Crab Fries and Yuengling are as good here as they are at the stand alone locations. Not sure what more you're looking for from Chickie's & Pete's in the Airport.

If you're from out of town and have never had Crab Fries & Yuengling I highly recommend grabbing some before your flight.

SALTY.  They might as well just serve salt licks here.

I had a layover and thought to grab some food to go.  Huge mistake to stop at Chickie's and Pete's.  Everything here is salt overload up the wazoo.  If you want to toss out most of what you buy or if you suffer from extreme salt deficiency, go here for sure.

The crab fries were inedible because whatever seasoning they use is 99% salt.  The cheesesteak was dry and salty.  After two bites of the cheesesteak and a few nibbles of fries, I tossed it all and bought a sandwich and large drink (a must after the attempt to overwhelm me by sodium overdose) over at Chick-Fil-A.  At least there were no surprises there.

I heard about the crab fries, so I ordered those. Nothing special! Ordinary fries with old Bay seasoning! The wings were oily and cold (I should have known because they came within 30 seconds of ordering, so they obviously had been sitting out.) I think one reviewer said it best - Hooters food, although way more expensive and lower quality. Keep walking and find somewhere else to eat!

Ordered, sat down, got the food, then I'm told that I can't eat at the bar because I ordered it "to go". Dude really? The bar's empty! I had to take the food to the general food court. That's pretty messed up.

As for food, the crabfries were very very salty. The only redeeming quality was the clam chowder. Overall not recommended.

Ah, early morning flights.  They are enough to make me one crazy, sleep-deprived monster.  As I walked by Sbarro and some other questionable "breakfast" joints in Terminal E, I heard the upbeat sound of 80s music and stumbled into the gleaming, impressive bar that is Chickie and Pete's at the airport.

I was all geared up for a Crabby Mary.  Yes, it was 5:30 in the morning, but I truly believe that time stands still at Philadelphia International.  Apparently I was wrong.  The bartender regretfully informed me that they couldn't serve alcohol until 7a.m.  Ridiculous!

Since I was there anyway, I ordered a V8 and the Bordentown sandwich.  It came in a basket and was a mass of cheesy salty goodness.  I'm still not sure what a pork roll is, but I guess it hardly matters when you've got this kind of concoction in your mouth.

The bar started to fill up, with several patrons storming out when they realized they couldn't get alcohol.  I had to laugh.  I'm not the only one!  The bartender handled the multiple patrons very skillfully and I was on my way in no time.  A very tasty alternative to fast airport breakfast, though it was a bit pricier than McDonald's.  Flying with a full stomach just makes me so happy!

Looking for a cheesy, salty, beer swilling refuge in PHL? Look no further than terminal E.

In simplest terms, they top salads with crab fries. I love fries - specifically ones tossed in Old Bay seasoning - but these suckers are lost in a salt overload AND they're on a salad? It reminded me of the time my roommate put panties on her cat. "Hey! I'm pretty sure those don't belong there!" I offered.

I leave my pretensions at door whenever patronizing Chickie's, but my taste buds know better and they're not fooling me with bad bar food. Thankfully, they have every domestic light beer imaginable to compensate for their lack of quality consumables. You know? I don't know.

I'm being polite... i would normally have given one star.  First, expectations are a bit low when you eat at the airport as they know they have a captive audience.  However, it was empty when I got there at 1130a.  Sat at the bar.... tick tick tick... about 5 minutes later I ask if I sat in a closed area.  Nope... it will just be a minute.  Order the cheesesteak and fries at the suggestion of the waitress.  Had a tough time getting a soda refill, had to flag them down.  Then the fries come out first.  Almost like someone ordered them and didn't want them.  Then 3 minutes later the sandwich.  Fries were not really hot and not really all that great.  Cheesesteak was subpar for Philly.  I've had the good ones.  This is not good.  I've had a better cheesesteak in Cleveland.  WTF???
And, for the pleasure of being disappointed at the airport, I get a $21 lunch tab.  No thank you....

I have only been to Chickie's and Pete's in the Philly airport. The first time, we stopped in for a quick snack and drink before a flight. I had heard that the fries were amazzing so I knew that's what I wanted... Well, these fries delivered, big time. Absolutely great crab fries! and the cheese sauce that accompanies them is delicious as well.

Fast Forward a few months.... I was flying out of Philly (on my Birthday) to head south for a wedding...The only thing I wanted for my birthday was a big bucket of crab fries... I literally got to the airport early just to get fries before the flight... I can't recommend much of their other food, though a friend enjoyed a cheese steak from here. By far the best crab fries and dipping sauce. I'm craving them right now!

