I came to China Cafe with a friend about a month ago - she was adamant this was going to be a great place. Pulling into the parking lot of a strip mall made me question her assessment. I figured it would be another Chinese place bastardized with the cheap American style buffet line "Chinese" food. I'm happy to say I was completely wrong.
The service was outstanding as was the cleanliness of the restaurant. To be honest, it's some of the best Chinese I've had in a long while. The cucumber martini I had was delicious as well. I was initially leery of the prices, but again, that was more from me thinking that China Cafe is in a strip mall. The food is well worth the price.
Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone in Novi.
I used to go here often for lunch, for lack of a better chinese restaurant in the Novi area. The food is ok, nothing extraordinary. Pricing is moderate too.
The one thing that irks me is their service. The hostess (wife of the owner) seems to have a "Twinkie" complex. Unless you are white or asian, you don't get a good table and the food takes longer than usual. It's funny how the service is so much better whenever we take one of our american friends with us! So unless you fit the profile, try at your own risk... Btw, I have only gone there for lunch, so can't really comment on their dinner service.
I have never had a bad experience at China Cafe and I have been going there for almost 10 years. The staff knows much of their customers and you realize quickly that the reason is because the food is amazing and unique that they continue to return. The crab rangoon is better than any other that I have ever tasted. The bar is stocked well and the lighting is just right. There is even a TV in the bar area to catch up on the game. Incredible food, incredible atmosphere and wonderful staff.
*One thing I did not like 3 years ago was that they did not have a diaper changing station in the bathroom. Not sure if this is still the case though.
My friends and I would come here during high school and into college. It's been around for years and holds so many memories for me so it's fitting that it's also my 100th review here on Yelp! :)
The place is small and quiant with nice service. It has good food and it has a full bar with a separate dining area. It's located inside a strip mall but can be seen from the main road so parking isn't a problem and neither is finding it. I enjoy coming here and enjoy the consistency. :)
