I paid roughly $900, mattress, box spring, taxes and delivery inclusive, and by rights I should now be staring daggers at a no-name mattress of mediocre-to-decent quality, wishing I'd had the cash to get something better.
Instead, I'm lounging in my new queen Simmons Beautyrest World Class firm pillow top, which tends to retail over $2000, and thinking someone is going to have to come over with a crowbar and a blowtorch to get me out of it, because I'm not moving voluntarily. I love it THAT MUCH.
Spectacular savings on luxury mattresses should really be enough to recommend this place but there is plenty more that can be said.
The staff are great. Friendly, helpful, and perfectly low pressure. When I went in the first time, Mike cheerfully pulled down mattress after mattress for me to try, and when I found one I thought I might like, he left me alone to test it out as long as I needed (about 20 minutes, though I knew after about 30 seconds I'd found The One).
They also have layaway. Interest-free. It took me three pay periods to scrounge up the extra $900, but you know what? Waiting six weeks for this bed was smarter than buying on credit with a 22.98% variable APR, losing sleep over my interest rate.
You don't get a warranty at CDM. That sounds like a negative, but really, who has ever used a damned mattress warranty successfully? Do you know of anyone? I don't. Waste of money, I say.
You need a mattress? Check out Chicago Discount Mattress. Unless you like spending an extra grand on frivolities, in which case, by all means go to one of those fancypants mattress stores.

A friend of mine from San Francisco told me about ChicagoDiscountMattres... after buying a mattress from their sister store DirtCheapMattress.com. She got such a great deal I couldn't resist at least checking it out because I'm all about great deals! After checking out their website (I'm SO glad they're members of the Better Business Bureau), I spoke with Will who gave me an awesome deal on a Simmons Pillowtop mattress (and boxspring AND delivery) for $850 out the door.
It was a fast and easy transaction. The best part was that there was no sleazy, high pressure salesman hovering over me. I still can't believe how much money I saved. I'm totally telling everyone about this place.

Purchased a mattress from these guys and i must say that the service we recieved was refreshing,Mike was very patient(we arrived at closing and he opened the store back up for us)he showed me several mattrtesses and my wife and i fell in love with the simmons worldclass patterson queen size. The mattress was priced online at another retailer for $2399,we paid $1125 and that included delivery.
the delivery guys delivered our mattress at 9:30pm the same night.
The major big box retailers sure could learn a few things about service from these guys,needless to say we were very pleased.
If you want a hi end mattress at a great price and you dont mind the small cozy store without all the fancy extras this is the place to shop.

The entire mattress buying and delivering experience was a pleasure. I am an attorney who recently moved to Chicago and was in need of a mattress. I showed up at the store on Saturday afternoon and decided on a Simmons King size Beautyrest plush pillow top mattress for $750 (including tax and delivery). Mike and Will were conscientious, helpful, and put no pressure on me at all. So I purchased my mattress and told them that I wanted it delivered later in the week. This was NOT a problem. They held the mattress at the store and told me to just call them when I wanted it delivered. I gave them a ring today (Thursday) and told them that I am at the office all day long and that I wanted them to deliver it tonight since that was the best for my schedule. This was no problem at all, Will and another gentleman came by at 8pm and courteously delivered my mattress quickly and on time.
The bottom line is that Chicago Discount Mattress has made this experience nice and easy and I am left with a mattress I am extremely pleased with at an amazing price.
I have already recommended this place to friends and will continue to do so.

This place is great if you are looking for a comfortable matress for REAL cheap.
Perfect for those kids who finally got a real job outta school and are done sleeping on crap.
My wife and I just moved to chicago from michigan, we came in a month early to sign our lease and came across this place. I think his name was Mike, the guy that helped us, anyway, he said it would be no problem to hold the matress for a month until our place was ready.
He pulled down 4-5 different mattresses, let us try them all. They were all name brand, great feel. We got a queen simmons with box spring and frame for 1000$. They even helped us load it when we went to pick it up.
Also, the day we bought it he gave me a corona cause I was having a rough day.....try that at macy's
bottom line, great place, I would for sure go back, don't go and give your money to some big department store. Give it to these guys!!!

