Nothing say's I love you more than a visit to Chicos tacos!
When I would visit my family throughout the years, the first thing I'd do when I got off of the plane would be head straight for Chicos!
This is the EL PASO EXPERIENCE. A legend in it's oown right.

Chico's is a staple of El Paso. Super cheap rolled tacos that by themselves are nothing special. Just run of the mill ground beef in a hard corn tortilla topped with shredded cheese.

But their sauce is what makes it so delicious. It's greasy and cheap, but oh so good.

I no longer live in El Paso, but whenever I'm back in town I make sure to go to Chico's.

I used to eat here when I was in high school. I loved it as a teenager...but what happened?

Typical teenager order: triple extra cheese, dry, sauce on the side and fries. Decoded: triple order of tacos (3 to an order, total of nine "taquitos") with extra cheese and salsa on the side. Once you receive it, you pour salsa to your liking on the order. I really loved this place.

That was 30 years ago. Last time I went in, I ordered that exact same order. The taquitos were tasteless. The salsa was mostly water with floating bits of tomato skin, seeds and nothing that resembled chile.

I'm terribly sorry, but Chico's isn't anything like I remember it to be!

I did have a chili dog (a hot dog, split down the middle and grilled "open") served on a hamburger bun. This was actually quite good.

Does anyone else think that the fries taste like the old ice that you scraped out of the back of the freezer? None of my El Paso friends like Chico's anymore. They agree - Chico's just isn't what it used to be.

I guess when you're so ripped you're sipping bong-water (and have the munchies), you'll eat just about anything! ;)
