I love the china house food! (I can't eat the grill food because i can only eat a tiny amount at a time, but i am sure it is delicious too)

At first glance, this is just a very good Mongolian Grill - fresh, quality ingredients and a scrupulously clean grill make the food here better then some of the competition. For the uninitiated, the Mongolian Grill concept is a stir-fry version of a salad bar - pick the meats, vegetables and sauces you like best and the friendly chef will whip up a plate or two just the way you like it. (Tips accepted) If you have any interest in cooking, the choice of exactly how you want your lunch to come together is deliciously powerful.
However, if you only get the Grill, you're missing out on the best part of this place. China House has been Federal Way's top Szechuan Resteraunt for over twenty years, and their winning menu is still available for those who ask. Favorites like Mongolian Beef, Mu-shu Pork, Crispy Beef, and Hot and Sour soup come together to make a great sit-down family meal, available for dine-in or carry-out.
I can't say enough good things about this place - I grew up nearby and this was the family's favorite dinner out. I learned to use chopsticks here, and we made a point of always dragging visiting relatives to the China House so we could sit at the banquet tables with the nifty spinning tray in the middle. This place has always been the yardstick by which I judge all other Chinese food, and I've never had anyone top it. Maybe it's just my affection for the local flavor, but it really seems like they care more about quality then a lot of other Chinese resteraunts.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cath N.Federal Way, WA14484Jun 9, 2006First to Review
Mediocre??!! You must not have ordered right! Here's what to get and you won't go away disatisfied: Honey Walnut Prawns, Vegetarian or Chicken Egg Foo Yung and Chicken Chow Mein. Great food!
We were back there the other day and the prices have gone up and they were'nt quite as good as before. ;-(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Big A.Tacoma, WA203218Mar 12, 2011
I've been going to the China House for about 20 years. It has always been a great place for Chinese food & the owner has always been at the front counter every single time I have been. They have good service and great food! I love this place. If you don't go you are a bone head!

So happy this restaurant has reopened!! The interior is spruced up and bathrooms remodeled. The China House menu is still available in addition to the Mongolian grill so that made me happy.
The Chef's Special dinner is my fav. The Mongolian beef is THE BEST and no other place compares. Sizzling rice soup is the other item that keeps me coming back. I've been a patron for 30 years, followed this mom and pop through 3 moves and 1 name change. By far my favorite restaurant. If I could eat there every day I would.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A. J.Seattle, WA45423Jun 16, 2014
I think it's more a 3.5. I've been going here for yrs though and it's nice to have something close to the house and have it be consistent. Love the broccoli beef and the moo shu. Good egg flower soup too. Service is just okay.

I've been a customer here for 10 plus yrs and this place is a long way from what it use to be... I ordered the Mongolian beef to go like I always do and the portion was literally 30% of what it use to be!!! I paid $12 for 3 bites.. Stay away!!!!

I stopped in yesterday and the restaurant has been closed and the building is under construction. Anyone know if they moved elsewhere or have closed for good?

We have eaten here for over 20 years! The best thing on the menu is the pot stickers, you can't beat them. We were out of the county for two years and when we came home it was the first place we headed. They've changed locations a few times and now also have a mongolian grill so you have more choices. They also have a nice banquet room in he back if you ask to use it. The family that has owned it for the entire time is just wonderful. Very sweet people.
