Wow,
This place has amazing food. Being a personal chef, and self confessed food critic... ok everyone else will confess too!
The meat here was fantastic. Carlos, the owner, who has traveled the world knows his beef having had a restaurant in Argentina for years.
Now in the hustle and bustle of the Theater district is was welcome for us to find some HIGH QUALITY food along with the area's HIGH PRICES.
100% Organic, Grass-Fed Beef means that you could cut the 16oz ribeye we shared with a butter knife. Grass fed means that the cow was healthier and so is better for you.
From a taste perspective its fat isn't filled with toxins so the flavor is better... enough about the grass-fed beef....
This cute little restaurant was perfect for a romantic night out with my girlfriend, after we saw Phantom of the Opera we headed on over to get our steak fix in NY and boy were we satisfied.
I have eaten steak all over the world, at some super expensive places and in some of the most unique and this goes up there with some of my favorites.
The steak was cooked to perfection, the Chimichurri was also great. After my first taste of this from an Argentinean steak place and I started making this at home... Carlos didn't falter.
There were also a varied and creative list of other dishes and sides however I really recommend this if you are into steak and want it organic and 100% grass-fed.
There is no debate about which is better for your taste-buds, your stomach and for your body fat!
I love it when the owner is also the chef and I love it more when he or she comes out to discuss the menu with you, tell you about what inspired the dishes and share their passion for what they do with you... it someone makes the food taste all that much better!
Oh, and we also got a nice 15% off card for lunch after going. This place obviously survives from word of mouth and so look after their returning guests. Go, enjoy and then spread the word!
Having returned from Buenos Aires just over a month ago, we decided we were overdue for a re-visit to the cuisine. What did we spend a week doing in BA? Eating delicious meat and drinking delicious wine. And we did exactly that yet again last night.
Chimichurri is a small place with dim lighting and a very simple and cozy atmosphere. We ordered, on the recommendation of the waiter, a bottle of Malbec which turned out to be quite good. For dinner, we opted for the mixed grill of meats ($30/person). The chorizo, blood sausage and steaks were amazing, especially the short ribs (a discovery in Argentina that I can't believe I lived my life without up until that point). We had a side of fries which were quite good. The chimichurri sauce was fantastic, maybe better than most I had in BA. Service was great (the chef even came out to ensure all the patrons were enjoying their meals), prices were a bit high, but overall a quality, authentic Argentinian dining experience.
It's times like these that I wish I could rate service and food separately. We found ourselves at Chimichurri Grill one recent, cold afternoon to grab an early dinner with a friend. Being from the left coast and not familiar with the NYC restaurant scene I was eager to find a good venue through Yelp and was craving anything South American. Chimichurri sounded good enough - a little on the upscale side and a menu that sounded delicious. My expectations were high.
And while the food didn't disappoint - especially the empanadas which had amazing crusts and tasty fillings and the Churrasco Argentino and Vacío de Pergamino steaks which were good enough - I was really let down by the lackluster service. To give you an idea, we were the ONLY people at the restaurant on this particular Tuesday afternoon (4:30PM to be precise). One would think we would have received at least adequate attention and perhaps a little gratitude for our patronage but we received nothing but attitude, stink eyes, and inattentiveness.
From the first second we sat down we were subject to constant attempts of upselling - a strategy that restaurants rightfully employ all the time - but excessively and shamelessly used here. Not once were we checked on to see if we were enjoying our meal, instead we were abruptly asked if they good take our plates away when it was pretty obvious we were still eating. And upon our meals completion when we requested to have our leftovers wrapped we were surprised and a bit annoyed that all three of our seperate leftovers were combined into the same container. WTF?
Maybe all waiters secretly hate the clientele and I'm used to the waiters in Los Angeles who are all out-of-work or aspiring actors who can force a convincing smile, but I honestly felt like the staff and even the manager at Chimichurri did not even try to make us feel welcome.
I concede that it was early in evening, but I almost had the feeling that the waiters saw our presence as an annoyance; maybe they were hoping for more time to sit around and gossip. I would have rather been turned away at the door and told that they weren't ready for customers than to sit through our meal at Chimichurri.
And it's not that were were loud, obnoxious, under dressed, or cheap (with the help of a $60 bottle of wine we easily dropped close to $200 for three people). For the life of me I can't figure out why we were treated so terribly. I wrote it off as a NY thing, but have been assured by others that our experience wasn't typical.
