14 reviews for Chili's
Halloween dinner at Chili's? Why?!?! Probably cause there was a wait everywhere else and they still had the 2 for $20 deal going on...and beer stand was outside to distract us from the 30 minute wait...
6 people, 3 couples. Service was slow due to the craziness, but they came around. Skillet queso = yuck, cajun chicken pasta = spicy chicken, not-hot pasta (we ordered 3 cajun chicken pastas at the table), molten chocolate cake = only saving grace.
Beers inside were 2 for 1...so that help to pass time as our waitress came by...every 30 minutes?? During the time I was there, plates were being dropped left and right. For a second there, I thought I was in a Greek restaurant!
Why do I bother to give Chili's a chance? I hated it from long time ago..and I remember why now.
Tip-bits:
Better American Chain restaurants in the same plaza
Go if you are a cheap date
I had my reservations about eating here last night after all that I read from previous reviews but my friend insisted we go out and have their 3 for $20 deal. What can I say? I had a great time.
Okay, what I was dreading... the service. Our waittress was very good, she was very friendly, efficient, and accomodating. I don't remember a server being so genuinely friendly and efficient in South Florida. Our meals and drinks arrived pretty quickly and at a good pace. Mind you this was a Friday night. But it didn't seem too busy. It was service with a smile the whole way. We hit the jackpot there.
The food was good, had the battered onions and jalapenos, tasted a lot like tempura, those very yummy... my sinuses were cleared after a few bites! The ribs and mashed potatoes were also very good. We didn't know it but drinks were 2 for 1, so that was a pleasant surprise. We each had a strawberry mojito and a beer. We couldn't finish our meal so we took it home along with the cheesecake which I had this morning, the cheesecake with raspberry sauce went down very well for breakfast this morning.
Is this place worthy of 5 stars? On this night they did. Granted, it's not gourmet food but we had great service, food was pretty good, the place seemed pretty clean, our bill came up to $35 bucks with drinks. Great value. Not bad. Let's see how they do again in the future.
Unlike Michael C, I've actually traveled UP from the world of Denny's and IHOP reviews over the past couple of weeks to the fine cuisine of Chili's - fair warning that this comes not from the finest of reviewers...
Fajitas were pretty good, it helped to add xtra shrimp and since Mr LaLotto & I split the dish, I must commend the waiter for bringing 2 plates of pico de gallo, cheese and more tortillas. The taste was somewhat offset by the fishy-smelling tilapia Mrs. Piggipoo ordered, tho she seemed to like it.
We also split Piggipoo's neglected leftover Big Bite burger - poor lonely thing. It was rather bland, could've used a Prozac or two.
Drinks were 2 for 1 on a Sunday night much to our surprise, which made the overall experience a bit more palatable. But all in all I'd opt for a good plastic breakfast over Chilis anytime.
Have to start by saying that I'm not a Chili's fan, so it already starts with less than 5 stars. Why I came here then? My coworkers and I were in Miami for a work event. After being there for hours we were all extremely thirsty and hungry. This was near and the place they all agree on.
We were seated fast but it took a while for our waitress, Crisitna, to get our drink order. We were at that point almost desperate for water. Finally she came by, asked us what we would like, without taking notes... when she got the last order, had to start again this time writing it down. To all this her facial expression or tone wasn't friendly either, just bland. We got our drinks and thankfully our food didn't take long. Food wasn't bad but it did not change my mind about this chain of restaurants either.
How can you not love Chili's? I think people are afraid to give it a high rating because they want to appear sophisticated and elite. oooooh, thats right. It's always happy hour at Chili's. Two-for-one margaratias? Yes please. Draught beer and well drinks are also 2-for-1. Always. Sure, they could just put both drinks in a bigger container for the same price, but who doesn't like getting two things for the price of one? Another key to Chili's is the bottomless salsa and chips. Having these to munch on makes the moderate wait for food so much more enjoyable. Love the food there. Great burgers, good sized. The wait staff was extremely patient with the dumb-asses I was at dinner with. Loved it.
Cold corn, other food was OK, service was nice. Expensive parking.....$7 to park just for an hour at dinner. Waitress told us the receipt from Chili's would allow us to park for free...but the cashier in the garage said it was only for lunch. Will not be going back here.
Also it was very loud....could not talk with the person in front of me. Better choices out there.
Went to the grove for the screening of "I Love You, Man" - super funny btw - must see. Anyway, I noticed a new Chili's had opened just above The Cheesecake Factory - now it may have been there a while, but I hadn't been to the Grove in ages.