A great local business that deserves a look if you need a mattress. They get Simmons mattresses directly from the warehouse that have slight blemishes. Frankly, a little dirt for 50% off retail is not a bad trade. Couldn't tell anything was wrong with mine.
I bought a mattress from younger Will, but also talked/worked with his father (Will too), Michael and Dwayne. All were very helpful. We had an issue with our mattress, (our fault, not the store's) and the store stands behind their business and helped take care of it.
If you want to waste your time with the fancy bed stores, ok, but this place is worth a look. Small local business that is fighting the big boxes and doing a nice job! Only thing I recommend is to call them and see what mattresses they have in stock to make sure they have a good selection of the size you are looking for. If you go there right after a shipment, you'll probably get an even better deal. This place is small!
Bottom line - $875 for a firm Simmons Beautyrest including delivery and excellent customer service.
We definitely recommend this place. The sales people are very friendly and helpful and you really can get a great deal on a high quality mattress. The delivery was very quick, just a tip, ask the sales people ahead of time to tape the sides of the plastic that is wrapped around the mattress so that the plastic doesn't open during delivery.
The mattress is like sleeping on a cloud and we are so happy to have it!!
My girlfriend and I had been dealing with a ridiculous futon from IKEA for the past two years. It'd gotten lumpy and was starting to sag wherever it wasn't lumpy. Ignoring this, I was starting to think that waking up sore was just part of getting older.
Uh, I'm 26. We should've just gotten a better mattress (an "adult mattress" as Mesha was told) sooner.
We decided to throw down about $800 for a full-sized mattress because that's what we'd heard they'd cost. Then, as I was biking up Western one day I saw the sign for this place, and figured we may as well look into it.
I'm happy to say that we now sleep on this amazing Euro-style pillowtop mattress by Corsicana that we got for $499 including the boxspring. I don't really know what a "Euro-style pillowtop mattress by Corsicana" means. All I know is that I don't make all the funny cracking noises when I wake up now. It was $75 for delivery, but that was fine since I think hauling the mattress and the boxspring would've crushed our tiny Celica.
We saw the mattress at 8pm on Monday. Will, the owner, obliged us with a late appointment that night. He cleared out a space on the floor, put out a boxspring, and let us try mattress after mattress all while being really friendly (not salesman friendly) and not trying to push or rush us the whole time. We finally decided on one, and he offered to deliver it right then. At 9:00 at night. We opted for getting it the next day so we'd have time to clean up and move things around instead.
All in all, our experience was great. The service was personable and efficient, and the deal we got was huge and unexpected.

This is a great little known secret in the area. Found on yelp and agree with positive posters. Small shop but great selection of high quality mattresses. Bought a Simmons Nature Bed that I saw online for about 2 grand. Will gave it to me for 800.
I am one of the owners of ChicagoDiscountMattres.... I am baffled by the complaint by the poster Mesum N.
I have no record of this customer nor any complaint by a credit card company or Paypal. We basically are 'cash and carry' business. You come to the store and look at the mattress and purchase if you want.
Paypal has an internal process that notifies you immediately of any complaints or refund requests. Plus Paypal holds onto any funds on a 'complaint' while it is investigated.
I have no record of any mattress advance payment outside of Ebay transactions (which has only been 2 and neither are this poster). And again Ebay has an extensive rating system and process to deal with something like this.
I contacted this poster through this site and asked for documentation or some clarity on his review and to assist him. I gave him direct numbers and names to both owners. He initially told me to not contact him or he'd report me as 'harassing' him. He didn't say who he dealt with or when. Suddenly he no longer has a paypal account. We only have two other part time staff but one of the owners is there on a daily basis and something as significant as a 'customer complaint and request for refund' would not have been ignored or not taken care of. No one has any recollection or receipt that is related to this poster. But hey, I'm trying to just figure this all out so I asked him to please call one of us.
I truly do not understand what the issue is. Maybe I inadvertantly took his parking space somewhere or smiled the wrong way on a bad hair day. I just don't know.
And of course, as a business owner it does concern me and that is why I am posting here. I respect reviews and actually appreciate people taking the time to post.
I hope that we are not adversely affected and hope that our reputation as a great mattress place continues in Chicago. We're a small business and our word of mouth reputation is so important.
I've contacted Yelp staff to check on this to check this post. These forums are so valuable to people and it would be shame if it's being used to harm a small business and the livelihood of the 2 young staff members.
And I had to give our store a 5 Star rating. It doesn't allow a 'no star' but really, I think our store is the BOMB...and deserves a 5 store rating but...obviously take that out of the equation when you're evaluating the reviews.

