In the world of YELP, where it's considered verboten to write reviews for chain stores, that's right, here I go again. I've reviewed Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar and it seems only fair, Chilli's gets it's due.
I've eaten (drank) here some 6 times, not because I think it's great, but it has become the watering hole where certain mammals I hang with like to meet. I'd say the 2-for-1's from the bar are the major draw. Not a bad ploy on Chilli's part, but most foods are just unimpressive. We have befriended several of their wait staff to the point they almost know what we want when we arrive. Actually, one of them has no idea want I'm wanting when she takes my order, but I won't go there. Back to the eats...
1 Star- BOTTOMLESS TOSTADA CHIPS and SALSA ($2.99) - Never order this, it's complementary with drinks. A devious menu item.
3 Stars - SALSA AND CHIPS - They are FREE and the Salsa is great for the price.
1 Star - SKILLET QUESO - not a deal at $5.00.
3 Stars - SOUTHWESTERN EGG ROLLS - One of the best things here.
2 Stars - BONELESS BUFFALO WINGS - Always seem a little tough.
2 Stars - CAESAR SALAD with Spicy Garlic & Lime Grilled Shrimp. Twice, I've been served this SALAD on a HOT plate. What are the cooks thinking? But I order it because I love the shrimp.
2 Stars - BAKED POTATO SOUP - Not thick enough, too thin.
3 Stars - BABY BACKS - Not bad, but who screws them up. The Honey BBQ sauce is over the top sweet, avoid it.
3 Stars - BIG MOUTH BURGERS - They are all pretty good.
1 Star - CHICKEN CLUB TACOS - Not much meat, not tasty, the word I heard was nasty. They were sent back.
3 Stars - KIDS MENU - Good selection, but a little pricey
4 Stars - DRINKS FROM THE BAR - Somewhat inconsistent but they correct upon request. A little less expensive than Applebee's though.
They call it a Bar and Grill but it's mostly a Bar to me. If you pepper in some fun when you go, it's not so bad, but I'd rather do my nibbling at other drinking holes.
