horribly hard and not soft and chewy as they should be. The food isn't the cleanest, nor the tastiest but they have about 300 options on the menu and things liken bison, ostrich, pigeon, snake, eel, and other wild animals i'd never eat. I also love the pictures that wallpaper the wall. Once I couldn't decide and walked around like it was an art exhibit looking at all the pictures before deciding on beef chow fun. Everything I have here is exactly 3 stars. Give it a shot if you have $6-8 bucks and need a fast simple filling meal after a night our or for dinner.

The give free milk tea, balls are a little on the hard side

mixed veggies were decent.

house special chow fun, good but i wanted more noodles

salt & pepper chicken wings. good. but watch out because there is also sweet & sour chicken wings, and glazed chicken wings. some other table got in an argument with the waitress because they didnt want what they supposedly ordered.

service is a bit off, so i dont think they are 3-stars worthy.

I will have to return and eat basic Chinese food here.  Until then I give this place a 2.

healthy soup: 0/5 stars
The healthy chicken soup is equivalent to a cup of hot water with chicken bones in it.  I guess the combination could be deemed healthy.

string beans and shrimp: 3/5 stars - not bad

spicy fish in clay pot: 2/5 stars
a two year old could make this

house special spicy fried chicken: 3.7 stars - best thing here next to the string beans

Service: 3/5

Called in from home for a pick up order. once the order was placed I made myself a fresh new batch of quinoa using my rice cooker and THEN I left to go pick it up. They said 15 minutes.... took me about 5 minutes to prep the quinoa and then head out. Took me about 10 minutes to get there. Then it took them another 15 minutes to actually have my order ready... WTF? I think they wanted to make sure I actually showed up to pick up the food before they started cooking my order... defeats the purpose of phone order. (-_-)

I ordered my once favorite dish from here, the salt and pepper calamari... First thing I noticed once I opened up the to go box, the calamari doesn't look that crispy, which it wasn't. After eating a few pieces with my quinoa, I noticed that i wasn't tasting any pepper... What happened to the fucking pepper? There was barely any pepper visible in it.

Went here to start off my lazy Sunday with some good ass calamari but damn this experience was a huge let down...

Came here the other night because I had a late night Chinese food craving. They give you free milk tea, but I didn't drink mine because I don't care for it much, but more for my friend! LOL I ordered the beef satay chow mein which was REALLY bland, I had to add soy sauce and chili sauce to brighten up the dish a little. I also ordered the honey walnut prawns, which was divine! (: I loved it! The people were not so nice, just kind of take your order, give you your food and take your money and move along with their lives. I LOVE it because they stay open LATE! 3am! PERFECT place to go after clubbing or a night of drinking, because we all know that asian food tastes delicious when you're drunk! :) I would come back to try their mongolian beef with maybe white rice or fried rice this time, to see if there is any improvement, taste wise.

Gahh, this place is outta the cuts! Situated in a small plaza, where quite frankly, every restaurant looks similar in quality, China Palace caught my eye with the large amount of pictured dishes along the outside of the restaurant. Ventured in here cause strangely, most of the other restaurants in the plaza were closed. At 4 PM. Weird.

They have a $5.95 lunch special that my BF & I ordered offa', which includes one main item, rice and steamed vegetables. BF ordered Fried Chicken and Fried Beef, I ordered the Mongolian Chicken.

Mongolian Chicken was pretty good, a little lacking in the 'chicken' area, sadly. Fried chicken was pretty much Chicken Katsu, and I guess if it had a name, Beef Katsu. They gave heeelllaaa rice. Pretty much took up most of the plate.

Pretty much your average Chinese place, with average Chinese food, and average Chinese service. Oh and they give you free watered down milk tea with boba. Yipee!

3am CHINESE!!!! OMG I didnt even know this place had a name! I went here with my girlfriend probably a year ago and it was of course at 2am in the morning! I had no idea how we had gotten here only that this place was in a little plaza and there was hella people just kickin it at 2am!!! We had to wait for a table!!! What chinese restaurants do you know that are poppin' at 2am!

The food here is awesome! The restaurant recently updated the tables, chairs, and classed up their menu as well. They used to have pictures of every dish on their walls in sort of a food collage and you could just point  off the walls what you wanted to eat! My hole in the wall chinese  restaurant just has to have good food and im sold.

China Palace has three of my favorite dishes. Yang Chow fried rice, Spicy garlic chicken but get it boneless! and Salt and pepper pork chops!! OMG SOO FREAKING GOOD!!! the food is always HOT!!! which is a huge plus for me and it is soo tasty!!! If you are planning on hitting this place up late night make sure you go before 1am, and expect to wait if you are here past 1:30am.

Came here last night for dinner with my husband....we were craving inexpensive Chinese food.

I always get nervous eating here after seeing that horrible gang fight video on You Tube! But luckily we were seated AWAY from a window ;)

We ordered a side plate of steamed and fried buns that came with a side of condensed sweet milk to dip it in. Pretty good although I didn't really like the fried ones. I prefer the steamed buns with pork in them.

