10 reviews for Chicken Chicken Caribbean Wood Roasted
Posthumous review here. This place was wonderful. I'm still looking for a replacement for the experience you could get at Chicken Chicken.
The food was fantastic, the chicken succulent, and the veggies fresh. A great healthy dinner alternative, and there just aren't enough places like that.
People I know rave about this place unfortunately it burned to the ground! I did have some of a friend's leftover once and even that was yummy so I really wanted to try it warm.
As soon as it's back I'll have it and review it proper.
Um this place burned down...
BUT if they ever rebuild it, eat the jerk chick as much as possible.
As Yelpers in the know alluded to, Chicken Chicken is no more, ravished by fire. I miss the Cyprus---slow roasted perfectly seasoned grilled chicken breast fillets over fideo rice with a side of yogurt and pita bread.
Fire. Bad.
Cyprus. Good.
When are they coming back!!! Our house value dropped when they burned down!
We heard rumors they were looking for a new location. Maybe there are issues with insurance but I sincerely hope they come back in downtown Burlingame. It was the best!
CHICKEN CHICKEN! UPDATE?! I think, maybe I believe, ohhhhh, could it be true????? are they reopening and rebuilding this restaurant?
OOOOHHHHH how they tease me with their roasted chicken pictures on the boarded up door. DAMN~!! 8/24/06
Chicken, Chicken! The name alone starts me salivating. What can you say about this fire-roasted chicken perfection, prepared before your eyes in the custom-built rotisserie? In my opinion, this is THE most reliable food in Burlingame. The sauce used to roast the chicken (I get the fire roasted, not the Jamaican Jerk which is a little spicer) is a divine concoction of Caribbean spices. Add to that one 'aside' for lunch, or two 'asides' for dinner, and you have a complete meal with cornbread for a reasonable price (about $7.50 to $10). Each side is better than the next: The sweet coleslaw with jicama, the wondy carrot slaw, the spicy and very green mixed veggies, salad, and homestyle, cinnamony cornbread. If you've been lucky enough to try the extra chocalatey coconut brownies with caramel for dessert, well then, you know the addiction that can be had at this place! The only drawback to the seating is that it can be warm on summers with the rotisserie going, but it has outdoor seating to help. I've been told that the owner of Chicken Chicken has a similar restaurant in the Caribbean, so I believe it to be authentic. I think I'd better go for dinner soon.
12/27/05: Very bad news: The place is locked up and no sign. The place burned down! I guess too much roasting chicken on an open fire isn't such a great thing.
There are few grab-and-go places for chicken lovers in the Bay Area, and for now there is one less. Five stars for a rapid comeback (and amazing jerk chicken)!
Chicken Chicken is GONE. Closed. It burnt to the ground today. We decided to try it tonight and when we got there the fire truck was still parked outside. The rare time I decide to eat some meat and the place I pick catches fire and burns to the ground just hours before. What are the odds? Is a greater power trying to send me a message? If so, I ignored it and had a burger at Buck's instead.
I loved Chicken Chicken. Their caesar salads were the greatest. I hope they come back again sometime soon. :(
Great family atmosphere, great-tasting chicken, good price. Family-owned.