I'll also concede that restaurant reviews are meaningless if they are taken out of context or written without considering relativity to other similar establishments. On that thought, I will say again the food was good and satisfied my desire for meat and South American spices/flavors. I'll also admit I have not tried any other South American restaurants in Manhattan so can't really compare Chimichurri to its competitors.
In a city, and even a neighborhood for that matter, with so many diverse dining options - I can say with certainty that I will not return to Chimichurri Grill. Dining is not just about the food; it's about the experience...and this was a terrible one. 99%of my Yelp reviews are positive, but this is one of the few instances when I was so let down that I felt the need to go out of my way to put my two cents in to help others steer away from a similar dining disaster.
I would've given this place 4 stars but I don't know exactly what makes this place 'Argentinean'. Maybe it's the few menu items like empanadas that make this place 'Argentinean'.
We had the empanadas, rib eye, skirt steack, burnt cauliflower and polenta fries. Everything was good. There was nothing spectacular about this place.
It was just 'A-OK'.
Tiny little place, but great food. The amount of fur-lined objects in the place is amazing: the barseats, the mirror above the bar. I think the menus are even fur-coated. Interesting.
The service is friendly, though seemed a bit distracted. While the waiter was explaining the specials, his phone rang. He actually picked it up, looked up as if he was actually thinking about taking the call, then put it back in his pocket to continue the specials.
Appetizers:
Empanadas - excellent, try the one with swiss chard
Chorizo - fantastic, all three types
Polenta - delicious
Entree:
Churrasco Argentino - tasty, though the filet was a little tough, but the sauce was good.
They have a great selection of wines and desserts to finish the meal. Definitely left the place in a food coma. Which is a good thing, most of the time.
When you're staying in Hell's Kitchen on business walking north on 9th Ave and not very hopeful of finding something decent to eat at 8pm after walking past the abomination that is the Port Authority Bus Terminal and you walk by a small restaurant (Chimichurri Grill), sneak a peak at the menu and the hopeful chef standing at the bar, and decide "Why not?", you're typically going to be underwhelmed. Usually.
Definitely not the case with the CG. What a find in this neighborhood. The service, the food, even the cozy space were all excellent. Let's start with the chef. We had a question about one of the appetizers and he came out, told us about it, and then suggested alternatives once he figured out what we liked. He exuded enthusiasm for his craft and his recommendations were spot on.
The mushroom soup, the appetizers (polenta fries with blue cheese sauce and sweet breads), the steak salad, and the fish (wow, talk about perfectly grilled and seasoned) were all cooked and seasoned perfectly. The desserts were good, but nothing memorable.
What really stood out were the flavors of the appetizers and mains. Lots of pop. I'll definitely be returning.
Is not being able to pay for your website domain a new sign of the recession? I hope not. Chimichurri Grill's website has a bleak lifeless memo: balance due, please pay. I hope Chimichurri Grill is not in danger of closing. It's a classy place; a place where you can bring a date, have a celebration and eat a decent steak. It is certainly not a dine and ditch restaurant.
There are a few questions that are pivotal in getting to know the one you're with. How do you like your eggs? How do you take your coffee? What side of the bed do you sleep on? Just to list a few. During dinner one of these questions came up. How do you like your meat?
Dddd dddd dddddddah!!! Drum roll please.
Well done. Okay, not too well done. A little pink is okay. But not bloody. You? Rare. Bloody rare. Oh my God. Are we incompatible? Can we compromise? In case you didn't know, I'm the one who likes my meat served mooing on the table. I'm a big fan of tartare. I prefer my meat with the flavor and juice that overcooking tends to kill off. This conversation happened in front of the waiter. It was quite comical. After deciding what we would order and implying we would share anyway, we had to decide how our meat was going to be served.
Dddd dddd dddddddah!!! Drum roll please.
Medium. Plus! Still pink but not too bloody. Tender. You can now order meats plus! It's a little bit more than the previous but also less than the next degree. Happy medium. We can now live in harmony.
We also ordered the beef and chicken empanadas as an appetizer. Cheese/vegetarian option was offered but we went for the carnivorous options. The empanadas were served with a green and red chimichurri sauce. One was more spicier than the other and we made a joke to mix them both to have a sauce plus.
The empanadas were good but our steaks were even better. We had one Churrasco Argentino and one special of the day (the rib eye). The Churrasco Argentino was a thinly pounded filet mignon with a side of field greens. The rib eye was immense and also served with field greens. The salad had a light creamy dressing and I found it really tasty. The salad wasn't oily or dry. It was perfect. The steaks were served with the option of eating it with the chimichurri sauces or dry. They were tasty enough without the sauces. I, however, didn't mind pouring on the chimichurri sauce. As for the degree of cooking? A perfect compromise between two who like meat on opposite sides of the spectrum.