We ordered a steamed dish of lotus leaves with rice and pork. It was okay.....not the best I have. The pork was super salty!

We also got a clay pot with chicken and tofu and that was bland. I had to add hot sauce to it to give it any flavor.

Overall an okay place. They are open until 3am which is great if you are in the area and want a meal. Service was quick and we got a free milk tea. Cash only as well which is a bummer. Good thing we had cash with us last night!

I might be back but probably not on my own or a place I would recommend.

Great real Chinese food. It's a bit hard to order if you don't speak Chinese or are not familiar with the types of traditional dishes, so I highly recommend bringing your token Chinese buddy along or someone who understands the language. Don't worry about the Asian kids, go during the day time. All though, this place is open very late. More pros are that they give free pearl milk tea and they have exotic game. Go have a taste!

Oh, I forgot to mention, the place is cash only.

This place is not the tastiest  chinese food I've had but when it's late night and most other places are closed this is my go to place. It's open until 3am. The price is just right too. Most dishes are under $10 and the portion is pretty significant. My gf and I have been going here more often recently and we always have extra food by just ordering 3 dishes. The food comes out fast and service is well...what I would expect from a place just as this. Also, sometimes they give you coupons for a few bucks off the next time you visit. The coupons expires after two weeks. They give you free milk tea, sometimes with pearls but I don't really like it.

Come here late at night when you want your MSG fix. Order the salt and pepper ribs, sauteed string beans, and rice and your're set.

They also have fried  buns or rolls with condensed milk if you're craving it; Not to mention a zillion other things including exotic meats.

They give you $1 coupons for your next meal too, but who needs it when it's already so cheap.

I had the won ton noodles with duck and thought it was pretty good.  The won tons were cool, and the filling is quite different from what I'm used to.  I was kinda sad they only had like 3-4 pieces of won ton, however, they did make up for it with the duck.

Farm had the House special noodles and it was hella good.  The sauce was really good and had a nice touch of spiciness to it.

The menu is pretty vast with lots of options.  And they've got lunch specials.  Most plates avg about $5

I don't think they have the free milk tea anymore? or its only some times?

We came here for an inexpensive Chinese dinner.  We ordered:

1) Pork belly with preserved vegetables in a claypot. We did not like the red beancurd sauce because this is not how we usually make this dish
2) Bamboo Pith with Tender greens - This was good because it had the 'slurry' sauce.
3) Fried Salt and Pepper Squid. It's hard to find a good s&p squid place. The squid was alright.

Our dinner tab came to $28.  You do the math to see if it was worth it for a 3 entree meal with rice. The rice came in a huge bucket.

They served milk tea with boba (pearls).

The male waiter speaks English which is a plus because my mandarin is only so-so.

this place is not bad. it really depend what you orders.. some food are very yummy and some food are very soso~ but overall, this is a pretty decent chinese restaurant. They offer a lot variety of food.
I enjoy their basil chicken a lot. It's very yummy. Make sure to order it boneless, it is so much better w/o bone!
They also get you free pearl milktea... but the milktea is very soso.
If you won't know w\hat to order... they do offer pictures of some of the dishes outside on the window of the restuarant or on the wall or else do what I do, look over other tables and see what is good. =P
Overall~ I don't mind eating there.

my sisters and i were craving some chinese food so we stopped by here on a hot sunday afternoon.. BAD DECISION.  These are the reasons this place get one star:
  No AC
The staff aren't very friendly, in fact, I saw our waitress pick her nose TWICE! to make it even worse, she didn't even wash her hands after!!!
  It's really crowded and small
You won't really get service there... they just bring your food to the table and that's about it.

the only good thing, if that's even possible after seeing your waitress pick her nose twice, is that the food is cheap....

Fav lunch spot in Milpitas.  It's in the smaller shopping center next to the big Ranch 99 Asian fast food mall.  It is usually packed for lunch, so I try to hit off-peak, but totally worth it and pretty cheap.

They start you off with free bubble milk tea, which already adds a star.

I always get the black pepper beef with the lotus leaf rice.  The salt and pepper calamari, sesame pork chops, and sweet and sour chicken are all amazing.  Their side dish of "Chinese greens" is enormous and can feed a vegetarian volleyball team.  Clay pots are usually good too.  Disclosure - it is pretty heavy food, plan on massive food coma when you get back to the office...

They give you a $1 coupon for every $10 you spend, and it expires in two weeks, so keeps bringing you back!

How did this place get so many bad reviews? I think it's pretty decent, especially if you go before the crowds hit (aka 11 am).

My co-workers and I were seated right away. The complimentary milk tea is not bad at all, but the glasses in which they are served leave a little to be desired. There is hot tea available, too.

We had walnut prawns, salt and pepper pork, a basil chicken dish, green beans stir-fried with baby shrimp, and oysters in black bean sauce. Everything was really good, and the servers kept the rice coming at a pretty steady pace (there were 5 of us).

Of course I am loyal to my favorite Chinese joint in Hayward, but this is a pretty good substitute. I'd like to come back again and try some of the other, more authentic things on the menu!