Really disappointing. Just because you are in an airport terminal doesn't mean you get a free pass for crappy food and service.  Warning: the crabby fries are just french fries with a cheese sauce--not actually crab meat.

Draft beer was lukewarm and stale. Sandwich wasn't adequately sliced and came apart when I tried to rip it. Service was poor.

    One star.

Chickie's and Pete's blows.  Their food is basically the same as at Hooters, only tastes worse.  This is a good spot to binge on light beer on tap and watch a Phils or Flyers game, but don't go there hungry or you will settle for less.

Chickie's and Pete's is one of few bar areas in terminal C of the Philadelphia International Airport.  I, tired and cranky after an exhausting business trip to Philly, decided to grab a beer at the bar while waiting for my flight back to RDU to board.  It took several minutes of my attempting to make eye contact with the bartender before she actually spoke to me.  The bar was neither empty, nor packed.

I ordered an Amstel Light and it tasted strange.  Now, I realize Amstel Light is not a particularly good beer, but it has a skunky taste that is easily recognizable.  This tasted like watered down apple juice or, like Miller Lite, to be specific.  I didn't argue or request a new drink.  The bartender did not speak to me or look at me again so, when she finally saw me, my hand raised in her direction, I just asked for the bill, which confirmed my suspicions that I had just paid $9.25 (plus tax and tip) for a Miller Lite.

I didn't eat the food because 1) I imagine it is neither good, nor vegetarian-friendly, and 2) because the bartender never brought me a menu (and didn't give me the opportunity to ask for one).

But they did have some killer '80s pop playing (extra star!) and, again, it is in a convenient location.  Meh. I've experienced better.

While the decor and service were fine, the food is FOUL.  Do NOT eat here.  It's a joke.  I would rather have a prepackaged sandwich for half the price than the garbage this place serves up.

We ordered the "famous" fries to start.  They came out in about 30 seconds, which to me means they had been sitting there.  While the fries were ok, the dipping sauce/cheese was nasty.  There was a skim over the top of it and the sauce itself had zero flavor.  Is this the stuff everyone raves about?

I ordered a ham and cheese wrap.  When he plopped it in front of me, it was clear that this was a pre-made sandwich that had been sitting in a fridge, wrapped in plastic.  The wrap had a sheen to it, and was slimy.  And the sandwich had zero taste.  It was so bad I only ate half.  The BF ordered a burger which he said was ok.

Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO HERE.  Gross!

The service here was mediocre at best.  The waitress paid me a lot of attention for like 10 minutes, then the lady sitting next to me, then ignored us both for the rest of the time we sat at the bar.  She was clearly more interested in flirting with the male travelers sitting at the end of the bar.

The food was ok, but nothing to write home about.  However, compared to eating at a McDonalds or Burger King it was worlds above.  I'd rather eat here than a fast food place anyday.

I had a beer before my flight and the beer tasted a bit off, but it could have just been a bad tap. Next time I'm in the Philly airport I'll eat here if it's convenient, but I'm not terminal hopping for it.

Seat yourself, the sign said.  So we did.  Too bad that PA law states that kids can't sit at the bar.  Okay, the place was packed and those were the only seats that opened in 10 minutes, but no biggie, even though I totally  rolled my eyes at the server who gave us the bad news.  She must have seen the face I pulled because then she shouted out "Argh!  I'm telling you this because it's my JOBBBBBB" and then covered her face with her hands, all aghast and dramatic.  Okay, sweetie - you hang out with a  hungry/tired/whiney five year-old and then you'll see some motherfucking drama.

Whatevs.  Soon enough, a table opened up and we ordered.  The food is totally not great, although my husband scarfed down his cheesesteak sandwich.  Will ate his chicken fingers and I had sweet relief in a so-so glass of Robert Mondavi Cabernet Savignon and a few bites of chicken fingers.

The place is a typical airport sports bar,a bit pricier than you'd expect, but I think someone has to pay for the owner's teeth whitening and fake tan treatments.  Seriously, this dude's picture is plastered hundreds of times on the wall, posing with Philly VIP and sports stars.  What a big-grinned idiot.

    No.

It's not even that my beer was $9 (it was a tall).  They're supposedly street-priced, or whatever, and I might be too accustomed to Chapel Hill prices.