After the movie my gf and I decided to stop in for some drinks and to share an appetizer. We walked in and the place was empty, in a nice kinda way. A table here and there was occupied. The evening breeze was great, so we asked to be seated outside. Most patrons felt the same way b/c most tables outside were full - great ambiance. Not your typical Chili's crowd - the only other Chili's I've been to in Miami is the one on Galloway, which is always too packed, and usually has a wait.
Here we were seated right away. The waitress took a bit to bring the drinks, and food came out at normal time. We shared the appetizer sampler - typical Chilly's food, so not much to comment on there. But overall a really great time tonight. The outside seating was great, the noise level was perfect, the food warm, and the waitress was pretty nice.
Ehhh... The first time I came here (maybe end of July/beginning of August) we had the WORST service EVER. Our waiter FORGOT to put in our dinner order and when we were finished with our appetizer he kept looking at us funny. So I finally asked him where our meal was and he looked SHOCKED! I thougth i'd never come back. If it wasn't for the beer, I may have actually thrown something at him...
So fast forward, went back on Friday night. The service was better, and our waiter was actually interesting and witty. The food was really good, which was surprising to me. I ordered a grilled salmon that just melted in your mouth!!! So good. :) My friend had the sizzling fajita trio thing that was really, really tasty as well. Oh and it happened to still be 2 for 1 happy hour at that time, so that's always nice. But they brought out both drinks at the same time (logic anyone?!?!) and I was forced to chug my 2 beers before the meal even arrived...
All in all, it was a decent experience. So for an average rating of my combined experiences, they get a 3. :)
Oh and what are the chances that the waiter who ruined my first time there was the person that brought out our food?!?! LOL He totally recognized us too and went pale...
I've been back to this Chili's several times since the opening, it's still has not improved.
Everyone still seemed confused...
- the hostess couldn't decide where to seat us when the whole restaurant was empty
- We asked for separate checks, it didn't happen
- when we finally got the separate checks and wrapped out individual credit card with the individual receipt, they charged the wrong item on the wrong credit card
They really need to step it up...

The beginning stolen from Ramon...hehe
So after drinking cocktails and eating appetizers on the roof a nearby hotel we decided we needed a little more than carrots and brocolli. We all walked over to the Chilis in the Grove.
Not going to comment on my drink because the server was confused, don't know if it was me or he just didn't hear me after I changed my mind.
So I had the grill chicken sandwich, let said I only got half portion of the chicken and a load of bread! I didn't make a fuzz because I was starving!
I know we are also in a recession and everyone is cutting cost and everyone is doing their part on eating healthier, smaller portions.
My point of view is if you're going to cut the portion at least cut the portion of bread as well so we could even it out.
So after drinking cocktails and eating appetizers on the roof a nearby hotel we decided we needed a little more than carrots and brocolli. We all walked over to the Chilis in the Grove. I hadn't been to a Chilis in ages , but I do remember them having a pretty good burger. I ordered the Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon burger medium. Burger comes out fine , but the bacon is probably some of the worst I've had ever. The burger was properly cooked at least and the Jalapenos (my current favorite thing to put on just about anything) made up for the failure in the bacon. My Blackberry tea which is usually so sweet that you have a head rush was about as lame as that flavored water stuff. My companions more than made up for the bacon failure , but I am not in an hurry to return to Chilis.
What can ya say about this place...It's a Chili's, they're all pretty standard, all locations have the same menu and the staff is generally overworked and underpaid. I've only been to this location once, the food was good and pretty much what I expected (again, same stuff at all their locations, right?) but what put a smile on my face here was the 2 for 1 drink special they had late on the Saturday night when we stopped here (about 12:30 a.m.). Between 3 of us we had a total of 4 beers and 2 Margueritas and the drink tab was something like $16. Not bad!
My wife recently received a Chili's gift card so we went to try out the new Chili's in Coconut Grove. While the food is typical of most Chili's type restaurants, the service is typical of Chili's. Unfortunately, the restaurant is understaffed, which means you don't get a lot of attention. Other than slow service, it's OK. I won't be visiting this Chili's again anytime soon.
I went to this Chili's about a month ago. I'm a Chili's fan, I dont know why, but i dont really like this one. I guess it was just the bad service, our waiter disappeared for about 15 minutes, later he came back apologizing, he said that someone got really drunk and he had to take them to a cab.Aside from the fact that he disappeared he forgot to give us silver ware, and he was jus MIA the entire time, it was like playing a game of where's Waldo.