Our dishes were served on huge butcher blocks/cutting boards. One of the blocks had a crack down the middle. At the end of the meal when the server cleared our table, we saw that the juices had dripped through and stained the table cloth. That's how juicy the steaks were. They were also ample servings. We were not able to finish them completely.
Chimichurri Grill is a small spot in the theater district. The tables are squished together and at one point when the woman behind me sat down, her seat pushed against mine and catapulted me forward right into the table closer to my manny. I couldn't breathe! Small and really cozy is how I would describe Chimichurri Grill. It also gets very dark at night. It feels almost gothic. Enjoy your meal by candle light and with a nice glass of Spanish wine. You will not be disappointed.
Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey
Chim chim cher-MOO!
Chimichurri is yummy, as yummy can be!
Rarely does food make me want to break out in song. Chimichurri obviously put my musical notes in motion, not to mention a rave review.
Argentinean cuisine is all about la vaca (cow), and Chimichurri expertly showcases a variety of cuts (pounded filet mignon, rib-eye, skirt) with that special Argentine twang. If you're obsessed with chimichurri sauce like me, go for the filet, as it is smothered in the green goodness.
The Grill offers excellent specials each night, so be sure to hear those before you choose. From the specials menu I ordered the grilled bass as an entree, which is some of the best fish I've had save for my fisherman father's. It was so juicy and beautifully seasoned, served with plump, grilled asparagus, and a few grilled potatoes which were a bit dry. I also ordered the gazpacho, which unlike other versions of the soup that I've had, incorporated minced vegetables and a jalapeno spiciness. To balance the spicy, the soup was served with a dollop of cranberry orange sorbet, and contrary to the oddness of the idea it was perfect.
Other great appetizers you must have are the empanadas! The sweet corn and swiss chard with manchego cheese varieties are incredible. I don't think I'll be able to return to the Grill without ordering them again. If they are serving ravioli's, I suggest getting those, too, because it's not often that raviolis melt in your mouth like these do. One plate of them were quite enough for four people.
For desert, both the lavender-infused flan and the caramelized crepes filled with dulce de leche were excellent choices. The flan was the lighter dessert of the two if you're feeling full after all of your first courses.
Lastly, the Grill serves up a special martini that, like the gazpacho, has a dollop of fruit sorbet floating in the alcohol. The idea is that the sorbet melts as you sip, and at the end (if you haven't gobbled up all of the sorbet) have a sweet treat. I like that having this beverage before my meal didn't made me feel like I was ruining it as some may see it as eating dessert first.
And very lastly, the atmosphere of Chimichurri Grill's new location is clean and relaxing. I love the window table and looking out at all of the passer's by, but any table is good when you're eating such a gourmet spread.
Mooooove on over, La Zarza (only other Argentinean spot I've been to in the city), Chimichurri Grill has stolen my heart and they didn't even have to sprinkle rose petals anywhere.
Food: The entranas are really good. The sides are great too. We got a bottle of pinot noir from Patagonia, loved it.
Decor: quite nice since they moved to the over side of 9th av. Small restaurant but you don't feel you're packed next too another table.
Service: is ok. Though because we're french they automatically added the tip, a bit annoying, but we're used to it i guess.
Overall: Food is great, not too expensive for a steak place. Great place for a date or nice talks without having to shout.
Tiny restaurant with a classy upscale feel. The menu is not extensive and centers around red meat although there is a little bit of everything. Wine list is rather average but they do carry some delicious Malbec wine from Argentina which I would highly recommend.
Service was excellent, and the food was also delicious. I tried the rib eye which wasn't cheap but was certainly flavorful and beautifully cooked. Empanadas came with the house chimichurri sauce and a green parsley sauce, both were tasty. We also had an order of fries which were outstanding, crispy and doused with garlic and chives.
Overall I was very pleased with the experience, and the bathroom was probably the coolest restroom I've ever been in- no lie. The food although Argentine was not anything I haven't had before except for the chimichurri sauce, which was a little disappointing as I was looking forward to something a little more adventurous. All that aside the Chimichurri Grill is definitely a great spot.
I am a sucker for chimichurri. I am that girl in the Trader Joe's 15-items-or-less line holding two or three bags of chimichurri rice in my basket. I also love churrascarias where I can devour an endless stream of red meat to my heart's content. And maybe a chicken too if bacon is involved.