It's that when I ordered my turkey wrap, I was asked if I wanted fries.  I said okay, not realizing I wasn't getting a small side of fries, but a $6 glob of fries.  The waitress did not make any distinction clear (she only asked if I wanted fries, not that there was some major extra charge to said fries), and I only found out after I looked at the bill.  $1 or $2 is one thing, but $6?  One would expect that if you're going to ask if I want fries with a meal, that it would mean that it would be a side, and that the extra amount wouldn't be that significant.  Sadly, that's my mistake, so I just dealt with it.

Sad thing is, the fries were probably the best part of the entire meal (they were peppered).  As others have mentioned, the food comes out almost immediately, meaning that it's all just kind of sitting there (and ruining the ability to read or watch TV aimlessly while waiting). The turkey wrap was flavorless and monotonous.  I only ate about half of that (and a little bit of my glob of fries).

The whole thing came to $24 with tax.

Go to Sbarro if you want food.  The service here is underwhelming, and the food isn't that good.

There are actually two Chickie and Pete's at PHL, one in the International Terminal, one in Terminal C.   I know this because we ate at both (on two different legs of our trip).

The cheesesteaks are decent enough, and probably the best thing apart from the beer that you can order.  Crabfries (which have nothing to do with crab) come almost instantly, yet manage to be relatively fresh.  I attribute this to high turnover.

On our first visit, I was impressed with the chicken strips my daughter ordered.  Not so on the 2nd visit.

Other sandwiches are clearly prepackage and right out of the celophane wrap.

Service?  With around 8 visible waitstaff, the service manages to be pretty abysmal.  I don't mind if they are hurried, after all, passengers are usually on a tight schedule, but get some manners.  Or is being impolite a "feature" of Philadelphia?

I had some time to kill in the Philly airport and was trolling around looking for a place to sit and eat in Terminal C - to kill some time.

I ordered a Bass Ale and perused the menu.  I settled on the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich.  The sandwich came out really quickly - in fact, I had just finished pouring my beer into the glass, and it came out from the back.  Obviously, it wasn't made fresh to order.

The bread was a so-so processed roll with sesame seeds.  The meat was okay - dry and definitely NOT much of it.  The best part was the creamy cheese sauce on top.  This was a sad excuse for a Philly Cheesesteak.  Plus, that was it.  A sandwich in a paper basket with a plastic fork.  No fries and not even a pickle.

Save your money and wait to eat a fantastic Philly Cheesesteak in the city.  Head to Jim's at 400 South Street!  The best of the best in town!!

And head around the corner and eat at the Asian restaurant in Terminal C - it can't be any worse or disappointing than here!

Philly cheesesteak sandwich was WAY below expectations. I've had better at Sonic in Arizona. Really. Was expecting something delicious coming from Philly. Maybe because it was the airport bar?

Service here is abysmal. Very poor. Expensive as heck too (Should you expect to pay $$$$ for a beer at the airport? maybe . . . ).

I guess if you are the only decent choice in the airport you can treat people like second class citizens. I do not recommend this place unless you have no other alternative. Very disappointed.

I can't complain. I was 2 hours early for my flight, the Red Sox were playing (ok ok, the Phillies weren't on - I would have preferred it if they were) and rather than sit at my gate I hoped to pass time by spending very little (I only had $2 left in my wallet) and watching the game.

I got free water and not much else. This is good and bad. I didn't want hassle, or to be nagged to buy something to stay there. Which I wasn't. Win. But I was also kinda hoping for some sort of hot drink, like a decaf coffee (I wanted to sleep on the flight), or tea, or hot chocolate. They didn't have any of these.

Bill Clinton likes it and so does J-Roll, so it's good enough for me. But I don't really think I went there for what it does best (i.e. not decaf coffee) so I'll save further judgment until I go back.

I've been to both the Terminal E and Terminal C locations. E is a little quieter but I'm pretty sure both have the same beers and food.

The cheesesteaks are better than you can get in the rest of the country, but they're not as good as the good ones you can get other places in Philly. They're a little light on the onion for my tastes, but not unreasonably so. The crabfries are just fries with a large amount of "Old Bay" seasoning on them and white cheese sauce on the side; they're quite tasty though.

    I like Chickie's and Pete's.

Been to their location by the stadiums and the one in the Northeast.
When we were flying out the other day, I decided to stop by for a quick beer, since we had about an hour before the flight (though my decision to have a beer at 5:30am was met with a raised eyebrow).

Guess what, although this place is a bar and greets you with rows of alcohol staring right at your face and it's open - they don't serve alcohol until 7am. Uhm, sorry, what??? WHY????