Everyone here is well-intentioned, and friendly. It's not the most professional operation, but you can eventually get what you want, you just need to be a little patient.
This place is not so much about getting super cheap nasty mattresses, but a high quality item that you would need to pay much more for elsewhere. If you are looking to spend less than 450-500, I would not bother.
Without knowing what it was at the time of purchase, I got one of the Westin hotel Heavenly beds for 600, while it usually sells for 1250 on the Westin website. Not bad.

OMG! These guys are great at this place. I moved in the Bucktown area and I don't have a car so I was looking in the neighborhood. I found this place right in Bucktown (found on the internet) and called them. Spoke DIRECTLY with the owner, Will. He cut me a great deal because I came in and bought it the same day. I had my mattress that night. I recommend this store A++++++. They pulled out a couple mattresses and let me just try them out. He asked me to "tell my friends" and he gave me a frame for free! So I'm trying to let everyone know about them. Thanks Will!

We bought a Simmons world class "covington" king mattress set from them for $650. They gave me the $25 yelp discount. While I'll admit the staff was a bit 'young', I felt they tried. They weren't the most polished sales people but I felt they gave me a good deal. I'd recommend this store based on prices and the 'attempt' of good customer service. Turns out one of the kids, William, is the son of the owners of the place. His dad delivered the mattress the same day for us. It just seems like it's their first job so I'd give them a break. It was a good experience just not being pressured to buy like the other places.

Great find on yelp. Fairly easy transaction. Shopped around online and at Macys. Had to help move some mattresses but saved at least 1500 on a Simmons mattress. Highly recommend.

I'm a bitch as you tell based on my reviews. But I like what I like and I LOVED these dudes at this place. I laughed, I cried, I lived and all at a mattress store. I walked in wanting to spend $300 like the retard who called in. They showed me one for $300 which Will, the pops, said "You know it's fine but when you want to buy an adult mattress you may want to spend a little more to get a better quality mattress that you are going to keep" The nerve of the dude but you know he showed me one for $599. This bitch could see for herself that the mattress was 100 times better. He let me put a few bucks on it until payday. I came in and put a little more like the ol' lawaway days and he let me touch my mattress. I got the baby last night and it is wonderful. I don't care what the other posters said, this place was exactly the place for me. Fabulous (as my homo friends say) mattress and a really good deal. Bottom line, I don't need to be coddled and I like people who are straight up. If a smudge scares you GO PAY $2000 FOR A MATTRESS!

I'll have to respectfully disagree with Musem N. I checked them out for two reasons: First, I liked Anna's response to the negative review. Second, I had a bad experience at another mattress store and was looking for something 'different'. I don't know that I would have properly appreciated the service and prices at Chicago Discount Mattress had I not first gone somewhere else. I dealt with three different people - Anna, Dwayne(sp?) and Will. All were very friendly, helpful, and responsive. Unlike other mattress stores, there was no pressure. There was absolutely no pressure. And no frills. The store is so packed full of mattresses that you really can't try one out.
In the end, I paid around $500 for a nice mattress and box spring.
I don't know enough about mattresses to know if I got a good deal. But, I was happy to spend my money at a store where the sales people were friendly, and I felt good about my purchase when I left. I'll recommend this store to anyone who asks.