Having previously spent hours at Plataforma in a forgivingly loose tunic dress, Chimichurri Grill is basically a cozy, wood-paneled miniature indulgence in all of the aforementioned cravings at once. It's not perfectly authentic, but they do prepare their grilled meats well here -- seasoned and not at all dry. Plus a little Manchego cheese at the end only makes it that much better...
This is a small restaurant that can get packed during busy Broadway show nights. The staff is very friendly and catering; except for the old female owner who's a bit snappy and grumpy.
I came here with some family members with Argentinian roots, and we were all satisfied with the quality of the meat.
You can't go wrong with the asado de tiras (grilled short ribs) with a glass of red Malbec wine (get the Fabre Montmayou).
My friend and I settled on this place for our pre-theater dinner. I read all of the reviews and was prepared for a "small space", but was still surprised as to exactly how small it was. It had about 12 tables, down a narrow hallway. The bathroom had no space for someone to turn around in there. I'm petite, so I had enough room, but I couldn't imagine a 6' tall woman trying to use the restroom there. Her knees would touch the door. Yuck!
But on to better things...the food. The menu looked good, but the specials sounded even better. We ordered the grilled calamari and was pleasantly surprised by the offering. It was lightly grilled, so as to not make it tough and was dressed very lightly with some balsamic. Yum. Then I had the fish of the day, which was something I can't pronounce, but it was the whole fish, de-boned, served on a plate. I was expecting something on the larger side, but was happy with a trout-sized fish was presented. Mind you, the fish head was displayed in all its glory, so I had to turn mine away from me so I didn't feel like it was watching me eat it.
My friend had the housemade ravioli with goat cheese and that was nicely done. Odd that an Argentinean place would have housemade ravioli, but whatev. It was good.
I would absolutely recommend this place for a pre-theater dinner, although, you definitely need to stay on top of the time yourself, and make sure the staff knows you have a show to go to. Otherwise, they'll take their time and you'll miss the curtain.
What is Argentinian food? I couldn't tell exactly. In retrospect, I should have asked for recommendations from the waiter ... but I was distracted. Overall, it's a cute place, small and intimate. From my uneducated understanding of Argentinian food, it seems to center around alot of red meat, and chimichurri sauce, and shockingly enough ... ravioli and french fries?
The waiter was extra pushy for us to order those "famous" fries ... not sure how they added to the meal, but I don't love a pushy waiter.
Empan...aaaahhhh...das!
We took our kids (13 and 10) on the last night of their very first NYC trip. What a great way to end our vacation! Skirt steak, lamb chops, rib eye....what else can I say? They were all to die for!
Chimichurri Grill does seem to be a bit of a well-kept secret in the Theater District. It's very small but I've never seen it packed to capacity, even during the pre-show rush, and that's generally when I've eaten here. If you get here early enough (6-6:30pm), you'll practically have the place to yourselves.
Everything I've ever ordered here has been very succulent and flavorful, veering towards the spicy side. The grilled langostines have a real kick to them, and you'll be grateful for the mango chutney they serve it with. The steak dishes are well-portioned, so you can get your meat fix without going into a meat coma. Oh, and I agree that the fries are great - crispy and perfectly well-seasoned!
Chimichurri Grill is a great alternative to all the huge touristy dining spots in the Theater District. Come here to enliven your taste buds and fill your belly, then go and enjoy your show.
If you're looking for a nice steak, this is the place to go.
I chose to have the hangar steak, and I'm glad I did so. It came with a wonderful selection of sauces, not that it needed any. The meat was already tastefully and elegantly spiced, tender and juicy.
The dessert, a nice mango sorbet, was unbeLIEVAble. Didn't realize steakhouses could have such great sorbet.
The tables are extremely close together, and at first, my date and I were a little bit uncomfortable by the close proximity of the other guests, but, little did we know, that once the dinner got going, we were so engrossed in our food and our own good times, that we completely forgot about the other people.
Great place!
We started off with a bottle of Rutini and ordered empanada appetizers. Our steaks were perfect and the chimichurri was creamy, not oily. My friend ordered hongos which were delicious as well (even though I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms). Topped off the meal with espressos, cappuccinos, and dulce de leche creme brulee.
I didn't realize we were there for so long. We walked in at 7, and left at 10. The waiters were very attentive and never rushed us. 'Twas a perfect birthday dinner. Def. going back.