What's more, when I was told by the bartender/server that they can't serve alcohol, I started to turn around and he goes to me:

-- But we have a great breakfast!
-- You really think any breakfast no matter how good can replace a beer????

I went to Chickie's and Pete's Cafe on a stopover to Philadelphia.  I had two hours in between flights and wanted to take a cab over to Geno's but that was cutting it way too close.  I asked around the airport for the best cheesesteak in the airport and they pointed me in this direction.

I stopped in and saw a yelp award that was plastered on the wall.  I figured hey this place must be pretty good since people have recommended it.  I sat down and asked what they were famous for.  They said that the crabfries were their trademark.  I ordered those and a  Philly Cheesesteak since I was in Philadelphia.

The cheesesteak was good.  It tasted authentic just similar to that of Pat's Famous Steaks off of Passyunk.  The crabfries were tremendous.  They had such great potatoe flavor.  Also it came with a cheese dip that tasted great.

My only gripe about this place is the service.  I think the service here is pretty bad.  At the end of my order I asked for a soda.  My waitress said sure thing, and brought my check to me.  I then asked for a soda again, thinking she forgot.  I waited about 5-8 minutes and still no soda.  I walked out with high hopes of a great experience shattered.

The food is pretty decent here.  I would probably avoid this place just for the service alone.  The Philadelphia Airport is amazing.  There are so many restaurants and shopping spots.  The next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to visit another place as I probably will not go here again due to this bad service.

My daughter and I had an early flight out to Columbus and she wanted to get something to eat. After strolling through the airport food court and not seeing anythign to our liking, we walked to the end of the "C" terminal (or maybe "B", I don't remember) and came across the Chickie and Pete's. My daughter loves the crabfries at  the resturant near the sports arena's so we stopped in.

Since it was only 9:00 we wern't even sure they were open, but the bartender assured me they were. We had to wait about 5 minutes at the front counter, but, eventually the clerk showed up and took our order. It only took an additional 5 minutes but the fries showed up piping hot, with 2 containers of the cheese sauce. The serving was more than enough for 2 people, and we were quite pleased with it. For those that don't know, C&P's crabfries are dusted with Old Bay seasoning and served with a white cheese sauce.

Maybe it was because it was early, but everthing seemed fresh and tasty. It only get's 3 stars because the service was so-so.

I was pretty shocked that I could order many things that are on the normal menu at this little airport bar version.  I went with my old favorite, the mussels marinara, and they did not disappoint.  And the portion was quite large.   They didn't quite get my beer order right (I ordered a lager, small, and they brought out some sort of dark beer in a very tall glass) but I was honestly there for the food at that point (3+ hour delays.)    Watched some baseball and had some mussels - could think of a whole lot worse things to do while waiting for a flight!

I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning and I love it! Everywhere on our several mile hike between terminals was out, except for here! A big bowl of steaming hot steel cut oats with brown sugar and slivered almonds saved my morning. Now, my belly is full and my vacation is coming along just fine. Service was decent, nothing special and typical airport quality. The music was a nice change with current hits loud enough to jam to but not so loud I couldn't have a conversation. Sports highlights on TV made the hubby happy! So glad we stopped here for breakfast. Oatmeal is the breakfast of champions, enough said.

I must say I really enjoyed their cheesesteak sandwich. The bun or roll wasn't too thick the meat was juicy. There wasn't a mountain of gooey cheese. Just nice peppers and meat. However what spoiled things was the crabfry bisque which was the consistency of pudding. I would not try again.

OK...I have a lay over in Philly. Two hour wait, excited to be going to Italy and eating all the pasta I can handle. I must first have my last American meal before going. When in Philly indulge in the cultural phenomonon called a cheese steak. I had a local experince with one of these little beauties,  http://www.yelp.com/bi..., and I wasn't that impressed. So I wanted to give it another try along with a couple of beers.
The cheesesteak I had was with onions and cheese, better known as wit and wiz....the cheese was a creamy white color not the usual orange cheese wiz with fries and a couple of america's famous Coors. The cheesesteak was steamy hot and the fries were hot. This was a pretty good sandwich, just not the best. It sat in my stomach for the eight hour flight like a rock. Unfortunately the cheese effected me and caused a gastomonic anomoly. Thank God for those overhead blowers on an airplane.

Does the real Chickie's & Pete's know that these people are abusing their name and reputation?  What a sad way to represent a Philadelphia institution to the rest of the traveling world.  Let's start with the grumpy servers who make a point of ignoring customers... I understand if you're busy (which this place was not) but at least give me an "I'll be right with you," don't pretend I'm invisible.  My shrimp remoulade was clearly taken out of the fridge and microwaved for a minute; even the plate had cold spots.  My dining companion had equally little love for his gross, soggy cheesesteak.  The only bright spot was the crab fries.  So, so sad.