Came here a few times and thought the overrall experiences was not too bad, I can't expect much from a place that opens till 3am. I'd be an unfriendly hag if I had to work till 3 like all the time.

Last weekend I came here for a late night meal and I will not be coming back for an oh so long time. So its like hmm 1 or 2am don't recall, the place is packed as normal but we did not have to wait too long to get seated.

I was looking forward to the complimentary milk tea...no complimentary milk tea :( No water even. Do not serve a drunk person hot tea.

We order some potstickers, the beef with the lotus leaf rice, and basil chicken.

The couple next to us got their food first when they were seated after us...I hate that, We finally get our food. Everything was decent except for the basil chicken...who serves chicken with little bones in it? It was absolutely disgusting...I never ordered a chicken dish where it wasn't chicken breast. We didn't even touch the entire plate. The beef rice in the lotus paper was alright....but wheres the beef?

The trip all the way from Downtown San Jose to Milpitas was such a waste, I am just gonna go to Iguanas from now on for all  my late night munchies.

this place makes me laugh.

everyone who comes here should know how rude and inattentive the workers are...but it happens all the time so when you become regulars here, you'll start to get used to the bad service. (don't know if that's good or not....)

but one thing that remains the same (besides the bad service haha) is the FOOD. it's soooooooo yummy and comes in great portions! it even tastes better because it's SO cheap and affordable. not only that, but this place is open late which is good for all the club hoppers or the parking lot pimpin at quickly haha.

i don't think there's anyone i know who dislikes this place. my bf loves the food, my best friend loves it too (and she is picky). they both love the honey walnut shrimp.....i never ordered that at all until i discovered it here^_^ YUM yum yum!!!!!!!

one thing i didn't really like (but normally LOVE) is the mongolian beef with broccoli. the beef isn't in thick slices like other places..it's kind of small and shredd-ish looking? i did like the OSTRICH though, haha. it's a little bit expensive compared to everything else (i believe 13-15$) and fun to eat because..i mean, when the hell do you get to eat ostrich? lol, honestly though, it just tastes like reg. beef=P just order the reg beef and save 7 bucks^_^

the place itself though, seems a little unsanitary....but screw it. i guess if you're hungry, you're hungry! and people usually come here late and DRUNK anyway so it doesn't matter. LOL i can't believe i set my standards so low after eating here......sigh.

funny story: the funny worker lady once chased down me and my friends because we forgot to tip. she came up to us and yelled out "TIP" with her hands laid out like a homeless. wow, i guess, haha.

4 stars because food= yummy (fave is wonton soup!)
-1 star because of the bad service......

This place is not bad, not bad. It's still living in the "cash only" days but the food is pretty good. Also they are open very late, like 3 AM! My favorite dish here so far is the Kong Xin Cai, it has just the right amount of garlic and their veggies are fresh and crunchy. My friend said she liked the bamboo shoots but did not like the peanut beef noodles, way too much sauce. They have what seems like a 100 items on the menu so we will be back to try some more eats eventually.

Excellent spot especially after you've had a few drinks somewhere. They're open late and the food is great. We had the salt and pepper fish, combination fried rice, snow peas and Mongolian beef. Everything on our table was delicious. Excellent service for close to midnight and the food came out quick. The only downside even though I should have expected it was that it was cash only.  I'm definitely coming back.

the food is alright...if you don't mind taking a fat shit 15 min later. service is HORRIBLE! seriously...im chinese too but does it hurt to treat your customers  little better? one time my friend didn't have change to give tips and the waitress wouldn't let him leave until he gave her tips! she made him break his $100 bill to give them tips. WTF right??? tips is optional! so because of that (and the rude service), my bf decided to not leave tips and the lady literally chased after us demanding her tips. my bf said he had no change and tips is optional and she got hella mad and went back in. hahaha kinda messed up but whatever man...they suck.
not going back ever again

This was my first time eating at this joint. Ive heard many things about this place, most of which were good with the menu, prices, and late night Chinese dining. My overall experience was pretty good but i was hoping this place was a bit bigger because it is really small. I think its best if you eat there with a group no bigger than 4.

My biggest problem with this place is that when we paid for the bill, the waitress came out and told us that tip was not included. Everyone already knows that gratuity and tip are included whenever there is a group more than 6 people. But she had the nerve to come running out the door and asking for a tip. I don't know about everyone else but i find that pretty rude and non ethical. As restaurants, you get whatever you get. No other restaurants would dare to ask for a tip because we already know how to tip and when to tip.

Overall this place was OK.

The food is decent, price is good, service is super horrible! The first time I came here, my bf and I ordered out so our meal was pretty quick. But the 2nd time i came here with my bf and 2 other friends, we wanted to eat in. We got a table quickly, but it was not cleaned up. There was a nasty spill under the table and sauces stuck to the table. We waited for the menus, but nothing. About 3 mins later, 2 people came in and they were given menus. 5 mins later a large party of about 10+ people came in and they got waited on. They got their menus and drinks. By then, we waited maybe 15-20 mins and we still didn't even get any sign of acknowledgment from the waitress. So we said f*** this, and left. We went to Top Cafe across the way instead, and it was really yummy there with great service.