Don't cry for me Argentina! Oh how I miss Buenos Aires. Wonderful people, amazing colorful city with fantastic food.
Chimichurri is a tiny little reminder of our trip to B.A. Empanadas are delicious. Great steaks. Sides? French fries that you can't stop eating, and the creamed swiss chard is heavenly. They serve a large variety of Argentine dishes. Everything from steaks, shrimp, chicken to pasta, lamb & sweetbreads. The desserts always look tempting but we're always too full to order some. They also have some great wines.
We've been going here for years and have never had a bad experience....ok well once we saw the owner nearly beat up some guy and throw him out of the restaurant. I think he ate & couldn't pay. So make sure you don't leave your wallet at home!
Wow I could have sworn i reviewed this already.
Okay....if you are interested in trying Argentine food, there are dozens of better places to go in Manhattan, Astoria and even NJ.
Chimichurri was among the first few Argentine restaurants to open in NY so I had high hopes. But it turned out to be some kind of an attempt to please an American tastebud with things on the menu that sound argentine. Or maybe an attempt by someone who didnt know much about Argentine food to create an argentine restaurant based on a cookbook.
The steaks were very disappointing, and the rest of the food, while not awful, didnt taste argentine at all. Sure they have chorizo and morcilla on the menu but it didnt look or taste anything like what i've had in other argentine restaurants both here and in Bs. As.
Overall a huge disappointment. Look elsewhere.
How to impress your boss & her colleagues - Step 1, look up a restaurant on Yelp. Then sit back and bask in the praise that is lavished upon you - especially given that said boss is a native & you're just a transplant! Oh, Yelp, you'll never know just how much you've helped me out. Thank you, to infinity and beyond!
Now down to the dinner details - a lovely little place, quite cozy with attentive service. It's not overly "hip" or relentlessly trendy - it's just what it is - a small, delicious little latin american grill. The empanadas were unique and fried to perfection - no limp, tasteless pastries here. The steaks were cooked just right, and I've never seen a full table of dinner guests actually clean their plates. Some went so far as to wipe the remaining sauces off their plates with bread.... not a behaviour you often see in NY! And the fries - oh, the fries... so delicious and salty, we could have ordered another basket. The wine was pleasent, and we were out of there in plenty of time to make it to the theater. Although I think we could have just as easily sat and eaten more, and more, and more!
Running late to a reservation for your best friend's birthday dinner is not fun. Arriving in a bicycle two man cart through Times freaking Square carrying luggage bags with a crazy pedal guy who makes you high five him six times at the end because you gave him a little extra tip for not killing you while literally weaving in and out of traffic infront of this not so great looking on the outside place is also fun but not so fun. Stepping into a quaint little Paris bistro like Argentinan restaurant is definitely fun. Warmly lit candles, spotless table cloths, smiling waiters and real silver (so light!) made this "grill" into something much more special.
Skirt steak is our thing.. especially with that flavorful chimichurri+garlic.. not much of any sauce dipping kind of person but we always traveled to the ghettos of Junction to get a taste of theirs.. this time we opted for Hell's kitchen. You've all probably passed by this joint.. whether coming from a party or on the chinatown bus to get to penn station.
Their swiss chard empanadas were to die for. (Who does that??)
Serious melt on tongue Entraa (skirt steak served with kept in original long form scallions) . Best Hongos (sauteed portobello mushrooms).. I usually just eat but I was left pondering how everything was cooked so perfectly. Friend said they heard the kitchen pounding on the meat before I walked in.. maybe that's why.
Order a bottle of red, listen to ALL the french people chatter (they all migrated here this particular night) and remember all the great meals you've ever had.. especially here. Gat damn.
I've walked past this place a million times because it looks so unobtrusive and unexciting from the outside and it was only after looking for a nearby steakhouse on this website that I found it.
So - the food was really delicious, empanadas were delish and my steak to die for. Fries were gorgeous but a touch too garlic-y. Really attentive helpful waiting staff.
Only criticism was the decor - it's not very special inside and I feel they could do the lighting better ot make it cosier - it's a bit "spotlight-y" at the moment. Still, that wouldn't stop me going back to try and eat half a cow again.
We were wondering around the city looking for a place and a buddy of mine got on his phone and looked up some spots on Yelp in the area and we settled on Chimichurri.
We walked it to a small restaurant with about 12 white clothed tables . Very quaint and cozy. Felt a little odd for a few minutes as it seemed very intimate and date-like. But after the waiter came over we were made to feel right at home.