So maybe this isn't the greatest in the world when it comes to airport food.  Their service isn't the best.  The fruit was soggy and a bit plasticy.  They're over-priced.  But that cheese sauce they serve with the fries is to die for!  I would fly through the Philly airport again just for this little taste of cheesy heaven!

Maybe Jenna M. explains it -- is this really a part of whatever organization is famous in Philly?

I was in for an all-day layover, I believe I was in terminal C (I read there may be two Chickie's and Pete's in the airport).  Since I was on my way to Europe, I decided on this spot in order to enjoy something specifically American and/or Phildelphian.

FOOD: It was early, and I didn't want a cheesesteak, so I got the Cheesesteak Omelette.  It was good, but didn't taste like anything special -- not great, not bad.  I also got the Crabfries since this was the signature item on the menu, and was totally disappointed.  The fries are plain -- decent potato texture -- with lots of some kind of season-all overly-sprinkled (would that be "poured"?) on them.  They come with, I guess, white cheese sauce that has something to do with crab.  It was very mild, but not complementary to seasoned fries in any way.  The sauce turned changed to a non-appetizing consistency with time (I was trying to eat the fries over the course of my time there); it was unsalvageable by the time I finished my omelette.  I had it warmed up when I finally got attention from my server, but ended up leaving* them.  *I'm a person who eats ALL my food and usually leaves with a to-go bag, especially when traveling.  Oh yeah, the hot chocolate was watery.

SERVICE: The woman seemed like she was pleasant, but maybe didn't care and had other things to do?  I'm not exactly sure whether she was the regular waitress (she didn't seem like it), but the first thing I asked the was whether they had hot cocoa.  She said she didn't think so, but came back  with it.

PRESENTATION: Confusion: My cocoa was in a generic to-go coffee cup, but only filled half the container.  It was sooo obvious that they just mixed some Nestle up for me.  I know Nestle is normal for many establishments, but at least they camouflage it.  My omelette was on a nice plate, the fries were in a concession stand paper container (there were plenty, though), the napkins were falling out of the container and the plasticware was "silver," which I didn't realize till I picked it up.  It just didn't seem right -- the place looks like a mini restaurant, but the rest of the experience felt like I was at a concession stand.

we were going to wait for someone to take our order, but we ran short on time.

our flight wasn't for another 90 minutes.

A nice escape from the concourse while waiting for a flight. The staff were attentive and friendly, even keeping my water glass full. (It may have helped that the woman next to me at the bar kept getting refills of her Jaeger shots.) The decor is mostly dark woods and deep greens, but there was plenty of light from the concourse and the numerous large-screen TV's showing the Eagles game.

I had 2 of their specialties--mussels and the crabfries (TM). I was very pleased that the mussels were excellent and numerous. Good quality, plump, slightly toothy, and without any noticeable grit. Nearly all of them opened widely in the cooking process and even those that didn't were fairly easy to pry open. The award-winning marinara sauce was tangy and delicious and complemented the mussels nicely. The very full bowl also included 2 piece of baguette for soaking up leftover sauce and juice. The crabfries, by contrast, were disappointing. The base french fries (crinkle-cut) were pretty good but were heavily dusted with an overpoweringly spicy powder. I think it's the same powder used when boiling crab, which could have been interesting and tasty but was just plain too strong. The fries came with some kind of dull-flavored, super-thick white sauce that I didn't eat much of after the first few dips. Once I started dipping the fries in the excellent marina/mussel juice, I was much happier--the flavor combination was good and the juice washed off the excess powder.

Conclusion: Good choice for lunch, snack, or just relaxing while waiting for a flight. Definitely have the mussels, but skip the crabfries.

Good spot for an airport bar. I will always remember the first time I tried these "World Famous Crab Fries." It was at this bar...and the cravings took off from there. From looking at other posts...service seems to be a problem...I guess I had a little special treatment for being in military uniform, but the bartender took care of me and my buddy! First round was on the house, and the next few drinks were on us, but usually bars give you this small glass...here we had tall glasses! The prices weren't too bad either...you should expect to pay a little more at the airport. I was pleased...and if I come through Philly again...I'll be sure to grab some fries and a mixed drink!

Good bar food, great to watch games while waiting for plane.  Mixed drinks are much better deal than beer, cost wise.