I wish I could remember what wine we ordered, but it was good enough for us to order a second and keep us there for a couple hours.
To start off we had the fresh clams and shrimp. Both were fantastic. The clams were plentiful enough for the 3 of us to enjoy. The shrimp dish only included 4 medium sized shrimp. They were great, the portion was just relatively small.
I ended up ordering the Short Ribs for dinner and they were good. A little fattier that I expected, but still good quality. I wasn't a fan of the beets that accompanied the dish, but I am not a big beet fan to begin with.
All three of us seemed to really enjoy the food. One of my buddies order the trout (special of the day) and said it was to die for.
If you are looking for something low-key, possibly a good date night or quite business dinner I would definitely recommend this place
I was pretty excited to check out this place based on the reviews here. The food was excellent, I had the hangar steak with burnt cauliflower and the beef empanadas as an appetizer were delicious. The fillet mignon was also great, as was the shell steak.
My only complaint is that the service was somewhat lacking, no one really paid attention to our table and we had to ask several times until some of our sides were finally brought to us.
I meant to write this sooner, oh well here goes...
We walked past Chimichurri Grill on a much-needed stroll after eating at Won Dee Siam recently. It didn't have curb -appeal but somehow it looked promising, so we made reservations for the following week. Good thing we made reservations, this place is "cozy," and we seemed to have arrived with the pre-theatre herd. We were promptly seated by the window which gave us the advantageous position of hearing the reservationless turned away, this place must be good, we thought.
...And it was. The empanada specials that day were swiss chard and manchego and a pork empanada. They were delicious! Not at all greasy and perfectly hot and crusty...I just thought for $4 a piece they would give us at least 2 of each (sorry folks, just one). That didn't matter so much because I ordered the churrasco which is more food than I should have consumed....but it was sooo effin' good, I couldn't resist eating it all just to keep those flavors going in my mouth. The chimichurri was outstanding - we also mixed the spicy and the regular chimi (which also made for a great dressing for my side of greens). The fries are fantastic (if its just 2 of you, no need to order the large, the small is adequate enough). Our waiter was great, he recommended an excellent Malbec (the name escapes me now) and it seemed that he knew when we were taking our last sips because he was quick to refill each time. Minus a star because we had to wait on a dulce de leche crepe that took forever and a day (about 25 minutes after ordering it). Come on, there is no way a crepe takes THAT long but he was apologetic and we were wine-happy and full so it was cool.
A wonderful restaurant near the tourist-trap filled theater district. Great steak at reasonable prices. (About $18 for hanger steak.) It's a tiny place, so don't expect seating for more than four. I was a bit surprised how empty it was given the quality of the food. We were the only ones there when we sat down around noon on a rainy Saturday.
We eat here at least twice a month and have NEVER been disappointed. The restaurant is cozy and romantic, the service attentive and professional and the food is phenomenal. Everyone we bring here loves it and return again and again.
The steaks are simply marvelous! We ate in after a Sunday Matinee On Broadway - it was a delightful way to end the day. The restaurant is a bit small but the food and service more than make up!
This is my favorite restaurant for steak. They make the worlds best french fries too
Chimichurri is one place I will trek over to the Theater District for! Located in a tiny (very tiny!) alcove off of 9th Ave, this delicious Argentine restaurant is a a slightly classier version of my favorite Buenos Aires in the East Village. The steak was fantastic, and cooked perfectly to my liking. I had the Vacio de Pergamino (hanger steak) with coliflores quemadas (aka "burnt" cauliflower). The cauliflower was wonderful off the grill and added a nice light touch to the steak. The chimichurri sauce here is slightly too oily (but I'm very picky! Its not quite up to par with others I have had but still very delicious), but has a great authentic flavor. Extensive wine list is a plus, but glasses are a bit overpriced. I highly recommend ordering the acelgas (swiss chard) as a side - it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I wanted to try the batatas (white sweet potatoes) but they were out of it the night we went - a great excuse to go back! Dulce de Leche creme brulee was fantastic, and my dining companions enjoyed the Lavender infused flan and dulce de leche crepes. I would definitely recommend this as a date place, as it is tiny - don't expect to bring a group of more than 4 or you won't fit - and has a romantic atmosphere.
Warm and wonderful - get the ancho if it's on special. Trust the owner to set you up with an awesome malbec to wash all that meat down... Great date spot, spare them the headache of trying to accomodate parties larger than four unless you make advance arrangements. You'll wait forever & pity them the super lengths they'll go to squeeze you in....
